OOC: What about Raknesh's powers? Since he was able to use his powers in those lands, was he part of the deal ? I didn't respond to Prizzard's offer as I didn't think Raknesh needed borrowed power.

ooc: For those that used Vivien's power, you get an extra 1d10 of damage added to your damage rolls and you don't have to make concentration checks to use your powers. Otherwise, every 3 rounds you must roll again to see if you are able to access them :)

Raknehs's arrows hit true and blood spurts out of the eye, blooming red in the snow around it. It's still alive, but you have a feeling not much more should do it in.


Meanwhile Prizzard's charge hits the rolling creature, but it is likewise alive still...


Five more roll down the hill towards you, making seven total so far. Unfortunately they seem to have abilities of their own. Bars of violet energy blast from the two eyes you've both been fighting and you feel wracking pain through your body.


ooc: The other five are still a ways off but you could get them with ranged attacks, plus you still have your current two to deal with. Roll a will save DC 20 and if you succeed you take 14 damage, otherwise you take 28. Also, go ahead and roll an extra die of damage to add to your previous attack for those of you who accepted Vivien's gift, since I forgot to mention that already. Ready for your next 2 attacks please! :)

Oh, and before I forget, the AC for the eyeballs is 18, so you know if you hit or not.

Attempting to finish off this eye, Prizzard aids the second strike in a combo with a deep moan, during which his scythe becomes transparent, ignoring any armor (Wraithstrike, touch attack). Immediately after the combo, a weapon flourish and some hastily-spoken syllables bring forth a blast of fire from his mouth, face partially transforming to that of a red dragon in the process. Hopefully it is timed well enough to catch a few of the approaching eyes. If it would be too early, he'll reposition before casting, even putting on speed with Swift Expeditious Retreat if it allows them to all be caught in the spell.

Continuing his work, Raknesh fires two more volleys while taking a few steps back to keep some distance. The arrows being created and fired at an amazing speed.  The Holy power of the arrows seeming to make then even brighter in this desolate place.

All three of you manage to shake the worst of the creature's spell and are only minorly affected, surging through the pain as you make your counters. Between Raknesh's previous efforts and Prizzard's current ones, the two nearest eyes are soon out of commission. The five new ones are getting closer now, and Raknesh's arrows fly true.

However, that said, you all three start to feel a terrible squeezing sensation in your lungs, as though they're being crushed by some invisible fist. It is becoming harder to breathe....

ooc: Ok, so roll fort save DC 24. If you succeed you take -2 to all attacks, spells, checks, etc for 2 rounds. If you fail you take -5 and must roll another fortitude check again next round to see how much worse it gets. Roll a single round please.

Incredibly enough, Raknesh's body proved as strong as his mind for once.

He could sense the horrible sensation and the beginning of a feeling of fear from suffocation, a remembrance of his nearly drowning.  But this time the mantra, mind over matter, so often told, helped him to cope.

"What's happening?" he asked the Mother as he fired another volley.

Fortunately Raknesh is able to shake off the effects and focus so well that one of his arrows goes straight through the very center of one of the eyes, completely finishing it off. The others are weakening, especially as Bryon helps with magic of her own. At that point you are down to 3 remaining, but to your dismay 2 more emerge from the snow, rolling faster and faster towards you. The mothe-witch gives a cackle of amusement. Oh there they are! I wondered when the last two would make their appearance! She turns then to finally answer Raknesh's question. Those are hydra eyes dear. My son tweaks them to his own purposes of course, but he only makes batches of nine. You're nearly done you know. Good job children! she smiles condescendingly.

As you ready yourselves for the next round, you feel a strange, needles and pins sensation running through your veins. Literally. It's as though you are being stabbed from the inside, like something is hardening from within and tearing through the arteries. It is a difficult sensation to shake off...

Staggering at the new effect, almost dropping his weapon as the effects combine and damaged blood vessels release bright yellow bruises under his skin. Prizzard forces out a syllable and rushes into a position for another cone of fire, hoping the magic of his previous spell can help overcome the effects.

