He spins the scythe off his back and rests it across his shoulders. "I would rather have not endangered the child." And then to the boy the waves his hand for him to return to him. "Behind us!"

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

From his hiding spot Amadeus speaks out to the boy, "What's your name? Perhaps I can write it for you?" Amadeus walks out a few moments later adjusting the button on his pants. "It's not polite child to point at someone while they are trying to take care of their business."
Amadeus makes his way towards the camp hands outstretched to show he is unarmed.

"And who might you be?" asked Raknesh, not very friendly.  Too many people tried to sneak on them for his comfort, and the first one said he wanted to kill one of them, so Raknesh was not in a very good mood.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

ooc: Lol Ammie :D

Ic: The boy moves obediently behind Prizzard, though he does not seem concerned or afraid in the least. Loden, Jett, and Ezran all draw their weapons, though you notice that Loden never turns his back on Prizzard for an instant, and he is sure to keep him in eyesight at all times, save for a quick glance or two at Amadeus. It is Jett who speaks, shaking his head. There's something going on here. Either there is a conspiracy or this is the Gods dipping their fingers in our fates. I find it very odd that we are all gathered around this burning corpse at the same time. Either someone knows something about this, or something unnatural has led us all here, even if it is through the likes of unjust men such as this Koros fellow. He arches an eyebrow in Prizzard's direction.

He places the weapon back on his back upon seeing the unarmed man. "Perhaps, but I have my own agenda and goals. May the so-called gods be cursed if they hinder me for selfish reasons."

OOC See I can be easy to get along with. At times. Unlike the last Amadeus.

"I'm Amadeus. Yes you could be right on both accounts. This could be the gods doing or this could be a conspiracy. This could be the gods conspiring to eat us for dinner. This poor soul here might not have been enough for a full dinner. Though our sour friend might not be as sweet a meal as the gods are used to."

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

ooc: Yeah, the last Amadeus was....interesting? ;)

ic: Loden frowns at the conversation, looking like he agrees with Amadeus's conclusions. I do fear that this may be related to some kind of deity worship. I have heard of ancient sacrifices. Perhaps that tradition has not completely died out. He muses. Still, I need to know what you intend Prizzard. If you are going to hunt me down later for Koros I may as well deal with you now. If you swear on your life and the things dearest to you that you will let this be, then I will spare you. I may even find a way to help you in return for any assistance you could give us on this matter. He gestures towards the corpse.

Raknesh: The boy seems to be staring at you rather oddly...as if in deep thought and almost with an air of recognition. It is a disconcerting and confusing thing coming from this strange lad.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

He spoke softly, despite the boy being within easy earshot even at this volume. "Useless killing is not a hobby of mine and neither is live capture a skill I have practice in. I only took the job in order to gain rare and important information." He removed is hood with a flick and continued talking, seeming relieved by the fresh air "Surprising you identified me despite my covering. I admit I am Prizzard, also known as The Shadow Scythe by the bounty boards. Now, if you could help me find the information I seek, this contract with Koros would be meaningless to me. After all, it is unlikely he could do much about a wandering bounty who dropped contract." Upon revealing his face, it is hard not to notice that he is not born of this continent, but instead from some wintry part of the continent, Faerun.

IC Amadeus carefully walks closer to the fire and kneels down to look at the body more closely. "A sacrifice might would have some sort of marking on the body, religious writings, of sorts" Amadeus says to no one in particular. "Or some sort of ceremony had to be performed. Otherwise all one would manage to do would be to set the body on fire. Unless there are cannibals about." He lifts his head to look at the boy with a grin, "How do you like your meat cooked? Medium or well done?"

"You should not make jokes when you don't know much" said Raknesh his mouth tin with distaste.
"We have many reasons to believe this could be, indeed, linked to canibalism. Even if your other ideas might be true too.

I'm afraid you put your hand into a bloody mess, but we could use people with your skills, to serve their country, and maybe more."

he looked at Loden for confirmation. After all, he might have some objections with those fellows.

