Schools are freakin' petri dishes.  I'm counting down the hours until the spouse starts sneezing uncontrollably.

That they are. Good thing I rolled an 18 for my Con as I rarely get sick and, if I do, it usually only lasts a day or two at most.

Re: Not Dead Yet

I seem to be over the worst of it (I think the Girl's was worst -- she developed one of those coughs).  Still no sniffles from the spouse though, damn it.  (Not that i really want him to get sick.)

Done for night.  Will try (though I can't promise) to get to Mobley tomorrow before we are off to the campground.  Have PM'ed the members of that group.

It definitely is unusual for her not to say anything.  I would hope that if anything were wrong, the GM's husband would say something.  He at least logged onto the game today...

Sorry, we've had some things going on, including a visit from friends (so not necessarily just troublesome things, some good things, too).  I think I'm having problems getting my momentum going again, for a lot of different reasons.

Re: Not Dead Yet

Things that have been keeping us busy -- kids; having our kitchen ripped out (two weeks in, three to four weeks to go); dog.  Work.

I think it might be time to figure out how to wrap this up.  Back in March, as I was barreling towards trial, I considered posting then that I thought I needed to get the story-lines to an end-game - not necessarily wrapping up all the loose ends, but getting PCs to a point where the players could say they had questions answered, and goals achieved.  But at the time, I recognized that the stress of work, combined with some other things, was likely warping my thinking, and I decided to simply put the game on hiatus until after the trial.

Then after I got back, I had a brief burst of enthusiasm that hasn't held.  I find myself thinking, "I should log on and post."  And then just not doing it.  I can see end-games for a few of the plots are really close; others could go on for quite some time.  But the prospect of keeping them going indefinitely doesn't energize me; instead, it drains me.  It's not because of anything going on here -- you guys really have been, for a very long time, just the most amazing group of players.  I wish you lived within 30 minutes driving distance, so I could have y'all over to sit around the table.  But I can't get myself into the right brain-space to be able to say I'm in this for the long haul.  I would propose continuing the hiatus, but i'm afraid that if I do that, in a couple of months time I'll not be prepared to pick up the reins and run with it.

But I don't want to just walk away from it either and leave things unfinished.  So I guess I'm opening up a discussion about what folks want to do.

Re: Not Dead Yet

The below is IMHO

What I am hearing, although I think you are trying to be kind about it, is that you are burned out.  I give you huge kudos for stating that as opposed to just disappearing as many folks do.

Given I think you are looking for an exit strategy, and have been generous enough to offer wrapping things up in various threads, I do not feel that is necessary.  Just end things and be done.  Folks can take their characters and the backgrounds they have developed to other games...they certainly have rich material to work with.

My only other question(s) to you is...
Are you done with GMing?
Are you done with this game, primarily due to the fact that it has become such a massive and complex undertaking, and are interested in doing something on a smaller scale?

If it's the latter then I think I speak for several folks who would enjoy joining.

If it's the former, well it happens to the best of us.  I would say best of luck, enjoy a break until inspiration draws you back.  In which case do not lose my e-mail ademaria68@gmail.com as I would be happy join any game you are running.

Maybe I am wrong, but as a GM, I have felt the same way at times.

Re: Not Dead Yet

I echo the above sentiments.

If you happen to GM again, I'd be glad to get in on it.

You've been the most engaged GM I've ever learned under.

If you desire me specifically, you may reach me at ShadeShine@hotmail.com.

Re: Not Dead Yet

Totally fine with hanging out away from this game.

If you're done, that's cool. You never gave up on any of us and we're not going to be upset/give up on you. You enjoy feeling chill :)

If you ever want to keep in contact, I'll hand off my email.

Re: Not Dead Yet

I can do naught but echo previous sentiments.  You are definitely counted among the elite 1% of GM's on this site and I have enjoyed gaming in your world immensely. As others have stated, if you ever find your inspiration and begin another undertaking, I would be deeply honored for the opportunity to participate.

