Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Raknesh: You finish off your creature with ease, but another skeleton slashes and strikes you square in the side. Fortunately it is no mortal wound and you are able to keep fighting.

Prizzard: You are able to be healed enough to stabilize you for the moment, though you know you'll still be tired the rest of this night. In the meantime, you are quite functional as you manage to destroy your foe with your scythe, though naturally more are on their way. You manage to stay unscathed thus far. You also seem to recognize the red eyed cloud that is quickly approaching...

Stefan, your lightning hits and the creature shrieks. You are struck by a skeleton though, however, not too badly.

Tanzy, you hit your foe hard, but not as squarely as before and you find yourself starting to be surrounded by the growing horde.

Everyone roll next 2 rounds and everyone but Tanzy please roll fort save. Thanks!

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Tanzy was never one to back down from a fight, but she wasn't stupid either. It seemed they were severely outnumbered and the situation was only getting worse. Though she continued to fight she started planning for an escape should it become necessary. It occurred to her that the church may be a good place to take shelter, though it was clearly a dead end.

"We must regroup inside the church or we will be overrun." Says Raknesh, hoping the priest would be able to prevent the undeads to enter the consecrated building.

He will move step by step toward the church's entrance, still throwing his mindblade on the way.

Stefan snarled at the skeleton's touch moving away from the filthy undead thing.  He glared once more at the secondary cloud, another bolt of lightning streaming down into it, before he turned and moved to the church, calling behind him,  "He's right, get to the church and I can seal the door while we regroup, no one else will be moving through that mess to get here!"

15:13, Today: Stefan Aruello rolled 9 using 3d6. lightning damage.
15:15, Today: Stefan Aruello rolled 29 using 1d20+15. concentration.
step back 5 foot for free, then move to the church and hold action for other people to get in, as soon as that happens he will stone shape the door shut.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Raknesh and Tanzy manage to get some good hits in to their opponents but Tanzy takes some heavy wounds in her attempt to get inside. By now the skeletons are numbered by the dozens and the large cloud is raining more by the minute. The small cloud that Stefan has been hitting with his lightning seems to be retreating, but before it does, as it nears you feel an almost sucking force. Fortunately Prizzard has warned you to hold your breath, but you can feel the creature trying to get at it and you are relieved to escape inside before it can succeed. As you all half run, half throw yourselves in, the druid manages to stone shape the door shut, blocking you from your foes. For now.

Once inside you see you are in a very old and very archaic church. There are hundreds of pews and the ceiling towers high above you. Various symbols of the gods decorate the place, and there is a feeling of quiet and power all around you. There are no sounds from outside, but you know that the danger is still very much out there. Some priests rush over to aid the wounded, and the unconscious Loden is being tended to as well. You see that you and the guards that were sent with you are the only townspeople there besides the priests themselves.

Tanzy and Stefan, you wonder at the group you have just found yourselves with. They look like a mysterious bunch indeed. There is a wise eyed little boy with them too who is looking at you both with curiosity.

One of the priests steps forward, appearing to be the one in charge. Rest here, while you can. I do not recommend staying long or it will be impossible for you to leave the city. Take a few minutes and we will heal you, and then you must get out. The oracle has sent warning ahead of you and has asked me to help you. I will do what I can. For now, take a moment and we will heal what we may. He offers kindly.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Stefan eyes the priest warily, he has had mixed dealings with the holy men of 'the civilized world'. If one of them approaches him before everyone else is seen to he will wave the man away, knowing that one, his wounds are minor and two, they will heal quickly enough later. Now that he has some time he will take a more in depth look at Raknesh, Prizzard, Tanzy and any of the guards who had joined the fight.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

When one of the newcomer seal the door by changing it to stone - a feat that impress him quite a bit, and not only because it was a very smart move - Raknesh checks on Halek to make sure he is fine.

He is, however, a little bit disappointed by the lack of intervention of the priest, but maybe none of them had been granted the blessing of the gods and was able to use their magic.

Once he is certain the boy is fine, he turns to the two warriors.

"Thank you for your help.  I dare say we might not have been able to make it if not for your intervention."

When the priest arrive, he listens, worried.

"Yes, the situation is direr than we thought. We must make haste... But will the city still be there when we return?"

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Prizzard dismisses his spell before running in with the rest. Naturally quick, he does not need to disgrace himself by diving inside. Seeing the wall so quickly formed, he nods to Stephan.

If he is injured it is not evident, for he has suffered no true wounds, only the effects of life-draining magics. When checked by a priest he whispers to him: "I wish to speak to your most knowledgeable man, alone."

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

The priests heal anyone who needs it, and one of them looks a bit surprised when Stefan turns him away. Halek appears to be fine as well. The priest answers Raknesh with a shrug. I honestly cannot say for certain. But I do know that there will be no one left to save the city if you don't leave and find a way. I apologize that we weren't able to do more for you out there. It was taking all of us to turn as many undead as we were able. What you saw and dealt with, was only a small portion of what is trying to come. I could sense the dead rising from their graves. This city will be taken tonight. We will stay here, and save and protect those we can. This church is one of the last safe places now. But you need to go. Do not think on us, it will only slow your haste. He finishes firmly.

