Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

Group 1= Stephan Albreckt, Lowac, Raknesh, Alexia

Everyone: The great kingdom of Halidar is enormous. It so massive that it would take several days to ride from one end of the walled city to the other. The place is bustling and crowded in every corner, as if nearly unable to contain the thriving community within. There are towers, universities, fine houses and of course the empress's palace that takes up a significant amount of the city. Many here are noble, wealthy, or simply well connected. However, there is a significant part in the Kingdom city that is impoverished and destitute. The wealthy turn a blind eye to this need, and all but the most foolish or the most desperate avoid the slums of Halidar if they can. It is nearly suicide to traverse there unless one is extremely sure of what they are doing. Despite these two extremes of financial opposition, there is a thriving middle class in Halidar. It is here that the most affordable inns are found that are acceptable to travelers such as yourselves. One inn in particular seems to be a local favorite, and this is called The Spinning Wheel. It is one of the few in this area with vacancies and honest prices.

ooc: Note, none of you know each other as yet. I will inform you when you do meet each other so that introductions can be made. Have fun everyone!

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

A young man entered the inn, closely followed by a strong looking dog. The man had an air of nobility about him. It could have been the way he stood straigth, the cleanlyness of his gear or the rather expensive looking sword at his belt. The bulk under his clothes suggested that he was wearing some sort of armor and a heavy looking wooden shield was strapped on his back.

Despite his well trimmed beard, his hair was all messy and entangled. As he sat at an empty table, the dog followed and sat besides his master. It was pretty obvious that the man's pet was well trained.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

Lowac entered the inn making his way to the innkeeper with his large mastiff in tow.  His attire set him apart from most in the room, a fact that appeared to go unnoticed by Lowac.  He looked into the innkeepers eyes and spoke politely but with a hint of authority. "I will be staying here, but no one shall know I am here and I am to remain out of your mouth as well as those employed by you.  Do we have an understanding?"  He says as he places double the regular rooms rate on the counter and slides it forward allowing the innkeeper to count it, but he does not remove his hand until he hears an answer he is satisfied with.

Already in the inn was a man in deep thoughts. He was absentmindedly toying with a spoon on his plate, a small shield lays on the table, but no weapon is visible.

For each of the newcomer, he looked up, his eyes suddenly full of attention, inspecting them with attention, then he returned to his meal.

A woman of blond hair and arrived at the inn. She couldn't be older than 25, but she looked something off. Her attire, some times, when she moved, revealed a part of chain a chain shirt shirt under it. The spear that was on her hand looked like it had seen its share of battles.

She moved swift for a table, letting her spear lean on her side for easy reach. Then as if something had just surfaced on her head she let her spear behind her. She waited for a maid to come attend her. A small smile on her pretty face.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

Stephan saw the newcomers and noticed their strange attires. By the way they moved and by their looks, he knew they had seen battles. His old teacher had shown him the differences between a man and a fighter and as he looked at the patrons, he saw another man with the same traits as the newcomers, traits also found in him.

He lazily scratched the head of his dog as he sipped his cup. " Strong people for such a normal inn Draco." he whispered.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

ooc: Note, there is more for everyone at the bottom of this post so scroll down please.

Stephan: A serving man raises an eyebrow at the dog as though he disapproves, but he doesn't seem to want to say anything, most likely out of intimidation. Nonetheless, he watches the dog warily as he puts a pitcher of water beside you.

Lowac: The innkeeper looks a bit startled at your words, but quickly recovers. He gives a quick nod. Very well sir. I never see need of mentioning my guests, as long as they don't make any trouble for me anyway. He shrugs. You've got your understanding. He accepts the money gratefully but you notice him giving you curious looks from time to time, as though he is wondering who you are. You believe that he will keep his end of the promise though. He's just exhibiting natural curiosity.

Raknesh: A pretty serving maid comes up to you and asks if you require anything more. She has a lovely twinkle in her eye and seems to be looking at you with a mix of fascination and attraction. This may have something to do with the fact that you are a Kalashtar and so somewhat exotic, though she is no doubt used to many races.