Raknesh: The boy is silent a long moment and you think he isn't going to answer but eventually he does, speaking in a quiet voice you can barely hear, as if he is not used to talking much. I was told you would come to save me. He whispers, and a strange chill goes up your spine at his odd words. Not so much from the boy's presence, but rather some unconscious pull from within. As if fate had meant something for you and you just became aware of it. It is a very confusing and conflicting feeling, as you are both confused and at peace at the same time.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Amadeus and Raknesh: You notice that Prizzard is indeed quite foreign looking, not from this continent, which is unusual indeed. Loden seems to agree with Raknesh's offer towards Amadeus. I think it is some combination of sacrifice and cannibilism, though I am unsure of who did what to this poor soul. But you should know stranger, that there is a horde of beings, not quite men so I've been told, who are coming to wreak horrors such as this on Halidar. What say you, do you wish to help save the city?

Prizzard: Loden nods thoughtfully at your words. Yes, I have heard of you Prizzard. There are many who would collect a high bounty on your head. But money does not interest me, nor does sending a man to prison who does not truly deserve it. You are not the most innocent man I have met, but you would be useful in our current fight. If you can help us save Halidar, then I will do my utmost to help you in your search, and see to it that Koros does not kill you. Do not underestimate the man. He has a repuation to protect after all, and will not have your betrayal go unpunished. What do you say man, are you in?

"The cannibalistic nature of this could be part of the ritual. Considering the things i have seen today I would not be surprised. But saving the city and my personal interests seem to be pointing in the same direction."

Raknesh is a little taken aback when the boy finally speaks, but oddly he also feel a relief of a kind.  His travel might have found their goal.

Still, he had to learn a little more before complete certainty.

"Who told you that?  What danger I am suppose to save you from?"

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Prizzard: Loden listens to your words with a frown. I have heard much about you here and there from various sources. Being the watchman of the empress of Halidar makes me particularly knowledgeable about any who may pose a threat to the citizens of the city. The business in that village was a nasty affair. But I have heard of decent actions of yours, and I will not judge you for something that has no proof until I can know your nature better. We'll make a deal, I won't try to kill you in your sleep if you show me the same courtesy. He finishes with a small smile.

Amadeus: ooc: Yes, you assume correctly :D

ic: Jett listens to your words with a nod and looks curious. Cannibalistic rituals do fit with what I've seen, though I have to say when I saw my friend eaten alive, there didn't seem to be anything really religious about that....But then they didn't take the time to burn the corpse or arrange anything like we're seeing here. I'm wondering if cannibalism is more to them then just a ritual now. Perhaps it wasn't always this way, but trust me they seem to have a taste for human flesh that is not...pious. He pauses. Out of curiosity, what exactly are your personal interests praytell?

Raknesh: The boy looks at you with his large, wise eyes and you know that this boy has seen far too much for his young years. In a quiet voice, he answers your question. The end.

ooc: Roll a spot check everyone

18:13, Today: Raknesh Kaltash rolled 26 using 1d20+8. spot.

The boy's short answer is nothing if not disturbing.

"I currently have no idea of the end you spoke of, but be assured I shall protect you from any possible arm as long as you stay close to me, and even if we are somehow separated, I shall find you again." he says with as much confidence and certainty as he can manage.

"I am Raknesh, from the south region.  What is your name? For I can't continue calling you 'boy'.  I don't even know your age."
he adds, trying to put warmth in his words, to reassure the boy.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Amadeus: Jett gives an understanding nod. Well I have a feeling you will definitely be fidning plenty of information about that. This happening is surely not natural, though the magic may be darker than you may wish to be involved in.

Raknesh: The boy answers you with his quiet, serious way. I dont' know how old I am, or my real name. Some call me Halek though. He gives a small shrug.

Amadeus and Raknesh: You both notice something as you study the area. It is largely overgrown, but you see a metallic door like shape in the grass several feet away. It has a large circular ring that looks like it could be used to pull it open and it seems to lead underground.

ooc: Sorry Prizzard, you didn't see anything ;)

"A most curious place to find a door, don't you think?"

Again his luminescent sword materialize.  "We should check it, the people we are looking for might have used it."

"Perhaps. Doors like this have a habit of having nasty surprises attached to them in my experience with these types of things." Amadeus examines the door carefully hoping to not stumble upon any of these surprises. "Which by the way is very little but still one cant be too cautious."