Prizzard: The priest who is checking on you looks surprised, but nods and walks away from the others with you. Enough that you can still hear the conversation, but also so that you have privacy when speaking in whispers. I'd like to think that I know a great deal. What is it you need man? He asks quietly.

By now Loden has awoken thanks to their healing. He stirs, shakes his head, and then sits upright. He looks to be incredibly tired, and dark circles are under his eyes as though he hasn't slept in days. He looks at all of you in surprise. My friends? He mumbles in wonder. It is wonderful to see you. I thought I had died. He shakes his head and looks on Tanzy and Stefan. If you are involved with my companions, I apologize now for any hardships you will go through. We are in the middle of something quite unpleasant. You had best know that now before you get dragged into it, if you haven't been already that is. He finishes drily. By now he is standing, but he still looks weak. I don't suppose anyone has seen Ezran? He asks tiredly.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Stefan scowled down at Loden with pursed lips.  He knew intellectually that the man was under foreign control when he had attacked him, but it would take a little more time before he liked the fellow.  After a moment he turned to one of the priests and asked "Is there a back door to the church, or another way out at least.  I can't unseal that door till tomorrow."

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

"It is a pleasure to see you being yourself again." says Raknesh.

"I did spot Erzan"
he adds, thoughtfully "but she was at a corner and quickly vanished." He raises his hands in a gesture of being clueless.
"I have no idea where she is now. Nor do I know what she is doing and why she did not try to contact us.  Maybe she feared we were under the same influence as you... Or maybe she was... Who knows..."

He turns to Stefan and Tanzy next:

"As Loden says, you have stepped upon a very dire situation.  What you saw outside is the consequence of a dark goddess finally managing to free herself. We were about to leave for a quest to find the needed tools to imprison her again when all hell broke loose.  I suppose she is aware of our intention, which make our mission even harder and more important.

You fought well here, and so I ask you: would you join us?  With your strength, or your strange magic, we might have better chances of success..."

He lets his words fade away in the church 's acoustic, waiting for their answer.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Tanzy took in her surroundings curiously. The group she found herself a newcomer in was an odd mix of people. She wasn't surprised when she was asked to join. It looked like these people could use all the help they could get. Considering they were her best bet out of town she decided it would be a good idea to cast her luck in with them for a bit. "Tanzy Tarrent" she introduced herself simply. "I'm willing to join you for the time being." The thief wasn't going to commit to a full on quest to destroy evil at this time, but it couldn't hurt to go along for a little while, until her other obligations pulled her away.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

Loden watches the situation and responds to Raknesh in regard to Ezran. I fear she has been taken, like myself. She did a better job of fighting it though. She had moments of clarity. I wish we had time to save her, but I have a feeling that when the dark armies follow us, she will be among them. I only hope her body lasts until then. He shakes his head. He then turns to Stefan. I apologize to you stranger. I do not know all of the details of what I did to you, but I do remember that I meant you harm, and I acted upon that intention. I hope you realize, it was not me. I thank you for what you've done. Had you not angered the demons inside of me so much, they would not have let me go. He extends a hand in apology.

(Meanwhile, you all see that Jett looks very upset about the news of Ezran)

During all of this, the head priest speaks up again. When you are ready, I have a way out. There are waterways underneath the city that I can show you. Not many people know of their existence, but they will take you safely away from the powers that have possessed this place. For now anyway. The oracle will keep in contact with you as best she can. If you are able, you should go to the local churches and temples you come across. They will provide you with shelter when they can, upon request of the oracle.

Re: Chapter 3: Iatharias

The priest nods at Raknesh in agreement. Aye. There is no way out now but through those waterways. Take a look out of the upper level windows if you'd like. The city is being overrun. He shakes his head. You are welcome to anything you find in the church. The gods know you will need all you can get. You should ready to leave soon though. This church will keep out evil creatures, but I'm sure we will have other things to deal with shortly enough. He finishes.

ooc: Everyone prepare to leave, finish up final thoughts and if you do want to scrounge around the church, roll a search for it please.

Hum, I thought I had make a list when we were in the palace, after I checked for armor and weapons, but I apparently confused this game with another in which I did make a list around the same time...

I will try to find something here, then^^  (mainly rations)

ooc: Raknesh, I believe you did get some masterwork chain mail and weapons and such back at the oracle, but I didn't see anything about supplies in general. You do find rations here as you have already surmised, and simple things like blankets and the like should you wish them.

ic: Stefan You find a replacement staff easily. It is simple, but very well built. It will serve you well for the time being. Loden seems relieved that you have somewhat forgiven him, though he still looks at you guiltily from time to time.

ooc: Sorry guys I'd post more but I'm just waiting a smidge more for the others to post. If they don't in a couple of days I'll move you along.
