The next week is spent recuperating at the quiet village nearby. It is a restful week but tense as Fin is having difficulty keeping his control. Halek has taken to tying him up at night and there are many times where he has to shake him and force him to focus rather than be overtaken. With Prizzard still recovering there is no choice but to wait to exorcise the poor halfling. Raina is very supportive during this time, encouraging Fin and trying to ease his guilt, which is not easy considering the haunted look Jett still wears and the fact that he avoids the thief like the plague.

Meanwhile Althol and Bryon get to know everyone better. Raina, it appears, is the daughter of death himself of all things! The beautiful blond woman doesn't dwell much on the details but you gather she gave up her immortality to save your new companions. Loden is quiet and dangerous but friendly enough. As for your attempts at creating items to slow the poisons, you do have a measure of success and between that and Raina's healing you are all able to shake off any affects the pale skinned warriors had on you though she warns there are worse soldiers whose taints you will not be able to heal so easily. Particularly at the next temple.

Prizzard heals slowly and during the entire week is unable to even touch magic, barely able to even sit up. At last though he can move around on his own and Halek determines in spite of his weakness and near death, you can no longer wait to cleanse Fin. I need you to use your power again though I will guide you this time. Still, if you aren't careful you could burn yourself out entirely. I hate to ask this but if we don't act soon there won't be anything left of Fin and the darkness he brings into this world will be far worse than anything you've faced. he warns. He turns to the others. I will need to use everyone's energy actually, not just Prizzard's. There are certain risks unfortunately. I would not ask if I had any other choice. You see he is a conduit for the consort of the dark Goddess. My father. He is trying to claw his way back into this world. That's why the soldiers obeyed Fin, they thought it was my father who commanded them. If he gets out, Shae has as good as won. he finishes darkly.

ooc: Bryon, I will go over the stats of your creations in the near future

"You don't have to ask me twice." He's choosing to be up and moving around about as much as he can, and the tiny dragon still hunts food every night for the group.

"I have already entrusted my life to you and the others a few times" said Raknesh.
"Let's begin. We have already stayed here too long..."

Stefan nods immediately to her request.  "I have no interest in meeting your father again, here or anywhere else.  My energy is yours."

It is determined that you are best off outside the village where Fin's antics won't attract attention. Prizzard is still incredibly weak but Halek says all he needs you to do when the time comes is to open yourself to your energy and he will guide the rest. Raina mutters some words over the cords she binds Fin with and soon you are all gathered around the poor prostrate halfling who looks rather nervous and rightfully so. Well, I suppose we'd best get this over with Halek sighs. He joins hands with Prizzard and Raknesh and instructs everyone else to do the same, linking into a circle around the thief. I'm afraid this may hurt... he informs you all apologetically.

ooc: Roll constitution checks please. Also, Prizzard you are up and moving but you are still at half hitpoints and should you try to use your magic it will have a possibility of failing. You can access your special gift though, however note that trying to direct it in anyway will have great risks too.

"No pain no gain," Tanzy muttered at Halek's warning. She stepped into the circle and prepared herself for what was to come.

Bryon and Althol hard at work and talking over how to accomplish this. "Well if we cannot stop the effects after, perhaps we can shield them up front? Like using an 'against evil' spell?"

ooc: Everyone but Tanzy and Prizzard take 20 hit points of damage from the ceremony. You should all be back to your full HP at this point so it shouldn't be too bad, save for Prizzard of course who hasn't recovered fully but thankfully rolled well ;P

As you gather hands around Fin, the poor thing begins to moan and writhe as the thing inside him seems to be aware of what's about to happen. It's all too familiar for most of you, especially Stephan who has undergone his own exorcism. Raina gives the druid a sympathetic look as though she knows what must be going through his mind. Fortunately Fin is well bound for as Halek starts to close his eyes and concentrate he starts thrashing wildly. You all feel your energy start to drain away from you and it is most disconcerting but Halek urges you to stay calm. By now Fin is screaming and his eyes are bulging. Another voice comes from his lips. Fools! You think you can expel me!? I will kill this vessel before I allow it! You suddenly hear bones start to crack in the poor halfling's body and his limbs are at unnatural angles in spite of the ropes. His arms and legs are being broken before your eyes! Yes, this is familiar territory indeed for Stephan, remembering the pain that you went through with your own exorcism. Shut up father Halek ignores what's happened, his small face determined. Fin laughs. Oh you think you will best me on your own do you my miserable whelp of a son? I should have killed you when you were born. I knew looking at you that you were flawed. Had your mother not stayed my hand I would have finished you long ago. Fortunately there is still time to rectify her mistake... To your horror Fin stands on his broken limbs which crack and snap as they hold his weight. Then the ropes break apart! Suddenly he stretches and lengthens until it is no longer Fin you see but a devastatingly handsome man in his thirties with dark hair and blue eyes. He laughs triumphantly and Halek pales and gives a scream of panic, releasing the circle and stepping back. The man lunges at the boy...

Upon the circle breaking, Prizzard attempts to gather the remaining energy.
His familiar will speed off to retrieve his weapon (whether its here or in town is DM discretion, but as he's still recovering and weak, he's not wearing armor or weapons most of the time.)

If gathering the energy takes little enough time, he will try using it to reinforce his body by channeling it into the bear-blood serum he's been working on, drinking one of the vials.

Seeing that Fin was no more Tanzy whipped one of her rapiers out. Clearly this new man wanted to harm Halek so taking advantage of the fact that his attention was on the boy she attacked from behind. She could only hope that this wouldn't harm their lost companion if Fin was even still alive.

Stefan's face is set in grim lines during the exorcism, his face masking anything that he may feel.  He visibly starts in confusioin when the voice calls Raina 'son' but as Fin Shifts and reforms in the cast of a man all to familiar to him, Stefan immediately begins to shift his own shape as he too moved to interpose himself between Halek and the thing possessing Fin.

Initiative of 15, shapeshifting to a red dragon.

Tanzy is the first to react, her attack very affective though he twists before you can stab him between the shoulder blades. He is still very much in the game but blood starts to run down his body. Raina frowns worriedly. She's got the right idea but be careful everyone...

Everything happens at once. Prizzard is managing to manipulate his abilities and take his vial even as his familiar races off. Fortunately your weapon is not far so it won't take long to retrieve it.

Meanwhile Stefan lunges to get between the father and son but not before the man smites the boy so hard he goes flying back into the wall, bouncing off. The poor child is terrified and looks like all he wants to do is run. Still, there is an exorcism to finish. Seeing all the interfering the strange man gives an amused laugh. I was going to kill him first but if you're all so eager... His eyes disturbingly begin to roll back into his head...Raknesh by now has materialized his mind blade and attempts to purify the foe but unfortunately he is able to withstand the attack. Still, he does roar in pain and you can see him physically struggle with his control though a second later he is as triumphant looking as ever. He looks ready to round on Raknesh, seeing him as the biggest threat at the moment...

Jett and Loden decide to block the doors in case he tries to escape. The last thing you need is this monster let loose on the world.

Fin, you feel you are helpless in all this. You can see everything that is happening, feel all the awful shattering of your bones and feel what you've done to Halek but you can do nothing for the moment. As you are ready to give up Raina's voice enters your head! I will try to help you Fin. Concentrate! ooc: another will save please. Also note you are aware of everything going on around you.

Allowing himself a tiny smile as he had managed to draw attention away from Halek, Raknesh once again gathered his psychic energy inside his blade.

The operation is strenuous and he probably won't be able to try again more than 2 or 3 times before being drained.

Still, it apparently had some effect. Defiantly, the blade's light increased as he launched another attack.

OOC: Fin's just hanging tight as he continues to fail his will saves...

He slowly traces out the expected movements for the spell, carefully pronouncing the arcane syllables to bring this new spell to life.

Stefan flaps his wings twice as he gains 4 feet of space between the ground and himself, regret in his face as he clears a line between the thing in Fin's body and himself, and a jet of fire shoots forth.

I have the strangest feeling I may be healing this damage back off later, but firey breeath for now.  19 damage, DC 15 for 9 damage

The man who has overtaken Fin leaps back from the flame, only taking partial damage. He is fast. Meanwhile Raknesh's attack seems to have great affect, his form flickering for an instant back into the halfling though it is so quick you almost wonder if you imagined it. Snarling in rage he lunges forward and grips Raknesh's hand, squeezing it alarmingly hard for an instant before letting go. It seems an odd move at first but a moment later you realize he has done something to you. You try desperately to shake off the affects...ooc: Fort save please Raknesh.

Meanwhile Fin, in spite of Raina's aid the man possessing you is too strong. Raina swears at your piddly attempt. Are you even trying? she telepathically communicates, sounding frustrated. Come on man! Get up some courage for me! ooc: Try again you poor thing. I've never seen such bad luck! lol.

Hearing Raina's chiding, the halfling makes another attempt to muster his courage to fight for control

It started suddenly, violently, and painfully, like any other werebear transformation, but in place of a black or brown coat, a white coat with gold patterning emerged very quickly. The entire transformation took less than a second and the new form did not hesitate: he rushed to grab the posessed Fin from behind. With white and gold silk wrapped around his paws and forelimbs defying gravity by 'dangling' upward, the new form looked every bit like a spirit animal.

Raknesh, you see an alarming lump try to form on your hand but thankfully a moment later it disappears and it seems you have bested it. Who knows what it was to be but you doubt anything good...

Tanzy slashes at the man, slicing him in the back even as Prizzard manages to grapple with him. He struggles wildly but it would seem that Fin is fighting his possessor as well for he flickers back and forth to his true form. Mentally the halfling hears Raina mutter, Finally! Showing a little guts lad! You feel a strange power surge through you and you can feel yourself at odds with the being possessing you. Meanwhile during the last several seconds you have all noticed that Jett has been approaching the enemy, leaving his post, apparently to make his own attack for he has a look of determination and his sword is out. Presumably he has come to help with the battle but now that Prizzard has grappled the man he suddenly rushes forward and touches the enemy's face! Suddenly Halek (who has been cowering) and Raina both shout, "NOOOO!" at the same time and Jett falls backward violently as though thrown. You idiot! Raina snarls. You really think he'll keep his promise?! Everything happens at once. Fin is suddenly in Prizzard's grasp, the man he had been is now gone. Fin, you are back to yourself but you are suddenly in incredible pain for several bones in your body are apparently broken!

Jett stands up from where he fell, panting, his eyes full of passion. I'm going to get Ezran back! He promised me! I can contain him better than that wretched Fin!

Fin screams out in Agony from his multiple wounds. He starts whimpering and just hangs loosely in Prizzard's bear arms.

"Raina, can your father fly?"  Stefan growls out as he shifts himself to be in between Halek and Jett now.

Bryon continued watching the struggle without interfering.

Perturbed by what almost happened to him, Raknesh is too slow to react to Jeff's intervention.

"Now that was a wrong move..." he said.
His blade was ready again, but he wondered if it could work in this case.

After all Jeff accepted the possession and he might not be fighting it...
His own power was barely enough to hinder him within Fin, so the odds were against him but he had to try.

Releasing Fin, Prizzard steps to Jett  and attempts two wild back-hand attacks.

Poor Fin crumples to the ground in agony and Raina rushes to him to assess the damage. I can heal this Finn but you have to hold perfectly still! It will take me a few moments...

N-no Halek shakes his head at Stefan's question. But he's fast, watch him

Meanwhile Raknesh's blade misses and Jett moves unnaturally fast, gripping your forearm roughly as you feel a surge of something unpleasant once again try to enter your body. He is a tenacious thing and he grins wickedly as he hurls a blast of energy at Prizzard. However, before he can get out of the way Prizzard's second attack hits him squarely and he goes flying backward across the room.

ooc: No worries! I forget stuff all the time as you know ;P Both Prizzard and Raknesh, please make a fortitude save. Next round! And Stefan, feel free to post two attacks next round since I kind of made you wait on a response. My apologies, it's been a crazy week.

Fin is in too much pain to move much himself, but through gritted teeth he says to Raina. "my necklace... the tiles.... are like potions..."

OOC: no worries, I know the feeling, I have the creeping crud at the moment so everything just got harder.

IC:Stefan continues to stand his ground between the new host and Halek, waiting for the fires within him to restoke.

Bryon continues to watch and move to get out of the way of flying things/people.

Despite the fact his last attempt missed, Raknesh tried again : there wasn't much he could do otherwise.

Hoping the man is buzzy enough with Prizzard -  Raknesh didn't know he could change his shape. And that was very efficient apparently - he launched another banishing attack.

Prizzard's attacks are successful though Jett has a lot of fight left in him. Deciding to forgo attacking Prizzard with further spells he instead brings his sword around and slashes you right through the stomach in a critical stab though fortunately you are made of stern stuff.

Meanwhile Raknesh, you feel a strange swelling within your arm and should you look you'll see a slight lump about the size of your palm upon your forearm. This is not good. Fortunately your banishing attempt weakens him enough that he is starting to look a bit worried. He takes a few steps back from all of you and says loudly, You will let me go or this man dies! he points at Raknesh triumphantly. The cyst I've just implanted could kill him instantly! Choose wisely your next move! As he says this Raina gasps from across the room where she was helping Fin with his tiles. She has broken several of them, healing the poor lad enough that he can move now though there is still a great deal of pain. He means it! she exclaims. He will make good on his threat and Raknesh may not be strong enough to stop him! Raknesh, this all seems so sudden to you for though you see the lump in your arm you feel perfectly normal otherwise.

OOC thinking and asking a few question before deciding what Raknesh will do ^^

Raknesh has trouble understanding how that strange lump could be do dangerous, bur he trusted Raya about it.

"We cannot allow him to leave" he said, his psychic blade materializing and shining even more.
"So destroy him!" he added as he directed the blade at his arm, just above the cyst.

The pain was incredible, despite his training to control it, but the foe had lost the upper hand

You all look in shock as Raknesh removes his own lower arm, cutting it off in the middle of his forearm and it drops to the floor in a spray of blood. Halek screams at the sight of his friend in such pain and finally comes to his senses for he'd been cowering in fear at the sight of his father for some time. He lunges forward and blasts a burst of white energy at the man and he is knocked backward, crashing through several tables and chairs as he lands in a heap. Sensing he has lost his advantage, Jett scrambles up and starts to run for all he is worth towards the now unguarded door that his host had abandoned...

Meanwhile Raina rushes to Raknesh's side and rips part of her skirt to slow the bleeding. Fin! I need one of your tiles! she exclaims frantically. The blood loss is incredible. You did the right thing Raknesh. He could have done terrible things to you with that cyst and if I had failed at my attempts to remove it you would have died instantly she explains shakily.

Fin hurries as fast as his abused body can to Raknesh's side. Grabbing one of the tiles from his necklace, he hands it to Raina.

Only showing a moment of shock at Rakneshes choice and hearing others coming to his aid, Prizzard returns his focus to the enemy. With one familiar arcane word the bear-Prizzard smiles before taking off, charging the posessed man at high speed. After the first step his familiar flies through the door carrying his weapon which he snatches mid-charge to use as a battering ram, slamming the blunt end into his opponent with all of his strength.

Raina takes the tile from Fin and quickly uses it on the hemorrhaging Raknesh. The bleeding stops but the stump looks aggravated and exposed. Raina tears a piece off her skirt and starts to wrap the wound looking shaken but approving. You made the right choice Raknesh. If you had not done it I would have. You are a brave soul she whispers. As you all look at the dismembered arm you see the cyst start to expand and bubble, spreading in a horrific bursting of the flesh as it bloats in dozens of cysts. See? she adds quietly. I will help you restore yourself friend. If it is the last thing I do. ooc: That is a real spell, totally disturbing when you see the illustration. Yikes!

Meanwhile Prizzard has gone after Jett and slams into him with his weapon, sending him stumbling back weakly. It won't take long now for him to fall unconscious but as he struggles to recover he reaches out and touches Prizzard's shoulder and you feel a cold violent chill run through the limb...ooc: Fortitude save please.

Seeing the possessor fleeing and Prizzard in hot pursuit Stefan flies after them and as the man touches Prizzard, Stefan feels himself finish recovering and with a roar he lays another cone of flame down at the man in Jett's body, the fire coming close enough to char some of the fur Prizzard had grown as a bear.

Jett manages to dodge part of Stefan's flames though his arm and shoulder are badly burned. Upon Prizzard's attack as well his angry face suddenly calms and is replaced by one of fright. He puts his arms up and sinks to his knees. It's alright, it's alright! I have him contained! he pleads, looking halfway certain you are going to finish him off right there.