Alexia: You don't have to wait long before a maid comes. It seems that this place was worthy of the praise the locals gave it. The service here was fast. She gives you a small smile, eying your spear a bit warily. Is there anything I can get you? Are you staying the night or do you simply need refreshment?

Everyone: As you are all settling in to the tavern you see two newcomers enter. One is a beautiful woman with skin the color of dark cinnamon and deep chestnut hair. From the exotic kohl under her eyes it appears she is from Dajhiris. She looks around a bit warily as though looking for enemies. Upon seeing the room she relaxes a small bit but still looks extremely on edge. You notice that she has a bloody bandage wrapped around her upper arm. Accompanying her is a young man. Judging by his trappings he is from Uthirienn and he likewise has a very good looking face, though his skin is very pale, which is the fashion in his homeland. The only thing which mars his looks is a large bruise on the right half of his face. From the looks of it, their encounter was fairly recent. The pair sit down at a table and order wine from a maid. Then they hunch down and begin speaking to each other in low tones, constantly looking for anyone who might be listening in.

ooc: All who are interested roll listen checks please.

The entering couple peeked Stephan's curiosity. They both look as if they had been in a recent fight and that bloody bandage meant it had been a rough one. He tried his hardest not to listen to their conversation but the man couldn't help but hear parts of it.

The way people looked at him has lost its ability to make him uneasy for a few months now.

He answered the maid with a polite negative answer. He would have said more but the two battered people that just entered the inn have caught his interest and he didn't want to let the maid notice he was paying attention to their conversation.

"Not at the moment, Im expecting someone. But maybe later I will have to stay. Someone has the bad habit of being late." She could feel she didn't feel all that safe with that behind her, but she wasn't about to let her opening weapon too far. "I would like some whine and a salad, for now." Better keep it civil. Cant have her running like she had told her she would eat her alive, can she?

After Lowac asks about the details of his accommodations he turns to face the room with a sly smile across his lips.  Standing there leaning slightly on his ornate staff he scans the room watchfully for a vacant table and takes particular notice of the Dajhiris and Uthirienn who just entered the room.  He taps his staff once lightly on the floor to regain the attention of his large mastiff companion who seems to be occupied with the smell of food.  Lowac saunters over to a free table near where the two who caught his attention have seated themselves, his mastiff follows with a reluctant moan.  He seats himself, leaning his staff against the table and his foot, and motions for a serving maid while trying to listen in on the conversation of the apparent Dajhiris and Uthirienn but his mastiff companion is groaning trying to gain Lowac's attention.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

Raknesh and Stephan: You both manage to overhear most of what the couple is saying, despite their attempts to be unnoticed. The bits you hear go like this: (woman: Well, who do you think we should tell about this? I don't know anyone here and I don't know how to get a hold of the empress anyway.) (Man: That's if you think she'd even believe us. I suppose we could try to go to the palace and tell the guards or something? But we really need to get our wounds tended to first. Well surely she has to believe us right? I mean there are all those rumors going around anyway. We're surely not the first to have had an experience like this? I doubt it. But if she doesn't listen then it may be too late for Halidar. He shakes his head.

Lowac: He informs you of the accommodations, most of which are public sleeping rooms with a few private rooms that are more money. When you sit at the table a young maid comes and offers you some wine. You are unable to hear the couple.

Alexia: The maid seems to distract you for you cannot hear the couple's words. She takes your order with a nod and strides away. You cannot help but notice the interesting looking customers in the room. All have an air of danger and skill about them, though not necessarily in a threatening way.

'We have a lot of warriors here this day. Could that have anything to do with this new couple?. No, probably I'm just over analyzing things.' Still, she kept an eye on her spear, just in case something happens. She reached a hand inside her side bag, and counting with her fingers she held the money in coper coins. She wasn't about to risk having all of them going for her head.

The last sentence pronounced by the man sends a small shiver down Raknesh's spine.

