Adult, Pathfinder, Hypothetical Modern to Fantasy Game

It was a spellbook Harold was looking for, he'd seen it once before, and in a panic, he was frantically looking for it. His master had been killed by the attack, and as village folk panicked and were cut down or fled for their lives the apprentice mage wanted to do something, anything to help. It had been years since High Moor had seen a goblin, much less had any danger, and to make it worse, some sort of snake man was directing them.

He found it and fumbled through the pages, and found what might help. He began to incant the summoning spell, and then....

Perhaps you were driving a car, or sitting in the library between class, or working at your desk, or laying in bed, asleep and dreaming. Whatever you were doing, suddenly you were not doing it anymore. You found yourself in the ruins of some sort of town or village, the buildings burned, some still smoldering, and it was quiet. Off in one direction were some huge mountains, and in the other, wide open fields that looked like they had wheat growing in them.

The town's roads were dirt, and you saw wagons and horses in fenced in yards. No people though. Then you looked at yourself, and those with you...

This is a Pathfinder game where modern meets fantasy. It is not a game about bringing new inventions or electricity, or technology to a fantasy world, it is about your characters finding themselves ripped from our world, and deposited in a fantasy world and having to solve problems and become a team on several quests.

Harold the apprentice mage bungled a Monster Summoning spell, and you are the summoned creatures, taken from Earth and brought to the world of Mrerik.

All the rest you'll have to figure out as you go along.

Thing is, you've all got new bodies and abilities, even if you're not sure how to use them, and you definitely don't know the local customs, boy do you stick out.

It will be played using the Pathfinder Rules.

Your characters are here from Earth, in their new bodies, as the result of a Monster Summoning Spell gone wrong. You may actually play the person from Earth, arriving in their Human body if you wish. You will not have any knowledge of the setting, or why you are here, and your pcs may not even think it's real for awhile as they adjust. You'll know your native languages, but you won't know why you know them. It's a shock to the system, so to speak.

If you choose to play a race other than yourself (perhaps your character has a favorite character in an rpg and that is what they arrived in the body of) then you will pick from Core races only, no exceptions. However, you will still have no knowledge of the setting, or why you can speak certain languages, etc.

Characters are second level, standard gold for second level.

It will be 20 point buy, as the world of Mrerik is a lot like Greyhawk, the original DnD Setting. Most of the village priests are adepts, and a lot of the soldiers, etc. warriors/commoners.

2 traits.

No summoners, alchemists or gunslingers. Unchained versions of the Rogue, Monk and Barbarian.

No third party material.

No evil PCs, and No CN pcs.

What do I want in an RTJ?

What I want are a couple of things.

Who is your character on Earth? What's their story?

Who is your character when they arrive via the spell? Is it the same character, who will have to learn who they are, and what they can do to survive? Do they want to seek the quickest way home if possible, or will they embrace this new life and meet the challenges head on?

Or, is your character going to be totally different, perhaps they were in the middle of playing their favorite rpg and that was what was in their mind, and suddenly they arrive as that character as far as body, abilities and skills, but with the knowledge of their Earth life?

An idea of your intended class, and potential progression.

This game is intended to be a fun exploration of modern people, suddenly finding themselves in a fantasy world, either as themselves, with a totally different race/body that was given to them, and they have to figure out how to adapt.

It is not intended as a simulation where folks from a modern world attempt to modernize a fantasy setting.
