ADND High Adventure - The Unicorn's Meadhall
I am running an old school ADND dungeon crawl game. It will be a classic straight ADND game using the core books. This will start out as a first level dungeon crawl in a home brew campaign. I am looking for this to become a full campaign with a story arc but for right now this is a basic game to get everyone introduced to each other.
Players have just met each other in a tavern in a small village in Dolaras. Dolaras is a small village located north of a large sea and nestled just outside of a large forest.
You find yourself in a tavern called The Unicorn's Meadhall. Everyone is sitting at a table near a roaring fire. There is exciting talk of a long lost underground dungeon or stronghold. The stronghold is located several miles away from the village. There were recent tremors in the area and no one knows what caused the earthquake. It caused little damage and was soon forgotten. However, one of the characters had overheard a traveling merchant mention to another merchant of a cave entrance while enroute to the village. The merchant had been to the village numerous times and never noticed that cave before. He surmised that the earthquake loosened the entrance. He looked to investigate as he saw a long winding tunnel and at first was going to investigate it. He thought against it as felt it was too dangerous and he had more important matters in the village. He was overhead by saying that there was a rumor many years ago of a underground lair where there was incredible wealth and magic to be found. His comrade, another merchant said it was just a myth and they soon forgot about.
You have all agreed to band together to investigate this cave. You are intrigued by the possibility of finding wealth, power, fame and glory. You inquire to the merchant of the cave and they advised you against going into the cave. However, all of you persuade the merchant to show you the location. He agrees since he was returning that way to another village in another area of the kingdom. The merchant agreed as he would welcome the company and the protection. After several days of traveling the cave is seen in the distance. The merchant bids you farewell but not before he warns of you of the dangers.
