Scene 3: Charity

Things were "calming down" from the last encounter. Investigators are getting a bit more serious about looking into the elemental business and see why it's going on or if there will be more in the future. PETA wound up protesting the protesters though at a cost. PETA is now visiting the police station often and for Emerald, Haalima, Mittens and Timothius, this is an inconvenience. Thankfully, PETA has learned to respect boundaries to some degree (Mittens can get VERY annoying when she wants to. And still seem like a friendly person).

The heroes are all rested up, feeling better, and generally recuperated from the battle with the dragon. The kid's suicidal tendencies really were strictly related to drug overdose. Between him, the rescued children and the criminal, it has all landed a LOT of cred for the Citizen Patrol heroes.

But today is different. Today, the group is in the middle of being taught the basics of police procedure (so they don't wind up with criminals who get off the hook for any reason) when in steps a young lady.

The lady has a light-brown tone to her skin, could be mistaken as black, Latino or Caucasian, depending on how she's dressed, lighting, and who is looking at her. She has black, loose wavy hair that goes about halfway down her back.  She has eyes that seem to be a powerful blue that can sometimes be mistaken as purple. The woman carries herself with an air of confidence. She's wearing a white business outfit (the kind with a skirt), red blouse, and is holding a palm pilot. She smiles and waits for the others to give her a chance to speak before saying, "Hello. I'm Angel Bard and I'm here to offer you a place you can call your own."

(Her general appearance, although this pic is old and is from the Gundam setting: http://timothius.deviantart.co...ery/?q=angel#/dbwb96 )

Emmy isn't sure at first. This is too good to be true and nothing good in life comes for free. There HAVE to be strings attached. But, she isn't the leader of this group. So she just puckers her lips in a silly thought posture before glancing at Mittens with a "what do you think" look to her face.

Timothius and Liberty both crack smiles, the young, naive kids that they are, and have hopeful looks on their faces.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

"Thank you for your support!," Mittens answers eagerly before switching to an apologetic smile, "That said, The Citizen Patrol has been swamped with offers.  Mostly from advertisers who want to give us 'free' stuff in exchange for sponsorship.  But our rep isn't for sale.  We will only consider advocating charitable organizations, and will accept only anonymous, and so far not even tax-deductible, donations.  Some pro-bono lawyer told me that this form will protect us from unexpected strings attached to donations."

She offers a donation form to Angel.

"That said, my name is Mittens, and this is Detective Bagrowski, Diren, Emerald, Haalima, Joe, Liberty, Sarah, and Timothius.  Nice to meet ya!  May I ask more detail about what you're offering?"

Re: Scene 3: Charity

"I will admit that while the room isn't exactly large, we are surrounded by Police Officers when we're here." A detail that had already helped prevent direct angry mob firebombing.  As well as more enthusiastic happy fan insanity.  "I will admit temptation if there is a giant combining robot involved.  Maybe a lack of concealed security devices."  Not that they were exactly in private at the Police Station, but there was less likelihood of their less politically correct rambling or bathroom trips recorded.

OOC Style: *Dramapoints at Angel* You taped your own family in the shower!...  Wait, that was a different Angel Bard in a different setting.  I'm sure this one is completely trustworthy!

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah had been paying more attention to the ceiling than to the lecture about police procedures. She had rolled about 25 cigarettes that were displayed as a little pile on the table in front of her, and though she had almost fallen asleep twice she did manage to let everyone finish talking without making one remark. ‘A thing to be proud of’ Sarah thought as she did a good stretch.

The first thing that came to mind when Miss Bard offered a place was ‘But I got a place of my own…?’ But it soon became apparent the lady meant for the Citizens Patrol and not a place for everyone individually. So she decided it might be best for her to keep her mouth shut for a bit longer. She raised her hand a little as a greeting when Mittens did the introduction.

Once Joe had added his demands to the discussion Sarah leaned back into her chair and decides to join the conversation with a few ideas of her own. “Well… we could use a place to train. A place to rehearse would be nice, as would be a place to get together and plan something against dragons and stuff. Should I make a list?” than she turns her head to Joe and smirks as she says “don’t worry Joe, I’ll add the giant robot as priority number one.”

Haalima looked shy when her name was said, and waved her clawed fingers just a bit. As usual, she was never quite sure how people would react to her. Though she didn't know why she cared. Obviously this person would be familiar enough with them to know what they all looked like and wouldn't be shocked by her. Still, the fear was there.

