Setting
Swords and sorcery mixed with Pokemon. Magimon, short for magic monsters.

You have the Magimon Guild (like the Pokemon League), with Magimon centers, gyms, trainers, Magimon balls, and other Pokemon type things, plus swords and sorcery type stuff, such as magic, feudal empire, nobles, swordplay, ancient ruins and dungeons, treasure, races other than humans, etc.

The setting is more gritty and harsh than Pokemon, with death and injury being possible and seen outside "official" duels (which follow certain rules similar to real world combat sports).


Rules
Pathfinder and Spheres of Power with moderate homebrew modifications.

Health system puts the gritty in the game.

Advancement is altered so you can gain versatility from leveling classes separately from gaining raw numerical power (which comes from narrative achievements of overcoming obstacles to significant personal motivations). This allows many levels to be gained while staying in the gritty levels of power. No more gleefully hopping off cliffs and laughing at the insignificant damage, even when you reach level 50.

Many things like Bab and Magic are skills, and similar to work right in the new advancement scheme, with a few minor alterations.

Looking for

I have one solo player already, and I'm looking for additional solo players or small groups, each in their own thread, but shared campaign world and ooc threads.

I will primarily be posting weekends (fri-mon), with mid-week being unreliable.

At the time of posting this, the game just started and I'm in the process of posting the full homebrew and setting details.
