D&D 1st level in both 3.5 and 4e (grouped separately)

Looking for players for a 3.5 D&D adventure with questy classic feel, loosely based on NWN the PC game; for maps and locale. Story is mostly short areas in the following districts of ~~Waterdeep~~^* Neverwinter; The Blacklake Docks, Beggar's Nest, and Undermountain.

Levels will be handed out after every in game day. Loot will be largely over cap. Quests will be quite straight forward and focus will be on PC choices, within the scope of the areas given.

Forgotten Realms characters only, but knowledge of the world is not that big of deal. I'm not using 98% of it myself, it's just a backdrop. Just no Kalashtar or Warforged is all. :) Plus grey elves don't exist, but sun elves do...

^*oops! Got a little confused there...though Waterdeep will be a later chapter, with Undermountain.

This sounds like a really intriguing idea. So one encounter might be in d20, but another might be in a D6 pool system, depending on how the next GM in sequence decides to move the story?

What sort of timeline would you expect for conversion? Or Would you expect that the majority of the conversion from system to system would be interpretive / RAI over written rules?