Raknesh hoped the Mother was not merely playing with their hope when she said there wouldn't be more than 9 of those.

It was obvious that Prizzard was feeling worse, and then suddenly there was the pain, a new kind of suffering, something he had never felt before and hoped to never feel again.

"Argh! What kind of magic is this!" he yelled to no-one in particular.

He fired another volley, hoping the horrible feelings will vanish once all the eyes are killed, the pain made his hand shake a bit, but he barely managed to maintain his aim.

By now poor Prizzard's lungs are really bothering him. The stabbing pressure of your lungs near bursting is...distracting. Very distracting. The congealing blood in your veins isn't helping matters but fortunately your fiery spell hits true, even the oncomers, and though the two newest foes dodge a portion of it, the other eyeballs are not so fast, especially since Raknesh is firing arrow after arrow at them. Between your two efforts, only the recent pair are left and damaged at that. Poor Bryon, in the meantime, does not fare well with the magical attacks, obviously pained, but she manages to keep enough concentration to continue aiding you.

Meanwhile, as they close in on you, the remaining eyes blast a red beam around the area, filling the snow with crimson light. When it touches you, every muscle spasms in pure and horrible pain and it's all you can do not to curl up in a ball right there. None of this affects the mother witch, who watches with a "tsk, tsk," of disapproval. Now that one wasn't very fair eh? Well, hurry up then. You've almost done it. she waves her hand at you.

ooc: Ok, will save DC 22 please. You take 51 damage if you fail, and half that if you succeed. Also, Prizzard please roll another fort DC 24 or take -10 to all rolls save damage. Almost there guys! Thanks! :)

The effect of the first painful spell seemed to dissipate and Raknesh felt slightly better, just in time to be hit by another newly discovered pain.

He gave the Mother an angry look for her comment and focused on his task again. It was obvious the two others had an heavier burden from the previous attack, and himself was badly hurt.  So time was short and he could not waste any arrow. Thankfully, those were easy to hit for his aim was impeded by those horrible pains.

Perhaps it's the desperation you feel to end the onslaught of pain these creatures have been flinging your way, but the three of you are able to fight through and do quite well at finishing off your foes. Even Bryon is able to work through the agony and between the three of you, the wretched eyes are finally thwarted, melting into puddles of gore that sizzle in the snow. The pain dissipates but the memory of it is still fresh enough to leave you gasping, weak and exhausted as you look around you for any more danger. Thankfully it seems to be through with you for the moment.

Nicely done. Hopefully that was fast enough that my son doesn't know of you yet. That is if he hasn't broken Raina already. She's a tough one though, she'll probably be able to hold out for a while....Probably. She turns to you with a scrutinizing look. Well, you look unwell I'd say. We're going to have to be sneaks if you're to get through this alive. I wish Raina had more powerful friends. I'm going to have to get more involved than I'd like aren't I? she frowns unhappily.

Raknesh decided not to rise to the critics.
He was still feeling the remnant of the pain and felt to tired to argue.

And he had a feeling it would, at best, be wasted and, at worse, a terrible idea.

They really needed to find a good healer to travel with them, especially now that they had lost Stefan...

The motherwitch looks amused at the lack of response. Alright. Come along children she gestures, lifting her ratty skirts and stepping through the snow with a quick pace. Wounded or not, she isn't going to wait for you.

The snow covered forest seems to stretch on endlessly. The cold is biting and the gray sky gloomily looks down on you, heavy snow clouds threatening to add even more. The witch hums distractedly to herself as she leads the way. On occasion you'll hear a scream in the distance or hear some awful inhuman noise but she simply tells you to ignore it without even batting an eye. Eventually you come across a bush, completely loaded with brilliant red berries, so laden that the branches sag. To your disgust you see several fallen berries that seem to have burst, oozing a liquid that looks alarmingly like blood, a stark contrast in the brilliant white snow around it. Well if you want to heal here's your chance. It's probably not your taste but it will do the job. she gestures to the bush expectantly.