"If you have him contained then let me fly you up, they can signal is to come down when they are prepared, and if you aren't in control, then there will be a very fatal fall to keep you behaving."  the dragon suggests, to offer a respite for the others.

Stopping immediately, calm, and then in response to Stephan: "I feel that would be a poor course of action. Aside from the chance of possession, escape, and spells, we don't know what Death is capable of. After seeing what he did to Fin, I doubt even ropes will do. A knockout and good binding are in order."

Raknesh, looking very tired and pale and making no effort to get up, intervened in the negociation.

"Rania, would knocking Jett unconscious have any dire effect of the possession? Because if the answer is no then I suggest we keep him that way... At least until I have rested a bit and can try to help with the exorcism with my blade..."

Bryon realizing the show is over, went back to crafting with Althol.

"Whatever we do we'd better make haste" Tanzy suggested eying Jett with distrust. "He could loose control again at any moment."

Jett looks at Stefan nervously, shaking his head quickly. No, no I'm in control! I swear it! he insists. He is weak, his connection to this world is still fragile and unstable. I have him contained now. But don't you see? I know he's dangerous but we can use him! I already have seen into his mind, we can use that information! We can stop Shae! he sounds excited.

In answer to Raknesh Raina frowns. Knocking him out is wise. I'm sure I can make a sleeping drought once I have the supplies. Until then a cruder method would be in order... she winces apologetically. She then turns to Fin. Now, how are you my friend? He put you through hell and I want to make sure he didn't leave a taint on you, how do you feel?

During this time Halek rushes to Raknesh and hugs him tightly, tears running down his face. Your arm! I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry! I was afraid! I should have done more! he sobs the guilt evident on his little face.

WIth Raina's answer Raknesh turned to Prizzard.
"If you don't mind..."

He winced a bit as Halek nearly collided on him and tried to reassure him.
"It's normal to be afraid. Should there be a next time, you will be better prepared. It's the harshest, but also the quickest way to improve: confronting your fears, one step at a time.

We knew this was a dangerous mission and that there would be causalities. Especially since we encountered to many unexpected bumps along the road."

He looked at his wound for a bit.  His people trained hard on improving their mind and to overcome physical weaknesses, but this would require quite a bit of work...

Fin Smiles at Raina's concern, "aside from feeling like I drained an alehouse by myself, I should only need some rest to recover. I feel more like my old self than I have since joining up with you folks."

Setting the head if his weapon on his shoulder, he speaks seriously to Jett, keeping an eye on him. "You'll want to allow this to happen.." Pseudodragon will land beside him and inject more than a few doses of its sleep venom into Jett. At any sign of resistance aside from normal reaction to the stinger, he'll get another bludgeoning from the man-bear.

Raknesh: Halek nods shakily and doesn't let you go yet. I will try to be brave. I will try he sobs. Loden comes forward and pats you on the shoulder. That was very brave of you man. I'm quite impressed by your self sacrifice though I am sorry it came at such a price. Will you be able to function?

Fin: Raina smiles at your words. From what you've been through you could probably do with a real ale you poor thing. You handled yourself well, most folk would have been torn apart keeping such a beast inside you. From now on take care with treasure in the temples eh? Though I can't think of anything worse you could run into then you already have.

Prizzard: Jett listens and nods, grateful that it is to be sleep venom and nothing more painful. He thankfully seems to go down easily, slumping to the floor unconscious.

Everyone: Raina watches the scene looking suddenly tired. Well I don't think we're going to be able to be rid of him tonight. It requires full strength and a great deal of concentration and I don't think any of us have that at the moment.<Royalred> She glances down at Raknesh's severed hand, covered in swelling cysts and pulsating in a disturbing way. <Royalred>I hope you don't mind but I think we had best bury that. It's past the point of saving I'm afraid, though I may have means of helping you if I can puzzle out a few things.

The tiny dragon curls up on Jett and leaves its stinger lodged in. "He'll keep a constant sedation until we're ready again. Raknesh.. that was a bold move. I'm sorry you had to suffer such a loss.. that spell seems very dangerous."

And this is all I can ask of you, Halek he added.

To logan he showed a tired smile. It has always been my mind I used as a weapon. This has not changed
And to prove it, he materialized his mind blade and shot at the center of the door.

"I'll get rid of it," Tanzy offered at Raina's suggestion of burying Rakneshe's hand. Using her cloak she scooped the thing up, being very careful not to touch it and headed quickly out to find a place to dispose of the hand.

Yes, he is more dangerous then anything you have faced and will be worse if he gets anymore strength in him. It is good that you have him sedated Prizzard though I don't know how long it will work, his limits are beyond me right now. It seems there is much to do and not enough time or strength to do it she sighs. Indeed you are all feeling drained from your involvement in her prior attempt to exorcise the man from Fin, it will be a bit before you're ready for a second try. No doubt Halek's father anticipated this. Raina looks grateful to Tanzy for disposing of the arm and disgustingly as you carry it you can feel it pulsate and throb and it's hard not to gag. Fortunately there are ample places to bury the thing and it is easily rid of.

Loden looks relieved that Raknesh is still able to function. I am glad to hear it man though I fear much has been taken from you already. No one would blame you if you were to back away now he sighs. At this Raina pipes in again. Actually, there may be something I can do about that...but it will be complicated and I would need help. It won't be perfect but you would have an arm again...

Alison keeps with Althol, happy to let those more experienced in dealing with this malady make the plans.

"There is no reason for le to renounce. Even less now. Simply said Raknesh.
As Raina intervened, he looked at her with mixed feelings not exactly sure what she meant by 'not perfect'(one's imagination could make you fear much in that prospect)
"Well, I thank you for the possibility, but it must not slow us down."

"I feel we may have some time.. I expect that having her powerful servant expose himself like this, we may be outside of her reach. She's either desperate or over-confident, it seems.. Is there any way we can capture this 'lord' instead of simply bamiahing him? Seems he could be a useful prisoner." The familiar shifts position just before the butt of Prizzard scythe 'taps' Jetts temple heavily. (non-lethal coup de grace) He then reverts to human form. "Also, it may seem a bit trivial compared to recent developments, but my familiar has given his name: Sonnenixxus.  He prefers that we use it."

It is a combination Halek sighs, looking at Jett's prostrate body warily. My father always did think too much of himself though he has enough power to warrant such an opinion. As for trouble, it doesn't matter how much Raknesh, we are going to fix you he sounds determined. And I wouldn't trust my father if we can help it. It doesn't matter how useful he is, we need to end him as soon as possible, though I know that's not doable at the moment. I don't even want him awake if we can help it.

Raina nods at this approvingly. Yes, I agree with Halek. He is not someone I would want to deal with in full power and even as we speak he is regaining it. If he were to waken... she frowns. In the meantime we need to make a plan for poor Raknesh's arm. I have an idea but you may not like it. We need to find a cemetery...

"I'm not sure I want to go that way" said Raknesh at the mention of a cemetery,which brought many horrid thoughts about ghoulish  or skeleton hand.

"I have to agree with you, as useful as the second arm would be, I have my doubts about necromancy, considering our opponents. And it's.. a corpse part." His face shows a small bit of disgust. "Maybe a construct if some sort. Maybe that crystal psionic practitioners keep buying. Or something more basic, like clay or iron." (No idea what the real plan is here, but I think a metal skeleton 'fleshed-out' with deep crystal would be pretty cool)

Fin goes a little green in the face at the thought of replacing Raknesh's arm with part of a corpse.

ooc: Oooh that would be cool Prizzard!

Raina looks amused at everyone's hesitations. A construct could work but honestly, being the daughter of death himself I have my strengths in certain places. There is no need to fear necromancy when done properly and if we do go with a corpse hand, not only will I be able to make it look good, I may be able to enhance it to our advantage. Of course if you would rather have a useless lump of arm instead that may be arranged she shrugs with a half smirk. It is clear she is in favor of the corpse hand but she waits for Raknesh to determine what he really wants.

Meanwhile Fin, you are feeling quite invigorated after your ordeal. Unusually so actually. In fact you can't remember the last time you have ever felt so good. It is puzzling to say the least...

"What do you have in mind, exactly" asked Raknesh.
"I don't want to have something that would scare people, or something that doesn't look 'alive'"

"Scaring and enslaving is more of her father's deal then hers."  Stefan opines while keeping his eyes on Jett

"Thanks again, Stefan. That blood made the spell far easier to figure out." He keeps his eyes and primary attention on the issue of the missing arm.

Raina blushes and smiles at Stefan's comment, grateful that he seems to know her intentions so well. In answer to Raknesh's question she frowns in thought. Well, I'm not going to lie, it won't look like the other one. I can perhaps do a construct of the corpse limb and another material in order to improve it. You won't have a grotesque arm by any means, it just won't quite match the other one and I'm sure it won't scare people though there are always long sleeves and gloves should you wish to keep it more discreet. Do you have an idea of a type of material I could blend it with? What is your favorite color? her grin at the last question leads you to think she's at least partly joking though for a second you almost take her seriously.

"I was more concerned about whether Shaelis or Lord Death could take some degree of control over the 'new' arm."

Raknesh looked at his wound, at Halek, then at Raina before sighing again.

Although he could very well fight without one hand, their mission was already hard enough and both hands might be more than useful...

"Does it have to be from the cemetery?  Can't you use a 'fresher' hand? " he asked
still not believing he just asked that.

ooc: Lol! I don't know why but that struck me as really funny

Hm....a good point she nods in appreciation at Prizzard. That could be troublesome. However, if I add enough of another element to it I think it would change the structure enough that he should be able to keep control. Smart thinking. she turns to Raknesh then and gives a small laugh of amusement. A fresher hand? Yes, that would be fine. We should find a hospital or surgery then, find something recently dismembered. My what a grisly subject she wrinkles her nose. I think there is a surgical hospital a few towns north. It won't be out of the way. Still, you do need to start thinking about your secondary material. Do you want crystal, quartz, stone, wood? Think about an element that would suit you. If Prizzard and Halek are willing to help I think it could turn out quite successful.

At the mention of crystals and quartz, Fin reaches into his bag and pulls out a smaller pouch. He moves over to where Raknesh is standing opens the pouch taking out a handful of assorted gems. "Not that you can use my hoard, but this should help to get you an idea of the look of different materials."

ooc: Ok, I'm gonna move things along soon, just wanted to clarify Raknesh's desires and then to the surgical hospital we go! Let me know your character's plans for the next couple days and we'll get going. If there's nothing new by monday I'll move us along then. And Fin, I think that's really cute that he's so adamant about his gems are to look at only, lol.

Raknesh looked at Fin's gems with a amused smile.
"They are lokking very nice, thanks" he said.

At the same time, Rocky landed on his shoulder.
Looking at Raina he asked "I don't suppose you could work with him without hurting him?
 As he is, in fact, already a part of myself, it would feel safer but I need him safe and still independant."

Prizzard will offer some sparring after camp setup each night, and after the setup he will retreat to a tree as usual, seeming to practice his magic. By now he sleeps only 2 hours each night, which he takes once the others begin waking in the morning. (Basically, nobody needs to take watch)

Raina gives you a reassuring smile and nods at the question, informing you that there will be no risk involved if she has time to take things slowly.

During the next few days Raina chats with Stefan and Raknesh, she is closest to them it seems no doubt out of her initial encounter with them.

Halek talks to the newcomers, especially curious about Bryon's eyes and he asks her endless questions about who she is and where she came from and what she wants to do. It's nice to see him behaving like a child again instead of his usual grave self.

Loden helps with keeping Jett in order and as long as Prizzard's familiar keeps him asleep you have thus far no trouble with him though he gives everyone an uneasy feeling and Halek watches the still form with a haunted look and has difficulty sleeping during this time.

At last you reach the hospital, a three story stone building that looms on a hill a half a mile from the village. You are able to find a reasonably priced inn and by now it is early evening. Plenty of time to still go to the surgery and find what you seek. Loden volunteers to stay behind with Jett and Prizzard's familiar if he is so inclined, just to make sure he stays asleep. In the meantime anyone who wishes may come to the hospital with Raina. It is an eerie sight sitting on the high hill so isolated. Even at this distance you can see what appears to be stone slabs poking up at the bottom of the hill. A graveyard, no doubt for the patients who never left the hospital alive.

ooc: Just giving people a chance to decide who wants to go to the hospital and who (if any) goes elsewhere. The village is decent sized so there are a few shops and things still open though of course everyone is more than welcome to go to the hospital together if they so desire.

Ever looking for more adventure, Bryon follows along to the hospital.

Stefan follows with Raina and Raknesh, eager to help the man who ventured in to the land of death try and repair some of the damage he suffered.

Curious as to how the hand will be replaced, Fin follows along to the hospital

While they traveled , Raknesh looked from time to time at his wound, completely healed now thanks to the powers of Stefan. The fear of getting wounded had lost some of its edge since the powerful druid joined their group.

As they approached the hospital, Raknesh nearly went left toward the village instead going right toward the hospital. But the group's entropy, most of them already walking toward the - now - dreaded place, somehow forced him to keep going.

"I can't help but having a bad feeling about this..."

Prizzard sticks by Jett for now

Having some errands to run Tanzy opts to stay in the village. "But send your rock if there is any trouble," she adds to Raknesh as they part ways. Hopefully the trip to the hospital would be productive and uneventful.

Prizzard: You and Loden end up at the inn, stowing the still unconscious Jett in a room along with your familiar if you wish. Loden suggests a game of cards and should you be agreeable to it the game goes on for about twenty minutes or so before you start to hear the sounds of something going on downstairs. Shouts, screams and sounds of the door crashing open are clearly audible even up here...

Tanzy: The village is bigger than most though it is far smaller than a city. It has some very intriguing shops...

Everyone else: You end up having to walk through the cemetery to get to the hospital and it is an unsettling trek. The stones are in a state of disrepair, moss covering the wrought iron fence surrounding it and leafless trees with gnarled branches twist and turn like hands reaching out for you. The hospital itself looms with its stark brick facade though the numerous windows blink with lamp light. There are many people about it would seem. When you get closer Raina turns to you all uncertainly. I don't think we can really just ask for an arm. There are too many necromancers and such for them to give up such things freely. The value of fresh body parts is more than most realize and there are many who would keep them out of the hands of others in order to prevent possible mischief. We will need to be sneaky about this unfortunately. We will have to lie and what's more probably split up. I don't know where they keep their remains and I can't search the whole place by myself. We will need some to look outside for an entrance, perhaps in the basement, if they incinerate the body parts that is where it will be The surgery is inside so that is another place to look. Lastly there should be a morgue. We want an arm that is male, obviously and in good condition. You needn't bring the whole body if you find it just cut off at least mid arm so I have plenty of flesh to work with. We'll meet back here in half an hour. You will likely be questioned so I suggest lying and saying you are here to see patients. We should pretend not to know each other I'm thinking, work in pairs or small groups. Who wants to go where?

Bryon thought aloud, "Perhaps one of us should attempt to bargain for the arm. If successful then a boon. If not then at least a distraction has been created?"

Stefan frowns as she finishes going over her plan and then interjects, his voice hesitant, "I have no experience with lying, and I doubt that means I will be good at it.  Someone who is adept at this needs to be near me, or I will just have to remain silent if questioned."

Bryon nodded, "I do have experience with lying, and if the one I am lying to is male, all the better. Athol, you should go with one of the other groups. I will be flirting and I don't want the one I flirt with to get a mace in the face."

"I'm not much of a liar myself per-say, But I can see if I can find a way into the basement from outside."

"While I'm not used to deceive people, I am very good at stealth. And I believe I can help with the search" said Raknesh.

Lifting his good hand, upon with is currently moving Rocky he added
"Firstly I can link our minds, or at least the minds of those willing, to allow quick communication.  Secondly, Rocky can travel and get a good look on his own, so that's one team for free."

Stepping close to Sonnenixxus, he shares the Storm Touch spell and attempts casting the Greater Invisibility spell, failing.. twice.. He looks a bit frustrated before trying again slower, succeeding. "Loden, act as if I am not here." With both him and his familiar invisible and armed with magic, keeping still, the enemy may be in for a surprise.

Raina looks pleased at the planning. Very well. Fin and Stefan, why don't you two take the basement? Athol can keep watch outside, make sure no one is coming, and can warn us with Raknesh's mind link if things start to look bad. Raknesh, you, Halek and Rocky take the morgue and Bryon and I will take the surgery as it will be the most populated. Am I forgetting anyone?

ooc: Ok, so for the basement duo I will need move silently,hide and lock picking checks. Also roll a general spot/listen/search check please.

For those INSIDE you can either choose to sneak in which case roll all the same ones as above save for lock picking or if you choose the fast talking route roll diplomacy/bluff checks and of course the same search/listen/spot checks.

