2040: In the future, the world has changed and not necessarily for the better. Martial law has been implemented when it comes to mutants and super-powered beings. The word mutant is strictly forbidden, just uttering the word can get you tossed into a concentration camp or worse, killed outright. Sentinels have been placed in policing the mutants and those with powers. The X-men have been disbanded, their leader Charles Xavier had been placed on trial and sentenced to death before everyone as an example. It had been a big blow to the mutant community to watch their leader die, but from then on it had become literally hell on earth for those who would not hide from the world. Some of them had of course resisted and the resulting fight from their resistance lay waste to area's throughout the world. Heroes of all stripes drew their sides and the price paid in human blood was immense.

North Korea, New York, Los Angeles, large area's of China and Africa, among others were laid to waste and were no more. Nearly every large population center had large amounts of human death. Choosing to live, the rest of the mutant population went into hiding if they couldn't hide their mutant nature, or just stopped using their mutant abilities or powers and letting themselves be known for what they were. Jean Grey and Scott Summers married and settled down to raise a family, as did many others. Others could not marry publicly but still had children that they raised to be cautious of the Sentinels to ensure their survival. The world has in essence, turned their back on the need for heroes, even those who are not mutants have been regulated and controlled by the World Organization which is a collective of all the leaders of the world.

Technology has now been implemented, Anti-Power anklets were placed on all inside to concentration camps as a means of controlling the mutants they captured. These anklets knock out all powers, mutant and supers alike as soon as they are locked into place.

The World Organization had everything just where they wanted it, until a large invading party from space was spotted by N.A.S.A. The leaders hushed up the invasion until the first ships broke through Earth's atmosphere and now the world is in chaos and calling out for heroes to rise up and take control again. This is their time, their story....
