"They have some kind of poison!!"

Prizzard steps back as fresh blood re-coats the scythe, then with a few movements and incanted words, the blade also erupts with an electrical charge.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Prizzard, you feel weak for a moment as you can literally feel something in your veins trying to overcome you from the wounds you have received. Almost as if it is a live entity in and of itself. You concentrate with all of your ability, trying to stop whatever it is that threatens you. After a huge effort, it seems to be enough and you are able to prepare to do battle against your opponent once more. Fortunately for you, as it tries to finish the job, the slick wet ground of the tunnels throws it off balance and it is forced to try to regain its balance instead of attacking you.

Raknesh: you are doing well against your foe and hit him squarely in the chest with your blade, a deep and penetrating hit. The thing shrieks in fury, and though you have certainly hurt it greatly that does not stop it from seeking revenge. With a wounded, yet powerful blow, it slices you hard across your clavicle. You feel a burning sting at the feel of it and like Prizzard, you notice the strange invading feeling of the poison entering your blood stream.

Jett proceeds to help with Prizzard's enemy, slicing it in the back of the thigh and somehow avoiding injury. Over the din you all hear the boy shout, More will be coming! They are on their way!

ooc: Roll and post for your next two rounds please

Raknesh hears the boy's warning

'We must hurry, they are much more resistant that I believed...'

"IF you can fight, we could use some help!" he says, while working on his away and hit strategy.
He can feel his body fighting the poison, not certain yet of how well it does.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Prizzard: You miss with one of your attacks but your next does hit true. You slice the creature across the chest and it screeches in fury as it lunges at you. It manages to stab its weapon into your arm and you once again feel the poison attempting to do its work. Still, you have hit him, hard and he is starting to look a bit worried, in a ferocious bestial kind of way. The other fighters with you are starting to gang up on it as well, which is making this battle finally go well. It is clear the thing doesn't have much longer to live.

Raknesh: You manage to fight off the poison, but you can't help but wonder what it is you just fought and what it would have done to you. One of your attacks hits, and you manage to graze it with your mind blade. Jett is also helping you, and your foe is likewise starting to fail, though there is still plenty of danger left. As you continue your battle, Halek heeds your call for help, though he looks terrified. He pulls out a small dagger and proceeds to bravely dart in and out of the battle, slashing at the hamstrings of the creatures and actually doing an impressive job. Thus far he also manages to avoid being struck in return, though whether that is from luck or skill you do not know. Finish them quickly! We need to run! He pants.

ooc: Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you guys. Real life is going to be a bit stressful for the next month, but I will do what I can. In the meantime, two more rolls please, as well as any intentions :D

Prizzard again steps back, feeling very weak. He casts his spells on his weapon once more and takes the same defensive stance, only striking if the enemy approaches him.

"Well done, Halek, but stay out of trouble ! I was talking to the adults. I don't want you to be hurt!"

Raknesh sticks with his strategy, his face altering between the darkness of the tunnel and the pale light of the blade materialization.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Prizzard manages to fight off the poison, but is feeling quite unsteady. Halek looks pleased with Raknesh's praise and tries to stay out of the way. In the meantime, Raknesh continues to fight well, as does Jett and between them and the help from the strangers you are helping, the two creatures are dropped. It is good timing too as Halek begins tugging and pulling at you all to hurry. You hear the approaching sounds of running from down the corridors. The woman with the group turns and leads you down the corridor, explaining that she grew up down here and knows many secret tunnels and escape routes. She pulls you into a grate and you all are forced on your hands and knees as you crawl quickly away from the source of the sound. Jett closes the grate behind you just in time as the sounds close in on your location.

ooc: roll hide and move silently please as well as thoughts and intentions.

Used to move stealthily, Raknesh has very little trouble to progress in the secret tunnel.

Not willing to attract attention by unwanted talk, he keeps to work with his mental link.

'That was a close call, but it might be for the best. If the girl really knows her way well, we might get out of here more quickly and in a better spot.

Keep your eyes and ears open, tough, we are not safe yet.

Halek, I count on you to warn us if you sense them coming.'

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

As you start through the crawlspace, Prizzard accidentally drops his weapon, which is still charged with his spell. The result is a loud boom as brilliant light emanates in a bright flash as the spell is dissipated. The creatures definitely take notice. Halek's thoughts sound off clearly in your heads. Go go go go!!! They heard that! We have to lose them now! The woman who leads you seems to have the same idea, despite not being able to hear Halek's warning. She curses sharply and hisses at you to follow her. Come on! We'll try to lose them! Hurry!

ooc: Please roll a general dexterity and constitution check both of you.