The sounds of screams and fighting quickly end which does not bode well for things. Several moments later you hear someone approaching up the stairs and Loden draws his sword, obeying your instructions to pretend he is alone with Jett's still form. The door is slammed open as if by some magic force and in the doorway stands a beautiful woman with auburn hair and hard eyes. You recognize her immediately as the woman who attacked your group a couple months ago, Rallia Halek called her, and as you recall she was difficult to face even with multiple people. This could be bad...She does not seem to see you but instead smirks at the sight of Loden alone. I remember you... she smirks. How lovely to see you again. Now, I'm here for my master. Give him up now and I'll kill you quickly. However that said I would be disappointed if it were that easy her grin widens.

Prizzard holds for a moment, ready to attack if she shows aggression. Sonnenixxus also waits, but relays a message to Loden: "Maybe she'll let some information slip if she's overconfident.. Or you could pretend to be interested in an alliance.."

Bryon used both guile and natural charisma to spin a yarn that would be believable.

Fin gives Raina a smile and nod, before heading out to find a way into the basement.

ooc: Dang Fin! You're handy!

Fin/Stefan: You are able to find a cellar door easily and Fin picks the lock so easily it is almost laughable though it is more a testament to his skill then the complexity of the lock. Thus far you also seem to go unnoticed which makes looking for body parts all the more easy. As you step into the dark basement you find it is full of boxes, crates, shelves and various storage items. The floor is damp and the air smells strongly of mildew. There are a few hanging lamps that have been lit but it is difficult to see. Off in the far corner there is what appears to be an incinerator though it does not appear to be made for flesh. Near it you see a small cot with dusty linens that seem to have been slept in recently. There is a half drunk bottle of wine and what appears to be a diary...

Bryon: You and Raina head up to the surgery and are fortunate to run across a male attendant, all the better for Bryon. Using your considerable charms you weave a story about trying to find your father. He had been wounded in a skirmish in the woods and you were told by a witness he was badly hurt. Now you are checking local healers for the man. The orderly is sympathetic to the news and though he knows he shouldn't he agrees to let you come back and look with him. Through the mental connection Raina communicates with you. I'm going to try to slip away while you distract him. I can't just find an arm and take it in front of him. As he walks you through the doors you follow closely, trying to help Raina get an opportunity to do her search. The sudden sounds of a terrified scream jolts your attention though. It is coming from down the hallway.

Prizzard: Loden mentally informs you he will try though you can see the uncertainty in his eyes. He steels himself and proceeds to take your suggestion. Actually I will not hinder you at all. I already made a deal with your master secretly but my foolish companions have been keeping him asleep. I was just waiting for the right opportunity to get him out, only I can't seem to wake him... She looks a bit dubious but he is surprisingly smooth in the lie. She goes to examine the prostrate Jett. Well this is aggravating. Alright then man, prove your loyalty. Help me remove him she points to her master. Loden mentally starts to panic. What should I do?

Raknesh and Halek began their own investigation.
The plan is for Raknesh to move in stealth and for Halek to follow as he can. Rocky will help them by scouting ahead.

Should Halek be noticed without any way to distract whoever noticed something (like by some noises, 'screams' heard from another direction... all of those another job for Rocky thanks to his powers) he will play to lost teenager looking for his aunt (meaning either Rania or Bryon, whichever he would meet first^^)

Bryon heard the scream and asked the young man, "Shouldn't you go and make sure everything is alright?"

He couldn't reply mentally without telepathy of his own, but I'd have the same message relayed either way:  "Take the legs, walk backward like a good assistant would." Sonnenixxus will delay action till she moves, I will delay until after his turn. I wish I had asked Halek more about her abilities..

Raknesh: Halek is obedient, trailing behind carefully, the young boy the picture of innocence. It is unlikely anyone here would bother him and if they should you would soon know of it.

You and Rocky are able to sneak through the darkened corridors with great ease. The oil lamps attached to the walls light your way though there is something eerie and gloomy about the dim flickering lighting. But then you are going to the morgue, what did you expect? Outside it starts to rain, coming down quite heavily. There are several rooms lining this floor though they seem to be empty and the rooms are barren as though they haven't been used for some time. At the end of the hallway is a pair of swinging wooden doors that have a gap above and below them as they do not cover the entire doorway. This allows you to peek above or below as you see fit. As you close in towards this entrance you hear muttering and snapping noises. Should you venture nearer you see a large room filled with about twenty or so metal tables. It is lit brightly with more of those lamps and you can see easily. On these tables are sheet covered corpses and though you've seen a lot in your days there is something particularly unsettling about them. What's worse though is the figure in the middle of the room. A squat weathered dwarf from the look of him. He is sitting on top of one of the corpses, a woman who seems freshly dead. He has one foot on her arm pit and he is using her for leverage as he pulls and twists the arm. You can see he has made several clumsy cuts at her shoulder and a moment later there is a sickening sound as her arm pops off! Panting and grumbling from his exertion he then to your horror wipes off some of the blood on her sheet and then starts to gnaw at the flesh greedily.

Bryon: The orderly gives you a reassuring smile. Oh don't concern yourself my dear. It is only one of the lunatics in the mental ward. They have fits quite often. I'm afraid that you'll have to get used to such noises for the surgery is adjacent to it. I can go have someone beat them into silence if you like, it tends to work for a while. He seems to think he is offering you a great kindness to do such a thing and you get the impression he is trying to flirt with you, albeit in a very clumsy way.

Prizzard: Loden obeys smoothly, picking up Jett's lower half and obediently starting to follow Rallia out. She looks slightly surprised that he is indeed obeying her but her smirk indicates she is pleased as well. She grips his arms and starts to leave the way she came. Loden communicates through Sonnenixxus. What now....?

Bryon went back to attempting to distract him. "Oh really? Your job sounds so very dangerous." She said this the way a woman who admired bull riders might say to such a man. "There is no need to beat anyone, I do not mind...screaming. In fact I like to scream myself on occasion."

'hum... guys... I don't know about your search, but I just reached the morgue...
And there is a cannibalistic dwarf currently eating one of the corpses.'

Sent Raknesh, a bit uneasy.

Staying hidden, he sent Rocky to get a closer, discreet, look at the bodies... and maybe at the dwarf.

Raknesh himself gathered his strength, ready to strike if needed.

Fin will do his best to sneak over and retrieve the "journal" and then make a cursory glace around as the items stored here.

First Sonnenixxus stings twice and misses a bite, almost simultaneously Prizzard uses his belt to rapidly cast a debilitating spell.  His remaining action depends on the outcome of the debilitating attacks.

As the door opens under Finn's skillful fingers, Stefan shimmers and his form resolves in to that of a common cat, just like several that he had seen around the yard.  He walks in to the middle of the room, all the mannerisms of the common arrogance that cats find native to them, obvious as he looks around the basement, the cat surveying what it obviously considers its own by rights.

Bryon: The man blinks at your words and a large lecherous grin crosses his face. Raina looks slightly shocked and then amused as though she wants to laugh but manages to keep it in. She starts to slip away at this point, seeing her chance now that he is distracted. You continue further into the surgery but the screams are even more intense down the hall, much as you try to ignore them. Suddenly you hear the sounds of a door banging open and several folk running down the halls. You glance back to see a woman in a nightgown, hair wild and clothes disheveled. She sees you and runs to you desperately, followed closely by two orderlies. Please help me! I'm not crazy, please!! she throws herself at your feet.

Fin: As you glance over the journal you see it is written by someone named Innux. From what you skim you gather he is a cleaning man here and his writing becomes increasingly agitated. He speaks of bodies, blood, and madmen, all too gruesome to bear without the aid of strong wine which he appears to be getting reliant on. Then a particular entry catches your eye:

The experiments have got to stop! Someone is bound to come looking for them and if they find them here we are all set for the gallows! I wish I could stop it, I wish I had the guts to do anything but they watch me too close. Those poor souls! What madness rules these halls? I must find a way out! I will not stay here longer! You note the entry is from last week, there are no others.

Stefan: As your companion flips through what appears to be a journal you see there are many odd ingredients lining the shelves and thrust into boxes and crates half open from frequent use. There are certainly medical supplies but there are some other darker ingredients too, ones used in spells if your memory serves correctly, and dark spells at that. You also notice a strange pipe in the corner of the room that leads up into the ceiling and disappears underground. This would not normally attract your attention much but as you investigate your keen sense of smell draws you near. Running down the pipe in a tiny leak you see what caught your nose. Blood.

Prizzard: She is stung once but is able to shake off the sting and your spell though you can see she struggles to do so. Furious, she quickly drops her master's body, somehow doing so carefully even as she draws a wicked looking black bladed short sword. You have betrayed me! she hisses at Loden who quickly shakes his head and protests. No, I wouldn't! You must be fighting Prizzard! I will help you! he draws his own sword though you can see he is uncertain. She ignores him and lunges after you, slashing at you twice, or at least where she judges you to be after you have attacked her. Fortunately your own attacks were successful. You have a fight on your hands.
Her first attack hits, slicing your arm but the second one misses thanks to your invisibility. You do feel something tainting your wound already though but considering her dark link to your enemies this does not come as a surprise.

From his position by the bloody pipe the cat turns and meows loudly at Finn, tracting his attention towards the strange offending pipe.

Putting the Journal in his pack, he moves to examine the pipe Stefan the cat has found. "Hmmm" he sounds curiously. Grabbing a piece of the dusty linen from the cot, Fin wipes it along the pipe, verifying that it's blood. "This cannot be good", he whispers to the cat. Looking around, he examines the pipe more closely without touching it.

Raknesh: As you watch the dwarf it is all you can do not to gag as he tears into the dead flesh savagely. He eats for some time this way, making an absolute mess and gorging himself hungrily. Halek hears your description via Rocky and makes a small whimper, declaring he will come out when it is safe. Apparently even a half god can be squeamish of cannibals. Suddenly a pair of doors across the room in the morgue opens and a man comes rushing out looking irritated. There you are! I might have known! Look at the mess you've made! Well I'll deal with you later, for now it's back to the basement with you! He calls behind him and two more men enter, holding chains and manacles. The dwarf seems intent on his meal rather then his soon to be captors.

Fin/Stefan: The pipe leads underground and upon feeling it the metal is warm slightly. It must drain somewhere. Looking at the welds you can see now why there is blood. One of the seams has a small hole in it. From the looks of it the pipe is to drain blood, a disturbing sight indeed. Coupled with the diary Fin found this place is beginning to stink of something sinister.

To Loden: "Attack him!"
In the first round Prizzard attacks with his usual rapid assault, two of the attacks glancing off her defenses, but still delivering a shocking blast on contact. Afterward, he tries to hop aside quietly, but lands poorly. Perhaps with all the noise of the fight and Loden scrambling into position she just might miss the sound..
To Loden: "Betrayer!"
On the next round he measures his options better and attacks at a normal pace, carefully slicing once at the woman and then Loden, setting himself up for a strong lean on his weapon, making it sound like he moved onto a particularly creaky board.
To Loden: "That should give you merit.."

Finished with her shopping Tanzy heads back toward the inn...

Bryon continued in character. "This poor creature will be treated well, I assume?"

Until someone tells her otherwise she will continue with the charade.

As the men disappeared, holding their... prisoner? guinea pig? ... Raknesh sent another message to the team.

'I don't know what you have found currently, but I'm beginning to wonder where we ended... Anyways, with the state he left the corpses, I suppose I should be able to get one hand without raising too much suspicion...'

And, once he is certain - rocky proofed - that the area is empty, he will move along the bodies to see if he could find what he was looking for... while trying to keep his cool and his stomach's content...

Tanzy: You head back to the inn and as you near you hear screams and shouts of passerby. A trail of violently murdered corpses seems to lead to the inn and panicked people are fleeing the area. Should you go inside you find the common room is equally bloody and the sounds of a struggle rage upstairs.

Raknesh: Raina communicates back to you. I know what you mean. Bryon and I are by the surgery, well I've slipped away for the moment. It seems there is a lunatic institution here too, something I was unaware of. I'm going to take a look around, see what I can discover. As for you, try to pick the freshest arm you can. Make sure you cut it off above the elbow, it gives me plenty of flesh to work with, horrible as that sounds. ooc: Roll a search check to see how easily you find a good corpse

Fin/Stefan: As you investigate the pipe you notice there seems to be a loud banging sound coming your way as though something were falling towards you. You notice there is a trap door of sorts in the ceiling across the room and to your surprise a blood covered dwarf lands in a heap on the dusty floor. Under normal circumstances you would be concerned for the poor soul but having just heard about a corpse eating mad dwarf from Raknesh you can't help but be concerned this is the same person...

Bryon: The orderly nods quickly though he drags her off of you roughly. Of course, we're treating her madness, you must excuse her antics he looks embarrassed that she should be accosting you. Two others come and drag her away though she continues to plead and scream for you. Now, to the surgery it is. Let us see if your father is indeed with us he gestures. Raina speaks in your mind through Raknesh's link, therefore everyone can hear. If Raknesh finds a good arm for him you can feel free to make your excuses and get out. Prizzard:

She hisses in pain when you manage to harm her and her black blade finds you again, though thankfully you shake off the ill effects of your previous wound. The same iciness threatens to engulf you again though as she nicks you across the leg though she misses with her second attack. The next round she decides on a different tactic, stretching forth her hand and releasing a ray of energy that misses you by a centimeter. Even the presence of it as it flows past you is so heinous and vile that you are incredibly grateful that she missed. You only hope you will be as lucky next time. Meanwhile Loden tries to attack you too but misses, whether from your invisibility or his attempts at not actually harming you, you are uncertain.

Bryon smiled and "pshawed" at the whole affair. "Yes, lets do that. If he is here I should make ready for a proper burial. If not...perhaps a tour? Your work here is so fascinating."

'Well, with that has happened to us, I don't think it's pure bad luck we ended here'
sent Raknesh while looking around.

He was trained to notice subtle variation of his surrounding but his trained senses to look around hindered a bit his short distance vision.

Rocky tried his best to help, as he apparently didn't mind to walk on the bodies to check the texture and 'freshness'

When the creature hits the floor, Fin tries to melt back into the shadows of the basement.

Stefan sees Fin go one way to hide and immediately bounds 3 feet the other way before letting out the scared caterwaul of the house cat, a noise designed by nature to attract attention. With the noise made, Stefan crouches on the floor, his hair standing on end as he waits to see what the dwarf does

Sensing the danger this woman poses, Prizzard takes a metered approach. His careful first strike would have missed if she could see it, but it lands and sets up her recoil perfectly for a terrible slash down her leg, laying it open well. Through it all, he pays close attention to her well-being. She's proven to be quite durable so far..

Raknesh: Indeed. I had no idea this place was so nefarious. If we can right whatever wrong is happening here we should. I am going to the asylum wing as we speak. There is something that doesn't feel right. Once you've done with the arm get it to Bryon's husband outside and join me if you like. I would prefer not to be alone. And send Halek outside too, this is no place for him. Raina suggests via Rocky. In the meantime you are able to find a suitable looking arm that is fairly fresh though it is a great deal paler then your other one, but then one can't be too picky you suppose. Should you go about cutting it you will find the muscles are stiff and a thick coagulated blood oozes out, this is alarmingly messy business and it's all you can do not to gag as you work. Hopefully it will seem less gruesome when it is in its new home...

Stefan/Fin: Fin manages to scramble behind the boiler unnoticed but Stefan is quickly sought by the strange dwarf. He is animalistic in his mannerisms, hunched and moving in jerky sporadic motions, growling and gnashing his teeth hungrily. He is covered in blood, most likely the corpses he was feeding on according to Raknesh. Seeing the cat he immediately runs towards it with alarming speed and Stefan, you get the sense he would eat you if he could. ooc: Roll a reflex check and a spot to see if you find a place to hole up fast enough ;P

Prizzard:

As you watch her fight you see that her wounds tend to improve incredibly fast. Either she is using an item or amulet or she herself has some kind of healing ability. This could be more difficult then anticipated.
Your blow to her leg makes her screech in fury and she stretches forth her hand and a ray of black energy shoots out and unfortunately hits you. Immediately you feel your blood vessels tighten and the pores of your skin burst with drops of blood, it is as though you are being squeezed internally and the pain is immense. You struggle against the affects...

Stefan the cat, bounds away as the bloody dwarf charges, making for a hole he had eyed as he drew the savage things attention with the liquid speed of the common housecat, hissing as he passed by the dwarf.

Now looking very much as pale as the severed hand, Raknesh wrapped it to form a mundane looking package then moved back toward Halek.

