The Messengers of the Dark Fog [DnD 5e]

The Messengers of the Dark Fog is seeking players to kick of a thrilling adventure set in post-war fantasy homebrew world on DnD 5e. Looking forward to applications of many kinds as all roles are open at this point!

Old, rugged lamps hanging down from the neck of the street. It takes the long curve along the city for one to reach the other side of the bridge. It’s burning in the golden flow of light, and the river just shivers under the gaze of the eye. Fog, again the fog. It’s a good friend of the lonesome step, singing the song on the empty sidewalk barely past the midhour.

"It’s been awhile since my last sip of something less bitter than a cup of watered whisky. I hate water. Not the rain kind, but the ones that the scum show down your throat for your very own cash. It must be an interesting way to die - drowning." Lek walked in the front of the group, having his usual internal moments.
"You with us, Lek?"
"Was I ever?" had he not realized, it would’ve been much of an accident in the swirly night, that he had to be accompanied by two complete idiots for the new case.
"Probably not." one of the guards scoffed as they turned the corner to reach the scene. Long shadows pulling alongside a lifeless body. Fists clenched in pain. Another one obviously drowned soul by the reports. Funny thing is, he’s in the middle of the city, way too far from any water. Why do people walk away from the spot they died at?

Combat vs Story:

If you are after a game that focuses on stats and combat, this is not the game for you. This is completely fine, but I want you to know straight off, that this is a heavily story driven game and should not be power-gaming based in any way or form. There will be a good blend of story and combat, but if you are after the combat only, I suggest a different adventure.

Game System: DnD 5e
Age rating: This is a mature game. It will contain dark humor, merciless realism, sarcasm, hard subjects, death, thriller, hard language, etc
Quick Overview: The Messengers of the Dark Fog is a dark, dramatic, intriguing and mysterious fantasy thriller story, spiced with a bit of 60/70s detective and drama elements. It uses a fantasy world but the mannerism and mentality of such times mixed in. It is set on multiple sites, including cities, dungeons and wilderness and will take the players from a simple murder case to a grand scale adventure.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This game is not a first-come-first-serve adventure. I hope to find a team of up to 4 people (but can already start with 2), that are interested in something like this, and I'll certainly care deeply about how much you can put yourself into the mood that this game is after, and less about your technical understanding of DnD 5e (with which I can help as much as needed!).
