Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Raknesh: The boy gives a shrug. You may call me whatever you wish sire. He gives you an expression as though he thinks of you as his master of sorts.

Everyone: If you choose to enter the door, you find that it opens to reveal a step ladder of sorts, leading down into pitch blackness. If you decide to search, you will find yourselves in a massive room with various columns and archways. It looks to be some kind of ancient temple and it is surprisingly intact considering it looks quite old. It smells musty and like a tomb that hasn't been opened in years, but upon examination you do see footprints in the thick dust on the floor.

Amadeus: You see some curious script written on the wall in a back corner that is fairly hidden from sight.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

"The dark lord comes in a rain of blood. Let his followers veil themselves in death and rule in the hell to come." Amadeus reads aloud and turns to follow into the darkness. "Either this is the place, or this is a meeting spot for some very poor poets." Peering carefully into the darkness he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a single gold piece. After a few moments of muttering and gesturing the coin begins to glow brightly. Amadeus follows through the door.

Well this certainly sounds like a cheerful place. Mutters Jett. Why do I get the feeling we are going to regret coming down here? Despite the comment, Jett follows just the same, looking cautious and a bit on the terrified side but clearly trying to hide it.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

As you follow the footsteps, you find that they lead down a corridor into a dark hallway. Amadeus' coin helps a great deal, but you can't help but wonder what is lurking in the shadows beyond its reach. You have a very strange feeling that you are being watched, and as you investigate you find that you are in a long hallway with a corridor of statues on either side, lined up in a strange gauntlet on either side of you. They are identical statues of women, beautiful and finely dressed, with dead eyes that seem to see you at the same time. It brings chills down your spine for some reason, though you can't explain why. At the end of the hallway there is a huge set of double doors that are slightly ajar, as if someone has been there recently.

OOC: Any pattern or theme to the statues, such as outlining the steps of a movement, all looking to be in pain, or anything else?

"Casual, bust in, or tread carefully?" His walk seems uninterrupted by his speech or preceeding thought. He stops just 30' before the doors, waiting for reply.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Prizzard: You don't see anything unusual about the statues in regards to any patterns or anything like that. They all have very serene, expressionless faces.

Raknesh: You don't hear anything but you can make out the outline of benches, almost like church pews, lining the inside of the room. You can't see much more than that without opening the door the rest of the way, but the footsteps lead inside and disappear from sight. Also, you smell something extremely foul and unpleasant. It is the familiar smell of death and rotting flesh...

ooc: Everyone besides Raknesh, please roll a listen and spot check.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Raknesh: As you are still investigating the room you suddenly see a flash of movement from the corner of your eye. You turn to see the statues behind you moving towards everyone alarmingly fast. Their faces are still and calm, but they wield deadly looking blades as they approach everyone...

Amadeus and Prizzard: You don't realize the situation until it is too late as the statues come rushing up behind you to attack.

ooc: Surprise round. Raknesh, you may roll init. and do your action as usual. The rest of you are flat footed and get no action this round. Roll initiative for the next round though, and I am going to try a new method for fights to make them move faster. Please roll for 3 rounds at a time and post those rolls for me and also your actions/intents. Raknesh, this means you will be rolling for 4 rounds due to your surprise round. Also, because I am still somewhat unfamiliar with some of your classes, go ahead and post anything relevant in regard to your attacks so I don't have to take forever to research everything you do. This should make our fights move smoothly and quickly. Thanks guys, and let the battle begin!

From the beginning, combat expertise at 3, raising AC to 19. If they seem to have damage reduction and arent dealing more than 20 damage over the 3 rounds, he will expend the extra 5hp for 3d6 on Blade of Blood.

Edit: Very edited strategy. On second thought my attack sounded a bit.. stupid, and out of charcter.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Raknesh does a decent job of warning everyone, and Amadeus in particular seems to do a good job reacting for he gets into the fray with little delay. He spends much of his time dodging, though he does get a decent blow in, however he does get grazed on the shoulder by one of the enemy’s swords. Raknesh does amazingly well, hitting each time he attempts and only receiving one wound in return on his thigh. Prizzard is able to hit twice with his scythe and the sound of it ringing off of the stone hurts your ears, though it does seem to damage them. His fight is a bit more bloody in that he receives two wounds on his back that look a bit nasty.  To your surprise, whenever you all hit your foes, they start to bleed, though they still look and feel of stone. It is a disconcerting thing for all of you. Loden seems to do quite well for himself, though Ezran and Jett seem to have been taken quite by surprise and therefore seem a bit off as they defend themselves. The boy stays in the corner with wide eyes, but makes no movement or sound. All of the statues are attacking by now, and it is close quarters and a stressful fight, especially in the dim lighting.

Ooc: Init.  Order as follows: Amadeus, Raknesh, Prizzard- next round!!

Deciding fewer enemies would be a better option than being overwhelmed by these bleeding statues, Prizzard glances to the rock Raknesh has put holes in. He waits for an opening, fighting carefully for the time being.

Shaking his left arm to get rid of the pain when he attempted to ward of a punch of one of the statues, Raknesh continues to launch his deadly darts.

with each materialization, his face is dimly lit by the blade, then darkness surrounds him again as the psyonically charged weapon leaves his arm toward his target.

Re: Chapter 2- Group 1- Hunting

Amadeus: You manage to give a good stab to your opponent with your dagger, but it fails to bring him down. You put a good deal of space between you, though he slashes at you with his short sword and grazes your shoulder as you move away. Unfortunately your scorching ray attempt misses, and the statues redouble their efforts.

Raknesh: You are doing quite well with your enemies, hitting twice and putting distance between you. The only direction you find to go is towards the mysterious room you were investigating. It is fairly dark, but there is enough light from the torches in the hall way and your blade to keep you unhindered. The boy follows you, and you manage to evade any blows this round.

Prizzard: You bring down your foe with a series of blows from your scythe. The statues do not seem to be shaken by your presence, but they do seem to be cautious of you. You manage to go unhit this round as well, though you wonder how long your luck with hold out.

You all notice your companions are doing tolerably well. Jett is taking some damage, but Loden has already felled two statues. It is clear that his skill is impressive indeed. He shouts to you all, Get into the chamber! There's no room in this hallway!

ooc: You guys seem to notice that the statues have very little mental ability, though Prizzard's psionic blade does plenty of damage and they do seem to be able to think as far as battle tactics. They express no emotion however, and they are not too concerned with their own safety, but rather in meeting their objectives. Fortunately they are relatively slow as well, and you feel confidant that you could outrun them should the opportunity present itself. Also, if you guys wouldn't mind helping me keep track of your current hit points as you post, that would be great. Thanks!
