The Sword of Caine marched to war in the city of Philadelphia in the fall of 2009. Before the next spring, the handful of survivors scattered to the winds. Even the perpetration of one of the worst terror attacks in American History was insufficient to turn the tide in their favor. Faced with unexpected cohesion from the Camarilla and unfortunate incompetence from their leadership, the Sword didn't stand a chance.
In the summer of 2010, Cardinal Vytas set his sights on the city of Newport. He sent Archbishop Petras and a small cadre to find a new warlord for the conquest of the city. After the losses in Philadelphia, the Sword counted few in its ranks making the first task one of recruitment. Shovel head shock troops could easily be mass-embraced on the eve of a major offensive to tie up Camarilla resources, but they also tended to die quickly or be driven to permanent madness by the Beast and prove to be of little use in the long run.
No, it would be a more careful selection process that produced the kind of True Sabbat needed to wrest control of the city from the clutches of the Ivory Tower of the Camarilla.

You have found a Vampire game with a handful of twists. If you'll kindly fasten your seatbelts, I'll walk you through how this is going to work. :)
This game is open and will likely remain open once the requesting players flag is set. Those joining will be making purely mundane humans. Once they have their purely mundane humans, they'll be sent in to engage in RP scenes with other mundane humans. The fun part? The Vampires are watching. Think of them as talent scouts, lurking in the shadows hoping to ID good candidates for the ol' shovel to the back of the head routine. The mortals have a window of time in which to catch the eye of the vampires and win a spot in the Sword of Caine.
That's the doozy out of the way. Why this approach, you ask? Well, we tried the shovel-head thing and it worked out only so well. The problem is that plenty of concepts look shiny at first blush and then turn out rather different once you've seen them portrayed. Making
Is all of this fair? Of course it's not fair. A number of NPCs will likely have vast amounts of exp, a handful of PCs will have a bunch of their own, and then those characters/players will have a say in whether someone gets embraced, and possibly even by whom. That's not even the least bit fair. The point however is not to be fair, but rather to build strong groups of characters, united in death, and bound by shared experiences for the greater enjoyment of all. If it helps, there will be at least two completely distinct sets of scouts and a character who fails to impress one may yet impress the other.