"I need you to go with Rocky and meet Byron's husband with this package.  Wait for us and stay with him, for your own protection.  There is something wicked here and we are going to look deeper."

He then ruffled the boy's hair to easy his worries (his and Halek's) and sent him away.

'I'm on the move' he sent to Raina.
"Rocky, stay with Halek and keep us in touch".

Bryon: The man looks properly flattered and grins. Well I wouldn't want you to be curious...he smiles lecherously. But there are a few places even I don't have access to though they are all not the sorts of places a fine lady like you should visit anyway. And I know the lunatic asylum would be less then pleasing he adds. But first let us see about your father shall we? He leads you into the surgery and you see a large room with white sheeted beds and about a dozen patients. Many of them are missing limbs, their bloody stumps wrapped in gauze and their eyes glazed over in a drugged fog. Some of them whimper in pain as a woman tends to them. He looks at you expectantly, waiting.


Raknesh: Halek eyes the arm with a pale face but bravely takes it though he looks like he wants to drop the horrific thing. He gives you a hug around the waist and then runs to join Ulthol. Soon you find yourself following Raina's directions toward the asylum. Already you can hear screams coming from the corridor and as you round the corner you see a woman in a bloody shift being dragged down the hall by two men as she begs for help, sobbing and flailing. You also notice a strange mark on her bare leg, a sigil of some kind perhaps? Fortunately no one seems to notice you...

Stefan: ooc: Nice!
You avoid the dwarf easily and rush to safety as he howls in rage. He seems furious and for a while he has a fit, throwing things, hitting the floor (heedless of hurting himself) and grinding his teeth. It is several minutes before he calms down and he tries to reach in after you but you are too well out of reach. At last he stalks to the little cot in the corner and curls up on it, strangely at home there. Fin, you can't help but remember the journal you skimmed through and a dark theory starts to tickle your mind...

Bryon makes a show out of examining each one. When done she feigned the necessary sadness. "Oh well I am sure he will turn up somewhere."

She threaded her arm through her guide's. "Oh I am sure that you can show me much that will keep my interest." She winked. Men were just too easy. Physically women might be weaker, but men were just easy to manipulate. She would never do so to Althol, but all other men were fair game.

Staying perfectly still, Fin waits to see if the "dwarf" falls asleep.

Staggering and grumbling as he fights off the effect before composing himself to respond: "You'll have to teach me that spell sometime.." He maintains a cautious approach and barely gets past her armor on the first strike, but slices along her collarbone immediately after, closely missing a critical artery. At this point Sonnenixxus pulls his stinger loose from Jett to stab at the woman again before lodging it back in Jett.

"Bloody hell," Tanzy muttered picking her way through the bodies inside. Without a doubt the struggles upstairs involved her companions so she wasted little time making her way up to their rooms. As much as she wanted to keep her presence unknown until the last moment the stairs creaked more than she would have liked.

Stefan squirmed forward to the edge of his hidey-hole, watching Finn and the dwarf, waiting.

Raknesh saw the strange sign but failed to recognize it. Thinking once again that he should have learned a bit more before leaving to travel around the world, he decided to follow the strange group, waiting to see what would happen.

With their history, he decided not to act before getting more information... you never knew what could hide behind a damsel in distress these days...

Prizzard/Tanzy: Tanzy bursts in during the fray to see Rallia, the stranger you faced with the group several weeks before. You had a hard time defeating her with all of you there so now that it is just the three of you against her you know you're in for quite a battle. You manage to hit her quite squarely in the back with your rapiers and she screeches in fury, especially along with Prizzard's defenses. I will teach you a great many things before I am through she sneers at Prizzard's comment and then raises her hands and fire instantly fills most of the room though she is particularly aiming it from the direction she was stung from, realizing that something must have been there to sting her as it did. Fortunately you are able to keep your wits about you in spite of the pain though the fireball is a distraction at the moment. You both note that she is starting to do poorly and panic is filling her eyes. ooc: Roll a reflex save please, dc 16. If you succeed you take half damage unless of course you have evasion.

Bryon: After verifying that your 'father' is in fact not there he is quite pleased to show you about though at one point he offers to show you a particularly abandoned section of the hospital so that you two can be alone...

Stefan/Fin: After several minutes of huffling and growling in irritation the dwarf at last drifts off to sleep. For now anyway....ooc: If you are going to move roll silently again please.

Raknesh: You follow the woman and her captors, she never lets up on the noise but they ignore her, one even striking her roughly. At last they reach their destination, a large room with several cots on it, all with patients strapped immobile. Some twist and squirm, some cry and shriek and others simply lay there in a glazed stupor. They force the woman on a cot and to your horror shove some wicked looking needles into her with a strange brown liquid inside. Hold her steady! I need her still while I inject her. Let us hope she turns out better than that wretched dwarf one of them grumbles.

After hearing the Dwarf drift off to sleep, Fin tries to quietly move from his hiding spot. Very slowly, he draws his sword and approaches the creature with a frown. He always hating taking a life but sometime it was unavoidable. If everything he perceived from the Link was true, he'd actually be doing this poor wretch a favor. moving with what grace he can muster he moves to end the dwarf while it's asleep.

Bryon gave him a bit of mock indignation, "Really sir, do you think I am that sort of girl? I believe if you want me alone you must at least offer to take me to dinner."

Now this he couldn't let happen. He could not allow the woman to be possibly turned into the same monstrosity he saw earlier.
'Raina, I'm afraid I have to show myself.' he sent while aiming for the needle, or at least the arm holding it.

"Cozy.. You must wonder what happened to your master, how we subdued him." Two quick cuts  bite in, the first with the usual crack of the spell and the second with a rough sizzle. The crackling of the spell comes to an end just as he speaks one arcane syllable.

Tanzy avoided the fireball with a curse. She wasn't sure exactly what had been going on before she'd arrived but she didn't take time to ask questions. That witch had nearly killed them the last time they'd met. With a flash of her rapiers she attacked again.

Bryon: The man laughs, pleased that you at least haven't slapped his face. Alright, let's go now then! I can slip off, no one will notice. He grins devilishly.

Prizzard/Tanzy: ooc: Lol, practically! Poor Loden...

After the fireball Loden literally crawls away. He is almost to death and he decides he had best get out while he can. Meanwhile Rallia is feeling the affects of Prizzard and Tanzy's attacks and she is looking afraid. It matters not. I will free him! she snarls. I will return With that she turns towards Tanzy, who is blocking her way out, and touches her arm, releasing a blackness as dark as night into the room. Tanzy, you feel an intense draining and nearly collapse right there. It is as though someone has sucked the very marrow from your bones you are so incredibly weakened. Upon completing the spell the woman starts to run...

Raknesh: You manage to knock the glass needle out of the man's hand and it falls to the ground, shattering. He swears and looks around furiously. His men ask what happens and he snaps that something hit his arm. None of them seem to have spotted you miraculously! The woman looks terrified and starts to cry, mostly out of relief though she is not safe yet. Get another one then! Hurry it up! he snaps to his men. Meanwhile you hear Raina in your head. I'm on my way! Where are you? I can be there in a couple of minutes I'm sure!

Stefan/Fin: The halfling is miraculously quiet as he sneaks to his victim and neatly severs his jugular. The dwarf's eyes pop open as he gurgles and clutches at his throat but he is dead within moments though he creates quite a mess in doing so. At last the thing is quiet, leaving you in the mysterious room alone with the wide eyed corpse.

Bryon smirked at the young man's eagerness. Young men were always soooo eager. She threaded her arm through his, allowing him to lead.

In the sudden moment he decided to trip her, likely succeeding with his unexpectable movements. Quickly he swipes the last energy from his belt for a near-instant casting of Storm Touch, but with one hand on a rod hanging from his belt, changing the spell to ice. One attack leaves frost on her leg, another ices a patch of the floor. Sonnenixxus imparts to Loden and Tanzy: "Escape while you can, she is sure to lash out!"

As the dwarf bleeds out, Stefan stalks out of the hole he had escaped into and gazes up at Fin, questioning condescension on his face.

Fin says a quick prayer for the poor dwarf's soul before looking down at the cat. "We need to find another way out of this room." He then gives the body a quick check before carefully following the walls of the room looking for another way out. Mumbling to himself, "I can't see them taking the poor beast out the basement and through the front door, and even less likely that they would haul him back through the trap door." Fin will also take a pek into any of the boxes that are in here as well as he makes his way around.

Tanzy staggered away from the door. Her rapiers suddenly felt heavy in her hands and she struggled to hold onto them. Cursing she let the woman pass without trying to interfere.

The cat begins moving around the room, peering at everything with feline eyes, looking for anything that doesn't quite fit.

Raknesh thanked his luck - or the poor eyesight of the two men - and really wished rocky was still with him.  He could have helped him create a diversion.

Still, Raina's message was a good thing.

'I bought some time, but I don't know how long.' he sent, while giving her details about his location.

Prizzard/Tanzy: Rallia stumbles as Prizzard trips her and she looks down at her icy leg in fury, panting from her wounds and rage. I will see you suffer for this! she snaps and with that she completely withdraws, running towards the stairs as fast as she can...ooc: I believe that only invisible players get attacks of opportunity against withdrawing characters ;) If you decide to throw in ranged attacks as she runs keep in mind she is at the moment still inside the inn so she'll have a lot of cover. You can always try to follow and get a better shot when she gets outside.

Bryon: If you allow him to he will try to take you into town. Should you do so Ulthol will be outside so you can either avoid him or pass him though he knows you well enough he won't be too concerned.

Stefan/Fin: ooc: I love the condescending part! Ha, so true! Especially since I have a cat on my lap as I'm writing this.

Fin, you find several items of value, particularly crates of medical supplies and spell components, some quite rare and expensive. If you like you can fill your pockets or come back for it later.
You search through the place and fortunately Stefan's heightened senses enable you to find a trap panel in the wall which appears to be a small tunnel of some kind. Judging by its poor construction and size you wonder if the dwarf hadn't made it before he was turned. Fortunately you both are small enough at the moment you can go through unhindered. When you emerge on the other side of the tunnel you find yourselves in what appears to be a large community bathroom though it is literally seemingly for baths. There are several metal tubs lined against the walls and you note that oddly they seem to hold restraints on them. Most of them are clean looking but two of them to your surprise are covered in blood as well as the surrounding floor. From the looks of it, it is very fresh.

Raknesh: Raina informs you she is almost there and indeed a minute later she is at your side, looking like she ran the whole way. Meanwhile the poor woman is struggling against her bonds as her captors try to prepare their syringe again. I can't really sit by and watch this she shakes her head. But we're about to be in for it if we interfere. Are you wiling to join me? ooc: If so go ahead and roll a surprise round and then init, etc.

Bryon resisted going into town. "I am not ready to go now, silly man. I have to dress and fix my face. Hmmm...are there any other places you might show me here other than the one where we are alone of course." She winked.

In true cat-like fashion, Stefan glares around at both the mess and any water on the floor before hopping up to a surface that is both clean and dry, waiting for Fin, and his thumbs to interact with the room.

Prizzard/Tanzy: ooc: Prizzard PM'd me a trip attack, just so you don't think I'm pulling this out of nowhere, lol.

In spite of her attempts to scramble away Prizzard is able to trip her again and she looks incredibly furious about it. Panting with rage she raises her hand to cast at you....ooc: Go ahead and roll your next attack Prizzard (and Tanzy if she wishes). I can't recall but I believe you had the higher init. Go ahead and roll a fort save for time's sake though so I will have it ready when she unleashes.

Bryon: The man looks disappointed but recovers quickly. He soon takes you throughout the place but there are many areas he avoids and in spite of your attempts to pry into them he is firm, stating he will get into trouble and there are a great many things in a hospital that pretty ladies should not be exposed to. Indeed as you talk you hear several screams throughout and you sense there is something very wrong about this place. You also note that as your companion walks about the corridors he starts to look tired, unnaturally so, and there are dark circles forming under his eyes.

Stefan: You hear it only faintly but there is a distant slight thumping sound coming from down the hallway...

Bryon chidded, "There there, dear. If you need a rest, why not take a seat here. I won't mind a bit. Just sit and rest your eyes..."

The cats ears twitch and it turns its head to look down towards the hallway, before turning back to look at Fin and meowing at him.

Alright. But let's try not to kill them. I have a lot of questions ...

After quickly pocketing what valuables he could find, Fin looks down at the cat and makes to follow it. Hugging the wall as he moved, he did his best to not make a sound.

Hmmm.. I wonder what will happen here..

After Fin grabs what he can find, the cat rolls its eyes before with the grace of a feline, leading him towards the noise, making sure to keep his paws clean.

Bryon: He takes a seat gratefully, breathing heavily. Um... perhaps it is best that you go. I will meet up with you later... I'm not feeling well I'm afraid Even as he speaks he pales visibly before your eyes and you see blood tinging the corners of his lips.

Raknesh: Raina nods and in she goes, shocking them all with a violet colored ball of energy which knocks the man with the syringe back. They draw their swords, ready to do battle and one of them hurls a knife at you which unfortunately lodges itself in your leg. Fortunately it is no mortal wound by any means and the other men are not as lucky in their aim...ooc: Take 3 damage please and roll your round. There are five men, Raina and the bound woman.

Stefan/Fin: Fin doesn't find much, just a few strange syringes that are mostly empty, some towels and a pile of cast off clothes which happen to have several copper pieces in them, adding up to thirty total. As you then follow Stefan you eventually hear the thumping as well and as you sneak down the hallway you come to what appears to be several locked doors with the top third part of the door made of bars, obviously cells of some kind. Most seem to be asleep or dazed. The thumping is coming from a woman in the cell at the end of the hall, her eyes are glazed over and she is repeatedly banging her head against the bars though she seems to feel no pain. Blood oozes down her face but she keeps up the unnerving bangs.

Prizzard: You feel a suddenly icy taint upon your arm and she watches with sudden satisfaction as she starts to back away. You have two choices. You can either let me go and I will release you from my spell or you can kill me and turn into a ghoul within a few minutes. The first choice we both live to fight another day the second, well I think that is the more foolish option but you will do as you will. I can be resurrected and when I come back I will have you serve me, that is if your friend here isn't forced to kill you before then. she glances at Tanzy. Indeed as she talks you glance at your hand to see it whiten and whither slightly. You can feel your life force starting to sap away...

Bryon dashes off to find Prizzard.

"Your 'Lord' seems to have taught me better than he taught you." His invisibility spell is dismissed just as his arm falls to the floor, arcing electrical current from both sides of the wound. "No Mercy." A mix of vengeance, combat adrenaline, and pain flare in his eyes as he casts the spell one more time, making the precise motions by hand this time before gesturing an enraged grasp in her direction.

STefan stops in front of the door containing the woman and stares at her a moment before meowing at her.

"Oh Prizzard," Tanzy muttered wincing at the destruction before her. She was not surprised that he hadn't let the woman go. Rapiers ready she stood protectively in front of Loden ready to face what happened next.

ooc: Lol! We need another order of arm at table 2! You and Raknesh can be twins :P Luckily for you she rolled crappy. And nice snark there too! Fight scenes always need some epic banter :)

Prizzard/Tanzy: Prizzard's spells do their trick and she slumps on the floor, screaming in pain and agony as her eyes cloud with blood and boils emerge on her skin. A moment later he seemingly finishes her off with his flames and she falls back, limp and still. Should you investigate you will see she is still alive but just barely and she is unconscious. Meanwhile Prizzard's arm removal has weakened him and though her spell is fading, you can feel it sapping your strength as it starts to leave your body. Consequently it is all you can do not to pass out yourself though you manage to keep upright and in mostly one piece. Loden watches the scene with shock, looking badly burned and weakened but thankfully alive also. That was...ridiculous. he pants.

Stefan/Fin: The woman does not respond, instead it is as though she is only half alive. Her eyes are not only distant but there is a filmy glaze to them that makes you wonder just how alive she actually is. It is...disconcerting. ooc: Hee hee! Stefan's so cute as a kitty!

As she writhes he casts storm touch, but touching something under his cloak during the spell causes it to form as fire, a gauntlet with a bracer made of 12 rings. As he kneels to grab her head he states "My mother would be disappointed". As he focuses, the rings joint the gauntlet and the fire becomes blue, the heat can be felt around the room. Then in one pulse the fire dissapates, vaporizing nearby flesh. Afterward he sees her wounds still slowly healing and looks up to Tanzy. "It's not over, and I can do no more.." He's visibly struggling to stay upright on his knees, his amputation steadily cauterizing itself.

