Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Because Diren didn't have any preference for where to have a meet with Mits, she chose her own place.  It's 2 story row house sandwiched between others of it's kind in with a neighborhood playground not too far away.  The first room to the left is a tiny dining room, ahead is a hallway leading to the living room, and to the right is a stairway leading up to the bedrooms.  Mits would have chosen the living room for big comfy couch reasons.  There's a TV on one side of the room along with tonns of video tapes and books on book shelves.  The back of the house has a curtained sliding glass door to the very small back yard that has a privacy fence on either side.  Given the many crosses, Jesus posters, and angel figurine decor, it gives one the impression that the Christian family just miiight be... oh... you know...  Christian.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Diren, having been living there, was sitting on said comfy couch, waiting for Mittens to start the interview.  Being bad at social interactions, he wouldnt start it off himself and would wait until Mittens was ready.  Also, the concept of God had been explained to him earlier for the first time.  He hadn't been exposed to Religeon before, as the Scientists were Atheists, and the De-Sky's never brought him to church(Fro his own safety).  He didn't really believe in it, as the presence of an omnipotent and benevolent being ruling over a world with such chaos and evil in it was inconcievable( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...&feature=related ) to him.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

((OOC: LOL!  Love that guy!  I often quote his "inconceivable" catch phrase. ))

Mittens isn't a preacher yet officially, but has plans on making that happen.  Maybe.  It'll be tough to squeeze in correspondence ordination between all the other junk she's got going.  But that's not the purpose of today's meeting with Diren, and she takes all the religious stuff around the house for granted, so she just gets right into what she wanted to talk about.

"So.  Let's talk disguises.  I'm thinking changing your hair color for starters.  Sunglasses or shaded visor with neckerchief over the nose and mouth.  Or just wear a motorcycle helmet.  You had any preferences?"

She takes out her netbook and starts booting it up.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

((OOC:  Me too.  The amount of times i use it is both Inconcievable! and OVER 9000!?))

"Sure for the hair, i dont care much about it.  I was thinking that i could get a metal that isnt sodium, like iron, gold, silver, or bronze - something that doesnt react to water, sweat, or saliva violently - and making a mask and weapons out of that.  Though im sure they will find me eventually, and im horrified by what they might do to me when they do..."  He does what he always does when nerveous and/or uncomfortable.  He plays with his metal, molding it using his hands as a guide for his powers.  He doesnt make any particular thing, and seems to be calmed when using his powers.  His eyes dim from the usual bright blue to a darkening grey, and he doesn't seem to notice.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Mittens has eye contact down to a science and notices the strange change in color.

"Well that's different..." she comments, "Your eyes went from blue to gray...."

She forces herself to stop staring and pulls up a web browser on her netbook.

"Metal helmet, huh?  Like this?"

"As for those nimrods on your tail... I've got an idea for that..."

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

"Oh yeah, they do that.  It happens when I use my powers; the more intense the gray, the more of my power I'm using.  And not really like that."  If Mittens let's him, he will take the laptop and look for a few minutes before finding something that matches his idea.

"More like this, but without covering the top or back of my head.  So what's your idea for getting rid of those guys?"  He says, putting away his metal.  His eyes then return to normal.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Mits of course let Diren surf the net with her little net surfboard.  She smirks at the picture he finds and nods in approval.

"I'd more likely get you the raw materials and you could make the mask to your liking," she says, knowing that an authentic metal mask like that would cost more than she's willing to shell out, "As for getting rid of your evil scientist problem: 'The art of war is deception' sayeth Sun Tzu.  I plan to bait them into a trap.  With the help of the FBI, of course.  They're experts in catching badguys.  I've already made a pitch, but since it'll likely be a while before they get back with me...  Mask.  Paticular to that color?  Or lemme ask that another way.  If i were to get you a sheet of metal so you could make your own mask, what kind of metal would you want it to be?  Aluminum?  Copper?  Don't say gold."