'How could something be 'too late' for this powerful city?'
He wishes to know more but is reluctant to move toward the two wounded, at least for now.
'How could I approach them without raising suspicion? I have no talent in healing so I need to find another occasion... until then, I might learn something more precise... But if they move, I will have to go for a more direct approach...'

He takes a look around, trying to see if someone else heard the same thing, and how they would react if they had.

When he had heard enough, Stephan stood up and approached the wounded couple.

"Please pardon my intrusion, but it would be a lack of etiquette and it would hurt my honor if I did not offer my help to treat those wounds." he said as he does a little bow.

"My name is Stephan Albreckt and such a beautiful lady should not wince in pain." His words were not flirty and were said with a note of respect in them.

Unable to hear anything over his companions moaning, which Lowac understands as the Mastiff is hungry, he orders a meal from the server. "I'll have a bowl of soup and something that was once alive cooked rare." He stated with a peculiar tone that suggested he was slightly uncomfortable making the second order.

After the severing maid had left he takes a sip of wine and places his hand on the mastiffs head and look down to his companion with a caring smile, "Soon, I have ordered food for you now hush so I can hear what is going on."  The Mastiff seems to accept this and lies his head down on the floor near Lowac's feet quietly, looking out from under the table at the room.

Lowac once again glance over the the wounded pair and notices a man approaching their table.  He tries once again to eavesdrop on their words.

She couldn't just let this happen could she. "Excuse me. Bu I don't think the lady or his friend needs any of your help." She had experienced more than once that line. Before she could give the man any chance to object she brought a hand up to her face, let it shine with white light and let its light shine upon the lady.  Most of her wounds disappearing.

Lowac and Raknesh: You both are able to hear a great deal of the conversation now that the two strangers have become involved. The couple looks to be surprised by all of this sudden attention.

Stephan and Alexia: The pair look at Stephan in surprise at his offer, and the woman even more so when Alexia suddenly heals her. Well thank you! She replies to both of you. I'm a bit surprised though...I'd heard that Halidar was a dangerous place full of greedy cutthroats and snobby nobles. How is it then that within my first hour here two strangers have offered to help me? As she talks the man seems to be studying you with an almost suspicious frown, no doubt wondering why strangers would be so helpful.

"Halidar is indeed a dangerous place for strangers like you... and me. I come from the kingdom of Jaysirr and if Bsordir wills it, be only passing through here. I do not whish to disturb you any longer, since your wounds have been healed. May you find what you are looking for." With a slight bow, he turns and goes to his table. Alexia: The woman looks at you in dumbfounded surprise but recovers quickly, giving you a small nod as though she agrees with you. The man beside her looks at you warily. As you stare back you notice the arrival of your father's friend. He looks around for you, sees you, and then with a smile comes and sits down. Alexia! How are you my girl? He asks with a grin.

Stephan: The woman gives you a grateful smile and thanks you for your well wishes. As you are starting to leave though, she asks, I appreciate your help. Do you by any chance know where we could find the palace gates? This place is massive and I have no idea where to go. She asks it quietly as though she does not want to draw attention to herself. Her companion looks a bit surprised that she would ask this question to you but she silences him with a glare. You see, we have a friend who works at the palace and we aren't quite sure how to get in touch with him.

ooc: Anyone listening in at this point can roll a sense motive check.

Raknesh and Lowac: As you both listen in, you can see the Uthirrien man notice you. He glowers as though he finds you a threat and he stares back openly as if to say, "what are you listening at?" The woman does not seem to notice her friend's threatening glances. Though most Uthirrien's are not particularly good warriors, there are always exceptions and this man looks as though he is one of those. You also know that his country is famous for their assassins, which are the most skilled in Thear. If he is an assassin, then he will be a force to be reckoned with. However, at this point you are not threatened by him. He only appears to be sizing you up, so far.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

ooc: Just fyi everyone, when the couple speaks in this post, all of you can hear what they are saying so you may want to read what I wrote for all of you, though Alexia's is a private conversation you won't be able to hear unless you make a good listen check.

