Looking for new players for a new game
Tyranny of Dragons is an epic story told across two adventure products: Hoard of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat. Characters begin at 1st level, and by the end of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, they should be 8th level and ready to continue with The Rise of Tiamat. The game is set in the Forgotten Realms on Faerûn's western shore---the Sword Coast. A thin strip of civilization stretches down this coast, where widely spaced cities are arranged like beads on a string. A combination of roads and wagon tracks loosely connect the cities that stretch from Luskan in the north to Calimport in the south, passing through Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, and other great ports along the way.
I'm of the opinion that Hoard of the Dragon Queen is a poorly written adventure, occasionally too railroady with bad encounter design. I intend to change the encounters and modify parts of the story to make it flow better in a play-by-post environment, and I'll probably be more generous with rewards because I feel the adventure as written holds back on them, at least in early levels. But with that said, I would still prefer to have players who haven't played the adventure modules because they are full of spoilers.
I'm going to invite 3 to 7 players. I don't have all official material yet, and would prefer if I get character concepts that fit the material I have access to. Because of that, I'm going to limit character concepts to the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide, the Monster Manual, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide. If you have a concept outside of these books, run it by me anyway. I'm not that stubborn. I will prioritize players who haven't played Tyranny of Dragons (I personally haven't played the second part, The Rise of Tiamat, yet, but this first part will take quite some time to get through; giving me plenty of time to catch up on that), and I hope that the players that join will try to avoid spoiling themselves by reading the adventure modules. Since I will change things around some, it may not be that big of a deal if you're familiar with some spoilers, as long as you try to avoid letting that information affect your decisions in game.
WOW! I got 25 applications in a day! I've filled all slots now, but thank you everyone for showing interest in the game and taking your time to apply!
