Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

It's a separate game. Started with 9 players and now it's Marc and one other. RPoL attrition at it's best folks.  As for my HoE game Ian you are more than welcome to join. And I plan on getting going in the morning after I get home.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Tech. Sgt. Airen Crichton (msg #49):

Player attrition van be very disheartening as a GM. I find that many (some but not all) internet games that start with lots of players have a high rate of attrition.

In a couple games (including this one) I had all but a few players drop out. I decided that if needed, I would run a game with one person and make it the best damn game I could. Back in the old days, before the Internet, "solo" games weren't uncommon and smaller games do have a lot of advantages.

Is this game that needs active players DL: HoE? If so, I would consider switching from "Tales of the Reckoning" in order to lend a hand. TotR has a lot of players now and I would enjoy playing with Marc (which will happen either way, of course).

[Private to Tech. Sgt. Airen Crichton: You're kind of lucky, I've been allowing only a couple Arcane characters in this game and one slot came open when Arthur died. Mainly, this is to keep things a little even and not have the focus on the Arcane. Plus, I'm lazy and I didn't want to spend a massive amount of effort reading and memorising the rules and background for Arcane characters.]

Sadly, it is not (another HoE game would be unbelievably fantastic as would a DL Classic game). It is a Mechwarrior 3 game. And it would indeed be great to be playing with you in (an) additional game(s).

Marc,

Adam's HoE game should be close to getting off the ground. As well, there are other DL Classic games out there.

We used to play Battletech a lot in the mid-80's on weekends, was in a couple campaigns (I recall I named our drop ship the "David ben Gurion" and no one knew who he was) in the late 80's early 90's. I'll have to see if I can join another game, the HoE game might be my limit for now!

Tony,

no worries and no need to stretch yourself thin on my behalf.

As soon as I get the last 1250$ and 5 building points assigned;)

Don't remind me of the 90's. A great time for rpgs that was. Btw, I ranted a bit in Adam's game and I want you to know that it is not against anyone. it's just some observations that were adressed to you ;)

In reply to COL Kurt L. Schaeffer (msg #53):

Ha, that's fine for you to rant! Probably people want me to shut up by now. It's all kind of a matter of opinion anyways.

Funny to think we're practically from different generations, at least in gaming terms. My wife says when we have kids they will be 3rd generation gamers. After her father left the Army (Special Forces/RCAR, Van Doos) and worked different government jobs in corrections (prison/jailkeeper) and social services he went back to school in the 80's (SFU), where he played AD&D. He's now a professor of Criminology in Regina.

Tony,

that's very cool. Yeah, were of different generations, but we see eye to eye, I believe. And I like to listen to old-timers...

Alan,

welcome back. I actually used to play back when you were a player and I only came back a short time ago.

Your character was being written out when I came in.

That church sign is great. The little things always add a lot.

Thanks! I remembered seeing you could do stuff like that on the net, and Bob's your uncle. [Private to Peter Firecrow: Ian was supposed to follow up on the quote, which is not just from the Torah but also in a poem written by a Jewish resistance member before she was executed by the Nazis.]

quote:
"My Ladies love shields me"

Shields her from what? Does someone have a problem with Churches? No one is supposed to expect the Spanish Inquisition! Now you ruined it.

Roadkill doesnt like being told what to do so im guessing he has an issue with any organisation. It is his stubborn side.

Speaking of that. he would stay outside if the priest, mayor or the like said he can't smoke inside. Once pushed he can't help but push back.

Tony,

that's what happens if you let witches into your games and hit your players with phobias of crucifixes ;)

Apart from that, everyone's just roleplaying and the way I see it, there's been no offense intended all around nor any taken.

So lets game on.

In reply to COL Kurt L. Schaeffer (msg #63):

Don't worry, Ian and I are cool. We're just kidding around.

I'd say Rowan gets a White chip for RPing being uncomfortable about being a Witch in a Church. It's not really a Hindrance but good RP. (She's more into hiding being a Witch so actually going to church would be a better way of covering up!)

Roadkill: Power-Armour dude doesn't say anything, neither does the usher. If Roadkill lights up another inside the church, then he might be asked to leave or put it out. I'd say this RP is worth 2 White chips for Hindrances (Hankerin': Tobacco and Stubborn).

[Private to Roadkill: We can say that having made his point, he's not going to light another?]

Remember, everyone, you get chips for playing your Hindrances. I won't always catch that so please PM me if you think your RPing Hindrances is worth a chip!

Dang, I was assuming as no one was stopping him he'd go inside and then when done, not light another. That is, he proved his point and he's stopping smoking because he chooses to do so, not because he's asked.

Either way, that's fine! I'll edit my post and then we'll go from there.

Tony,

I know that, I was more worried about the rest of us. Naw, not really ;)
I just felt, I had to say it to make sure that there's no misunderstandings amongst us. Feel like I'm having some trouble to express my thoughts the right way latetly, so I've decided to be on the save side.

Good question. It's been a while. They were chafing at each other one time, I think, but no more that that. With Firecrow though, there was something of the Ferner Hindrance breaking through there. I seem to remember something about smoke signals;)

Anyway, the Colonel got his ashes hauled, so he's very laid back right now...

EDIT: And he likes Roadkill anyway ;)

That explains a lot of Ians lines. I was thinking there was a lot of research going on there.
I personally hate organised religion but also hate the whole anti religion thing too. I believe I am a "whateveran".
