Quaint 1970s Canadian backwood horror
Friendigo! : a game of Dread is an attempt to capture the comforting-yet-sincerely-discomforting spirit of old horror films. It aims to be scary, cinematic, low-budget and lived-in, slightly out of whack and with unpredictable murder-bushwhacking. It should be short, sweet and quite possibly leave you going 'what was that?' with a handful of intriguing questions in the manner of a cult film.
The setting is nebulously somewhere in late 1970s Quebec. You're a hiking party for whom things are about to get weird, strange and go disasterously wrong.
Post rate: to be determined, probably not super-fast given my usual workload and other ongoing game.
System: an adaptation of Dread using the dice roller.
For people who like weird, squishy existential horror with heart that frequently skims along the fine line between vintage terror and comedy. General-rated but not facile or punch-pulling (think the picture book Not Now Bernard, or 1960s Doctor Who).
Limited places, chosen by best fit.
