Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

ooc: Sorry guys! Forgot to mention your attacks of opportunity. Feel free to take them and add them to your posts.

Loden, Jett, and Tanzy leave the vessel and try to keep the people from overrunning the boat. The rest of you thus far stay in the boat and fight your way from within, though it is not easy considering the instability of the footing. Raknesh manages to do significant damage to his nearest foe though, using his psychic weapon. The creature manages to look surprised as an alarming amount of blood drips from his wounds. It is the first time you register these things may be more than mindless zombies. By now the boat has reached the foes near the tunnel. If you all can manage to fight your way past them, escape should be relatively simple, provided they are not miraculously good swimmers of course. Judging by the way they flail through the water though, that's not something you need to worry about. In the meantime, more are coming, though fortunately they are not the fastest so there may be time to get out before there are too many of them.

ooc: There will be balance checks needed for the boat people when you roll your attacks please. In the meantime, go ahead and roll your attacks of opportunity as well as two rounds worth of rolls. Raknesh, if you don't mind, I'll count your roll to me as your attack of opportunity, so you just worry about 2 rounds. Don't forget to make balance checks each round except for Tanzy.

"Mist will only work with stealth not a fight..." Stefan mutters to himself as he sits down in the boat again, "But I think I can help clear the path at the very least.." He begans mumbling to himself his eyes unfocused as a swell lifts the boat and a series of sharp fins pass through the water towards any creature in the water....

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

The fight ensues quickly. Fortunately these things don't seem too terribly tough at the moment. They are a bit unmotivated in their attacks, which makes you wonder how in control of themselves they are or if they are under the goddess's influence. Tanzy, Loden, and Jett fight on dry land and seem to be doing fairly well for themselves. Dozens of the creatures have slipped into the water and are grabbing at you from either side of the boat. Everyone in the boat does a decent job with defending themselves, save for Prizzard, who takes a slash in the shoulder from clawing figners, and Halek who gets a rather nasty looking gash in his arm from one of the things who seems to be digging at his flesh greedily. The boy shrieks and pushes at it, trying to back away. This rocks the boat a bit and Raknesh unfortunately falls in the water, which is luckily only chest deep, but it is still valuable time lost that could be spent defending the boat and Halek. Stefan has summoned some impressive aid, for you see shark fins cutting through the water and moving quickly towards the creatures blocking the tunnel out. Blood colors the water as they thrash about, biting the crowd that flails at them in actual alarm. Some black bears are also called by the druid to aid the fighters on land, and you find yourselves grateful for the unexpected help. By now the boat is near the tunnel but there are enough creatures blocking the way that you aren't through yet. It looks like the way things are going however, especially with the sharks, that it won't be too long before you can break your way free. Stay near the boat! Loden calls to Tanzy and Jett. He fights his way close to the tunnel while still all land. We need to be ready to get back in when all of this is cleared! As you ready yourselves for your next attacks, you also become aware of a thick black mist quickly approaching you from the city...

ooc; so to sum up, Halek is being gnawed on, sharks are attacking the things grabbing at the boat, the land dwellers are doing well, Raknesh is in the water, and the tunnel is working it's way on being cleared. Please roll your next 2 moves as well as intentions. Also, I figured out a way to make posting a bit easier for me:
First, if your character sheet is not already there, please be sure to copy and paste it into your character details section. Then I don't have to try to remember where it is.

Second: Please post your attacks and such like this:

Attack= (then put your roll plus all applicable bonuses already added up for me)
Damage= Damage roll + any bonuses added to it
Current hit points left
Balance check for that round if you are on the boat
AC # (so I remember who has what without having to check sheets every time

Then leave a space and do it again for your second round.

If you have it simple and just leave the added #'s for me it saves me time from doing the math and picking apart what number goes with what roll, etc. I can see all of your die rolls in the dice roller anyway so I can always refer to that if I get confused, but if you just add up the attack total, damage total, and your hit points left, etc as well as your AC, I can just look at your post for everything I need and not jump around to your character sheet or the dice roller, etc. So, hopefully that makes sense for everyone. I just think it would help me move things along faster and I won't have to think! :D Let me know if you have questions or if I am in any way unclear. I've had a long day and may not be the most coherent right now.

Raknesh, emerging from the wather and coughing sees Halek's predicament and launches one of his mindblades toward the man attacking the teen boy.

He then will try to get back on the both, and will launch his 'mind daggers' while being in a 'one knee on the heart' position to help him keep his balance.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

The battle continues and by now the water is red with blood. The sharks dart back and forth in the water, taking chunks from the enemy and further clearing the tunnel. The boat is only a few feet away from escaping, stopped only by the bulk of enemies in the way, most of whom are now attacking the sharks, pulling at their flesh and not seeming to be too aware of the damage they are taking in return. It is quite a mess, and not one you exactly want to get in the middle of.

Prizzard manages to get a solid hit in to his enemy, the first blow landing hard and effectively. The second one is unbalanced as the boat lurches and rocks from the movement of the fight. Still, you swing clumsily as you try to regain yourself and it does manage to finish him off, for he was already doing poorly. You also are able to avoid getting hit yourself, though three of them certainly do try all at once. Fortunately they are not having the easiest time from their positions, although they are rocking the boat considerably.

