Everything seems to be happening at once. Raknesh is able to use his arm to turn the skeletons after Perkins and you watch with satisfaction as they rush across the room and cower in the corner. That means whatever room they're in must also be locked, or they'd have left it. At the moment they are sitting ducks so the option to target them from afar is open. Thanks ever so!! Perkins calls to Raknesh in relief.

In the meantime Bryon and Prizzard's attacks have resulted in several rats dying, their horrible screams piercing the air. You almost feel sorry for them. Almost. Unfortunately they are still great in number and by now they're upon you. Three go for Prizzard instantly, burying their sharp teeth in his legs. The rest go for Tanzy and Raknesh, who also feel the vile things trying to rip into their flesh. It's...disconcerting to say the least. On top of that, you can't help but feel a coldness to their bite and as it tries to spread to the rest of you, you realize these are no ordinary rats...

Meanwhile, Tanzy has figured out generally what needs to be done, but Bryon has made it all the easier by exposing the mechanism for her with her hammering blast, though the gate is still closed. It will only take another couple rounds to pick the lock...

ooc: Ok, two more rounds please. Bryon, your magic can last the next two rounds but then you'll have to roll another concentration check, this time DC 18 simply because you're already using it so it makes it easier. If you're still on the ceiling the rats can't get you so you don't have to worry about damage. Tanzy, it will take the two rounds for you to pick the lock, but I'll let you take a stab or two at the rats in the meantime since it won't be that hard for you to do. Meanwhile, everyone who has been bitten please roll const. checks. DC 15. If you fail you get -2 to attacks and rolls, otherwise you can shake off the damage.

Bryon will angle her cone so as not to hit her allies.

His arrows are deadly for those rats, but he can only launch a few of thems.

Thankfully he has learned not to leave openings while firing.

While Raknesh proved his speed and accuracy, Prizzard accidently turned a rat into a gore landmine, throwing off his accuracy for a while.

Compared to the cleaner, the rats are proving a better foe, though they are definitely a nuisance...You've taken out half of them, though those bitten feel weakened, save Tanzy who shakes it off, concentrating on the lock. Eventually she opens it triumphantly and should you wish you can start climbing up, though it's not easy with the slippery gore that covers you. In the meantime the rats are all around you and it will therefore be difficult to do area affects without hurting each other. The mother witch gives a smirk as she heads towards the now open crawlspace. Hungry little dears eh? she arches a sarcastic brow. They won't follow us out. They've learned too many things in the palace would like to pick THEIR bones clean. Come along she gestures, already heading through. Easier said than done with dozens of rats still biting at your legs and waists...

ooc: Ok, so you're already affected by the poisoning so I won't make you roll constitution again since it won't stack, so don't worry about that. You'll have the penalty of failure (for those who did) for the next few rounds but it's temporary so  you can shake it off pretty soon. In the meantime it's tricky to crawl up and out the grate thingy while wet and slimy and covered in rats, so roll a climb check please, dc 15. If you fail you get to stay and get nibbled on for another round until you are able to make it. Naturally I expect Bryon will just spidercrawl instead. Handy!

“Get me out of this hell hole,” Tanzy mutters to herself as rats pick away at her. Wading through the gore has been hard on her, the addition of flesh eating rats is enough to damage her calm. On the verge of panic she shoves the grate open and desperately scrambles up.

Ooc: climb 22 (19+3)

Prizzard holds as rear guard, slicing at the rats, then the next round giving them a parting blast of fire before escaping up the ladder. If anybody is still in the muck at that point, Ill change to blasting a cone of fire, swift flight, and hope any straggler can hold onto me to excape.

You are all able to get out with ease, and thankfully the few rats left from Raknesh and Prizzard's parting shots, do not follow. You find yourselves in a cell. Perkins waits patiently while you join him, trying to shake the gore off yourselves. Several skeletons cower in the corner, still afraid of Raknesh and keeping a wide berth. Just as Tanzy goes to examine the lock on the cell door, a man in black appears on the other side, looking in. Besides his black hooded coat he also wears a black porcelain mask that covers his entire face. He looks fearsome to say the least but a moment later your fears are eased when he starts to open the door, speaking to Tanzy. The King knows something's afoot. A party was spotted sneaking in to the tunnels a couple hours ago and he's been raising his security. I had hoped you'd be able to find each other. Greetings great one, he nods to the motherwitch who smiles back. Ah Emeric. You just saved me the trouble of recruiting you. Is my granddaughter alright? He shakes his head at this. I don't know. She's with him. He is...angry. We need to regroup, see if we can sway helpers. Do you think you can all be quiet? If anyone sees you...Well folk here know someone alive when they see them.

ooc: You'll need to roll hides and move silently please. Also, if anyone wants to bum a berry off of Raknesh now is the time to heal.

Bryon decided to be honest, ”I am not good at hiding or sneaking.”

Prizzard hopped up the ladder with his Sadism spell aura raging, soaking up the pain dealt to all those rats. He was ready to tear down the door bare-handed (and would have likely succeeded), but having been the last up the shaft, hopefully the occult-dressed stranger has begun speaking. Otherwise, the wild man pumped up with spell power will be quite rude..