Along with the fear of PETA showing up again. She loved her fluffy animals, but boy did PETA scare the beegeezies out of here. She shuddered just thinking about them.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Angel is smiling the entire time, a hand on a hip as she listens. She idly thumbs at Sarah when Sarah answers for her what Joe was inquiring. "Think of it this way, Joe, Firefighters have Firestations. Doctors have Hospitals. The police have this place. And you will have your own. You may work alongside the cops like Firemen and Doctors do, but make no mistake, you are not police."

She then looks at Mittens and chuckles. She hands Mittens a different piece of paper while looking at the donation form like it's cute. "You know the old saying. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I understand your reaction, but the fact is I'm not here because I want fame or popularity. Frankly, I already have that. I'm here because you all are heroes and I want to show support. Simple as that."

The paper Angel handed Mittens describes details in legalese about Angel's offer. Which is, simply put, that she is handing over use of a medium sized building (about the size of the police station, so obviously bigger than the SINGLE ROOM the group has had so far). The building is owned by both Angel and the Police (who have already signed) and will be co-owned by the Supergroup if their "responsible party" signs on the paper.

"Take it or leave it." she says, "But either way, I'm here to say in person; thanks for saving the city."

Angel then glances around at the heroes and then back to Mittens. "But line forming or not, beware of becoming callous. Just because a bunch of stuffy-nosed business executives want to try taking advantage of you doesn't mean you should think of gifts or praise as a bad thing."

Tim isn't even paying that much attention to the grown-ups talking at this point and goes to play a connect-the-dots game with Cell. Though when he hears Sarah speaking up about putting a giant robot as top priority, his interest goes right back to the adults' conversation. He gives Sarah and Joe a "huh?" look.

Liberty hurries over to Mittens to curiously examine the paper. "On the surface, my knee-jerk reaction is to agree with you, Joe. But being in a police station didn't stop protesters from showing up. And it certainly won't stop flaming dragons from attacking. So... what difference does it make? Beside having more room like Sarah suggested?"

Mittens figures from the lady's smile that she wasn't put off by the form and scans the agreement.  She raises an eyebrow that the police already signed, but...  well she's not that surprised.

"Again, thanks," she answers, turning to the group, "Quick break while I fax this to Law Guy!  Whoosh!"

Just before she exits, she turns to face Sarah and Joe.

"Dibs on the black lion robot!"

She then waves her cell phone at her bro and speed dials him before exiting the room.

Emerald also goes to curiously read the legalese papers and listens to what is said. But she says nothing for now, curious how the 16-year-old cat girl will handle things. Emmy has definitely noticed Halimaa's shy nature and will want to help the girl be a little more bold in the future. But so far, seems the tigerhorse has a halfway decent outlet with dancing. Hmm... that reminds her... Emerald goes to Halimaa and asks in a hushed tone so as not to disturb Mittens' conversation, "So Halimaa... I wanted to get with you about teaching me some dance moves. When would be good?"

Sarah chuckles as she sees the surprises look on Timothius face. Concluding that confusing Tim is much more fun than a deep discussion about what place would suit the Citizens patrol best, she decides to go with the flow. “were gettig a new police station that can turn itself into several robots Tim. Seems your sis just claimed the coolest one, and I’m claiming the red ox so you'd better be quick if you want a good one.” Sarah says on an optimistic tone after Mittens calls dibs on the black robot. It's getting harder for her to not burst into laughter but she manages to hold it in for the sake of seeing Tim's reaction.

About the money thing.  I was thinking, and I told Mitts already, that I could make stuff out of metal and sell it.  I mean, we can't just fully rely on donations, can we?  On an unrelated note, I think we should maybe possibly get permits for some form of weaponry.  I was thinking along the lines of swords and such that I could make.  I mean, from the few days I've been here we've already had to fight a dragon, and it probably doesn't get easier than this.". Re: Scene 3: Charity

The sound of steps was echoing from a corridor that leads to the room. Out came a man, escorted by two police officers  from each side. The man was quite tall and masculine, about 25 years old, hasn't shaved for a week or so. He wore dark blue jeans and a halfway buttoned shirt and a t-shirt underneath. The man’s hands we're handcuffed behind his back, he seemed quite annoyed but he was lightly smiling with a corner of his lip. The policemen escorted him in front of the group.
"Hello there"
 He slightly chuckled,
"My name is Edward. Edward Shepard. I would shake you're hand, but as you see I'm in a bind here"
Edward turned around exposing his cuffed hands, which we're quite odd. On his back of the hand there we're bones showing about 2 inches. Those we're thick bone claws. Pulled in enough to be less visible, but not fully, because it would cause bleeding.
He kindly smiled as he started to talk again
"Well, I have a proposition to you. You can help me, by helping me to help you, ain’t that a mouth full"
He giggled, but then is face got quite serious.
"Well, either I join you, or go to jail. I got into custody on helpin' a man that was attacked  by a group of punks, but i roughed 'em up a bit to much. They're alive and well. But apparently I'm supposed to stand by while BS like this happens."
He turned to one of the police officers with a  stone cold look on his face.
"We'll, so what will it be?"

