Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

Speaking low and quickly, but clear, and in a voice not entirely his own: "Greatness is a transitory experience, it is never persistent. It depends in part upon the myth-making imagination of sentient creatures. The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in, he must reflect what is projected upon him, and he must have a strong sense of the sardonic. This is what uncouples him from the belief in his own pretensions. The sardonic is all that permits him to move within himself. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy the host." He seems to immediately wake up after this, unaware of having spoken. He struggles to his feet and assesses the situation with some visible worry.

OOC: Anybody near enough to hear what he said knows he does not hold these qualities.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

"Bryon has the right idea," Tanzy notes as their companion charges past. "We are seriously weakened, some of us in no condition to fight... she assists Prizzard in standing. "The less wounded can give the others a head start, this thing isn't that fast." Her opinion stated she springs forward to attack.

"OOC: Attack 34 (18+16) Damage:7 I'm assuming this thing is undead and can't be spring attacked or get a critical on :(

There was little RAknesh could do about the spiders, so he hoped the others would be able to take care of them. But the big one on the other hand was a good target for his sanctified arrows and he fired again.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

ooc: For time's sake I'm going to post, but Stefan, go ahead and roll an extra round to make up for it. Also for time's sake, everyone roll 2 rounds, or in Prizzard's case, let me know what you plan to do. If Stefan doesn't do something about the spiders they will reach you by next round fyi. Bryon, I'm pretty sure you'll be ready to come back at the end of it.

IC: Prizzard is completely devoid of magic, unable to do anything but watch or move slowly away. Luckily Tanzy and Raknesh's attempts yield decent results. He bellows in irritation, more acidic blood flowing. In retaliation, to your absolute disgust, his two flabby arms drop off of his body, sprouting grotesque limbs of their own with sharp fanged mouths suddenly manifesting in the flesh. These horrid fleshy creatures then begin to make their way toward you while the slower lumbering host also nears...

Tanzy pauses in the fight long enough to hand Prizzard her ring of invisibility hoping he could make good use of it. Turning back she attacks the monster again taking a flanking position.

With each of them taking care of specific oponents, Raknesh decided to take care of the arm-whatever-it-had-become.

He fired a volley to each, hoping it would be enough to get rid of them.

Re-entering the combat she used her cone of fire to destroy spiders (but not attack friends).

10:05, Today: Bryon rolled 33 using 7d6.  Cone blast to spiders without friends.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

Three of Tanzy's attacks hit, more disgusting blood pouring out of the wretched thing. Fortunately Raknesh's attacks on the arms prove successful and the things are soon destroyed, melting into puddles of flesh. To your dismay though you can see the quivering stumps on the creature start to lengthen and you suspect he's growing them again.

Meanwhile Bryon successfully takes out half of the spiders with ease. By now though, some have made it to the rest of you and you can feel their stinging bites as they crawl up your bodies, roughly six or so on each of you. The creature itself takes this opportunity to spew forth a mass of projectile bile that, should it hit you, sizzles and burns awfully...

ooc: Ok, if you want to get rid of the spiders it will take a round to shake them off. Otherwise they cling to you and you take 6 damage each round from them. Roll a reflex save, dc 15 to evade the bile, otherwise take 15 points of damage. Prizzard, if you are keeping your distance you should be out of range of the thing so don't worry about the bile, and you do have time to get your glove on.

Next round please

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

The spiders, despite the fact that having them crawling all over your body is really unnerving, where not really a threat.
So Raknesh focused again on the horrid assemblage.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

By now the thing is starting to slow down thankfully and as Stefan unleashes his own fury on it, combined with Tanzy and Raknesh's efforts, things are starting to look up.

He does, however, decide to go after Raknesh, seeing him as the most pestering threat and he spews forth a black liquid directly at the man...it smells like decay and putrid flesh.

ooc: Next round please, almost done.

Raknesh's long years of training bore fruit as he managed to evade most of the dark fluid.
"Don't falter!" he yelled, covered with big spiders and gooey fluid.

"It's almost dead!"  and he launched another volley of arrows.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

ooc: Hahahaha! The mental image of Prizzard sighing from the bag just cracks me up!

Fortunately between Raknesh, Stefan and Bryon's efforts, the thing is finished at last though when he falls he bursts open and several more spiders crawl out. They should be easily dealt with should someone like Stefan or Bryon address them, but they are a nuisance to say the least.

Raina is still very weak but conscious at least and Loden and Halek are both still out but stabilized.

Eying the spiders with distaste, an exhausted Raina remarks, Someone finish those off won't you? In the meantime we need to figure out our next course. There are still swarms of sirens outside not to mention a nasty maze of underwater tunnels that are absurdly easy to drown in... she gives a tired sigh. Resting seems like a good idea if we find someplace uninhabited.

We could go back to the vault where we found the talisman..." Tanzy suggested. It had a good sturdy door and they'd already killed pretty much everything in that area.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

You find yourselves in the room with the talisman, resting up for nearly an entire full day. Luckily Stefan is able to heal you the rest of the way once he's able to recover himself. Prizzard is feeling much stronger though his magic isn't quite all the way back. Still, he's strong enough to help and that's all that matters.

By now everyone who was unconscious is back, including poor Halek who is extremely spent looking, most likely from the emotional turmoil rather than anything else. He speaks very little but Raina has a few quiet words with him that seem to do some good.

At last, recovered and talisman in hand, you are ready to quit the temple. It's a hassle, once again going underwater to reach the main corridor again. Raina looks terrified at the prospect considering her near death last time, but fortunately does better this time.

When you gingerly open the stone doors and look out it is twilight. You fully expect the Sirens to come after you again but to your surprise it is unnaturally quiet. Then you realize why. Looking out at the dark water you are shocked to see dozens of corpses, all floating lifelessly on the quiet waves. All the sirens are dead.

ooc: Roll spots/listens. Also, I believe you still have the boat on the island with you and all your hit points should be back to where they belong.

Re: Chapter 6: The Second Temple

Raknesh too wasn't very enthusiastic at the prospect of going underwater again, as he got lost and nearly drowned too on the first time.

The dead sirens immediately made him suspect their pursuers caught with them, which was not a good thing.

'Rocky, quick, stealthy flying recon' send Raknesh to his crystal, looking around with his own abilities while doing so.
