In reply to Roadkill (msg #198):

Not a bad guess about Stone!

Near Wichita is as good a prepared community Roadkill or anyone's seen. Layered defences, trained militia, resident posse, even an air force. But when Stone come knocking...

If I have to face him, and if he does what I thin he is going to do Rowan will be hunting the bastard.

Nah the Rail gun that I am gonna build would do a heck of a lot more than a big fifty. But it is Stone so neither would be smart.

In reply to Tech. Sgt. Airen Crichton (msg #202):

Pretty much most weapons would just piss Stone off. He's part of the metaplot and effectively invulnerable!

Regarding traffic on the road, it occurs to me it would be standard to hail an approaching vehicle on the CB using Channel 19. Roadkill may or may not do this as a matter of course, but truckers usually would. (if only to pass along news, warnings, road conditions, requests for assistance, etc.). If Roadkill did use the CB he got no response from the Humvee.

Posse,

Sorry if this hasn't been made clear, I prefer all-OOC posts be put in the OOC thread. Making an IC post and then adding an OOC note to clarify is fine (even appreciated).

Again, my apologies.

I've been a bit distracted as well. Well, more that I am on holiday and I tend to be lazy.

In reply to COL Kurt L. Schaeffer (msg #210):

Marc,

All on the map, my good man.

Your direction of travel is west along Iron Mountain Rd. It turns into Horse Creek Rd. through the I-80 underpass.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms...pn=0.126533,0.184708

Also, I would imagine riding the BMW would be fairly pleasant. With an IBS and helmet there's no bugs in your teeth, you don't feel the wind, it's a stable platform. Could get hot out if there was sun but it's overcast.

I put Rowan and Schaeffer between the rig and the technical, if you want to be elsewhere, that's fine.

I think anyone should be able to edit the map?

Tony,

the position's fie nad so's the bike!
Shaeffer's driveing skill (Driving(Car)1) isn't!
He's a grunt. Airborne insertion's great but driving? And compared to the trailer's fighting position the bike isn't as stable as that.

It's about two klicks from the Truck to the scouts, correct?

In reply to COL Kurt L. Schaeffer (msg #212):

Raising Ridin' to level 2 and adding the Motorcycle concentration only costs 5 Bounty. Just sayin'.

I make it 4km from the I-80 underpass to the forward element, with 2km separation between them and convoy's main body. (Sorry, in other words, yes, 2km from scouts to truck.)

The terrain is really flat but there's obstructions to sight every few hundred metres.

I fuckin' hear ya.

3km = 2mi. So, 30kmh = 20mph.

We switched over to km from miles when I was a kid in the 70's but I still kind of think both in Metric and Imperial. Our speed gauges have both. Personal size and weight is still done primarily in Imperial. I remember being in an American deli and not being able to convert 250 grams to ounces. I eventually cupped my hands and said, "I'll take this much meat."

It's easy enough to covert using google. Google "convert X km to Y miles" for a quick conversion.

Yeah I know to mostly but wish I didn't have to as it seems like pointless knowledge to me.
My old "Datsun 180b" (Best car ever) was in mph as it was from 73 and the change over was in the 70s. I loved to get it up to 100mph on the country roads.

I just like to point out how insane it is that metric is not world wide, especially in the most advanced country in the world.

The only thing I can see as people not wanting is to use Celsius as it has the freezing of ice at 0 while kelvin has 0 as absolute 0.

Roadkill:

Really? Celsius freezes at 0, water boils at 100. 20 is warm and pleasant, -20 is balls-achingly cold.

The other common alternative is Fahrenheit, which has a freezing point of 32. The other common temperature points are equally arbitrary. I think the uses for Kelvin are clear enough when you'd be using it (for science and industry), and it's not like you can actually reach Absolute Zero.

Technical Tactics:

Roadkill's instructions (it's debatable who's in command but it's useful for one person to call the shots) for the technical are along the lines of what was originally proposed. That is, as the convoy's mobile heavy support vehicle so deploying it is sensible.

The technical is in the rear because most threats will come from the front so if the rig gets engaged or stopped, the technical is free to respond. Were other vehicles to join they would go in behind the technical, or maybe it would remain "tail end Charlie" so that the Ma-Deuce (.50-cal. M2HB) can cover the rear.

That's the theory, at least. This was the suggestion of a friend of the family's who went to military academy. He was sent to military academy because he had problems growing up, it didn't "take" and instead of entering the Forces he led a life of crime. I was casting about for something to talk about other than the fact he's gotten out of jail on a drugs charges. Great, some well-meaning parents gave a budding gangster military training, just fucking awesome.

At any rate, I'll give Richard (Trejo) until today to post, then we'll proceed. (Paul, kick Richard for me?)

Your general direction of travel is westward to Idaho, so if anything you're crossing I-25 and do not need to travel along it.

You can use Yellowstone Rd. to flank around to the north. It's only about a half mile (less than a km) from the Interstate so there's a risk of being seen.

Generally speaking, North is open ranchland with a some rolling hills, south is the suburbs and and ruins of Cheyenne.

[Private to Sgt. Ian Sullivan, Jane Guin, Trejo: I should clarify the renegade Black Hats (particularly Jane and Crichton) know that while it's technically possible to mount a radio watch and attempt RDF intercepts, it requires discipline and expertise far beyond the typical BH unit. So it's almost so rare as non-existent. Red Hats and automatons are another story!]