Prizzard could hide when necessary, but sneaking.. he would have better luck fighting the whole sewer.

Tanzy is relieved to see her friend again and isnt at all put off by his fierce appearance.“I shouldn’t have any problems getting around unnoticed, especially since I’m actually dead.” Leave it to her to put a positive outlook on her recent death.
“Also if you’re looking to sway helpers you have a room full of petrified people that I’m sure could be convinced to turn against the man who ordered them turned to stone.”
Tanzy took a quick moment to explain that Emric had the disturbing ability to turn people into petrified statues which was why the lord of death kept him around.

Fortunately for Emeric, he is found an ally just as Prizzard grips the door to rip it off its hinges, still very souped up from his spell. The masked man takes a startled step back but Prizzard realizes by now he's not a threat and the conversation continues with the poor door dangling by a single half broken hinge.

As Bryon admits she's not good at "hiding or sneaking," the motherwitch gives her a nasty little look of amusement. Why am I not surprised? she then turns her attention back to the matter at hand. Alright, those who do not excel at being quiet can stay in the back. I'd rather you don't alert anyone ahead of us if you can avoid it. We should make for the penance chamber. That's where Emeric's little creations reside. I'm sure I can convince them to go against my son. If we run into any trouble, silence it quickly and whatever you do, don't let any stragglers get away! If they do the entire place will be after us!

At a nod from the motherwitch, Prizzard yanks the door the rest of the way off and you start your race through the corridors, which are black stone floor to ceiling. The lighting is spaced out so there are spaces of total darkness as you travel. Unfortunately, Prizzard is not the quietest and any advantage the shadows grant you is limited at best, especially when you hear a voice behind you, sounding startled. Hey there! What is the meaning of this!? He seems to only see Prizzard, the rest of you able to stay obscured in one of the unlit shadows of the hallway. He's an extremely handsome young man with pale gold hair and violet eyes. His features are strangely familiar but Prizzard of course has never seen him before.

ooc: Bryon, I rolled your stuff for you. You actually got lucky! By the way, sorry guys if I forget something or had typos. I forgot I was supposed to make dessert for valentine's day and now must rush away and frantically figure something out.

Walking more calmly toward the man. "I was fighting some undead and suddenly found myself here, I'd like to know the same." Prizzard tried to bluff, a skill he rarely practiced. Maybe he was here because of a botched spell, maybe he was summoned here? He sure looked like he had been fighting, with the red dragon head, electrified scythe, and covered in gore and wounds.

The man frowns at Prizzard, taking in everything with a bit of concern. You start to get the feeling that he's not exactly comfortable with what he sees and that he's debating how much he wants to get involved. Hm. Well you certainly look like you've been fighting undead. What's your name fellow? I'm usually the one who greets newcomers to this kingdom, I'm surprised not to have discovered you already but then... he pauses. You're alive. Aren't you? Or at least not completely dead, I can tell. He pulls out a plum from his pocket of all things and holds it out to you with a small smile. Forgive my manners. You must be so hungry! Here, won't you take this? Suddenly Prizzard, it's the most enticing piece of fruit you've ever seen. You're starving suddenly and it's all you can do to keep from grabbing it from his hands right then... ooc: Roll a will save please.

Meanwhile, the motherwitch hisses in the shadows with Raknesh and the others. She says it so quietly you almost aren't sure if you were imagining it, If he goes for the fruit, shoot him. Either of them. Don't let him eat it!

Bryon has a better idea. She creates a cone of hammering blast and hits them both.

Prizzard manages to keep his hands on his weapon and works through the temptation (I think. No DC given). "Dead? I doubt it. I can't help but assume this is the land of the dead, then, and that plum as much of a threat as any in the fae realm. Leave me be, trickster! I'll find some way back.." Prizzard recalls his calm anger near the end, the face and voice practiced to ward off bounty hunters and nosy strangers alike, then begins to jog away.

Unless ﹰPrizzard does reach for the fruit, Raknesh Will stop bryon from ruining his attempt.

“That’s Draden, Raina’s brother,” Tanzy whispers  still crouching in the shadows. “What happens if he eats the fruit?” She asks the mother witch her hand rests lightly on her weapon ready to draw it at a moments notice.

Prizzard is indeed able to resist the lure of the fruit and the blond man listens with surprise. He seemed pretty sure that the plum would work and seeing how well Prizzard resists it catches him off guard. I'd hold here if I were you! he calls back, not threatening but firm nonetheless. I am a keeper of this place, a welcomer you might say. If you run into someone else, and you surely will, it's not a piece of fruit they'll offer you, but quick and great harm. You'd be wise to stay with me and figure out what happened to you. He sounds surprisingly civil under the circumstances, but also wary of this dark dressed stranger.

Meanwhile Raknesh is able to convince Bryon to stay her hand for the moment as you all watch and see what Prizzard decides. The mother witch sighs, watching the exchange. Why did it have to be Draden? she mutters. He's a good lad but his loyalty is divided. There's no telling if he'd be willing to go against his father or not. He's always been a self centered thing. As for the fruit, well it is a contract of sorts. Anyone who partakes of food or drink in the death kingdom becomes a servant of my son, the black king. It's not easy to untangle that kind of bind. she shakes her head.