OOC: Actually, I'm willing to be one-armed for a while. Character reasons I'll explain soon enough. Also, I feel like only that divine energy will kill her at this point, but Prizzard is rather reluctant to attempt that in this state.

Wrack 10/13

"You're crazy," Tanzy told Prizzard shaking her head in amazement. "You're going to kill yourself one of these days," she added as she set her rapiers aside and stooped to pick up Loden's long sword.

The blade was heavier than Tanzy's preferred rapiers but she carried it easily showing some experience with the weapon. Moving to their fallen foe she positioned the blade over the woman's throat and then raised it high. "I've never done this before. Might take a few tries." That said and so long as there are no objections she brings the blade down forcefully with the intent of removing the witches head.

Fin walks up to the cell his feline friend had stopped at, and looks at the poor woman. "I think she's suffering the same sickness as that dwarf". Stepping back he continues moving, looking for anything (else) that appears out of the norm

Bryon: Having had the convenient tour you are able to traverse the place fairly easily. You head straight to the off limits section the man refused to show you and are greeted with the sounds of a battle though it is a ways off. As you run down the corridor two men intercept you. Hey! This area is off limits! Get out now or we will be forced to make you one of them grips his sword hilt.

Raknesh: Rocky informs you that he and Halek are about halfway back to the inn and inquires if you are alright.

In the meantime three of your four arrows hit though your attackers are by no means down yet. Raina has freed the woman by this time and the poor thing races off in terror. One of the men attempts to rush after her. In the meantime Raina is stabbed in the leg and you are slashed in the arm though the others fortunately miss.

Fin/Stefan: It's hard to say with all the closed doors and you will need a stool to see inside properly (fortunately you find one easily) but from what you can see the cells are mostly full of sleeping or dazed prisoners. Should you call out to any you get no response. Meanwhile a man comes stumbling from around the corner. He looks up at you in surprise but he is too busy to care much why you are there for he is bleeding out of his mouth and trembling. H-Help me.... he stammers.

Tanzy/ Prizzard: Tanzy is able to finish the woman after a couple of hacks and her head rolls across the blood stained floor. You all stare for a moment, relieved that she seems to finally be dead. Loden is looking horrible and of course so is Prizzard who looks like he couldn't stand another good hit. Tanzy, you recall that you are now in a building full of murdered people. This could be interesting to explain soon. ooc: Sorry, I have to ask a few things before I put much more detail in!

Bryon smiled sweetly, belaying her fiery temperament. "Drop...dead."

E chain lets it hit 3 additional targets (1 per 4 levels) within 30' of each other. I am assuming that this is a fairly closed quarters affair so there should be at least 2 more within 30' feet of the first.
Vitrolic Blast acid damage, ignores S/R, and 2d6 additional damage each round 1/5 levels so 2 additional rnds.

The bloody scythe appears in his hand once more, a support for him to stand up. He doesn't look at the shriveled arm or the severed head, he watches the woman's wounds for a few seconds before looking to Tanzy and Loden with a face of relief and exhaustion. "I don't mind waiting for the authorities today.." He takes a few steps back and sits on a chair.

Once the job was done Tanzy dropped the sword. "I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner," Guilt was obvious on her face. Clearly she'd gotten through the fight far better than her companions. "Are you going to be okay?" she eyed what was left of Prizzard's arm concern filling her eyes. "I have some healing supplies and potions..." digging in her pack she produced a healing kit and some potions offering one to each of them.

Usually on the wrong side of the law, the idea of waiting for the authorities didn't appeal to Tanzy. But someone had to stay and explain what had happened. She only hoped more trouble didn't find them wile they waited.

"A potion would be most welcome" He let the weapon lean against the wall behind him, looking very much like the bounty posters a few cities had posted (most posters likely still pictured him as a teenage savage, eyes full of violent glee, as the framers had exaggerated..). He downed the potion immediately, the magic stopping the bleeding and partially closing the worst wounds. "Maybe it's good you didnt come earlier. Loden pretended to side with her to leave her attention on me, and that wound of his proved it to her. She was confident in her defenses, you would have been her first target." Indeed, Loren had one terrible wound, very much like what a scythe would normally leave if it were heated red-hot.

Fin's sword is instantly in his hand when he sees the man. Keeping him at length, "how can we help?" It's not that Fin was afraid of helping the man, he just didn't trust that this wasn't some strange disease and he wanted no part of it. His run in with the possession had left the little man very cautious, and rightly so.

Raknesh barely noticed the small wound and concentrated his fire on the man chasing the woman.

'Try to find Prizzard and the others as quickly as you can to get under his protection.  I would feel much safer knowing you are safe.' he sent to Rocky for Halek.


'What's your status?' he sent to the others using the mindlink he had formed with them.
'We are fighting a few men in that strange and creepy underground part of this damned building...'

Tanzy shrugged "hiding her body probably isn't going to change that fact. It still looks like we killed everyone." though she left the woman where she lay. "I'm going to do a once over and see if anyone is still alive downstairs. Witnesses to her destruction will probably be useful when the authorities come." she adds stepping gingerly over the severed head.

Bryon: Your attack takes them by surprise and they wince and shout at the acid but it does not stop them from retaliating. One of them immediately hurls a ball of fire your way while the other throws a knife though it bounces harmlessly off the wall behind you. ooc: Go ahead and roll a reflex save for half damage please. If you fail it is 20 damage.

Stefan/Fin: The man answers by falling to his knees, more blood gurgling from his lips. Kill me before I turn! I will spread this plague like madness if- he suddenly gasps and his eyes cloud over. His head turns stiffly and he starts gnashing his teeth. It would seem whatever he has feared would happen has indeed begun. He starts to stand, looking at you both hungrily...In the meantime you hear Raknesh's message about his own battle going on, requesting to know where everyone is.

Raknesh: Rocky sends an affirmative that he will make for Prizzard quickly. You hit the man following the woman with most of your attacks and though they are not mortal wounds he feels the pain of them and is looking quite weakened. He turns to shout at you as he continues his pursuit. You fool! Don't you realize what your'e doing?! She'll kill us all! he snarls. He ignores you as best he can as he finishes heading for the door. Meanwhile Raina looks startled by his words as she hurls another ball of her violet energy at the group. Follow them! she grunts. ooc: you can choose to follow or not, you also get an attack of opportunity against him as he runs past your area if you so desire.

Prizzard/Tanzy: Tanzy, you search her body and find quite a bit of gold, a few scrolls in writing you don't understand and a talisman around her stump of a neck made of what appears to be a small square of glass outlined in gems. Meanwhile searching for survivors yields but one survivor and he's barely hanging on. Should you use another healing potion though he will stabilize. As you are bending over the dying man a woman enters the inn, crossbow drawn and looking horrified. What madness is this?! What have you done?! she demands. Behind her are five men, equally armed. Your guess is the authorities have arrived. Prizzard, if you followed her downstairs you would see all of this too. ooc: Tanzy, what level is your healing potion so that Prizzard can properly roll his healed hit points? Thanks! Sorry, too busy to look it up in your inventory myself ;D

Prizzard decided to follow, with his scythe as a cane, its Deathwatch ability quickly telling him if anyone is alive, dead, or weak. Expecting trouble, he doesn't react too much once the woman enters. "The killer is upstairs with our friend. You'll find that our weapons do not match the wounds and that this woman is giving a healing potion to a survivor.. I advise against touching the black sword up there, it is powerful and evil." He allows the fresh amputation to be clearly visible, even gesturing as if to point once before noticing and leaving it limp. He has left his hood down since the fight and keeps his tone flat.

Tanzy does produce another healing potion glad that her shopping trip had been good for something. Ignoring the newcomers she pulls out the stopper on the little bottle and swiftly dumps it's contents down the mans throat. Turning to the authorities she held her breath waiting to see how they responded to Prizzard's reasoning.

Your own magical response is luckily effective and the pair hiss in pain and try to flatten themselves against the wall. In answer to your attack, one of the guards scowls at you and raises a hand. You can feel the spell trying to ensnare you...ooc: Ok, so only 10 damage for that fire attack from last round then. Also, please roll a will save. If you get 15 or higher you are fine, otherwise you find yourself paralyzed....

Tanzy/Prizzard: The woman listens to Prizzard's explanation with a frown and then glances down at the man Tanzy has healed. He sits up shakily, looking frightened. She demands an explanation from him and he quickly recounts being attacked by a single woman, exonerating you two in the process. The woman eases up a bit but she gives Prizzard a long look, still suspicious of something... Do either of you happen to know who this woman was and what she wanted? And you sir, I would appreciate a good look at your face if you don't mind. I like to know who is staying in my town.

He faces her fully, already speaking as he turns "We can't stay, a dark goddess is attempting to return to power. The woman upstairs worked for one of the goddesses partners calling himself Lord Death. We are a threat, so she was sent to kill us, and nearly succeeded. It probably doesn't help that we captured the Lord.. We apologize for the scene, we were expecting an ambush. Also, your presence prevents us from having to contact the local authorities. As the influence of the goddess spreads, cities are invaded by undead and massacred. We usually manage to keep ahead of her influence, but its not far behind. Evacuate the city. And please, point me to a smith, I'll need to purchase a different weapon." No real point in bluffing, withholding, or fluffing the info. He'll recall his weapon after the first sentence and try to speak more naturally, trying to omit pain and avoid condescension, and oddly lacking any note of panic or urgency. Really hoping that even if he's recognized, the story and cooperation, and perhaps a tad of pity and gratitude will avoid conflict.

As he is fighting, Raknesh can 'hear' Byron's call for help.
He quickly send a thought to Stefan and Fin.
'Byron is in trouble. She is figthing a group of foes, with at least one spellcaster.

"The sooner we move on the safer your city will be," Tanzy added watching the newcomers closely. She hoped they didn't make a fuss as they were in no condition to resist.

"We are near a bunch of cells, with crazy people, and one of them may be about to attack us."  Stefan sends to Raknesh in reply, while he waits to back up Fin's move.

Fin takes a safe step back from the creature and throws his sword at it hitting it.

'Damnit...' cursed Raknesh.

'Try to get rid of them as quickly as possible...' he send to the two of them.

Fin/Stefan: ooc: Actually though they are a bit undead they aren't fully so and therefore crits are allowed :D

Fin's sword goes straight into the man's stomach and though he doesn't react much in regard to pain you can see he is weakened by it, stumbling slightly. From there he begins to charge Fin, blood dripping from his mouth and wounds, his eyes crazed and yet somewhat glazed over too. He is just like the dwarf was. He runs forward and successfully grabs you, attempting to grapple, already trying to bite at you with his bloody mouth...ooc: He has improved grapple so no attack of opportunity unfortunately. Go ahead and oppose his grapple check though. Just for time's sake he has a DC of 18 in case Stefan wants to step in and help.

Raknesh: The man is shocked that you are so fast and jolts in surprise though his eyes follow the still fleeing woman. She is infected! She will spread her plague everywhere if she gets out! We were trying to cure her! Quick, stop her before it's too late! he points desperately.

Bryon: Your attack is enough to send them back a ways for cover and thus far you manage to avoid capture. They start to step back towards a door which one of them opens so they can obtain better protection in the narrow hallway, no doubt hoping to poking out in order to avoid your blasts. In the meantime, the spell caster hurls a ball of flame toward you. ooc; Reflex please. Note, you can run back the way you came if need be. They will follow you of course but there is enough space between you now that you may be able to avoid them if you are fast enough.

Prizzard/Tanzy: The woman listens with a frown, exchanging uncertain glances with her men. I have heard the reports from the other cities. I do believe that something dark is afoot here and I will look into evacuating. That doesn't remove all suspicion from you though sir. Judging by your description and the research I've done on you, you are a very wanted man. Do you not find it odd that you end up at an inn full of victims considering your own history of leaving behind bodies? This man may vouch for your innocence here, but the coincidence disturbs me nonetheless. Can you account for yourself and your past?

Stefan turns a quick circle meowing with an odd cadence before finishing looking behind the attacking man.  If Fin can see through his struggles, a large lion appears about 15 feet behind the man attacking him and immediately moves towards the two struggling men, charging and pouncing on the back of the possessed individual attacking Fin roaring in challenge.

lose a call lightning to cast summon nature's ally 3, summoning a lion 15 feet down the hall from the possessed guy.  lion charges and pounces on the guy, allowing for a full attack.  21 to hit with first claw for 8 normal damage and 3 cold damage, 16 to hit with second claw for 9 normal damage and 3 cold damage, 22 to hit with his bite for 11  normal damage and 4 cold damage, and if the bite hits it immediately gets to make a grapple check with no AoO.  grapple check of 33, and if the thing can't beat that, the lion rakes it with a 23 to hit for 8 normal damage and 5 cold damage.

By the end of his explanation he has put away the weapon, turned a chair the right way, and sat down.

Bryon relayed her local, "Corridor, east wing, three hallways down. Retreating."

Bryon retreated, but if they follow she will turn and fight.

Tandy kept quiet while Prizzard accounted for his past and relocated herself to the bar to finish someone's abandoned drink. She was pretty sure if needed they could take the woman and her men. Worse case scenario Prizzard is arrested and she breaks him out later. Breaking people out of prison was her specialty.

As the obviously sickened man grabs ahold of Fin, he is briefly surprised by the mans strength and then the lion appearing behind the "man". Quickly Fin Decides upon a course of action and instead of fighting the mans grip, he instead tries to use it to his advantage. Fin kicks out both legs behind himself when he sees the lion attack, hoping the move will pull the man prone with a lion on top of him.

Your arrows hit and she looks stunned and frightened, struggling to run all the faster. You, however are the quicker of the two and you will catch up with her in moments, especially since she has no weapons or way to attack. Meanwhile the man follows behind, trying to answer your questions as he runs. This place really is a hospital. But there has been a plague of late, fortunately still in its infancy. To avoid panic we've been keeping the victims secret, especially since some of our attempts at cures have been...unconventional. We thought we had made some headway but the treatments were experimental and they seem to have caused something far worse than the plague. We were trying to treat this woman with the newest version before she spread her hybrid sickness to the rest of them. he pants.

Fin/Stefan: As fin starts to go down he is able to kick the man's legs out, leaving him more vulnerable to the lion's attack. The lion does quite a job on him, and he is severely weakened. However, in the process he bleeds heavily on the halfling and to your horror and disgust you see his blood is brownish and feels unnaturally warm. There is something off about this man and you don't like it one bit. Though he is severely wounded he is still alive and doesn't react to the pain quite like you would expect. Instead he turns and starts snapping his jaw savagely at the lion, catching a paw and biting it. It is not the most effective attack of course, but there is something terrifyingly animalistic about his response and the lion recoils in pain and surprise. ooc: Fin, you should be able to squirm out from under him if you like.

Prizzard/Tanzy: The woman listens in scrutinizing silence and then nods for one of her men to go upstairs and fetch Loden. They return a minute later, the captain limping weakly but looking stable enough. He quickly confirms Prizzard's story and produces his credentials to lend credibility to his own statements. She mulls this over uncertainly. Your story rings well enough. I always doubted a child could do the things they claimed, however I would be in grave trouble if I let you go so easily. A trial, fair and unbiased would clear your name sir. You would no longer need look over your shoulder and I would not be punished for letting you go. You can tell by her face that she means not to give you a choice in the matter.

Bryon: As you retreat they thankfully let you, perhaps feeling just as challenged by you as you currently feel. As you make your way through the corridors though you see rows of locked doors with small rectangular windows near the top where people can look in and out. There are dozens of prisoners, many seem not to be very aware of their surroundings and don't notice you but one man bangs on his door, looking out desperately. Please good woman! Let me out! Before they experiment on me further!!

Bryon stopped at the man's pleas. This place was not a place she would want to be if lucid. She nodded, "Stand back from the door." She focused her power on the door, intending on blowing it off its hinges.

Raknesh continued his attacks on the woman, a bit surprised by just how resilient she seemed.  He wondered if it was linked to her 'infection'.

"Locating and exhuming the dead would take time we do not have, too few clerics can commune directly with the gods, as are psions strong enough to break into a mind well enough to be reliable. For a crime so old and grevious a simple trial wouldn't sway the kingdoms. Could I instead pay for either of these higher authorities? That aside, there is much to be taken care if here: proper disposal of the body so that she cannot be revived, a replacement weapon as an attack could come at any time, and the arrival of the rest of our band, hopefully soon."

If she insists on a trial I'll mention the time it takes to prepare and that in the mean time there is much to be cleaned up here. That also failing, I'll go along.

Tanzy wanted to protest the idea of a trial but kept her peace and let Prizzard continue his negotiations.