Best wishes to you and yours. Go with God's speed.

Re: Not Dead Yet

I had been dreading this day... I admire and still don't quite understand how you've managed to keep us engaged and entertained for so long!
Having GM'd a few games myself, I know the feeling you're describing.

I appreciate what my fellow players are saying about accepting to walk away with a maybe some day. By all measures you've earned the right to end this inconvenience on your terms.
This being said and given the opportunity, I would love to exchange a few posts to wrap up ongoing story arcs. That is, if you do have the will and the inspiration for it.

And evidently, I'm on board no question asked with any roleplaying project you want to take on, now or in any future. You have my email address.

Re: Not Dead Yet

Likewise echoed, DM.
Running this many threads, in depth, is draining even when life is smooth in the sailing.

Hamble joined as a support PC, like Charan, and I consider this most certainly the most fun I've ever had as being a support character :)
If you do take back the mantle, by all means please drop me an rmail/email.

Take a great bow for your efforts, and we have all the tales of the adventures in reward.  Much appreciation from us.

Re: Not Dead Yet

Thanks, all.  I would like to finish up a couple of things, if the players are up for it, and game for figuring out how to do it fairly quickly -- that would mean some fast and loose non-mapped based posting, and me seriously backing off my rules-lawyerliness.

First, Tara and Iminye are in the midst of a scene that could close out the story arc of taking out Isabella -- a key goal for Tara, and one she has been chasing for a while, and something that would set Iminye up for her plan to TAKE OVER THE WORLD. And if they fail, it could be a hell of a cliffhanger.  Second, at the same time, the same scene (though in a different thread) could close out Valan's arc.  If those three players would like to do that, and figure out how to make that happen.

Third, Donato is also at the end of a story arc, in a scene that could wrap something up for him, and answer a few questions for him.

Fourth, Mobley -- this one really would require a willingness to set aside the rules, maps, and the like, and just rolling with it, but I'd like to wrap up the "do we get the bone-staff from the white dragon" if the players would like to do it.

Fifth, and this is probably just one or two posts, Tandro can be shuffled back to Sutton.

There are a couple of storylines that can't be wrapped up quickly -- unfortunately, Amira's is very early, as is Gabhran's and Abby's.  Garflin might be wishing, with 20/20 hindsight, that his father/antagonist hadn't escaped that last big fight.  I might be able to do a quick wrap of the current scene involving Jonathan and Elijah, but not in a way that actually closes a milestone in the story.

It is possible that six months from now, I'll feel like the possibility of reopening things (maybe with a "let's say a year, or 2, or 3 or 5 have passed -- if you want to pick up with your current PCs, what happened to them in the meantime?  If you want a new PC, let's talk."   But I can't guarantee it.

Look lass, I hear ye, it can be tough sometimes. Better to just let this fade and, if possible, pick it up later, for both characters.

Re: Not Dead Yet

Mobley - I see this encounter as rather massive...which would be fun to go through, but I see no way to make it an 'easy' one to resolve.  Even with setting aside several rules.  However, since there are several players engaged I would defer to the majority.

Jonathan - I see no reason to move on.

Valan - I see no reason to move on.

Re: Not Dead Yet

Bug dead (apparently has been for some time), hospital visits done, sleep returning.
2/3 chance it will hit me again, so taking preventative meds.
Longterm damage to my leg veins, but chance it could recover in part, so crossing fingers.  Not as common, but my other leg partially recovered from a soccer injury, and my health is and has been super solid, so ... a chance.

Sleep and no IVs make many things much easier to muddle tru.

In reply to GM (msg # 315):
 That all sounds good!
I could write up Josep out off Wyndham as well.

I just discovered my computer at work has a very decent speech synthesiser, I've been listening to the early adventures of Donato et al last week. Very entertaining. A bit annoyingly, I have to listen to the date of posting and characters' bio with every post...