Raknesh and Lowac: The Uthirienn gives Lowac a startled look at the wink, but quickly recovers. He gets up and slips from his seat, approaching both of you by standing in the general center of your two places in the room. He glances at you both as he speaks, Is there something in particular about me that you two find interesting? His voice has a hard edge and it is clear you have made him uncomfortable. If you plan on robbing me later I suggest you spare your energy. Even if you could best me, which I doubt, you would be wasting your time. I don't have much money and I don't have anything worth stealing so you might as well get it out of your mind or you'll waste everyone's time.

Stephan: The woman frowns thoughtfully as if trying to remember your directions. As she thanks you, you become aware of her companions actions (see the post above). She stands up and puts a hand on her head as if embarrassed then she too stands and snaps at the man, Jett you idiot! Sit down! We need to get started for the palace as soon as possible and we don't have time for you to pick fights with everyone who looks at you the wrong way! Our business is far more important than your stupid mannish pride! They will be here soon and we just can't take any chances now! Her voice is urgent, stressed, and almost frantic. She is clearly afraid of something. You can't help but wonder what she meant by "they." It sounded alarmingly ominous.

Alexia: Robert sits down and laughs at your suggestion he pay. He nods in agreement and orders from a passing barmaid. Then his smile fades as he starts to get down to business. I suppose you have heard about the rumors then? He asks in a quiet voice. They say that there is a strange race of people that have been sighted lately. Anyone who encounters them is either killed or taken prisoner. Where they are taken I do not know, though there is no shortage of rumors on the situation. No one here has actually seen any of them, and the nearest report of their activity was clear in Jaisyrr. We should be safe for a while, if these rumors hold any truth to them. The question is, what exactly are we dealing with? Some say these people are nothing but lies. Propaganda by warmongers to create chaos. I only hope that is true. The stories I've heard... He trails off. But what of you? How have you been?

Despite the man's bold move, Raknesh doesn't forget his training and keep his attention divided to hear what the woman was saying without showing any weakness to the man by looking away.

"I do not know for that man" he says, making a gesture toward Lowac.

"I am trained to notice things, to hear informations, and I did it out of habit.
I listened with increasing interest and curiosity.  You appears to fear something, and you need to get to the palace as quickly as possible. Yet you made a halt in a inn, without much knowledge of the place.  I have to wonder if you weren't looking for something, or someone.  Even subconsciously trying to find some help.

I happen to be curious by nature and you caught my interest.  I have nothing planned for tonight and so I would gladly escort you toward the palace, at the condition you tell me more of your misadventure."

She was kidding, anyone would notice that from her tone of voice. She was worried, that people that had helped her would just fall down in a battle she could have helped.

She would have continued, had the antics of the people of the inn not distracted her. "But it looks like we have a happy group here. <hope nobody tells you anything for them."

Lowac says, as he claps his hands with all of the eagerness and enthusiasm of a play's patron after a star performance.  Lowac stands and continues to applaud in an attempt to unsettle the Uthirienn a bit more, testing him, gauging his reactions to various stimuli.  After a moment he stops clapping and address Jett, "You ~would~ do well to accept my assistance, and I applaud you for your unique way of asking for it.  When are we leaving?  Soon I hope as you companion seems to value urgency in the matter."  says Lowac in a charming but diplomatic manner as if it had already been settled and he was just restating the obvious.  He grabs up his staff in his left hand and walks toward Jett offering his right hand in greeting.  His mastiff still lies under the table but perks up its ears and watches Lowac.

Jett arches his eyebrow, a bit surprised by these sudden offers of help. He addresses those who have spoken to him thus far.I will admit, it would be nice to be able to have someone help us out here, but it wasn't my intention to ask. At least not consciously anyway... He says dryly. As for our misadventure, it is not something I dare divulge in such a public place. I have to admit though, I am tempted to tell you of it as I'm not quite sure what to do about everything we've seen and heard and you look like capable warriors. He shakes his head. But then how do I know if I can trust you? If I told you what I knew you could cause a great panic. That is if people even believed you. He finished with a frown. However, if the empress does not listen, I may need help warning the people. He finishes vaguely.

