Solo Super Mega Genre Crossover Game

In a Life Less Ordinary, you're born into a world of wonder and mystery. A world where Superman hasn't been seen since the 90s, but one in which Godzilla still leaves Monster Island every few years. A world where it's rumored that the latest generations of Nexus replicants can pass the Voight test. A world where the Bay Harbor Butcher went missing five years ago, and Millenials grew up never fearing Hannibal the Cannibal.

It's a world where the government is finally admitting that mutants aren't a hoax, where scientist Reed Richards is about to test the first FTL drive with three of his friends, a world in which The Batman stalked Gotham City back in the 30s.

A Life Less Ordinary is a world where many of the events of comics, movies, books, and television happened, are happening, or are yet to come.

A Life Less Ordinary is a homebrew black-box mostly solitary character-driven sandbox game set in a fictionalized contemporary setting. Let's break that down:

Homebrew Black Box:
The game is run in a homebrew system, with the mechanics kept largely hidden from the players. You will understand your character's capabilities as well as the character themself does, presented to you narratively. The game is not freeform, arbitrary, or abstract; the gears are just hidden inside a black box you can't see into.

Mostly Solitary: This is not a team game. You're largely on your own, assisted by whatever NPCs you befriend. You don't control them either, and you can trust them as well as you can trust anyone. There are other human players, but your stories will intersect only rarely, and it's your call whether to work together or separately.

Character-Driven Sandbox Game: There are no railroad tracks. There is nothing you are supposed to be doing. You will encounter plot hooks, but how you engage with them is your choice. Therefore your character must be motivated enough to seek out the kinds of things you want to do in the game.

Fictionalized Contemporary Setting: The game is set in a variation of the real world. There are monsters and superheroes and magic and weird science. See the setting thread for details.