Bryon: The door crumples easily and the relieved man rushes out. He will start to flee the building if you do not deter him, thanking you profusely. ooc: I believe that Raknesh has just warned you of the plague these people may be carrying, though I want to confirm this is accurate, so if that is the case you may react accordingly. You didn't get the info until after you blasted the door though.

Tanzy/Prizzard: I understand your hesitations but as I've said, I cannot let you go without some sort of proof. I will start to gather what evidences I have. If you cooperate with my men and answer our questions it will be that much faster for you. Your friends will be informed of where you are, this woman can always stay behind and tell them she adds with a nod to Tanzy. In the meantime the hospital will send someone for the bodies. They insist on cleansing them before burial, just in case of plague you see. she shudders slightly, indicating it has been a real threat. I appreciate your cooperation in all this. I will see if I can get you free as soon as possible. Perhaps my superiors will allow Loden here to keep claim on you, considering his status and faith in you. In the meantime though, I'm afraid it is to jail for now. I will see to it you are treated well. she assures you.

Raknesh: By now you have caught up to the woman and though it is not lethal, your attacks have slowed her considerably. The man has started to lag behind, giving you a few seconds alone with the woman who stops and raises her arms in surrender, looking terrified. Please don't let them take me! I'm not like the others! I'm fine I tell you! They'll kill me if they put that needle in me, there's nothing for them to cure! she looks terrified, panicked and starts to sob in fear. ooc: I am correct that your previous post was intended for all parties in the hospital right? So they all know about the plague, etc?

Prizzard removes his glove and bag of holding, tossing them to Tanzy. "Sonnenixxus can help you find me if needed. I'll try to rest." With that he followed..

"Once they have studied the woman, bag her. She will be a primary target for resurrection by her henchmen. Master knows the deputies will resist, but the honest concern of her ressurection may be scary enough to convince them."

Bryon rolled her eyes. "Jeeze..."

She did the only thing she could, she blasted the inmate, but tried not to kill him.

"Take care," Tanzy watched as Prizzard was escorted out and then headed upstairs. She didn't intend to let anyone examine the body, or object to her taking it. The sooner the decapitated woman was in the bag the better, she wasn't about to risk her resurrection. Without Prizzard's help she and Loden would be a poor match against her spells.

"We should consider re-locating as soon as possible," she suggested to Loden realizing Jett needed to be moved as well.

"Well I don't know whom to believe" said Raknesh, not firing but still on his guard.
"I won't let anyone kill anyone but until things are clearer, I will ask you to stop running... otherwise I will have to knock you out..."

Bryon: The man looks shocked at your rescuing him one second and then attacking him the next. Your blast takes a lot out of him but he's still conscious thus far and looking to run if at all possible. One more blast should do it but in the meantime he is trying to slip by. Thus far he doesn't seem a threat thankfully.

Prizzard: You follow the woman to the jail, which is about five blocks down and not a bad walk. As the woman walks she breaks into conversation. I appreciate your cooperation. In exchange I will do my utmost to help you. I am Carra by the way. she nods a polite greeting. Is there anything you need once we get to the prison? You look like you've been through a lot. she eyes your wounds hesitantly.

Tanzy: Loden nods at the suggestion. Indeed. If that woman found us so easily she can't have been alone. I don't like this business with Prizzard either. I know his history well and they are not going to find a solution to his case anytime soon. It could take weeks for a trial to even be organized. I say once the others have returned we get him out and quit this town as soon as possible. We'll likely have bounty hunters after us but I don't see what choice we have. he sighs.

Raknesh: The woman eyes the other man in terror but nods shakily and stays put, though she walks toward you as though hoping to be shielded from the other man. Has he told you what they've been doing? she demands, poking her head out from behind you accusingly. The experiments? I don't belong here! I never had the plague, just a headache! I was put here anyway and they wouldn't let me leave. Didn't believe me, or maybe they just wanted another body to play with she glares furiously. The man responds angrily. You were roomed with the other victims! You have to have contracted it by now. Just because you're symptom-less doesn't mean you are clean! She ignores the comment and turns to you. They've been taking in plague bodies. Experimenting, trying to find a cure and using the dead as subjects. What they made was far worse.

Jeeze! Most non combatants have a handful of HP, this guy took 28? Crap this is a dangerous world.

Alison growled in frustration. She used a cone, to be sure she hit him, but with subdual damage only.

"The wounds will heal as well as they can with rest, so what I must emphasize most is haste in preparing the trial.. And a merchant who deals in magic items; I'll need to sell a few items to raise funds for magic used in the trial."

"Sonnenixxus suggested we stay here." Tanzy admitted. "Honestly I think we are probably sitting ducks anywhere we go. As for bounty hunters, they are a joke." Tanzy flashed a grin hinting that she'd dealt with her own fair share of them. "They'll be inconvenient but nothing compared to what we've been through already. Prizzard can rest up, ironically he's may be safer in prison than we are out here."

Bryon: ooc: Yeah, well he's not exactly your typical npc. Something is definitely different with the folks in this hospital ;)

He barely makes it past you as you blast him and this time he falls down unconscious but he will be fine when he awakens. Should you decide to join Raknesh it will take you only a minute or so to reach him.

Prizzard: I will look into selling your items for you on the morrow but purchases will have to wait until the council approves. I will keep your money safe though, and if you successfully are released I can vouch for several good vendors for you. In the meantime are you hungry? I will see to it you are fed when we arrive. she offers, looking a bit sheepish she can't do more. You have a feeling her hands are somewhat tied in the matter. Once you get to the prison you see it is small and mostly empty save for a few ruffians who eye you warily. You are deposited into a barred cell and given a hot meal and an extra pillow. Carra plainly regrets having to keep you here considering how cooperative you've been and guilt is written on her pretty face.

Tanzy: Loden listens in surprise. Stay here? Are you sure that is wise? The woman found us with ease, would she not have alerted others? he says this aloud, hoping to communicate his doubts to Sonnenixxus. At this point I am also concerned about the others. They should have been back by now and we will need their help if things go awry. Just then the inn door opens and you hear a gasp of horror behind you. You turn to see Halek and Rocky, the boy holding what looks to be an arm wrapped in cloth. He's staring at the scene in horror.

She checked the man's pulse. It was so odd, normal people should have dropped at her first blast. "People there is something really odd here. It took me two blasts to drop a patient. The first should have easily knocked him out. It took two. I think there is more here than meets the eye."

She headed toward Raknesh.

He frowned slightly on the way in at the thought of being without all of the protective items. "I will wait, then. Being anymore defenseless than I already am would be a great danger if I were attacked here. Thank you, but this ring supplies all of my sustenance each day by magic." Noting the guilt on her face at the last moment, he pauses until she is almost through the door before speaking up: "You're only doing your job."

"Well that's what I was thinking but honestly I'm not sure where we can take Jett that would be safe. And we would need a wagon to move him. We'll want to go look for the others if they don't get back soon. Who knows, maybe they ran into the same sort of trouble we did." Tanzy paused seeing Halek enter the room. She was relieved to see him, hoping the others weren't far behind.

Quickly she brought the boy up to speed on the events of the day including Prizzard's arrest. "Why don't we go to a different room until the others join us," she added hoping to distract him from the blood spattered walls.

"Well no-one is going to experiment on anyone until we have more information." said Raknesh in a no-nonsense tone.
"I'm here with a team of very talented people and as soon as we can gather, I'm certain with can find a solution. Which brings another question: what are the very ill and very dangerous looking dwarf cannibal my friend met here?"

Stefan/Fin: ooc: It seems as though Fin is busy at the moment so go ahead and keep attacking Stefan, and I'll just roll for Fin until he's able to return. At the moment he does squirm away so you no longer have to worry about him the next round. So go ahead and roll your next attack as you like Stefan :)

Raknesh/Bryon: As you speak Bryon comes trotting around the corner looking wounded but upright enough. Bryon, you see Raknesh with a man and a woman, seemingly questioning them. The man grimaces. That was...unfortunate. I was told that he contracted the disease and when we tried to cure him he became like the rest. A common tale in this place he shakes his head. The cure makes them mindless flesh eating things. Unfortunately now we are trying to cure the cure so to speak The woman's eyes flash in anger at this. You actually believe that don't you! she scoffs. I remember the dwarf. He was a good man, wanted to help us! You really think he just happened to contract the disease when hew as figuring out how to save us? Your master WANTS us to turn! His 'cure' was no accident!

Prizzard: Carra looks grateful for your understanding and after searching to be sure there's nothing you can use to escape, she leaves you with the jailer in order to seek out the legal beginnings necessary for your trial. Meanwhile you hear a drunk man across the room start to mutter an off tune song to himself.

Tanzy: Loden listens to the creature with a slow nod, contemplating his words. Halek, however looks panicked at the thought of Rallia having been there, dismembered and suffocated or not. He's distracted though, when Tanzy mentions the others. I'm honestly worried about them. There's something bad afoot at that hospital. Cannibalism for one...you may want to get down there. Or perhaps I should go back too... he drops the purloined arm carefully on the bed.

Bryon shook her head as she caught the last of what was said, "The man I met seemed lucid, but extremely tough. He did not try to eat me, in either sense."

He just slumps against the wall, eyes closed, but forcing a set burst of emotions for Sonnenixxus.

The more the man tried to explain and justify himself, the less trustworthy he looked.

"If I had found a 'cure' like yours, I would have destroyed it seconds later" he commented.
"Now, I don't like the fact that you mentioned 'like the rest', so how many more people have you CURSED with your cure? And tell me more about that master of yours. Did he came here recently?"

Stefan the cat arches his back and lets out a hissing growl of displeasure before the lion once again attacks the thing that had hurt it.  the front claws and teeth flash towards it, but the lion's hesitance after the last attack causes the deadly jaws to miss, the lions claws once more slashing into it, and the cold aura of the lion causing the slices to ice over as they form.

Been more then a week and no Fin, So I am going to at least post my action.  I hold and soliloquy with a kitty hiss and growl.  The lion full attacks with a 26 on its first claw doing 8 normal damage and 3 cold damage, a 19 with its second claw for 8 normal damage and 6 cold damage and its pathetic bite of 7 which I rather doubt connects

Bryon/Raknesh: The man looks irritated at the accusations and your mistrust of him. He defends himself passionately. I would never have knowingly been involved in anything wrong woman! he snaps at the prisoner. None of us would! We are trying to help you! Or don't you remember where you were before the master took you in and tried to help you? She rounds on him. I was never supposed to be here! None of us were! You should have left us be! she turns to you then, eyes flashing with anger. There are dozens of us, and most of us started the same. We died of plague, some of us months ago! Then the head doctor here decided he would try to put a stop to it. Tamon is his name. He had the bodies sent here for investigation. His experiments for a cure took an amazing turn, regeneration! I was dead not a fortnight ago! But some of us started to turn as I'm sure you've seen by now, and unfortunately the plague strain twisted into this monstrous virus you have already witnessed. If you are bitten there is a good chance of the poison spreading to the living. It's already happened to a few of the workers. This whole place should be burned to the ground!

Stefan: ooc; You called it! Two hits and a miss :)
The man grunts in pain and retaliates by striking the beast square between the eyes with surprising force. Though the lion does not die from the blow, he is clearly stunned and you are amazed at the strength of the strange man.

Tanzy/Prizzard: Halek listens to Sonnenixxus with wide eyes. Well should not at least one of us investigate? We could stop by on our way to the hospital? I think it may be necessary to free him if things get too out of hand... the boy frowns worriedly.

"I don't think you need to go back to the hospital," Tanzy opened Prizzard's bag and put the arm inside. "And I don't know if it's wise to leave Jett here unguarded. We barley kept him safe last time and we had Prizzard with us." Tanzy paused as she thought over their options. "I can go give the hospital a once over if you think there's trouble."

The amount of information Raknesh was receiving through the various mental links had him a bit dizzy.

He sent Rocky's report (the fight and Prizzard's wound) to the others and asked Rocky to explain their situation to the other team.

He also sent a warning to Stefan and Fin "Avoid contact with blood or any fluid coming from the infected! " doing so, missed a key element of his current situation.

"I'm sorry !?" he said, interrupting the exchange.
"Did you said you were dead?

I thought only magic - very rare and very expensive one- could accomplish such a miracle."

Stefan sends a message back to Raknesh, "I have, and am fighting using a rpoxy, but I don't know how much Fin may have on him."  He then meowls angrily, encouraging the larger feline to new ferocity as it moves back in to trying to destroy its annoying mad prey.

Bryon waited while her comrade was talking to the others.

Prizzard: As you lay in your cell, still thinking on the drunk man's words, there is several minutes of silence after which you start to hear a cracking sound from his general direction. It is sporadic at first and you think little of it but as it picks up in frequency it starts to get distracting. After a few moments more another prisoner snaps at the drunk to stop and then lets out a horrified curse. What are you doing!? Are you mad!? he stammers. Should you look you see the drunkard has been bending his fingers back, twisting and pulling them until every digit is broken, bent at unnatural angles as he begins to start on his toes, rocking back and forth. He mutters repetitively, it always starts with the weakest, it always starts with the weakes, it always starts with the weakest

Tanzy: Halek frowns at the options, his grave face far too mature for his young age. Why don't you check the hospital, I will stay here with Jett and Loden helps Prizzard if need be? If you're up to it? he looks at the man who is still recovering from his wounds. Loden proudly nods, not liking his abilities being called into question. Halek waits to see if his plan is acceptable.

Stefan: The Lion and the man fight bitterly but fortunately your proxy manages to finish him enough that he falls down limply, though there is blood everywhere and pooling over the ground fast. You'll have to take care to pass the area without getting it on you...ooc: Roll a general dexterity check to see if you can avoid stepping in it.

Raknesh/Bryon: Yes, I died she admits soberly. And yes, there is a mixture of magic along with science it seems. For whatever reason though, Tamon's experiment seems to have worked on me. I've not shown any sign of infection this entire time, while my comrades have been turning left and right. I know if they try that cure on me when it is not needed, it will kill me a second time! Or worse! Please don't let them! she pleads.

Sounding more annoyed than alarmed: "He's posessed, ignore it. Just keep away from him.."

Sonnenixxus listens quietly

Allowing the lion to disappear back to the ether it was formed from, The cat looks around haughtily at the mess, finding the best path to avoid the blood so it doesn't touch the sensitive pads on his paws and making his way to the other side in his chosen path, jumping over whatever he may need to to get there.  The one over here is taken care of, but I'm not sure how badly off Fin has become now.

a 16 for my general dex check.  and a reminder that as a cat, if my check involves any of the following stuff I get the bonus listed: Cats have a +4 racial bonus on Climb, Hide, and Move Silently checks and a +8 racial bonus on Jump checks. Cats have a +8 racial bonus on Balance checks. They use their Dexterity modifier instead of their Strength modifier for Climb and Jump checks

Bryon was very confused at this point. She just stood and listened.

"Sounds good," Tanzy agreed with Halek's idea. "I'll take Railla's body with me until we can properly dispose of her. You two keep a close eye on Jett and lets just hope Prizzard can handle himself."

Tanzy will head to the hospital.

Prizzard: The other prisoner looks shocked at your words. W-what do you mean possessed?! he gasps. By what? What do we do! Can't you make him stop?! he looks horrified as the other man continues his self destruction. Then something the possessed man says catches your ear. In a whisper, so quiet you can barely hear it you catch, she's coming...

Stefan/Fin: Stefan manages to pick his way through delicately without contamination but Fin is already somewhat splattered. Thus far he seems fine though, albeit nervous looking upon hearing Raknesh's warning and he tries to wipe it off as best as possible. Meanwhile you find yourselves at fork in the hallway. Both directions are quiet for the moment. It will be difficult to decide which one leads to Raknesh and the others, if that is even your goal. ooc: Roll listen and decide which way you want to go :)

Continuing to step daintily the ears of the cat perk up and twitch at the faint noises coming from their surroundings, trying to hear something of interest or the sound of running water to wash Fin off.  The cat looks back at Fin and cocks its head, letting out a short  "Meow?"

Annoyed voice "When is she not coming? Calls herself a goddess and still moves slower than a mortal.. dont worry, I'll try to call a cleric." I'll take a piece of debris in the cell, if there are and, cast Light on it, then hold it outside between the bars and cast Launch Item,  sending the bright bit high into the air, hopefully drawing some attention to the jail. If there is no debris, I'll use a coin. I'll be calm and seem bored the whole time.

"As I said, I have skilled friends who could help settle things. So I suggest we gather and get to the bottom of things.  I really want to meet the man responsible for all this mess..."

"Do you have a map of this place? I'm afraid some of them are a bit lost..."

