Jane remained quiet, letting the others do the talking while she kept a look out.  She was sure nothing would interrupt them but then she hadn't counted on the last interruption either.

In reply to Fred Biletnikoff (msg # 350):

A lanky young dude dressed in denim jeans, leather vest and mesh trucker hat sauntered into the hotel dining room. It was Roadkill, friend and companion to the Posse, who left for a while due to problems with drinking. It looked like he was sober. But for how long?

"I think I could be persuaded to do a little high-ballin' if we're gonna go grease some biker asshole on behalf of a friend and Rowan's stolen hover-bike!

"My rig is outside, gassed up and ready to go. There's no need to take the full-sized semi-trailer, I can just haul a small fuel tank filled with enough Spook Juice to get us there and back, no problemo."

Smoker jumped up.

"Roadkill! How the hell are you, man?"

He lurched over to give his old friend a big hug.

Re: In the Junkyard II

From down the hall you hear a familiar thunk step pattern. As it gets closer it oddly enough gets quieter. Stopping altogether outside the door. After a pause a knock is heard and a robed figure enters. "I apologize for my tardiness. I was held up at gun point. Stupid scav thought he could get the drop on me. My pistol showed him otherwise."

Re: In the Junkyard II

In reply to Jane Guin (msg # 353):

"Hey, everyone. Jane! Yeah, I was fucked up. Almost killed my truck! Good news, she's all back together. And they fixed Gilles, the AI drive-bot! They managed to salvage his memory and personality core. Good as new!"

The junker-built AI that allowed the truck to drive itself completely autonomously had gotten wasted during the attack on Modeen's gang at Skeleton Butte in Idaho. Roadkill had been plenty bummed at losing his robotic friend and had started drinking heavily. It looks like he'd dried himself out in the past couple weeks.

"Jason, you son-of-a-gun! how you doing? Peter, Smoker... I don't see Rowan or the Colonel. Or Jason, that Texas Ranger SOB. And I mean that in a positive way." He nodded at Trask. "Howdy."

Re: In the Junkyard II

Unlike Smoker, Peter didn't run to Roadkill when the man showed up. He did look mildly surprised and pleased, however. He gave Roadkill a nod of greeting. "It is good to see you again." Uncomfortable pause. "Both Colonel Schaeffer and Jason have been injured, unfortunately. I believe they will both pull through, but I am not certain how long they will be in the hospital."

He gave a nod to Trask. "If you are planning on bringing your power armor, I am not certain you and the machine gun will both fit comfortably in the back of my truck, though you are of course welcome to ride with me and Jane."

Trask raises a hand in greeting to the new comer, he seemed to have friends so that was one tick. Turning to Peter he adds "I am happy to fit in where needed, though I have to pick up a new gun so some help in the market by you scavenger types would not go a miss and I would be grateful."

The trucker shrugged as if to say "maybe".

"Ain't too many places in the Wasted West I ain't been. And fucked some whore! But I don't recall it being anything special. Let's get goin'.

"I think I'll haul a van trailer, a 40-footer. Less suspicious that way and we can haul more fuel. Trask, there's 2 fighting positions on top, front and back of the trailer."

Outside was a rig, a Mack truck sleeper longnose with a van semi-trailer. Both were armoured, tractor more than the semi-trailer. There were 2 2-man fighting positions up top on the trailer. Each had a pintle mount with gunshield, the front armed with a 7.62mm SATO M260 SAW and the rear with an M2HB.

"Saddle up, Peter!"

Peter looked over at Trask. "How long do you need to get...'kitted up'?" It was obvious he understood what the phrase meant but it sounded unfamiliar to him as he spoke it.

He then glanced at Roadkill and nodded. He headed to get his technical ready to go and got in to the driver's seat when they were ready.

Chricton just shrugs and start walking toward the trailer. "If you need help with the suit just ask I used to run the Motor Pool for the the 1st Armored. Hovertanks to Wolverines fixed them all. Hey Jane how's things? Did you ever fix the spring on the receiver?" His robe blows open to show a hombre almost covered in pistols. He seems to have a rifle on his back in addition to the staff he carries.

In reply to Smoker Nix (msg # 364):

"Jane, I expect you'll be riding with your man in his technical."

"Smoker, I could really use a machinegunner on top of the trailer. Maybe man the front gun? It's an M260 SA SAW.

"Trask, you got a suit of power armour, right? Why don't you do me a solid and man the Ma-Deuce facing rear?

"Crichton, right? I remember you. Back a ways on the trail. From Near Wichita to Templar HQ in Boise! If Smoker mans the gun up top, mind giving him a hand?"

The Peterbilt (sorry, not Mack) truck cab was armoured with chicken-wire over the windows to keep the grenades and molotovs out. There was a roof hatch over the passenger seat, but no weapon mount there. The van trailer had two 2-man sandbag fighting positions (with barbed wire) front and back. Both pintle-mounted weapons on the trailer had gunshields but the van itself was unarmoured.

"Hey Chricton.  Me?  Fix something?  Have you forgotten that I blow things up and not fix things?"   Jane smiled at him as she said it.  She wasn't joking when she said she wasn't a fixer although she knew how to fix some small things.  She didn't bother answering the comment about her riding with Peter in the Technical but just started to follow Peter.  That was her spot.  Nobody was going to take it without her permission first.  So far none had asked so it wasn't a problem.  She liked it when there wasn't problems.

Chricton just smiles at Jane's comment and says "You and me should go after Throckmorten. I get us in and get killed doing it and you blow them up because you tried to put a new battery in a remote for the Factory. What do you say sound like fun?" You can tell by his tone he isn't the least bit serious.

When Roadkill mentions the fighting position he chuckles. "Yeah sounds about right."

Re: In the Junkyard II

Trask heads off to pick up his armor. He comes back and stands still going over his start up procedures and diagnostic, they are still running as he climbs onto the rig and familiarizes himself with the M2 and his fighting position.

He checks the movement within the position for his suit checking if he has enough room and won't hit anything or get snagged. Lastly Trask dials in the new members of the party into his sensors, changing them from red triangles to green squares.

Re: In the Junkyard II

Peter didn't smile or laugh, but he did look the slightest bit more relaxed. The group was bantering and they had something to do. Plus, he was about to be back in his truck once more, which was good. Very good. With Jane at his side, he figured he could take on what might be coming their way.

At least for now. His doubts and worries weren't all gone, of course. But for the moment he wasn't thinking about them.

A small smile graced his lips when the technical started up, the sound of the engine welcome.
