Chapter

The boat provides you swift passage for a few days as you try to find a city or village that has someone who can heal the infection. You are on the Dothan river by now, headed toward Kybic pass. There is a small city on the map that looks like a likely place to stop. By now the wounded are feeling quite weak and as much as you try to heal yourselves, it does little good. Loden suggests finding a cleric or holy man, which you hope to find in the city. You pull off the river toward the docks of the city and the dock keeper informs you that he will keep watch of the vessel.

ooc: roll searches and intentions please.

As the days went by, Raknesh could feel his body weakening. Of course he had learned, like all the members of his order to keep his mind over his body, but maintaining himself focused for so long is also draining.

Halek's wound also worries him, for much depends on the youth, and they could not go much further without some help.

He thanks the dock keeper for his offer
"We would like to pray the gods for guidance and safe travel. Could you tell us where to find a temple?  And a good inn too, for even if the boat's move on water help the sleep to come, the wood isn't very soft."

Re: Chapter

Prizzard would have tried some of that strange energy on the boy to remove the problem, further exhausting himself. All he had received is one small cut, so he declined healing until they reached the town. (By now it would be healed)

"Bounty board and office?" he added to the information request.

Re: Chapter

Tanzy is more than happy to be out of the boat, thankful to be able to stretch her legs. Her interest perks up when she hears Raknesh inquire about an inn. It didn't matter what inn in what city, somehow it always felt like coming home. Inn's were her favorite environment. There were always pockets to pick, people to scam, gambling to be won. Her weary spirits brightened a little at the prospect.

Re: Chapter

Stefan was concerned for a variety of reasons, over the last few days he would have been able to heal all the wounds of his new friends, but like them he felt the tugging of something pulling him down to exhaustion, and now they were come to a new city.  His friend Kololo, a large brown bear that anyone who would have wanted to could have met on their trip down river, would be left outside the city walls again.  He shifted uncomfortably as they made their way into the city, still looking at everything with the eyes of a man unused to cities, following along with the others.

I assume we can refresh spell lists?

Re: Chapter

Everyone's hit points are fully healed by now, but your constitution has taken some hits, hence you all feel pretty tired (those of you who have been hit).

ic: Halek adores Stefan's bear, and it is perhaps the first time you can actually see the child within the youth, who always seems so serious and mature, despite his young age. Halek is also quite shy around Tanzy at first, but warms up over the journey. The dock keeper looks surprised at Prizzard's request, and he gives him a look of scrutiny before answering all of you. There is a small temple on the outskirts of town. The main road leads right to it, you can't miss it. There are a couple of inns along the same road as well, which should meet your needs nicely. As for the bounty board, you'll find it by the prison. It's on a small road that shoots off of the main one. Once you see the stables, you'll know you've picked the right one. Its the big white washed building at the end of the street. He frowns.

Loden turns toward you all. I suggest we go to the temple first, see if there is anything to be done about our conditions. Perhaps we can ask about supplies and the like too. The oracle did give us a few connections after all. After that we should find an inn and rest a bit before we decide our next course of action.

He then takes Prizzard aside for a moment and speaks to him quietly.
ooc:

Roll spots please. Also, you may refresh spell lists for sure and everyone let me know your intentions before you go to the temple.

Re: Chapter

I will go with them to the temple for healing, but I spend most of my time out of town and do not sleep at the inn. Something about the beds being too soft..

Re: Chapter

You all head towards the temple after those who are interested deposit their gear in the inn. The temple is small to be sure, and only a few clerics inhabit it, but they seem to be most helpful in healing your strange wounds and answering any questions you may have. As you look around the dusty little temple, one of the clerics straightens suddenly and he looks stiff as he gazes off into the distance. He seems to have entered some kind of trance. Something has returned with one of you. Something....evil. One of you carries a great darkness inside. You may not even know it yet, but you bring danger to your companions. He trails off accusingly. You should be cleansed. Before it takes over completely. His face is dark and ominous as he looks from face to face.

Re: Chapter

His quiet chatting with Loden seems to raise in volume slightly before he suddenly leaves the temple.

Re: Chapter

Stefan purses his lips as he glances back at Prizzard as he leaves the building, raising an eyebrow to the priest as he turns back. "Is the one in need if your cleansing still here, or has the evil left the building."

Re: Chapter

The skills of the priest lighten much of the heavy weight Raknesh felt on his shoulders.

However, the small burst of easy is quickly shattered by the words of the strange cleric.

"I was afraid you would say something like that... I feared she had managed to find a way to keep track of us but I did not expected that she would have successfully implanted part of herself in one of us... Especially without us noticing, as you imply.

Could you do that cleansing? Quickly?  Because we are very much in a hurry... Still, it has to much potential for disaster not to be taken care of."

Re: Chapter

Tanzy frowned at the clerics words trying to decide who the secret offender might be. Stefan's remark about the strange man Prizzard brought a smile to her lips as it was very similar to what she herself had been thinking.

Re: Chapter

The cleric frowns at the question of whether the presence is still there. Unfortunately I cannot tell. It has hidden itself from me now that it knows I can sense it. There will be signs though, and I will give you what I can to help you when it does reveal itself. Be sure that you do not do the ceremony on the wrong person though. For though it will cleanse the actual victim, anyone else it may end up killing.... He finishes ominously. You will want to look for mood swings, evasion and secrecy, loss in memory, things like that. They will not feel hungry or tired. They may not process pain. You will also want to see how animals react around this person. They can sense what we cannot. The more entrenched the being is within the person, the harder it will be to detect. They may not even know that they are possessed themselves. When the time comes, you will want to bind them very thoroughly. I will give you supplies for the ceremony, as well as the words that must be used. Take care though, the being knows that you are aware of them now. It is best to try not to leave anyone alone so that it cannot transfer the host. Though, it may try to avoid that seeing as how you are it's quarry and it will want to remain close to you. It may jump around from person to person, so I cannot stress enough that you know the being is STILL inside the person before you begin the removal process. He finishes firmly.

Re: Chapter

"Creepy" Tanzy muttered again wondering who these people were that she had hooked up with. "So it looks like we will be enforcing the buddy system then. Anyone headed for the inn? I could use a drink."

Re: Chapter

"This is not a reassuring thought" comments Raknesh.
"We will be as careful as we can" he promises.

"A good hot meal and a night in a bed will benefit us all, we shall follow you.

But at first light tomorrow we will have to leave. We can't take too long and we don't know if we are followed or not..."
