Poor Tanzy misses. She misses so badly she almost slashes her own leg. Almost. Perkins cries out for her to be careful.


Meanwhile the light from the arrows indeed helps both Raknesh and Prizzard, and many of Raknesh's arrows fly true. It is handy that your foe is large enough that precision is not necessary. Prizzard's flames of course only serve to better pinpoint the thing and even in the dark room you can see the fire engulfing the arrow laden cleaner. It screeches and screams, tentacles flailing and the sickening smell of burning flesh flooding the room. It tries to squeeze itself into the wall but is only  halfway inside before collapsing in a twitching burning mess.

One down eh? The motherwitch notes from the open entryway. Bryon lies in her arms and should you join her you see the old woman crush a blood red berry and drip the fluid into her mouth. If you'd not been so stubborn you could have done this yourself she mutters. Shortly after Bryon's eyes flutter open, her color already improving significantly.

Well? Everyone else in one piece? There are more cleaners out there I'll have you know. Hopefully we can do a better job of avoiding them next time. Nice enough work though, I'll admit she grudgingly praises you.

Her eyes fluttered open and she cast them about. She was still in that blasted cave and then she saw the witch...

She sprang to her feet. ”YOU! How dare you! The next time you touch me, I swear on my mother’s eyes one of us will perish.”

Then she looked around to see if the others had finished with the monster thing. She noted they had and moved so that they were between her and the witch, ”I trust all of you will work to prevent any foreseeable unpleasantness.”

Well that is gratitude for you...lol

"You're already living the dream, what more could you want?" With a grin, her most childish companion splashed a few drops of the terrible sludge toward her, low enough it would not hit her face. She was already coated anyway..

Tanzy wrinkles her nose at Prizzards little splash. “Bryon, I’m not going to complain that the old lady saved your life,” She lays a reassuring hand on the woman’s shoulder.“Call me selfish but I’d risk your anger opposed to letting you die here. I couldn’t live with that guilt...” She laughs despite the drama and the bloody sludge, remembering that she’s already dead.

"Thanks the Light, we are done !" sighs Raknesh in relief.

"I'm all in favor of doing better and avoiding them" he agrees
"And, Byron, you should show at least some respect for someone who saved your live...  And think a bit about it.  More so, I doubt you would be the one left alive if she decided to get rid of you."

Bryon sneered, ”I would rather die that be touched by a filthy witch.” She obviously has some deep seated issue...

Bryons comment put a curious and slightly confused look on Prizzards face, but no further comment. Finally, he drew his weapon to assist in walking around, and so it would be ready.

“Hopefully the need for it won’t arise again” despite her optimistic tone doubt is reflected in her eyes. It was alarming how quickly their friend was taken down. She made a mental note to stick closer to Bryon should they come across another confrontation.

The motherwitch gives a long steely look at Bryon and with complete calm and ease she simply says, The next time you go down, you're going to stay down. Someone as weak as you should never have come in the first place if you were going to be stupid too. With that she turns away and starts walking through the tunnels once more. Needless to say it's...awkward.

ooc: Ok, you are going to traverse the tunnels a bit more and for a lot of it you go unharmed, albeit ridiculously disgusting and messy. Roll a listen check though everyone and for those of you who took berries, let's cement now how many you actually got. Go ahead and roll a 4d 12 to determine how many berries you actually have left. If it's a stupidly unlucky roll though I'll let you roll again. THEN, each time you use a berry to heal you will roll a 1d10 per berry to figure out how many hit points it recovers. How's that sound?

As usual, Prizzard is practicing willful deafness. Also didn't consider bringing berries.

Tanzy slides over next to Perkins, silently mouthing the word Awkward with a cringe. Both her dagger and rapier are put away to keep her hands free for balance and she falls to the rear to avoid the drama.

Raknesh's long training made him very aware to the importance of any sound.

By the time Raknesh and Perkins hear anything, you are nearly out of the tunnels. Unfortunately the muck gets deeper as you go, naturally considering you're near the source of the gore itself. Everyone is waist deep by now and it is the most revolting, horrific thing you've ever walked in. Perkins stays on Tanzy's shoulder, clutching her collar with webbed little hands and yelling at her to keep her balance anytime she threatens to slip.

Ahead of you, you can see the end of the tunnel. It seems to be half buried so that only the upper half of the tunnel is exposed, leading to a room. You'll have to craw through it when you get there and climb out, half buried as you are. You also see it is blocked by rusted iron bars.

That's when you hear it, or rather Raknesh does anyway. Perkins too. Some kind of squeaking, shrieking, mass of high pitched creatures and it's getting closer. Judging from the sound you'd say it's just around the corner from the way you came.

"What did you say about carrion fiends, exactly? " asks Raknesh.
A dreadly image is forming in his mind and he really hopes he is just imagining something worse than it really is.

"Hm? Oh.. Sounds like rats to me. But it is the underworld.." Prizzard seems ready to release a blast of fire.

"Well, whatever they are, I bet they aren't the mundane version...
I'm counting on you Prizzard : I'm pretty bad against a multitude of creatures"

Although covered in gross, Bryon still chose to use the wall climbing method to travers. No need to go swimming in gore after all.

Tanzy crawls her way to the iron bars and shoves Perkins through if he’ll fit.“See if you can find a lock or latch or lever or any way we can open these bars!

Prizzard tries a Hathran group-magic tactic, a reverberating hum matching the tempo and pitch of their shared connection to magic. Turns out it sounds too close to a performance chant they would perform to get all worked up for rituals. Once Prizzard clears his throat he deeply hums an accurate tune, but quickly slips to something which sounds suspiciously like Voodoo, by Godsmack. It resonates heavily in the cave as well, likely turning into a multi-echo performance mess.

9/17, failed to assist Bryon.

Needless to say, Prizzard's odd tune does nothing to aid Bryon, who will have to hope she can concentrate enough to access her powers.

Meanwhile Perkins obeys Tanzy, hopping through to the other side of the bars. He gives a little shriek. Gah! There are skeletons in here! Living ones!! I see a lever though, but it's gonna be a minute! He sounds panicked and you hear the rattling of bones chasing him and see several skeletal feet run by the opening.

Shortly after the source of the sound reveals itself. It was rats. Lots of rats. Dozens of rats. BIG rats. The size of small dogs actually, and they swim through the gore eagerly, black beady eyes fixed on you all. The witch watches with lazy interest.
Flesh rats. They must have finally smelled you. They could pick your bones white within five minutes if you give them a chance. I suggest doing something she shrugs.

ooc: Ok, they'll be on you within two rounds, so if you want to utilize ranged attacks do so now and roll for both of them. Also, Bryon roll your concentration check. If you fail you can try again. In the meantime if anyone wants to mess with the gate feel free. Tanzy, feel free to use your rogue skills to have a crack at it, though without thieves tools you'll have a small penalty.

"Well, there isn't much I can do about the rats, but I think I can help Perkins " Said Raknesh

He put his hand between the bars and the light that usually materialize into his blade begins to flow around the facets of the crystal hand for a moment then suddenly expand in a burst of energy.

Bryon crawled along the ceiling until she got a good bead on the rats. She closed her eyes and did a little Mudra ending with her hand extended, a cone of Ice blowing toward the rats.
