Horrors have existed since the dawn of Man...

They are the whispers in the darkness, inescapable, twisted reflections of humanity's dreams and nightmares. They are found in every culture, in every land. Few are as diverse, nor as conflicted as the American Horror. A Land of hope and despair. A country capable of great heroism as well as great atrocities. Its ancient wilds and turbulent history birthed new, unimaginable Horrors, forced to make their way through a landscape broken by hatred for itself. Now, it is a curse they carry for themselves. But even the dammed seek salvation. For many, that salvation is Eden.

On the frontier of the Colorado Territory, isolated by two mountain ranges, and surrounded by unforgiving wilds, some have chosen to carve out lives for themselves. Far from the grip of 19th century society, the dammed try to live in peace, at lest, a very good facade of it. Here, the Ute speak of men cursed to walk as animals, the Cheyenne of the dead returning to devour the living, and Mexican Ranchers warn their children not to follow crying women to the shores of the Rio Grande. On the unknown frontier, fear and fantasy become one. Those that can search desperately for salvation. The question remains: is there salvation for them at all?

Welcome to 19th Century America, where industry propels a young nation into an uncertain future. It's past is already soaked in the blood of its people, the nightmare of the Civil War only 7 years past. A new age dawns for America, but the American people are not always what they seem. Rumors of Gold, peace and salvation lure all types of creatures from their hiding places. A small town holds promise, but also secrets of its own. What are you hoping to find in Eden? Are you a Horror, wearing the mask of a human, wishing desperately to be at peace with yourself? Or, are you a human being, realizing in the aftermath of all you've done, that you are the greatest Horror of them all?

Ghosts of America is a Supernatural world with themes akin to World of Darkness and Monsterhearts with free-form mechanics. There will be optional GM-Run plots to explore as well as a sandbox town to craft your own stories in. There may be future time-jumps through American History in order to explore the full breadth of immortal living.