Should Prizzard take a good look around him, he could spot a tiny crystal like spider moving toward him and making attempt at getting inside one of his pockets.

Stefan/Fin: ooc: It looks like Fin hasn't even logged in for well over a month so I'll npc him for now though I hate doing so long term so if he doesn't return by the time this is all over I will tuck him away someplace and then if he comes back it will be easy to reinstate him. I know he had a lot of real life business if I recall so hopefully it's just that.

Stefan- You recall the room of tubs you came from is behind you and Fin decides he will go and wash the blood off quickly. He returns damp and dripping but at least clean for the most part. Meanwhile your hearing is able to make out the sounds of muffled voices from the corridor on the left. Should you follow them you will find a room with a closed door. The voices are coming from within but strangely you cannot make out what they are saying even at this close range, odd considering your cat senses. A dim light leaks out from the bottom of the door. Should you decide to enter you will find the room full of metal tables, dozens of them. On top of each one lies a lifeless corpse, eyes open and glazed over, bodies pale and stiff. No one else is in the room.

Raknesh/Bryon: I would like nothing better! We need to stop that madman before he unleashes an even bigger plague in his stupidity! The other man grudgingly nods, going along though whether because he is properly apologetic or merely submitting is uncertain. Meanwhile Halek gets your message and affirms he's on his way. Tanzy is already headed toward you and he will catch up to her. Raina also confirms she will be joining you soon and when she arrives a few minutes later she asks to be brought up to speed, listening with a frown of disapproval. Toman's office is on the top floor, he is usually there or so I've heard the woman offers helpfully.

Tanzy: As you hurry to the hospital a ragged looking Halek catches up to you. It's clear he's run the whole way. They need our help! I left Loden with Jett. I hope Prizzard will be alright! he pants.

Prizzard: The other prisoner watches you hopefully, glancing back at the possessed man in horror, trying to stay as far away from him as possible. Meanwhile you see Rocky moving toward you, attempting to get inside your pocket. As this happens the man begins to cough and wheeze, dry heaving and wretching as he shudders on the floor. S-something is coming out of him!!! the prisoner screams. Help! We need help!!!! he starts shaking the bars. A moment later a guard barges in looking irritated. Quiet you! What's the trouble!? And what was that bloody light I saw? he looks at Prizzard with suspicion, seemingly unaware of the possessed man for the moment.

Stefan does indeed follow the voices, even into the room, looking cautiously about and using all the grace his feline form allows to try and remain unseen as he looks for the source of the voices.  His tail disturbs some of the metal tools, making a slight noise and causing the cat to freeze and wait to see what happens.

'I hope we won't get in trouble with the people you met, but the obviously have some fire power, so keep ready in case they decide we are to troublesome...'

Setting a calm and serious face, he speaks as though giving a casual order with no aggression. "The evacuation I mentioned to your captain needs to happen sooner than expected, and this man is being destroyed by a possessing force and should be put out of his misery. We don't have time to waste."

Stefan: As you look around you cannot find the source of the voices, in fact the room is empty other than the bodies and there are no other doors leading anywhere. You feel your tail get bushy with the sense of something amiss though you see nothing out of place. Suddenly, every single corpse jerks to a sitting position and you soon realize where the whispers were coming from. Staring glassily at nothing, only the mouths of the bodies move, all repeating the same thing at once, over and over. She's coming. She's coming. She's coming. She's coming.

Raknesh/Bryon: The man looks at you uncertainly but seems to understand things have gotten out of hand and agrees. The woman, who's name is Naria, also leads the way, looking relieved to be relatively safe now. As you head towards the entrance you hear screams coming from hallways here and there. Naria explains. The transition is painful. Probably more 'cured' victims turning. Let us hope they are still imprisoned. The man nods soberly. They are. We've lost too many men to be reckless now. You do run across a few confused looking guards but the man, Igan is his name, vouches for you. As you near the entrance one man rushes up to Igan. Sir, sir! Things are getting out of hand! Something else is happening! The bodies are...moving. BEFORE we treat them!

Tanzy: Next round you will make it to the hospital and you can react accordingly.

Prizzard: I-Is this some kind of trick? the guard demands half heartedly looking quite disturbed at what he is seeing. No you idiot! Can't you see what he's done to himself!? At least get HIM out of here! he gestures to the still vomiting man. A black, oily substance is pooling on the floor. W-what is that!? Is it the plague!? he stammers. Well if it is, all the better to get him out wouldn't ya say!? the other prisoner snaps. The guard covers his mouth and nose, looking terrified. He starts to run but his conscience gets the better of him and he moves to the cells, keys in hand. He starts with the prisoner in the cell next to you, who is adjoining the possessed man. As he fumbles with the keys, panicked suddenly the vomiting prostrate form leaps up with inhuman speed and to your surprise jams his hand through the bars and into the guard's stomach as he rips out his insides messily, staring glassily outward as black fluid drips down his chin and mouth. The guard gurgles, choking on blood as he falls limply to the ground, dropping the keys. You may just be able to reach them though but the other prisoner has the same idea, reaching through the bars at the same time. ooc; roll reflex to see who gets them first.

Dangerous place to move toward... Prizzard will cast Storm Touch and double-tap the locking bar on his cell, but fails and has to cast a second time.

There wasn't a set of emotions for lawbreaking, as that was daily life, but Prizzard expressed strong concern and determination to Sonnenixxus, then guilt.. that might get the message across. DM roll?

Bryon looked at the others, "As horrible as this might sound, we may need to destroy this entire building and all the people in it. If this is spreading, we may have no choice. I suggest fire."

Tanzy follows Halek to the hospital "I wish you wouldn't have had to come back," she apologized. Pulling a ring from her pocket she pressed it into his hand. "I just picked this up in the market. If the man I... acquired it from was truthful it should give you invisibility. Just in case we run into trouble.

The fur all over the cat stands on end as he reaches out through Rocky to communicate with Raknesh once more.  Hey, I think we are in trouble hear, all these corpses are talking about how she is coming...

Rakesh blinked then added

"I fear you are right, Bryon.  I just got information about your morgue: all corpse just rose... And they are saying something :"she is coming"..."

He looked at Raina and the others with some worry.

"We better hurry"


'Halek, be VERY cautious: apparently they are dozens of undeads in the building now...'

Trough Rocky, who tried to get the keys... but stopped as Prizzard took a more brutal approach on the matter.
'Prizzard, it seems an army of undead is on the rise... and she is coming...'

Rocky could easily relay what was happening with the possessed man here.

And the little electric taps aren't brutal.. but they keep me out of the reach of the possessed man.

Prizzard: You are able to cut through the lock, which fortunately is poorly made. Meanwhile the other prisoner grabs the keys himself and within seconds has burst from his prison, rushing out frantically. The possessed man, blank faced, rummages through the gutted guard's belt, taking his key and starting to put it in the lock. Are you afraid of me Prizzard? he asks with the hint of a smirk. Meanwhile you sense distress from your familiar. The inn is being surrounded by undead.

Stefan: The voices continue as the corpses drone endlessly, dead unblinking eyes wide as their jaws creak up and down stiffly. Meanwhile the corridor behind you echoes with a scream. A woman. Should you investigate you will find a frantic woman running down the hallway. She sees Fin and you, albeit in cat form, and points behind her. I was just here to visit my sister and then all the healers started bustlin about like a hornets nest that had been kicked in! I went to look at the commotion and saw a man attack another man! Bit his ear right off his face! I need to get my sister out! she sobs.

Raknesh/Bryon/Tanzy: Halek thanks Tanzy, obediently taking the ring. By now you've reached the others who await you at the entrance.
Tanzy, you come in to hear Raina state,
You want to burn the place down? I see. What of the innocents? Or are there any? she turns to the woman with an arched eyebrow. There are some. A few actual patients who have nothing to do with the plague. The majority of us though are bound for death one way or another already though considering we were dead once. As for this she is c oming? What is that about? It doesn't seem related to the plague that I know of she frowns.

Bryon nodded, "Alright give me the locations of the patients who are not infected. I will attempt to retrieve them."

"Afraid of a possessed commoner? You know that body is too fragile to fight me. I have business elsewhere." With that he reaches in to touch the key quickly, an attempt at deflection would get him shocked and I'll try again. After one touch the key should be melted into the lock and Prizzard will swiftly step away. (Full attack, 5' step)

"Rocky, the body is surrounded, can you request backup?"

"Good idea Byron" said Raknesh, before cursing.
"They are everywhere! Prizzar's place is surrounded too.  He will need back up...

And Fin and Stefan are still lost somewhere while we really need them."

'Fin, Stefan? Could you escape and get to Prizzard's help? I think your dragon form would work better outside than in this place. Get 'normal' people out if you meet some too' he send - and said aloud to allow the others to be in the loot.

"Unless you have others ideas?
If not, then let's go meet the one who caused all this mess..."

While the woman talks at Finn, after all why would she talk to the cat, he speaks quickly with Raknesh.  "Where is Prizzard?  I don't know how to get to him without that."

Bryon nodded, "When you are ready. I can take you and three others with me. I will be weakened for a moment. Being part fey, I can do this without restrictions."

"Yes let's get who we can out and torch the place," Tanzy agreed after being brought up to speed. "Point me in a direction and I can help get people out too," she offered.

ooc: Sorry if this is a bit rushed, I'm trying to squeeze it in before my client arrives. The way I understand it is Bryon and her group will free people, Finn/Stefan will try to make it to Prizzard upon receiving a location, and Raknesh and presumably Raina will go confront the mastermind of all of this. So here's a breakdown:

Raknesh/Raina will go upstairs and deal with Toman:

As you run up the stairwells you can hear pandemonium all around. Mostly shrieks of fear it seems, which you force yourself to ignore. As you reach the top you find the entire upper level is eerily silent, save for the sounds of a man sobbing down at the end of the upper level. Raina looks tense but follows if you choose to go. Should you investigate you will find a middle aged man sitting at a desk, head down and crying.


Bryon/Tanzy/Halek/ will clear prisoners and the guard and the woman will take another floor to clear them as well. All infected or suspicious are to be left to die correct?
Be sure to roll a search you two, so I see how many you are able to save as well as sense motive to see if you can determine if someone is lying to you about their symptoms.

Stefan: Ooc: I'm going to assume you can get your directions as Tanzy knew where they were taking Prizzard and she also knows where they left Jett and Loden so you will have two locations to choose from. The prison, or the inn. If for some crazy reason your teammates choose not to divulge this to you then I will go back and edit but for time's sake I will go on the assumption they want to help Prizzard and you can get your info. From the sounds of it, Prizzard wants you to go to the inn.

Prizzard: The man does indeed get shocked, though he seems to feel little pain from it. Instead he merely laughs. Oh there are more just like me waking up everywhere. One of us will pull your guts out for you before the night is through he cackles. As you leave you run into Carra herself, who has her sword bared. What is going on? I heard shouts! When you ask for a weapon she demands an explanation. You shouldn't be out of your cell, let alone asking me for weapons. But you seem an honest man. What happened? Meanwhile you feel Son. Things are not going well.

He keeps his hand away from her, catching himself against the wall if he must, which would set off another charge. The drunk is possessed, killed the guard and damaged the host. There are more in town already and trouble at the morgue." If he can spot a rapier in the office, he'll reach for the sheath if she seems to understand, which will likely blast it off and damage the blade before transferring the remaining charges. "There is no good way to open a door like this.."

Stefan the cat makes his way to Prizzards position, assuming he gets there unmolested.  When he arrives he will walk up to Prizzards and let out a questioning meow.

"Stop your crying, old man" began Raknesh
"Hell is at the door and we must know what you did... and hope we can find a way to reverse it."

Prizzard: You do indeed find a rapier in the pile of various presumably confiscated weapons. She blinks in surprise at the damage and looks at you shrewdly. I will send men to the morgue but if you are going to be out of your cell you are going to have me right by your side so I can return you there when this is over. Don't make trouble for me and I will even try to help you. Agreed?

Stefan: It takes some time to get across town, though fortunately the village is on the smaller side. You are closing in on his position but you are still a minute or two away. As you near you see dozens of corpses milling around the inn, moaning terribly. The citizens of the village are running in terror and on the roof you see a familiar figure, trying to scramble away from his foes and looking extremely hurt. Loden.

Raknesh: The man looks up in mild surprise though he is unafraid. There is no reversing it. Don't you think I would have by now? As for how it was done...well that secret will go with me to my grave. I was only following orders. I never knew it would be like this. You must understand, they said I would be healing people! And when they took my Lora...well I no longer had a choice... his tears begin again.

Bryon: You are able to tell if someone is lying to you, or at least you feel certain of it anyway. Pitifully not one admits to being infected, all trying to save their own skins, frantic to get out. The screening process takes longer than you'd like and it is difficult to get through everyone. So far you've cleared two thirds of a floor on your own. Tanzy is hopefully having better luck...

At the mention on 'keeping the secret' Raknesh lost some of his composure and his blade materialize very close to the man's face.

"I do not care about your inner turmoil at the moment. Who gave you the orders and what were they?  Some of the people with me are very powerful and skilled. They might find a way to help, or at least to reduce the cost in lives.  So you better talk or you might get in that grave or yours sooner than you think..."


Rocky take the relative calm in the building as a good opportunity to let himself be known as he scramble out of the pocket, he sent his telepathic message.
'My master is telling help is on its way, but the situation is dire, there are hundreds of animated bodies on the loose...'

"[Insert Name] Inn, catch up when you can." speaking as he runs toward the door, and as soon as he's outside he shouts an arcane syllable and sprints toward the inn. (280' per round. How far is it away?) Because that could change my actions..

Bryon continued trying to weed out the infected from the non.

Tanzy moved through the hospital quickly, allowing those uninfected to leave while heartlessly locking others in rooms. It was an awful thing to be the decider of who got to leave and who had to stay and die.

Raknesh: In spite of his anguish, seeing your blade so close frightens him into words. S-she came to me a few months ago! I think her men called her Rallia? Coldest woman I've ever met. She gave me a black p-powder, told me to use it with my medicines, see what I could come up with. She took my wife! I had no choice! And besides, I was only practicing on the dead, I saw no harm in obeying, I had no idea it would create a new kind of plague like it has! I doubt Lora is even alive anymore. All of this...for nothing. he starts to sob again. Rallia, that was the name of the woman you fought several weeks back, and that Prizzard and Tanzy recently defeated. If she was involved then it leads back to Shaelis, the goddess herself.

Tanzy/Bryon: It is pitiful work, the infected begging and pleading at you to spare them. Their cries and screams overwhelm the halls, asking what you have planned for them and why won't you let them free? Others are clearly in the midst of their transformation and you are grateful the near rabid things are in their cells, a grim reminder of why you must go through with such violence. By now you have got everyone you are certain of out, and they flee the building in horror. Now all that is left is Raina and Raknesh somewhere upstairs and the infected.

Prizzard: ooc: The inn is about a mile off from the prison. Go ahead and give me stats of what you want to do when you get there or let me know if you change your tactic.

Bryon nodded, "I will fetch the others." Unless otherwise necessary, Bryon will use Flees The Scene to get the others out.

My range for this spell is 240'. I'd like to be at least half that distance from the enemies. 4 minutes may be enough time for Byron or somebody to show up >.> I can wait if that is the case. My attendant should be about 5-9 minutes behind due to medium armor. Or if it's light, closer to 2-4 minutes.

Stefan's eyes widen seeing the hurt man on the roof and immediately his form starts to expand and warp, his fur giving way to leathery red skin as he turns into a red dragon.  With an audible crack of wind filling his leathery wings he launches himself in the air and towards Loden.

ooc: For simplicity's sake I'll have you both arrive at close to the same time. Between Prizzard's spell and Stefan's dragon form it makes logical sense and I'm too busy to nitpick at the moment ;P

Prizzard/Stefan: Stefan, there are several undead crawling toward Loden by now but fortunately your change of form greatly closes the gap. He looks ecstatic to see you, already scrambling toward you. Meanwhile, below you can see that Prizzard has arrived as well and is calling lightning on the undead crawling onto the roof, striking the nearest corpse. Your keen eyes spot dozens inside and several more spilling into the street. Loden shouts over the groaning din, They took Jett! I don't know if he's still inside or if they carried him away but he's gone. I don't suppose I could get a ride?

Prizzard, by now the corpses on the street have noticed you and are ambling your direction though you still have some time before they get to you.

Bryon: Should you desire it you can track down Raknesh and Raina upstairs. If you do you'll find them interrogating a sobbing middle aged man...

"Why do you think I'm here?"  Stefan bellows before his head rears back, firey light eminating from his mouth just before a cone of flame blazes out to include as many of the undead near Loden while avoiding the man himself.  He swoops in towards the roof to get a hold of the fleeing man.