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

"Heh, gold would be nice but impractical.  More along the lines of iron, steel, copper etc.(he says the full word, but I can't spell it) for the mask.  If we ever get into the 'use of deadly weapons thing' I'd like to make myself a sword instead of a gun.  Maybe some knives too.  But we can deal with that later, if it ever comes up.  As for making the mask, I was going to suggest the same thing.  More affordable and completely customized.  Speaking of which, I could make sculptures with my powers and sell them to help make money for the team.  Whaddya think of that?"  Diren may not speak much, but when he does he speaks a lot.  He gives Mittens her com-pew-tah back.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Mittens nod-nods as she listens then lights up with a big smile at the mention of a sword.

"Swords..." she muses, "I've always been super fond of swords.  Probably because they symbolize heroism and justice in my mind.  I'd probably go with a sword myself if I could get away with it.  You can be sure I'll be pushing for the team to be allowed that kinda thing.  Heh... I'm rather fond of knives and guns too, to tell you the truth.  Though the fact that we're teens may be a big obstacle to that happening any time soon.

"I Like the money making idea.  We should make videos of you creating the sculptures as like a proof of authenticity.  So best you make your debut into the art scene after we've canned those evil scientists on your trail.

"As for raw materials...  I'm thinking copper.  If I can afford a bundle of copper roofing sheets that should get you started."

She starts fantasizing about the various swords, knives, shields, helmets, etc she can commission Diren to make.  She dreams of fusing modern technology with ancient aesthetics.  Like maybe making a kevlar helmet look more knightly by covering it in chrome.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

"Sounds good to me.  I doubt the FBI will catch them though.  They aren't stupid.  They move their headquarters every 5 years, so I couldn't show you where it is now.  They cover their tracks well and are extremely cautious.  Taking them down wouldn't be simple."  He looks a bit optimistic, but doesn't think any old trap will catch them.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Mittens nods gravely.

"I don't expect it to be,"
she answers, "I've heard it said that, 'Nothing worth doing is ever easy,' and it's certainly worthwhile to get these guys put behind bars before they do any more harm."

She clicks around on her netbook and finds a supplier.

"Ah here we go!  About $11 for a 20" square shingle.  Not too bad... if you're not building a whole roof with the stuff.  I've got a license so let's go pick it up now.  You'll need sunglasses, a hat, and a kerchief.  Be right back!"

She grabs the needed disguise for Diren and offers the mentioned items to him.

"To the catmobile!"

She snatches the car keys and her backpack.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Diren doesnt get the reference, and follows her.  He brings nothing but his metal, and of course the disguise he is now wearing.  He looks quite silly. As they near the car, he asks "So, where is this place we're getting the metal from?"

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

"260 Madison Ave # 16," Mittens answers, twirling the keys to her junker around her finger.  ( http://www.stillruns.com/gcc/junker.jpg )

"The passenger side doesn't work, so you have to get in from the driver's side," she says, "So ladies first doesn't apply if you want to ride shotgun."

Once Diren's inside, she insists he buckle up, then starts the reluctant and noisy engine.

The metal buckle buckles itself, and he says "Alrighty then, lets go." He yawns, then thinks of something.  "Maybe i could use my powers to get rid of the dents in your car?"

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

"That'd be fantastic!" Mits cheers, "Knock yourself out!  You're not gunna charge me, right?"

She's a pedal-to-the-metal kinda driver, but... in this car it doesn't really matter.  Zero to sixty in 10 minutes at full throttle.  The breaks make a metallic scraping sound, but at least they work well enough.  Before long the dynamic duo reach their destination.  Mittens leads the way with a spring in her step like she's in a big hurry.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Diren follows her easily, but not quite as flamboyantly. He was used to pshyical exercise due to having to hunt for himself for several years. He always thought it was strange that they had shops such as this, where you could get even the most rediculous of 'necessities'. "Charge you? I have power over metal, not electricity." He's completely serious.

Re: Chat with Diren at Mittens and Timothius' house

Mittens snickers at Diren's question.

"The word charge can also be used to mean 'to bill,' or 'to require money for services,'" she explains.

Once inside the guy behind the counter stares in surprise.

"Wo-hoah!" he says in a surfer accent, "Dude!  Like, you're like, that famous hero or something, right?  Radical!"

Mits grins and waves.
