You are a citizen of Asphodel, one of the millions of faces passing by on the streets day by day. Are you new, or have you lived in the city for quite some time? Are you a human or maybe a godling ? Are you part of the rumored Resistance? Are you neutral, and simply wish to live your life in Asphodel in peace? Are you a Titan sympathizer, with political ties to the New Gods?
In Asphodel, the possibilities are endless.
Introduction:
Asphodel, a city built on the ruins of New York City, New York, is one of the four major cities established by the New Gods. After NYC was flattened during the war between the Old Gods and the New, the New Gods chose to replace it with one of their own.
Built and run by Breya, the new goddess of the sky and leader of the New Gods (Zeus' replacement), Asphodel is a hub of human and Titan activity. Breya rules Asphodel with an iron fist, keeping the mortals securely under her thumb. During the day humans traverse the city, but at night Breya's monstrous soldiers roam the streets and tunnels, looking for Resistance forces.
A hub of human activity, the city is an easy place to blend in, for those who wish to do so. It is rumored that a faction of the Resistance has taken up residence in the ruins of Old New York, in the tunnels beneath Asphodel. While it is also rumored that some of the Old Gods still live and have taken up residence beneath the city with the Resistance, the humans brush it off as hopeful nonsense.
How It Works
As stated in the Game Info (
link to another game), Reign of the Titans is a continuation of a past game called Rise of the Titans. Much like in Rise, players will have the option to play as godlings/demigods; however, unlike in Rise, players will also have the option to play as humans (and possibly other mythological species that can pass as human, on a case by case basis).
Overall, this game is meant to be a player-driven freeform with an overarching storyline that the players may be a part of, but are not required to do so. Like most freeform games out there, players will have the option to do whatever they choose to do- provided it remains within the guidelines established in the Rules Thread (
link to a message in another game).
While this is intended to be a player-driven game, I (and any other GM(s) that may join the game in the future) will be controlling a few NPCs here and there to get the ball rolling on certain plot points. As previously stated, players are not required to interact with NPCs, but they are more than welcome to if they choose to join the plot.
Though there will be an overarching plot, players are welcome to create their own plots and run them -as long as they discuss it with the GM(s) beforehand- or simply go about their business as a neutral bystander.
