Re: B Coach

Lucas thought it over for a moment.  There were several ideal points made from both gentlemen.

True, best to not argue, he said.  Show me what you need.  Never experienced that set of plays...at least not yet.

Re: B Coach

Mik  got   fired up, Right then!  Come  wit  us...

they went over to the bench  and  picked up the big dryearse board, Mik drew a few circles on it 4 om the  50....4 0n the dragon's 40..set up so they were spaced to cover any "holes  of the  4  up front.

The you would be here........ he drew  a  cricle on the dragons  20 in the middle of the field..  ...and we are here...  he drew  2 more  circles  on  the goal line aboubt even with the hash marks.

So?  when the  Ball comes   down..one of  us call it...if its  short, we both tell you to take  it...If one of us gets  it, we  head up  our  sideline, with the other  coming over, and you sliding to that ball's  side...if you get it..you go up the middle  an we run up and  flank you

Mik was  drawing arrows   on the board   as Klay spoke , to show Lucas  what he meant, then he added, of course?   if Adam is back, he  will be the only on back there..and one of us  we will be up with you to lead him upfiled...there  are also special return we have, but..they will go over that  in film study..

Re: B Coach

He ran with the recievers    and broke  down into the large rgoups, when the  O-line  was brought in...though he was  still set  split..he was still on the line.

Mik, Klay and Lucas also tok turns at lining up , slightly split on the left side of the O-line, so the   the  two wideouts could be a yard or so off the ball, making it harder  for the DBs  to bump them off the line.

Mik, Lucas  and Klay would also rotate as the BAck next to the QB.

The  wide reciers   parctice  the route  tree, with the  coaches  and  other  reciers  standing  as if the  were defesne, so the  reciers would have to read thier  routes

Re: B Coach

Lucas looked over the drawings on the board and how the line for ST would draw out and play on the field versus on the board.  He stood at it for a long time before they moved on field and actually played it out.

Out on the field, he played every move as if it was second nature to him.  Stealthy, quick, and well, maybe not so nearly flawless.  It was a new position to him.  One that would take some time to get use to, but to Lucas a definite point that he would be on the team after the cuts today.

He was not about to give up.  Not saying much Lucas spoke to himself in his mind only nodding or quickly answering when spoke to.  He would have to get with Adam and look over some of the videos for special teams so he can see how things work.

Fillings  galred  at Steele,..you did  good  kid, didn't  drop a ball   and  ran the routes like  a champ...

Bronk winked and added,We  have  enough b Big Ten Busts  here  already, don't  need more...you work like  you did in the tryout? You'll be at least  #3 ...maybe Push Stalls  for  #2...

Lined up at the 40  the Ofeense faced the endzone to  run thier  Plays.  off on the  sideline, Smokey  Punted footballs that were being shagged  by the kids who wwee being allowed to help as  ball boys. KAt would wait, amd then Smokey would spot  a few  for her to Kick...

Fillings stood in shotgun, Steele  standing there with his helmet have raised on his head.  The oline  was in 2 point stance except Miles  who was over the ball.  Adam was  spilt  wide, One yard off the ball...Stalls  was on the right side , one yard off too...Miks was on the line, split  two yards away from the Interior  line as a "te"...Ben was the same on the other  side...Lucas was  standing next to Fillings  as he called   routes at the line...

...................................

On the Defense, were lined up on the other 40 facing the Offense, with the coaches  and extra players  forming a  "scout team" offense"  The D-line was Up, except Kane  was lined up as   the LE will Julius was getting his shot as the NT...O-ball and  Miguel were on the outsides, Worth and Best the Safties, and Payne  was the MLB.

At point and in line ready for practice and to learn new routes, routines, and even his new position on special teams.  He had planned on getting with Adam later to go over videos and tips to help him along with this new venture.

Re: B Coach

Lewis  can be heard   yelling  at the Defense, making them  move  and pushing them hard...SPEED!...SPEED!...we  want SPEED!

The  DBs would take  turns Running  route s against  each other, the  D-Line was  taking turns  witht  blocking Dummies so the Linemen could practice  differant sklills to beat Blocks.

Linebackers  were Dropping into coverage and   then charging up  to  meet "ball Carriers."

.............................

On Offense  the    Wideouts  were running patterns  against   Dummies, the  QBs  popping  off  passes as  another Coach would  move a  Dummy here  and there.

The  Backs  practie   running  patterns to get the feel of  catching balls out of ther backfield.

It was not lost, on any one, That Steele would "over throw"  or "miss the read" when Bronk was the  open reciever.

To Bronk's credit he  would just shake his head  at the bad  pass, or  "misread"... Filligns , on the other  hand  would say, Cripes Steele!..what the hell?

Sims   would  shake his head  and Look over  to Yuto who  was in the  tower with a clipboard charting  the practice...

The  new  Guy, Willis  was  looking Good...at the moment it looked like   It would come   down to Stalls  and  Willis for the #2....

Re: B Coach

Julius got into the locker room a bit earlier then most to get his locker set up the way he liked it and found himself a corner to sit in. Taking time to get ready he slowly but carefully wrapped up his wrists and ankles. Then put on the rest of his equipment  and with his helmet next to him just sat and listened to the banter. With his sunglasses on and his long hair hanging down the back of his jersey. He just waits to be called out onto the field, or when the D-line heads out he fallows.

