A Game With No GM

Why does a roleplaying game need a game master? I'm starting to believe it doesn't. So this game is an experiment in that. It is not unique - others have done this before, though I haven't seen it on RPOL. But the idea is collaborative storytelling.

THIS IS NOT A FREEFORM GAME. There are rules. There will be a system. I believe that a game is not a game without some kind of rules structure - it is important to be able to consistently assess how any particular character stacks up to any other character or element in the world.

The idea is that the selected group of players will collectively work together to establish the setting, the general/overarching plot, and the characters that inhabit the fiction. Then they will work together, in improv fashion, to tell their stories.

We will draw heavily from games like Smallville and Masks, that do an excellent job of guiding the creation of the unified story and the people and places that are a part of that story.

It should be a long, strange trip...

We're still sorting out our approach with three players. Would be good to get another 1 or 2.

The idea is that we will come up with the story and let this be a character driven story, so come check out what we're talking about if you're interested in the concept.
