Chapter 5.1- blood in the market place

Bryon: You walk in the marketplace with Ulthol, skimming over wares and supplies as you do a bit of last minute shopping. There are rumors of troubles about, strange stories of violence and cannibalism from a pale skinned army that destroys all in its path. It is hard to say whether this is rumor or not, so much seems to be wild speculation. Still, enough nobles and rulers are eager for information and willing to pay such high fees that the temptation to investigate overruled the supposed dangers. According to the stories, you were in the right area considering recent attacks. It is hard to tell fact from fiction though for surely some of these stories are exaggerated. The fact that you've been lingering here for a few days with no sign of trouble only makes you wonder all the more if there is more paranoia in these tales than truth.

This morning though, seems different. As you wander through the busy streets with your husband, you notice a black cloud forming over the city. The fact that the rest of the sky is full of puffy white clouds makes you wonder, as does the hair standing up on the back of your neck...

ooc: Roll spot please

Fortunately your spouse is more alert and he gestures for you to look. As you squint at the black cloud overhead you are surprised to see what look like shapes dropping from the cloud. Human sized shapes, dozens of them. They appear to be falling several blocks away and you aren't the only one who has noticed for a few other market dwellers start to gasp and point.

She grunted as Ulthol saw something she missed. It was like that, usually. She could be inattentive at time. "Come on, love, lets go get a closer look." She heads towards where the shapes seem to be falling to.

Ulthol follows closely, looking curious and cautious at the same time. There were an awful lot of dark rumors flying about lately...As you near where the shapes are falling you can see they are definitely human in form. By now the cloud is starting to dissipate but the streets are littered with the new arrivals. They are several yards off at this point but you can see they are pale of flesh and dark of hair, clad all in black leather and armed with wicked looking weapons. Almost as soon as they hit ground they start to rush at anyone nearby. Soon the streets are full of screams...

Bryon choose a target, one of the armored figures that seemed to be attacking the normal people, and making sure her target had two or three of its friends close by. "Ulthol, Send your golem to help, make sure it protects people. And you should infuse your armor." Then she fired a Eldrich Chain Blast at her target.

Re: Chapter 5.1- blood in the market place

The chain barely misses, the strangers are quick it would seem and they are none too happy with your attack. Two of them separate from their company and make their way towards you. One of them looses a black bladed dagger and hurls it at you where it manages to graze your arm. It is a very small wound, but there is something wrong. You feel a coldness trying to seep in...

Re: Chapter 5.1- blood in the market place

She let out a little moan as the dagger passed by her. "Poison." She hissed as she felt the cold trying to infest her body.

Cold gave her an idea. These little buggers seemed nimble, so many a little cold would slow them down.

Re: Chapter 5.1- blood in the market place

Your cone attack seems to do well and the two are decidedly wounded though they are still intent on attacking you. By now they are very close and one slices you with another dagger. At least they won't be as powerful as before and you have managed to shake off the affects of the first wound's poison, though another feeling of cold threatens to overcome you.

She groaned again as the knife sliced her.

07:59, Today: Bryon rolled 11 using 1d20+5. Fort Save.

She withdrew, taking a short step backward and called out, "Ulthol, a little help love?"

Move Action, Withdraw 5' step backwards

Once out of their reach she used Flees the scene to place herself on a wall of a building nearby. This should give her a good sniper's position.

StA, FtS, Next rnd no actions.

Re: Chapter 5.1- blood in the market place

Fortunately your husband fares well for the moment as he steps forward to engage them. They are close now and they slice at him with black bladed short swords but fortunately Ulthol is quick enough to evade them and do a little damage of his own. In the meantime you feel the iciness spread from your wound though fortunately it is spreading slowly. You are still able to function for the time being.

Bryon again attacked the group of black armored figures. This time she aimed her cone to attack the figures attacking her husband. She altered her blast again, this time changing it to an acid based blast.

Re: Chapter 5.1- blood in the market place

You do well with your attack though your foes are still alive. One of them mutters something at one of his blades and hurls it at you. It slices and you feel utter fear and horror trying to grip your soul...