Once on the field Julius goes threw all the regular drills with everyone else, keeping up and getting loose waiting for something to happen. The defence gets called over to the north side of the field. Would this be his chance to stand out, to give his all and show what he had. Instructed to line up in the middle of the line, he internally got excited and pumped to have this opportunity. Pushing as hard as he can and putting everything he had into the drills, he seems to do well enough with all of the drills and makes the odd guess or two. Julius focuses on what takes place in front of him and continues to listen to instructions.

During  a (very) short break L:ewis gives them as he lights into  an Outside Linebacker  who blew his "coverage"

Kane  walks  over the  Julius. Tall but solid, he still has a bit of  a belly, but not near what he had in Minicamp. He looks at Julius and says,..you work that spot good..ya hear? That was my spot...supposed to be a hole plugger..then..someof these guys  stpped up..helped me out..got me to workin'  got  more  sloid..less fat...Now? they think i can Play DE..which is why they brought you in..i'm guessin'...you have  any problems..You ask..don't  try to be no hero  or nuthin/  we got  Payne, and Worth back there.. and i'll help ya out too...folks helped me...so's its  only fair..we gonna be a team...we should be a team...

Re: B Coach

Lucas stumbled a couple of times on the different plays on special teams, and even at times did ST plays on the offensive lines.  The coaches let him know it too.  He took the bench himself when it was opportune to just sit back and concentrate and let his brain unfreeze from this new offer and position.  He didn't want to blow it with this advantage.  It was a lot to take in, but he was fully accepting and ready for the challenge.

Just an off day he said aloud to himself.

Lucas gave an affirmative nod.

Yep, put a few full games under his belt, and I think he'll make the Offensive team proud.  I'll help where I can.  Just as I would for any one.

He took a drink himself and stood ready to head back out to the field.

Any news on when the cuts are going to take place?

Re: B Coach

Watching Kane approach Julius brushes himself off and then shakes his hand when he get up to him. He listens to what Kane has to say and nods a few times. ”Well thank you Kane for noticing me and offering to help. I would be very grateful if you had the time to show me what you know and help me. I need to  get faster. I know the position well it is all I have done in this game but there are a few things that would make life easier if I had a bit more speed.” Julius takes his helmet off to give his hair a chance to breath. Shakes it out a bit and then looks off to see if the break is almost over.

Re: B Coach

Julius can’t help but crack a smile and even laugh. ”ha ha I am not sure if I would be any good at that sort of thing but if nothing else I will stay with you after practice cause this I HAVE to see. Thanks Kane.” Trying to shake off the laughter and putting back on his helmet to get ready for the rest of practice. For some reasons things seems to go a bit better, as if there is a spring in his step. Julius can even be seen smiling and chuckling every now and again. Although he realizes the importance of foot work, watching Kane must of caused something in him to cheer up.

Re: B Coach

The Dragons were Pushed hard...recievers   yelled  at  for  cuts  missed, balls  dropped, QBs yelled at  for  Late  passes, High passes, low  passes..

On Defesne, The DBs  were pushed   as  hard as the recievers..Running , being  yelled  at for thier hips  being open too soon, or not  soon enough...nagged for not using thier hands  within the  5 yards..and  yelled at even louder  for using them  past the 5 yards.

Sims  Brought the  team together  He pointed to the Left Hash mark and said, defense  Line up there... then to the other  hashmark...Offense, over there...

he moved them  all down to  the Goal line,Alright...Tomorrow we will have a light practice  and scrimmage....Wedensday will be  meeting   and    shorts  and shirts  work out..Thursday..we  board the plane  for  Buffalo..we  will work out  Thursday Night  in thier stadium..Friday is the  GAme...Saturday after noon we will fly  back  In JAcksonville...

he  walked   back  and  forth a bit and stopped  when he  was in the Middle  of the  two lines, facing them  from the  5 yardline, the coaches  having had the Offence snake around to one side, the  Defense snake  around to the other..when we get to the regular season..we  will be running  our  Core plays  90% of the time...we will...indeed...come up with wrinkles, that fit our  offense, that will atttack a weakness in thier Defense...Coach Lewis will be  doing much the same...Because of this...meetings  and conditioning  will be stressed  during the season more then  just running plays  that we  should all know  by then....IF....you are working hard...and ...IF....you continue  to do so..you will see  a marked  differance   in the first game...our training  as opposed to  the Old School NFL training...we will, mostly likely..start off even  with every team we play...But the last 2  quarters  should be ours...

In that vein? We  are  going to have a contest now.... Yuto has  his boys  in the   booth, set to Time each player...the time? is for you to run the 100 yards to the  other  endzone...your  times  will be added together...so the  seconds  and Minutes will continue to  add up  until the last player  from each side crosses the line...The Losers? Run  one lap  around the field..the winners get to head to the locker room...now? it  may seem like  nothing....but you all have been pushed  and prodded..and most of you are tired...you will push yourself here..better then just running for the hell of it...

Kat?  Smokey?  You'er  running too..Kat..Ladies choice you want to run with the O  or the D..?

Lined up on the offensive's side lines he looks to Adam, arms crossed with a semi-weary look on his face.  IF anything, he actually looks guilty for the first time ever.

I think I gave the coaches ideas when I challenged you to a race, he said softly to Adam.

Lucas was breathing a bit less shallow than he had been, but todays practice was definitely being felt in his bones.
