Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Hello everyone! It's going to take me a few days to get everyone ready to go, not to mention my husband has tomorrow off so that leaves me little time to go over stuff until Tuesday. I'm hoping to start playing by Tuesday or Wednesday. In the meantime, those of you who haven't may get their sheets ready and as an important note that I forgot to make, please use the max hit points when you determine those for your character sheets. Meaning if you have a hit die of 10 then you'll get 10 points plus your constitution modifier every level. Trust me, you'll be glad you have the extra points....

By the way Ammie, I love your avatar! :D

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Good ! I had made poor rolls (including a 1 for a D10...)

I believe I am ready, my CS was sent by pm for checking.

and that avatar almost had me screaming in horror: BA baracus in a suit, by the gods ^^  (note: in french he is known as Barracuda. A good thing I thought to check, otherwise you probably would have wondered what I was talking about.  And I'm not French, but Belgian  quote from Mr Poirot ^^)

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

By the way everyone, the starting gold has been moved up to 900. You don't need to use your gold to buy your equipment. Any equipment that people think fits their character (within reason!) will be given automatically after I approve it. This means such things as armor, weapons, and other such equipment. However, if you are looking for magic items and such, that will cost you from your gold. Don't worry though, there will be lots of opportunity for making money in the game. I'm pretty generous with treasure and the like. Also, to make everyone's life a bit easier you can all have a bag of holding that holds 200 pounds for starters. I always hated having to worry about the weight of my gear as a player and it's just nicer to worry about playing instead of how much you are carrying.

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Welcome to the party, Rava. So what sorts of characters are everyone playing?  Are we starting off knowing one another or will there be an event that brings us to joining?

You will be joined by an event. There are also so many people who are joining that I'm going to have to make two groups!

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Yeah, I was thinking that too. I'm actually considering finding someone to take over the rules portion of the play so I can just concentrate on the story. I've always hated the technical side but it is a necessary evil.

"The Code isn't so much a rule as it is guidelines."
D&D is only as complicated as you make it.  GM's word supercedes the technical aspects. ;-)

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

An excellent point, however I still can get overwhelmed believe it or not. Because of this I'm going to ask everyone to make things easy on me. When you use a feat, ability, or whatever the case may be (especially in combat) please copy and paste the description of all the abilities you are using in a private line in the post so that I don't have to look everything up when I am doing combat. This means if you are casting a spell at the bottom of the post in a private line I should have a full description of that spell. The same goes with feats, etc. This means I want to know the details of saving throws against all spells and such so that combat can be quick and smooth for all involved. This way I don't have to look up every single attack people are making. If it is a simple melee or ranged attack and it is self explanatory that is fine. Otherwise, descriptions please.

Also, I will need to start a smidge later than anticipated as there are a few players not quite ready yet. They will be soon so I'm thinking Thursday at the latest.

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Hey Artemis, do all humans speak common or does each kingdom have its own dialect?  Was just going over Orrik's known languages and I was wondering.

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Dang it! Someone else asked me that and I forgot to answer them! All kingdoms speak common, however there are still separate languages for various species such as elves, dwarves, etc. The uncharted lands also have some unknown languages that you could make up or choose.

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Alright, good to know then.  I've got my sheet loaded into my character details (at least as much as I've got done of it so far).  My books still aren't unpacked yet but I'll have the special particulars about Orrik included on the sheet as soon as I am able.

Well i know that a certain event will make us meet each other, but if anyone is from the kingdom of Jaysirr, we might have met or heard about each other.

PM me and we'll see :0)

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

I had considered such myself, which is why I was asking.  Orrik is from Halidar himself, and I was lead to believe we had more than a few weavers of the arcane amongst our numbers.  Of course, the way Halidar is, one could hail from anywhere and still end up there. Hahaha

Hmm, well Orrik could be seen as a soul in need of saving and a bit of divine guidance.

Most of you have already done this, but please make sure you tell me your reasons for starting in Halidar. It will help me get the story started. Thanks!

Re: ooc- The place for chatting

Another thing, Orrik came up with the truly brilliant idea of making a "pm thread" for his questions. This means that any questions he has for me that are private, he uses his one "pm" thread for. This way I don't have a billion zillion threads in my private messages and its easier to deal with. So AFTER you are done with your character creation, if you have any further questions feel free to make a pm thread in private messages and that will be our means of communication. Thanks.