Cursing profusely - but mentally - Raknesh urges them to move forward, hoping his faith in the woman's knowledge of the palce is well placed.
He has no trouble moving through the difficult terrain, but he feels strangely feeble, and the short but intense fight should not have been enough to tire his body that much.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

You all scramble through the narrow passageway as fast as you can but the effort along with your wounds is tiring. You can hear the grate being ripped off of the opening and you can hear the scrabbling sounds of pursuit. You have a good distance between you thus far, but that won't last long at the rate everyone is tiring, especially Raknesh in particular. Seeing his friend struggling, Halek squirms back to him and pushes past him with remarkable dexterity. You'll never make it! Hurry! I'll be right behind you! Then to your surprise he starts to head towards the coming enemy, moving rapidly on his hands and knees a look of pure determination on his face.

sorry for the delay, new job: waking very early and getting back late.

'Oh no, you are not!  What do you have in mind?'

Raknesh stops Halek before he goes past him, and they continue to progress.
'Let's talk about it first!'

'Prizard, do you have some spell that would help to block the way, or at least hinder their progression?'

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Halek squirms as Raknesh catches up to him. He is trembling and sweat pours down his face. It's ok! Let me go! I don't know what will happen if you don't! He pants looking very alarmed at the situation. Jett has noticed that you are lagging and has slowed to see what the trouble is. During all of this you notice with alarm that young Halek has started to glow. Raknesh, as you struggle to hold him your whole body feels as though it is being shocked. The hair on the back of your neck stands on end, though it is not so much painful as it is startling. In the meantime Prizzard is working on his spell and thus far is not interrupted.

ooc: No worries Raknesh- I just finished studying and consequently passing a huge certification only to find that I was approved to buy a house and am moving at the end of the month. Gotta love real life eh?

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Raknesh stops holding Halek's arm, surprised by the glow and the strange feeling.

"Swore to me you will be back with us and won't risk your life and I shall let you go, as you clearly are more than a simple boy.

But do not cross the trap Prizzard put in place, it might help you get away while they struggle with it, and with some luck are slowed down."

It cost him much to let him go, and he will not allow him to risk his live.  Still, the boy knew much more than any of them, in strange ways, and he had to trust him...

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

ooc: Thanks! :D

The boy gives you a quick and desperate nod as if to say ok ok just let me go! As soon as he is released he scrambles toward the creatures, who by now are closing fast. His skin is turning a blue/white color and is glowing so bright you are starting not to be able to see his features. He stops before Prizzard's trap, somehow knowing where it is and then everything is eclipsed in bright light and you hear him scream. What's more you hear the creatures scream too and before anything can be done the light is gone and you look up the corridor to see two piles of ashes and Halek laying still, his eyes closed.

Still seeing black spots, Raknesh rushes toward the boy, looking for signs of life.

'Foolish boy, what in the name of the gods did you do ?!  Don't even dare to die before I can lecture you!  And thank you...'

He tries to carry him, but with his poor strength to begin with and the strange weariness that overcame him, he has to let Prizzard do the lifting.

'We must hurry we can't be sure those were the only ones after us.'

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

You manage to hurry despite the small space available and the boy burdening your progress. The group you have rescued looks to be quite wide eyed and shocked about what they have seen. Jett looks no less surprised and curious but the time for questions is later. You make it through the tunnels alright and run in to no more trouble on your path, which surprises you. Jett makes the comment that the place should be overrun by now but there is not another soul in sight, if these creatures even have souls. At last you travel several miles and the woman with you informs you that you will soon be at an entrance that takes you outside the city walls. You find yourselves at a ladder that goes straight up and with much difficulty carrying the boy, you are at last outside. It appears you have been in the tunnels a long time as the light of dawn is rising in the sky. You are roughly a mile from the city walls and you can see smoke and fire eminating from within. You are not the only ones to escape it seems for there are still people fleeing the gates and people seen in the distance on horses and whatnot, headed the opposite direction.

The group you are with bids you their thanks and proceeds to head north, where they will warn the nearest villages and cities. Jett informs you that the time to go to Iatharias is now. We need to go find the oracle. We need to regroup and warn her of this coming horror. If anyone can handle them it is her calvary. Will you come with me?

Sorry I had not seen the update
'There isn't much we can do here.  And I don't see another path.  I just wish we could find someone versed in the healings arts to look at Halek sooner, but I fear we won't find many people until we reach Iatharias.

Do you have mounts hidden nearby, by luck? I don't think we will find ours anytime soon.'
