Re: Chapter

At Halek's words Tanzy was tempted to turn her horse in the opposite direction and ride hard away from them. Having only been companions for a short time she could have easily extracted herself from the group. It was curiosity pure and simple that made her decide to tag along for a little longer.
"Perhaps we should spare the next town the plague of evil we tend to bring and ride hard for temple? Surely they can heal Stefan there. Is he stable enough to make the trip?" Tanzy knew little of healing or if Stefan would worsen without immediate attention.

"Riding straight would grant us more time for preparation, as well. Stefan will make it, but he will be in pain the whole way."

Re: Chapter

Now that the decision has been made, you press forward to the inn. The days are fairly uneventful, though you do see that Stefan is very weak and he has a high fever. He does not stir or open his eyes once during the whole journey. It is as though he is dead. Only the rise and fall of his chest indicate any sign of life, and even that is subtle. His bear is constantly at his side, somehow looking sorrowful in spite of being a bear. At least you don't appear to have been followed by the woman, though Halek has been very silent about the whole matter. He speaks only when spoken to and often looks distant.

By now the temple has come into view. It is a marvelous looking thing, though quite ancient. It shows signs of better days and has long ago been disused as a popular place of worship. Generally now it is only inhabited by monks and clerics who are trying to study it's history. Hopefully one of these can heal your companion. As you get closer though, you find it to be eerily silent. The stables are full, though the horses look in need of feeding. The holy men's quarters are empty, though their belongings are still intact. You find moldy food in the dining hall, though it is only just beginning to turn. The air is still, yet full of danger. And something else. Evil.

Re: Chapter

Tanzy takes in the condition of the temple and sighs "Is this getting a little old to anyone else?" Approaching Halek she bends slightly to look him in the eye. "I think it's time you gave us an idea of what's going on here. Who was that woman and why does she want you?" She speaks firmly but kindly.

Re: Chapter

Every morning, Raknesh hopes to see Stefan stirs and wake, but to no avail.
We should take some precautions, next time, to have maybe some healing potions for such a case.

As they arrive in sight of the temple, he quickens his pace a bit, looking forward to finding someone to save their companion.

But once again, their hopes are quickly crushed.

"I fear we are too late... barely but still too late... " he says to Tanzy.
"They might have some healing items in their store."

He begins to move to check that possibility when Tanzy asks her question to Halek.

Still very protective of the boy he gets closer. Both to keep the boy safe and to hear his answer, as he must admit sharing that feeling.

Re: Chapter

The boy listens to Tanzy's question with a grave face. He hesitates before answering, as if struggling with the answer. At long last he sighs and looks up at Raknesh as well with sad eyes. It's coming back to me a little bit at a time. But, I remember her. She used to be my nursemaid. She watched me for my mother, a very long time ago. I'm.....not entirely mortal..... He finishes awkwardly.

Re: Chapter

Tanzy simply nods as if to say "good enough" She felt bad for the kid even though she didn't know the whole story. She had a feeling it would unveil itself in due time. Walking away from Raknesh and the boy she begins hunting for healing equipment or any other useful looking items.

The druids comatose body spasms again for a moment, the sudden unexpected reaction drawing hope from the lingering embers of those concerned from him that is quickly quelled as his body resumes its seemingly lifeless state.

Re: Chapter

You all search and are pleased to find a moderate amount of success. Healing potions, rations, clean water and the like are readily available. Tanzy, as you are searching in particular you see something near the fire pit. It looks to be a pile of something and it is covered in flies. You don't need to go any closer to see what it is.

Re: Chapter

Tanzy let out a squeak of disgust and alarm and dashed quickly away from the fire pit. "We've got dead here," she pointed towards the fire pit fighting the urge to vomit. "We have plenty of healing potions and fresh supplies. Let's get Stefan up and get out of here fast."

Stefan kept at it, moving out through the gate as he spoke quietly and gestured furiously, making for the unnatural forest but allowing his mind to switch into a mode that would allow him to keep his way in the forest, and hoping to see the mist he summoned spring up around him.  If he was cut off from all his magic, this would be significantly harder to live through.  OOC: attempting to cast Obscuring mist

Re: Chapter

Tanzy: You administer the healing potions to Stefan, and his body immediately shows signs of improvement, but he remains unconscious. This was most unusual. Suddenly you see movement from one of the buildings. An old man stumbles towards you, covered in blood but looking like he will survive. They killed them. They killed them all. Are you here to help me? He sounds shaky and upset and understandably so.

Re: Chapter

As a last resort Tanzy gave Stefan a shake to see if that would wake him up. It didn't make sense that the healing potion had worked but he hadn't woken up. When the old man appeared covered in blood she gave up trying to wake the druid."We should leave," she repeated looking at her companions for confirmation. To the old man, "Can you tell us what happened here?"

Seeming entirely unsurprised by both Stefan and the bloodied man: "It's probably too late to leave in a hurry. There is likely an ambush outside."

Re: Chapter

The old man gives a nod, looking at the fallen druid with interest. We were attacked. They were strange creatures with white skin like death and black hair. They were almost human but not quite. So strong. He shakes his head. They killed us easily and ate from the bodies. I only manged to escape by hiding like a coward. I would do it again in an instant though. Judging by their screams they did not die well. He looks very sad. Raknesh and Prizzard recognize the description of these creatures as the one's you have faced in the past. The fact that they are this far inland does not bode well. Loden speaks then. We cannot leave I fear good Tanzy. We have faced these creatures before. The only way to stop them is to gather information from several temples so that we can send their creator back to the underworld. This is the first temple we are supposed to search. He explains gently. Meanwhile, the man has been examining Stefan. Were you aware that this man is trapped? He asks, almost as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Re: Chapter

Tanzy agreed with Loden but it was obvious she wasn't happy about the idea of hanging around the temple. "Any ideas what we are supposed to be looking for?"

When the old man tells them Stefan is trapped she frowns. Prizzard voiced the question before she could and she waited for the old mans response. If they were lucky maybe he would know how to fix the druid. Of course in the short time she'd been with these people they'd not once gotten a lucky break. She wouldn't be surprised if there was no easy solution.

Raknesh is surprised by the old man information.

"What do you mean trapped? We know he was possessed and we had to take measures, but he should have been fine after that. None of us knows much about healing and we had hopes to find help here..."

Prizzard/Tanzy/Raknesh: The old man gives a nod at Prizzard's words. It looks like the evil spirit must have attempted to kill him when you exorcised him from this fellow's body. He was only half successful though. The body is fine, but the spirit is stuck. Someone will need to go and find him. There is a path he must take to return to his body, but you risk your own soul if you are not successful. It is no easy task. I don't suppose there are any volunteers? He says drily.
