Re: Question on sword

Posse,

I feel like an idiot, I realise that Jason asked you all to "chase" him in. That would mean coming from the Interstate, the same direction he and Trejo would be coming from. As he's the one who's neck is most on the line, you'd probably listen to him!

As well, the south is the best route for the truck, because rig could easily get bogged down coming in from the north as it's a dirt track.

Re: Question on sword

In reply to The Marshall (msg # 776):

Why is a dirt track shown as a road on the map? In sat view it is hardly there.

The truck has to follow them then. It is the only road for a truck and trailer.

Someone has to come from other direction though. Just not a truck

Re: Question on sword

In reply to Roadkill (msg # 777):

I suspect that one reason why the dirt track coming in from the north showed up as a road is that on old topographical maps of Skeleton Butte it's the only way up. The paved road is a recent addition (along with the housing) which wasn't there back in the 80's.

Mainly, I think it might be some kind of pattern-recognition error for Google Maps. In another game I'm running a Humvee chased a couple bikers into a park and the players didn't realise that the "roads" Google Maps showed were actually hiking trails. (The Humvee could probably still use them but not as quickly as a couple offroad bikes.)

The technical can probably make it up the track, slowed down due to a decade of neglect. This is Peter's call. Bikes could make it up but you'd need to decide this quickly. It's only about a 200 yard sprint up the roughest part. Schaeffer's not really in a position to support the rear approach.

Re: Question on sword

Nah. The plan is to "chase" the bikes in, and bikes would be coming on the paved road, so I think we should do that.

Groovy.

You could send a couple people up the rear way on Rowan's hoverbike. Barb the doomsayer volunteers! (I'm not saying Rowan needs to go, mind you.)

Re: Question on sword

In reply to Jason Sinclair (msg # 783):

There are lots of pros and cons.

Barb is willing to borrow Rowan's hoverbike and go it alone as she likes the idea of a flanking attack. Barb is also a Doomsayer with the "Flashblind" miracle, which could be very helpful in fighting Modeen. He can't actually be hurt by anything other than Aiken's sword but he can still be blinded, which helps.

Rowan is more familiar with the hoverbike. If the idea is to ride up and Flashblind Modeen then Barb should probably ride pillion as a passenger.

Posse,

Sorry if there was something of a delay, this is a climactic event and I wanted everyone to be comfortable that nothing was being overlooked. Thanks for your patience!

That said, I'll be able to post in-depth tomorrow.

Re: Question on sword

Hmm I'm at work so can't go back through posts very well. The plan was to give a little bit of time for the two "Templars" before we rushed in right? Or are we supposed to head up as SOON as they are there?

You all were supposed to delay a couple minutes after Jason/Trejo went in.

I've been waiting for Adam to post, as Jason's in the thick of it. He might be out of it (for logistical reasons?) so I might just go ahead without a post from him. Thanks for your patience!

vacation

I'm out on vacation after Friday (until the 26th).  I'll try to check everything once a day and more if I can but can't guarantee it.  If you want any rolls from me before going let me know.

Have fun on vacation! Check back when you can.

Might as well get a couple initiative rolls from you now! I can NPC Jane if you like.

Sorry for the spotty posting on my end, I've been very busy and tonight was my wife's birthday.