"As you might have noticed I'm not from this part of the land, so you don't have to worry about possible treason." said Raknesh, momentarily distracted by the exchange between Alexia and her interlocutor.

"The more you speak, the more I wonder - or even begin to worry - about the mystery you fear so much.  You have either said too much or too little, and I enjoin you to speak freely, even if we have to go outside.  For you have gained my support by catching my interest.  Curiosity and search for information are my motivations, in any situation."

Alexia took a long look at him, it was of consideration to his words, however she didn't make him wait long. "I would ratter know what we all will deal with now, than don't know and don't be prepared and suffer a long and painful death." She threw her shoulders back as she lifted her hands at her sides. "What else can I say, I took a lot after my father. And the sooner we deal with this, the sooner my town and all the kingdom will be safe." She finished with a small smile.

She could hear all that was going around and if what the couple told was true, then she will end up talking to them again. Alas, there still was some matters at hand.

Everyone listening: Thank you all for your offers of help. I believe that I will accept them for now. When you find out what I have to say I would be surprised if even the most cutthroat of criminals would want to interfere with our mission. Please, let us find some place that is more private to discuss our troubles. He pauses and looks at Ezran and Stephan with a small smile. It would seem that my lady companion has already enlisted this young man's help as well. I suppose we should all go together then?

At Raknesh's words, he nods and looks at Alexia with a hint of suspicion. He strides over to her gracefully, his movements like a cat.

ooc: The next conversation will  be quiet so anyone wishing to listen will need to roll again please. Thanks!

Alexia: Your friend does not answer you right away, for he too seems a bit distracted by the conversation of the others in the room. He leans forward and says We may need to find out what these folks are about. It would seem that they know of a threat that very well could be linked to what I must tell you about. If that is the case we may need to involve these people in my deadly secret. He shakes his head grimly. As he does so, Jett approaches and says quietly, Good lady, I am aware that you have heard much of my conversation. Enough to peak your curiosity perhaps. You seem a decent woman, for healing my companion. I am going to ask you to keep my words to yourself for now so as not to jeopardize my mission. Can I trust you to do that?

She couldn't agree more with her friend, this looked like something of a bards tale. She had kept an ear on the conversation around. It looked like could be both dangerous and fun.
She was a bit surprised when the man, Jett, got close to them. She just looked to him with a neutral expression and let him talk. An itch started to flow inside her, what was so difficult that made all this people want to hold it inside and, at the same time want to talk about it?
"Well, can say I didn't hear. It was way too loud towards the end of it." She paused as she extended her hand at her side, her fingers making popping sounds as she stretched them. "And things look like they will just keep getting more difficult if we don't find what is causing them. So, yes, you do have my word on that."

Everyone: Jett and Ezran lead you out of the tavern and you walk a ways before Jett finds a suitable place to tell their tale. Before leaving, Robert informs Alexia that he will meet up with them soon after checking on some information and he implores her to listen closely to Jett and Ezran so she may tell him what he misses. Then he grins and departs.

You all find yourselves in the back room of a small shop. It appears that Ezran knows the owner and she explains that she has traded with the man many times when on caravans. Once everyone is settled and quiet and they are sure that no one is around, Ezran is the one who takes the lead in telling their story. She thanks you all for your interest and assures you that if after you hear their tale you wish to leave that is fine as long as you keep silent. Then she begins.

