The world was just like you knew it. Everything was in its place. There was order.

Then Celluptol decided the days of order were up. That bastard god, demon, or whatever, is the one to blame. It came down to Earth simply because it could. It said that order made it "itchy". Most people who looked at it either died as a squirming mass of flesh and gore, or turned to live as a squirming mass of flesh and gore.

Society collapsed, nations went to ruin. The old world is gone, and this new world writhes in pain.

Welcome to Writhe a game about the post-apocalypse world filled with all sorts of unnatural horrors. It has been five generations since the initial arrival of Celleptol, the being of corruption. Most people and animals have become mutants in a way, some more than others. Mutants live to scrape out a bleak existence with most sapient life turning to either infighting or seclusion.

Camps, villages, and towns dot the lands, most either in or nearby the ruins of past humanity.  Mindless monsters roam the landscape, in search of something, anything to ravage and gobble up.
