The great realm of Midland was forged in ages past by the gods of old.  Each god lent their power to craft the perfect world where all things would have a place, falling into a deep slumber after their labors.

However, as the world neared completion sinister forces were drawn to the glorious creation.  They sought the power of the sleeping gods.
Hordes of unspeakable beasts and demons ravaged the lands and peoples the gods had left behind.  Only one god remained to change Midland's fate...

Deezzicks, the many-eyed god of Fairness and Balance, had overseen the other gods so that their contributions would be shared.  When the demons invaded, his divinity that made him equal to the strongest gods also limited his strength against lesser foes.  To preserve the balance of the world and the lives of his fellow gods, he buried his kin deep within the heart of the world and filled each hole with his own flesh, forming vast labyrinths flooded with mana.

The divinity of a god was too great a lure: the demons rushed into the newly formed dungeons, fighting even amongst themselves for the places deep down where the divinity was the richest.

With his last act, Deezzicks began to slumber as his fellow gods had.  His last murmurs echoed across the world of Midland, a warning to the survivors of the invasion...

"My sacrifice has given you a chance.  I can do no more.  Before my divinity runs out... conquer the dungeons... Do not... let the gods... fall..."