We've all heard the stories about a strange people who have been spotted here and there throughout Thear. She explains. They have hair as black as the night sky and skin as white as snow. They are known to be fierce, strange, and cruel. Of course, most people think these are only stories to spark war and chaos. Most think that it is the groups in Iatharias who wish to spread propaganda against their ruler and create disharmony in the land. I myself thought this, until a few days ago. She shakes her head. I was on my way to Uthirrien with Jett and a few of our companions. I was going to buy spices there to trade at a higher price and they were to be my business partners. We were only four days from Halidar at the time, making our way east when we were attacked. The people who attacked us matched the description of the people of these stories, only they were far more disturbing. Their skin was white, yes, but it had a gray tinge to it and their skin looked thin and almost transparant in places. Their eyes were a gray so light  that their irises didn't seem to have any color. The rest of their eyes were bloodshot and evil and they had dark circles beneath them. Their entire demeanor was that of death and they looked alarmingly like walking corpses, though they didn't move so. They were far too fast. There was a dozen or so of them and they ambushed us so quickly we didn't have a chance. We awoke later in their camp. There was hundreds of them. They didn't speak at all, though we certainly asked questions. I don't know how they communicated with each other, but they did somehow. We were bound and helpless. That's when they took our companion Reddar and right in front of our very eyes they ripped him to shreds and ate his flesh. Her voice quivers at these words and it is clear she is affected. After that they kept us enslaved. I don't know what they were going to do with us but we were not the only souls they captured and Reddar was not their only victim. Jett and I managed to escape but there are hundreds of them and they are marching in this direction. We have to warn the empress but we do not want to create panic.... She trails off. That is all I have the heart to tell you of now. She whispers.

Jett responds to the questions with a grave expression. It took us only a few days to reach the city. We were able to obtain horses on the way and therefore gained an advantage. They are fast, but they are on foot and are traveling in a large group. I would say that we have about two days at best to prepare for their coming. As for being stealthy, these people are masters at it. I don't quite understand how they are able to do so, but they will have no problems hiding their coming. He shakes his head. He turns to Stephan. If you think you can help us get in with the empress, then please do so my friend. All of our lives depend upon it. These things, they may resemble humans but they are not. They are something far more sinsiter and cruel. The streets of Halidar would be their feeding ground. He turns to the rest of you. Now that you all know of what lies ahead, would you be willing to help us prepare this city for the fight? Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

You head to the palace, which takes over an hour. It was just fortunate that you were close to it in the first place in this massive city. The palace towers rise high into the sky in a splendid array of finery and ancient architecture. The palace itself is walled with a massive structure some 80 feet high and the only entrances are guarded heavily. You arrive at the main entrance, which is where a true noble would show themselves. The guards eye this strange group with curiosity but do not turn you away yet. What business do you have in the palace of the empress? One asks a bit boredly, clearly he has been through this routine many times. He directs his attention mostly at Stephan.

As the pair begin to talk, the rest of you can't help but notice something of a commotion at a storefront a ways down the street. For those of you who investigate, you see to your horror, a child biting into an older boy who looks to be around 12. He screams as the younger lad buries his teeth into his side and latches on like a hungry animal. Blood runs down the older boy's body and it looks as if the young child is trying to rip out part of the boy's side with his teeth. Meanwhile, bystanders are attempting to remove the child and help the screaming lad who is pummeling his attacker with his fists to no avail. The scene is certainly disturbing enough but for some reason it fills you with the utmost dread and fear...

Quickly, as the situation needed an immediate intervention or the boy would end badly -or even fatally - wounded,  Raknesh summoned a dart of pure energy, a pale blue  and send it flying toward the small child.

Knowing it might cause the child to lose consciousness for a long period, he charged the dart with more power, as the 'demon child' looked quite resilient and the boy was in dire danger.

He will then move toward the scene to get a better look, the tale about cannibalism he just recently heard echoing in his mind.

The guard looks a bit surprised at Raknesh's question, as if it were something that he should know. You must be new in town good fellow. For the last few weeks there have been several such attacks made by animals and small children. The animals who attack are usually of the gentlest nature. We've had to put several down already. As for the children, well, we have had to resort to other measures. Thus far there has been no loss of life, but it has come close. The poor things have no memory of what they were doing after they snap out of whatever it is they are in. Our mages have been studying the situation and have no idea what is going on. He then turns to Stephan. So, good sir, if you think you have any answers for the empress as to what is causing this chaos, I am quite sure she will be happy to see you. He gestures with an arm and begins to lead everyone quickly through the palace gates. At Stephan's suggestion of spending time with his family, he gives a grim nod. Aye, that is a good idea. But I admit I do fear my own children these days... He shakes his head.