Once the uninfected are out Tanzy will park herself near the exit to insure no one gets out that shouldn't

Bryon found  Raknesh and Raina upstairs. "We need to be moving along. We've rounded up all the healthy people, so when your ready I will escort you out."

Calling down another bolt on any roof stragglers or the nearest enemy, but remaining in a fighting stance. About to really reap the benefits of these boots, I think. I treat all charges as though I'm readied against the charge: free attacks!

Raknesh cursed aloud this time at the mention of the name.

He sent the information to the others before asking others questions.

"You will come with us now, and tell Raina here all the things you did and what exactly is that 'dark power' you spoke off.  Pray that she can find a way to hinder the progression of your work..."

As they started to move, Byron arrived and he added
"Good work. We found dire clues about the source of all that mess... and maybe some hope to stop things... with a lot of luck..."

Stefan/Prizzard: Loden laughs and scrambles on Stefan's back, the stumbling undead fortunately are not the most agile and both the dragon and Prizzard's attacks hit true. The only problem is that the sheer number of them will make a prolonged fight unwise. By now some of them have noticed Prizzard and are running toward him clumsily, though their speed is still worrisome...ooc: Next round they will be within striking range if you stay where you are.

Both of you hear of Raknesh's discovery of the black powder the doctor has been using. Prizzard in particular recalls finding a similar substance on the warriors of Shaelis, that he traded to the necromancer a few weeks ago. Something tells you it is the same substance.

Raknesh/Bryon: The man nods, wiping his eyes. Yes. Yes, I will try to help you. I don't have much left, but... he opens a drawer and pulls out a small pouch of black powder. Don't touch it now, you must wear gloves. I'm still not sure of all that it does he shakes his head. Raina looks at it and turns pale. He's right. Be careful with that. Right now we must destroy this place. If there's any more of that about it cannot remain intact she frowns. By now the dead have started to rise in the hospital and the halls are quickly filling with walking corpses. The doctor recommends a back exit. ooc: So basically the hospital is full of undead, you'll want to tell me how you go about destroying it and also what your plan is afterward. The town is filling with undead too. Not a nice place to be.

Prizzard calls down another strike, targeting the nearest threat. The bolt is spindly and unfocused, but still very quick. As he hustles away: "Tell me all you can about what the powder does. I have some and may be able to make it useful."

I assume Rocky is relaying information for me as I'm not connected to the communication spell, so I'll be speaking out loud to him as though the others can hear me.

Bryon spoke up, "I can get us all out, I think, but I have no idea how to handle undead, sorry."

Raknesh didn't know how Bryon planned to get them out of here, but before that they needed to do something about the undeads.

"Do you have anything here that could explode or catch fire easily?"
He asked the man
"If you can get us out of here easily Bryon, we should lure as many undead together and burn this place."

Bryon nodded, "My power is like the Dimension Door spell, that that helps. I can alter my normal blast power to be based on fire, so if enough flammable objects are about I should be able to burn this place down."

Prizzard/Stefan:

Prizzard's lightning effectively gives him time to get a head start. Fortunately the dead are slow and if you keep enough of a pace you will outrun them for now. Meanwhile Loden clings to Stefan's back and from your high vantage point you can see the dozens of dead milling in from the edges of the village. ooc: I assume you guys head back to the hospital? Let me know :)

Bryon/Raknesh: Toman (the older man) nods at the question. Yes. I have a great deal of papers and books, loathe as I am to lose them. They would burn easily. And there are barrels of lamp oil in the supply rooms. If dispersed adequately I imagine they would do nicely. he gives you directions, looking more focused now that he seems to have a way to at least partially redeem his evil actions.

Tanzy: You wait with Halek, who still has that arm tied to his pack, eyes wide and face pale. He holds your hand tightly, looking nervous. I can tell he's awake. My father. He's waking up. You realize he must mean Jett and his little hand squeezes even tighter. Meanwhile several undead are wandering toward the entrance of the hospital, no doubt smelling living flesh.

Bryon shrugged, "What are we waiting for?"

Chances are I'll just hustle (Double Move, 80') each round all the way to the 'hospital'. But I must wonder if I'll be passing the guardwoman and curious what Stefan will do..

Stefan swooped low behind Prizzard, Loden clutching desperately on his back as he bellowed in sibilant noises of draconic before swooping away from the undead with Prizzard.  In his wake 3 bonfires were left behind Prizzard, fires that straightened into the form of 3 large fire elementals, that moved into the undead horde to add fuel into their fire.

summoned 3 large fire elementals, burning Trueseeing for Summon Nature's Ally VII.  Not bothering to do full stats and attacks unless you really want too, they are just burning through the horde, to slow it down.

Bryon/Raknesh: Raina nods, informing you that she'll keep an eye on Toman and help him gather up anything flammable while you get the oil. When you go after it you find it easily though you'll have to roll the barrels to move them. As you are rolling them down the hall you hear groans from down the hallway approaching. Several yards off you spot about five undead shambling toward you. Fortunately these particular ones are slow but you are sure there are more behind them.

Stefan/Prizzard: Stefan's elementals surge into the crowd of corpses, lighting them aflame and spreading quickly. Meanwhile when Prizzard passes Carra she rushes after you, though understandably not nearly as fast. What in blazes is going on?! she shouts, looking understandably terrified. She seems to be adept at fending off the occasional undead but she is close to panic seeing her city under such siege. What do we do!? she calls after you.

ooc: Let me know if you do anything between now and the hospital. Loden is very weak but still alive and conscious. He will explain that Jett's body was taken so he is officially on the loose. If/when you get to the hospital you will find it also swarming with undead though less so than the rest of the town at least.

He slows for a moment to not outpace her, calling down a strike if any undead seem close enough to become a problem. "We have to get to the hospital to regroup, so that may be your best direction to evacuate. Rocky, it might be best if you go with Sonnenixxus for recon." At that moment, Son lands on Prizzard back a little clumsily, but prepares to grab the psi crystal when/if it comes out. "Sonnenixxus will keep an eye on you and scout the best route back to us."

Bryon quickened her pace, hoping to outrun the undead shambling towards her.

Stefan will keep pace with the two runners, circling and spouting flame into the onrushing horde every chance he gets to help them reach the hospital ahead of the undead.  "To warn you, there are monsters like these there too, I do not know how many."

Raknesh kept his role of 'information dispatch' and send the necessary telepathic messages.  All this 'talk' was starting to put a strain on his mind, and he put a mental note to resume his training in that area.

As they spotted the undead, he motioned to the others to keep moving:
he would watch their back and slow their advance.

He sent a volley of his mind arrows to emphasize his words.

Prizzard/Stefan: The woman looks grateful to have a direction now and nods, turning to help a group of frightened villagers. We will head in that direction, thank you she calls, already moving to help the others.

Fortunately it does not take long for the both of you to arrive at the hospital and when you do you see Halek out front with Tanzy and Bryon's husband, fending off more undead. Fortunately there are fewer in this area. They seem intent on getting inside.

Raknesh/Bryon: Raknesh's arrows do the trick, luckily they do not seem particularly strong foes and he fells all but one of them, though you hear more on their way. You will have to move quickly. Should you re enter Toman's office, you find a nice pile of paper and splintered furniture, ready for a flame. Raina sees the barrels and her face lights up. Perfect! Start pouring one down the hall if you can. Just to help it spread. The other barrel should start here she points to the pile. They are heavy and will require a couple people on each one but it does not take long fortunately, especially since the rest of the undead soon are literally at your door. Raina turns to Bryon. Alright, how should we proceed? I believe we are as ready as the situation allows...

Bryon nodded with her head for them to all stand back. She did what looked like a dance, moving her arms in wide circles and twisting a bit here and there. As she ended a hoop of black energy began at her waist and rolled up to her outstretched arms. At the last moment the energy seemed to burst into flame and shoot to the oil soaked furniture.

Sonnenixxus will take to the sky with Rocky, using him as a relay to report enemy movements to Raknesh and he can descend occasionally to inform Carra of the same, telepathy allowing him to remain 100' away. Prizzard breaks into a run once they are less than a quarter mile away. Time? To keep track of the spell duration

"We'll worry about him later," Tanzy gave Halek's hand a assuring squeeze before letting him to so she could draw her rapiers. "Keep safe," she warned the boy before stepping forward protectively.

A bit surprised by the way they moved, Raknesh turned his head toward the general direction of the entrance.

"Halek and Tanzy are in trouble" he said
"We must move toward them to help."

"Stefan is using his dragon form very efficiently outside" he added.

Prizzard:

Prizzard/Stefan: As you get closer to the hospital you see it is smoking and starting to become engulfed in flames. Several undead have caught fire and are breaking down slowly, others are swarming Halek, Tanzy and the others though by now there are a more manageable number compared to those in town. Conceivably you could take care of them and escape into the woods if you aren't all day about it. Meanwhile Sonn. reports that Carra has gathered a sizable number of villagers and are headed your way too.

Raknesh/Tanzy/Bryon: Seeing Tanzy battling the horde, Halek behind her helping as best he can, you rush forward to assist as there are still dozens of corpses in spite of the large amount the fire is consuming. Bryon's fire is burning nicely though you can't help but feel badly for the screams you hear within of those tainted people burning alive.

Everyone: ooc: go ahead and roll 3 general rolls, don't worry about adding anything, and I will determine how well you do for the coming battle.

09:56, Today: Bryon rolled 26 using 3d20 with rolls of 7,7,12. Asked for.

Prizzard positions himself just behind whoever takes the front, calling down the last of his bolts and jabbing his blasting rapier into any undead getting close.

Raknesh rushed to put himself between the boy and the undeads.

Stefan maintains a support and crowd control in the air.

16:28, Today: Stefan Aruello rolled 33 using 3d20 with rolls of 12,20,1. general rolls.

Tanzy ignored the screams from within the hospital and continued to fend off the undead.

ooc: I'm a bit swamped today so I will make this pretty general. For damage, if and when it is necessary I will give you numbers but no one died so it's something that can wait ;P If you decide to press on and travel then it is inconsequential as you will just heal anyway. If you decide to do anything else then you can get your official hit points from me.

It is a substantial effort but between you and Carra's arrival with the townsfolk, the undead in this area are subdued anyway, though there are a great deal of wounds on everyone but Stefan, who is far enough away to avoid damage, though it is difficult to control his flames with so many people around and some of the forest starts to spread with the fire though it is not dry enough to continue far thankfully. When at last all is done dozens of townspeople are casualties, hundreds of corpses litter the area and the burning remains of the hospital smoke and smolder, the screams of those within finally silent.

Sonn. will report that the town still has more enemies but they are thankfully not smart enough to follow you yet and they should be manageable when everyone has recovered. As it is now though, it would be foolhardly to do more than you already have. Loden for one is barely alive, Prizzard has taken substantial damage in particular, and you are all exhausted. Raina shakes her head, surveying the carnage. What now? I'm thinking pressing on and camping may be the best idea right now...

"I doubt we can protect so many in an open area. There must be a secure building in this town.. Maybe a storm shelter?" A series of holes in his robes has become a makeshift sheath for the burned rapier. It looks uncomfortable to wield, but it is a weapon.

Bryon managed to speak up. "Nay, if we are resting we should be about it here. Several of our number are injured and camping out of doors will not aid their recovery. Best let them have a good bed and care to speed along their recovery."

"I agree" said Raknesh.
"We better find a safe building here than risk being attacked in the open.
It's another delay, but I don't think we have much choice...

Stefan, if you could do what's required for the needed healing, that would help."

He also got the 'package' from Halek then went a bit away with Prizzard and Raina.

"Prizzard, I'm sorry about your  arm. Maybe Raina's suggestion could work with you too?
But I'm not sure using this" and he pointed to the arm "might be safe with all that happened here."

<purplr>"I have spells prepared that could help the two most grievously injured members of our group, but not much healing capabilities beyond that at present. I must agree with Raina though, it may be safer for us to get away from these survivors.  Our presence increases their danger, and we may dissappear in the wild before our adversaries can catch us.  But I will stay with you if all wish to stay, I would not want to split our group on my whims."</purple>

Raina takes the arm and secures it to her own pack. Halek looks happy to be relieved of the thing. It may come in useful to you yet Raknesh. I will look into it. Unfortunately we seem to need a second one but one at a time I suppose she nods to Prizzard.

Hearing talk of finding shelter Carra steps forward. The rest of you have not met her, save Tanzy, but she appears to be the sheriff of the town. There is an old barn on the outskirts of town, about a mile's walk I'd say. A good enough place to hole up as any. I understand if you wish to leave us behind but you are welcome to stay the night if you wish. And you Prizzard... she turns to the man. You seem to be an honorable man. Unfortunately there is still a trial I must insist upon, however, it may be best to postpone it for the time being. It is clear you are about something important, more important than the charges you face. I hope that when all is complete you will return and we can fairly right the accusations against you. I would be honored to vouch for your integrity.

ooc: I'm going to let you guys hash over Stefan's suggestion and decide where you want to stay if anywhere, etc.

"Our leaving would simply make collecting these bodies easier along with ambushing us out there." He shakes his head at at Raina offer before responding to Carra: "I wouldn't go as far as 'honorable', but I feel I do well enough. I do plan to return."

"Keep in mind we lost Jett and I'm sure Halek's father has control. He will be looking for us," Tanzy added her two cents. She didn't agree with staying. An old barn wouldn't hold up long against a hoard of undead if more came along, let alone Halek's father if he came looking. They had always moved on quickly in the past, it didn't make sense to stay longer unless they were making plans to take Jett back. That idea would also be foolish in their current condition. Tanzy kept her thoughts to herself simply saying, "I'd get as far away from here as possible if it were up to me." She shrugged as if to say but clearly is isn't and left it at that.

Bryon nodded, "I will submit to the group's consensus."

Raknesh listened to each piece of advice.

"Well... many good points were raised.  Let's vote and the majority will decide our next move."

ooc: Ok, so everyone can go ahead and vote, either out lout or via private message and I will take it from there! Thanks!

Raknesh will ask for Halek's opinion but will favor staying unless the boy has good arguments against it.

Tandy votes to go though it's clear she's not going to put up a fuss. "If only to be able to say I told you so if things get ugly" She added with a grin.

Carra contemplates the situation and frowns. If you think these things are after you and not us, then we will be fine if you decide to press forward without us. Perhaps we had best travel to the next nearest village in the morning anyway, gather reinforcements and help. Then we can rally and finish the rest of them. We can manage without you I think, so do not count us into your calculations she smiles. Halek listens with a nod. I think they will be more keen to pursue us, at least...I hope so he adds.

"Then I vote we head to the next temple."

ooc: I believe that throws the vote to moving along then :)

Now that the consensus is decided, you bid the villagers farewell, Carra reminding Prizzard that they will meet again, when things have settled down. As you head off into the forest Raina examines the arm and frowns. I will study this Raknesh. I may have a use for it after all. Though it would seem we need another for Prizzard here she adds with a sigh. I do worry about Halek's father being loose. I fear for Jett's soul trapped with such a man. ooc: Ok, I'm moving on to the next temple and I will let you know about the arm situation as I do. Let me know any plans for the next week. Note: it would be doable to obtain an arm for Prizzard too, though it would be from a grave rather than another hospital. Raina is also very intent on trying the first arm on Raknesh.

Bryon will aid Althol in his endeavors, failing that she will make herself available to anyone who wishes to craft items. She is very useful in that.

It takes another week to get to the temple, though Raina will offer to defer it in search of a way to heal Prizzard's arm should he feel more comfortable waiting. In the meantime she will attach Raknesh's new one barring any vehement protest on his part. Should you allow it, the arm will take a few hours for the blood to start running through it and though it is paler than the rest of your flesh it does start to feel natural, though you notice it is a bit colder to the touch and it does take some getting used to. Raina is a wonder though, attaching it and muttering spells as she sews away.

Fortunately during this time you are left alone. Jett seems to be in the wind and Halek looks shaken at the fact that his father is out there somewhere, he speaks very little, instead anxious to get to the next temple and move on with your tasks.

During this time Fin bids you farewell, saying after all your close calls he is not comfortable continuing in such danger, though he wishes you the best of luck. ooc: The player has not even logged in since December so I'm writing him out. If he ever comes back it will be easy enough to add him back.

Thanks to Stefan and the passing of time, you are all healed quite nicely so that by the time you arrive at the next temple you are as ready as you will ever be. You see the crumbling building, it appears to be at a small island in the middle of a good sized lake, the water as still as glass. There seem to be no boats in sight though.
