1st level Pathfinder looking for writers! (Adult, FRCS)

The Hammer and the Bell. Ah, the name rolls right off the tongue, don't it? In the whole world of silly guilds and companies to join, few had the standin' of the Hammer and the Bell. They saw the job through, sure, but that was because'n they had morals. Principles. A sense of right and wrong, sure, but there was more to it, wasn't there?

The Hammer and the Bell stood for more than a silly motto or code of conduct. They took no job they didn't believe in, no bit of work that did'n follow their vision. A group of men and elves, dwarfs and all the other short'n's, all workin' together because'n they shared that sight of truth.

Well, in a world full o' lies and slander, it's no wonder they fell apart year by year. Now they're nothin' but a sad mem'ry for people like me.

Look, you believe in the Hammer and the Bell, don't you? I can see it in you, you know, there's no hidin' it from the likes a' me. It's that vision granted by their name, idn't it? A Hammer that heads out and into the world, and everytime it strikes somethin', it's ringin' a Bell of truth. That's what the Hammer was, you know, a group'a people who believed in somethin' bigger than themselves, hell, bigger than their life.

They're mostly long gone, now, but if I'm speakin' to you then you already know that. If you wanna find anything left of the Hammer, you'll do well to head west o' here. Check out the southern most coast of the Sea of Swords, 'round Amn way. Last I heard, there was folk in Murann who still believe in the Hammer, and some who still stand for 'em, too.

You wanna find the Hammer? Head there, I say, and meet up with that ol' dasher Dex Malvoy. If'n anyone's got more than thread to grasp at, it's him.

Now how's 'bout you buy me an ale, and tell an old man why you're here?

Greetings, player! Welcome to the ad for The Hammer and the Bell!

I'll keep the rest of this brief, since you had to read through that above... I am looking for a group of 4-8 1st-level characters for a very rules-lite Pathfinder game featuring a writing intensive approach. This game will be far more akin to a freeform-style game featuring characters that are encouraged to write their way out of a troubling situation, relying on their rolling only when it adds some excitement and danger to the story.

That makes this story particularly well-suited to the following people:
  • Writers who are new to rules-based games looking for a welcoming introduction to gaming
  • Gamers who are new to writing-intensive games looking for a welcoming introduction to writing
  • That happy middle-ground of players who are bored with freeform games absent of risk, and structured games that require dogged adherence to the rules
  • People who don't give a hoot about any of that and simply want to write in a story that grabs their interest

These players should also understand that the Adult rating is in place because of the openness to mature situations involving sexual encounters, grotesque descriptions of violence, and religious/ethical quandaries that make most people uncomfortable to encounter.

Interested parties can investigate the game itself, poke around, and ask me questions in a Request to Join before becoming too involved in things. I am interested in acquiring a diverse group of characters that plays well together and offers a variety of perspectives and skills. Your ultimate goal as characters is to resurrect the defunct guild of The Hammer and the Bell.

Your prospective character's only tie-in to the story is an interest in this guild and a desire to see the Hammer brought back to its former glory. The strange character featured above has spoken to each of you, no matter your whereabouts in Faerun. You'll all arrive in Murann at about the same time and each will speak to Dex Malvoy about your interests with the guild. The story will pick up already on the road, thereby skipping that tedious death note most games call the "getting to know you" phase.

If you're interested in what's offered here, check out the game. Otherwise, enjoy your day and best of luck finding that thread in Wanted - Players that really grabs your interest!