You find yourselves in an audience chamber where you are made to wait until at long last someone bids you enter the throne room. You are all surprised at how easily this went, which either means that Stephan is very convincing or that the situation is desperate enough that they will jump at the chance for any answers. Perhaps it is some combination of both. Jett and Ezran look around them in amazement, taking in their surroundings as they are very impressive. On the throne sits the empress, a handsome woman in her early forties, though her face looks tired and careworn. She turns and gives you all a nod of acknowledgment. I do not care for ceremony or pretty words this day. There is much too much to worry about in my kingdom for petty formalities. So please, plainly and bluntly, tell me what it is you wish to see me about for I have little time for wasting and there is much I need to address. Her tone is polite and business like, though there is a weary tone in her voice that makes you think she has something troubling her.

'Being on the empress good side most certainly would interest my people and anyway those things can't be allowed to continue to cause pain to children. '

"Your Highness, had you not proposed it, I would have asked it myself.  After the horrid scene I had to witness, I couldn't stand idly, like nothing happened.  You can count on my support, as small as it might be."

Says Raknesh fiercely.

"I cannot turn a blind eye to this blight. My sword is yours for this threat." said the paladin as he bows to the empress.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

The empress smiles, a look of gratitude on her careworn face and she gives a nod. I shall not forget your kindness you four. You will be rewarded later. The gratitude of an empress is no small thing after all. I would ask that you leave as soon as you can and that you meet with my captain of the guard for instructions. I will inform him of your situation. In the meantime, is there anything that you require for your mission?

"A map of the area would be useful Your Highness and maybe some rations in case we need to stay out a couple of days."

"Also, if you have some trained pigeon or anything like that. We might need to send information quickly, and they would do it well."  Adds Raknesh.

"Good horses too, even if we probably won't use them much once we get close to the location."

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

The empress nods in agreement. It shall be done. I suggest you leave soon. My captain will make sure that the things you ask for are ready. Would you be able to go within the hour?

As she says these words you notice that Ezran looks quite frightened looking, though she's trying to hide it. Still, there is a firm resolution about her face that shows she is determined in her quest. No doubt it can't be easy to face such a terrifying enemy again. As you are preparing to leave, a tall lanky fellow enters in noiselessly by a side entrance. The empress greets him warmly. From the looks of him he is a half elf with dark hair and green eyes. His face is hard and chiseled, but not unkind. Somehow you feel a bit safer knowing you will be working with him. He eyes you with a polite curiosity and introduces himself. I am Loden. I hear you are going to be joining me on this hunt for these creatures. I trust you are all able, but please do not feel you must do this thing if you have any doubts about it. You can't help but wonder how he found out so quickly about these creatures. The empress must have some direct way of communicating with the man that you can't help but be curious about.

ooc: Yes, you are only 2 for this thread. I plan to merge you with the other ones soon though.

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

"I am a traveller by nature, and haven't much to take care of in the city before I can leave.  Let me send a message to the place I'm staying, with some money to ensure I still have the room and my belongings when we come back.

Once it is done, I am ready to go : I always carry what I really need."

'She certainly wants us gone quickly, I wonder if she knows, or fears, more than we suppose.  I did not see anything, any kind of signal or use of spell to communicate with the man, this is most interesting.'

Raknesh holds out his hand and adds

"It will be a pleasure working with you, even if it is under such dreadful circumstances. Be assured my mind is completely focused on our task."

Re: Chapter 1-Group1- The Spinning Wheel

Raknesh: The empress nods at your request but waves it away with a flick of her hand. No need to bother good sir. I will have someone take your things here and hold them for you until your return. You will also have a place to stay here for as long as you wish. Just let one of my  men know where you are staying please and it will be done immediately. She gives a kind smile.

Loden seems pleased by your answer and gives an approving nod. Let us be off then. I will meet you at the palace gates within the hour. Let me know if you require anything for the journy. Food and supplies are things you need not be concerned with. We will take care of it for you. Should you need anything else do not hesitate to ask.

ooc: Anyone going to do anything more here? I'm going to move to another chapter for you so you can finish up here if you want and then move on to the next one.
