Gantz (Ultra-Violent Semi-Posthumous Philosophical Mystery)

Sinclair Davis stretched out her arm to hail a cab, but as it zipped by it splashed a puddle of water at her.  "Son of a--!" She yelled as dirty water slapped her ankles and sunk into her shoes.  She looked down at her nylons and her black high-heel shoes with despair.  There was nothing she could do to amend the unsettling discomfort.  With a heavy sigh she continued down the sidewalk, her heals clicking and clacking with each stride.  She held a certain air of pride in her strut, after all she was a drop-dead gorgeous bombshell blonde.  Her tight black skirt and white blouse were the trademark office attire she wore as a corporate secretary.  A black leather purse hung from her elbow.  She retrieved a Sony smartphone from it, swiped her passcode, and selected the Uber app.  "Screw this, I'm not waiting for a lousy cab."

Minutes later a black sedan pulled up.  "Sinclaire?" The driver asked through the rolled down window.  "Yes," She said scurrying over, her tight skirt inhibiting her strides.  She hopped in the back and settled comfortably, relieved to be out of the chilly damp night air.  There was scarcely a word exchanged between her and the driver as he took her to her destination.  Everything was handled by the app.  She'd be at her destination before she knew it... or so she thought.  The car had taken a couple of unusual turns.  It took her a while to realize that they weren't heading in the expected direction.

"What's going on?  This isn't the way..."  She leaned forward to look at the driver's GPS.  The driver's face was ugly with a scar gouging his left cheek.  He had a kind of sneer as he glanced back at her.  "What's the meaning of this?" She asked irritably.

There was a flash of white, a napkin in the driver's hand.  He twisted in his seat and launched on top of her smothering her face.  Her cries were muffled, and soon a haze shrouded around her suffocating into pitched darkness.

The next thing she saw was a room full of strangers, and in the center of that room... a black orb.

Gantz is a manga with one of the most interesting concepts I've seen.  It's captivated my imagination for years, and I've made a few attempts already at roleplaying within its setting.  This time I'll take it slow so as not to over-commit.  I'm going to focus on myself, and on writing.  If you're interested in joining me, then check out my game.  But don't rely on what you think you know.  There will be twists and mysteries in this variation that seeks to cut to the core of what really inspired me in the first place.  I'm not interested in typical roleplaying, but deep immersive storytelling.  Be warned, death comes for us all...

I'm 33 years old, and I've been roleplaying since the age of 16.  I take godmodding and metagaming very seriously.  Realism is something I strive for, and quality over quantity.  The music chimes; the black orb calls; will you live to uncover the mystery behind it all?

With one player so far we're just getting situated in the room.  There's time for others who join to get into the room before the first mission starts.  We're going at a slow pace, as I was hesitating about continuing due to time constraints in my life.  But the focus is on quality not quantity.  I'd like to have a story that I can actually look back on and enjoy rereading, rather than a game that's just instant gratification and escapism.

-Bump-

So far there haven't been any more requests to join.  I'll be keeping the game open as we continue at a slow pace focusing on quality writing.  I'm not going to limit the number of players that join, but I will not accept anyone who can't produce half-decent writing quality.