Raknesh's mind blade pierces into the back of the thing biting Halek and it lets out an angry scream and slashes at you, his sharp nails claw at your neck, and though the wound is shallow, it stings like acid and you grunt in surprise at just how much it actually hurts. You climb clumsily in the boat and quickly get into position for another attack, but balancing being what it is, you find yourself setting up for your next move before being able to execute it. It's all you can do to keep yourself in a good fighting stance

Stefan: Your creatures are still doing well, though the sharks are taking a beating. The bears in particular are proving helpful. They are doing a decent job of blocking for your allies on land, and two of them are currently mauling their foes quite violently. Your concentration greatly lies in evading the hands of the things in the water around you, though one of them surprises you by lunging forward and dragging sharp fingernails down your side. You feel blood and an acid like pain that surprises you for such a puny type of weapon.

Tanzy moves like a whirlwind, her rapiers flashing almost too fast to follow. She is near the tunnel entrance by now, along with Loden and Jett who are not faring quite as well. She finishes off a creature that she had nicked earlier, crossing both of her blades and dragging them quickly through the thing's torso, her bloody blades ending at her sides as the lacerated corpse slumps at her feet.

Everyone: By now the mist is upon you, but you are pretty sure you can fight your way through the tunnel in the next short while. Loden barks at the land fighters to get in the water and help clear the way. Hands are grasping at you all from dozens of creatures who tug and pull at whatever they can to keep you there. It's all you can think about to keep from being overrun. The mist is only 70 yards away by now and as you look you see gray smokey figures with screaming, voiceless mouths and blood red eyes. Their misty arms are outstretched toward you and they are moving fast. All has truly gone to hell.

ooc: I'm going to do something a bit different here and give you guys a TEMPORARY +2 to damage and attack rolls for the next few rounds. Reason being, I am going to try to tweak things from time to time for realism, and frankly if hundreds of savage creatures and a mist of red eyed wraiths were trying to keep me from escape and it only took a few more feet to get away, I would be extra motivated. I am going to dub these adrenaline rushes for extreme circumstances like this, so enjoy the short bonuses and give me your next two rounds/ balances/ intentions and the like!

In an instinctive reaction, Raknesh puts his left hand on the wound on his neck in a futile attempt to lessen the pain.

It does not prevent him from counter-attacking and the blade barely has time to materialize before it find it's target.

Moving - carefully - toward Halek, he keeps his back on his and continue his work.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

The few moments of the fight that are left are fast and bloody. You all do well, striking your enemies and chopping your way to the opening. Tanzy in particular seems to be having an efficient time at hacking her way to the boat. The way is clear enough now that you can push your way through with only a few creatures tugging at you by the tunnel. Jett and Loden jump in the chest deep water and help to push the boat through, yelling for Tanzy to get inside. We've got to get back in the boat once we're out!. Loden barks to Jett and Tanzy. These things will try to follow us I'm thinking and we'll be quicker in water than they are as long as too many of them don't swarm the land. Does anyone have a way to close the tunnel after us?! As he speaks he, Tanzy, and Stefan are clawed at by the few creatures still close enough to hamper you. You feel their claws going through exposed skin and an acidic burning nearly causes you to cry out. The water is thick with blood and several bodies have already floated down the current. Let's hope those wraith things won't be able to follow us too! Jett points out, for by now they will be upon you within moments.

ooc: You are in the midst of getting through the tunnel but you are not clear of danger yet. Please state any intentions and roll a balance and climb check if you are getting into the boat. By now the rest of you already in the boat have been able to stop fighting for the moment, so you should be stable enough not to need to roll a balance for the next round at any rate. By the next round you will be on the other side of the wall and beyond the city.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

By now Tanzy and the others are in the boat, which is moving much faster thanks to Prizzard. Don't worry about me Raknesh. Halek assures you, as he moves back toward the end of the boat. The creatures are trying to follow you through the tunnel and doing a clumsy job of it in part due to the sharks and also everyone trying to climb through the narrow opening at once. Halek raises his hands to the sky and begins to glow so impossibly bright that no one can stand to look at him. The glow extends through his hands and fills the air, rushing forth to meet the oncoming cloud of wraiths with such force that the collision causes a thundering BOOM! The wraiths shriek with such rage that you are forced to cover your ears. Halek slumps down, exhausted. Nothing is following you now that you can see, and the once great city of Iatharias is becoming farther away. Only the sound of the water and the sounds of the birds are around you now as the water way meets with the river.

ooc: Finish up conversation and intentions here please before I start another chapter.

Stefan sighs in relief as they clear the wall, and while they are just past the danger, and before they have a chance to fade from notice he shouts towards the side "KOLOLO!!" Without an explanation he sits back to wait and quickly a large shape can be heard moving through the undergrowth towards the boat.

Despite all he has already seen and heard about the boy, Raknesh is once again surprised by his action.

Quite obviously Halek is, if only for a moment, a match for the darkness that is spreading.  Looking at the exhausted youth, he wonders if they are protecting him or it it is the opposite.

He takes a look at Halek's wound and his own, but his skill with healing isn't that great so he asks for advice.

"Is everyone alright? We should treat those wounds, the burning they caused isn't natural and with all that unclean water, infection might be possible."

Once they are healed, he will take position in front of the boat, looking for possible trouble ahead.

The boat continues onward, and you heal your wounds as best as you can, though those of you who are wounded, you do feel drained and increasingly weak as the day wears on. You are still very much functional, but there is an underlying exhaustion that pulls at you bit by bit. You have a feeling it could get worse and it would be wise to seek help.