Enter Edward. Timothius responds to Edward's commentary about being arrested for helping people, "Sounds familiar..." as he remembers Sarah entering almost exactly the same way. Though he doesn't mention her name or even look at her as he doesn't want to embarrass the lady. Then looks at the cops. "Actually, Mittens put Ms Haynsworth and Ms Backers in charge of allowing people in the group." He points to Emerald and Sarah respectively as he mentions their names. "Though she's on the phone if you insist on talking to her about it."

As she sees Timothius surprised gaze from the promise of a morphing robot she bursts into laughter. “Aw…you’re too cute to deceive.” she says once the laughter subsides. Sarah bends over and tries to pet Timothius head until the new arrival walks in an escort. (OOC: Tim might dodge but she will keep trying.)

She clears her throat and tries to put up a serious face. As the man keeps it short and to the point she was able to listen to it without getting distracted. “Yeah, I know what that’s like.” The large one eyed redhead replies to Edward as he finishes. “I guess they don’t have much else to do than pick up people who ‘Might’ be a problem.” she adds sarcastically wile giving one of the officers a rather dirty look.

Once she gets mentioned by Tim a large smirk comes on her face. Sarah waits until Emerald and Timothius have spoken. “M, are we gonna interrogate him here or are we gonna move to a different room?” She asks Emerald and Than briefly turns her attention back to Timothius. “And would you stop calling me that? Ms Backers sounds so formal.”

"The choice is yours, I told you my side of the story, but you obviously have trouble believing me because I'm brought to you cuffed. And that ain't somethin' you want on you're first impression. If you want we can proceed to interrogate me, or take a leap of faith. I respect you're decision whatever it might be."
He smiled with the corner of his lip, trying to avoid eye contact, not because he was lying, even if he did he could stare a person right in the eye and not Even flinch, but having you're future and freedom in someone else's hands is not the most confident feeling.

She waits, watching the cop leave before looking at Edward. "Lighten up, kiddo." says the 3 foot tall fox to the burly Wolverine guy. "You're among friends." she un-cuffs him. She'll be sure to ask the officer how she can get a hold of her very own metal cuffs with keys. She already knows, but it'll be fun to watch a cop either amused or embarrassed. As it stands, though the Citizen Patrol has been equipped with zip ties for a quick citizen's arrest.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

She nods to Emerald when she tells her the talk will be in this room. Sarah had hoped to take the conversation outside but luckily Timothius had somewhat solved her problem. Of all the powers of the people Sarah recently met she liked Tim’s ability best. It was kind of like a ‘healing feel good touch’ and it almost makes her forget she wants to smoke…almost. She smiles back at the short furry kid and replies “Most people just call me Sarah or Red ya know… though I’m open to suggestions if they don’t include Ms. at the beginning.”

Sarah chuckles as she sees Emerald messing with an officer again. “Don’t worry M, I got it, just be back soon or the ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine is gonna fail” than she turns her head towards Edward and says “Erm…Edward was it? Come, take a seat, I’ll have this pile cleaned up in no time.” She takes her seat again and plucks one of the cigarettes off the heap that she made earlier today. She than placed the cigarette behind her ear and pulls an empty bag of tobacco from her coat that she fills with the rest.

In the way she sits it's safe to say she probably doesn’t wear a skirt too often. She had rested both her feet on the edge of the table and had bent her upper body between her legs to reach the cigarettes.  “Ya want a cup a coffee Ed? You look like you could use a cup. Mind if I call you Ed? I’ll inform ya about the details of the group later, but we’re first gonna talk a bit about you.” The one eyed redhead said with what seemed like one breath. First impressions had never been one of Sarah’s greater concerns. As a matter of fact she rarely cared what most people thought of her. She did however take much joy in the job they assigned her, and she would do it to the best of her abilities.

After Emerald left he turned to Sarah, slightly confused. Wether he should give her a smile, or stay stone cold as her. She was quite a charming lady, besides the eye-patch thing.
Edward decided to try to smile at her, receiving a mouthfull of words.
He sat down on a chair in front of her.
„Aahh , yes please. I would love me some coffee.“
Seeing her pack all those cigarettes away he wondered how is she still breathing, assuming she smokes that amount per day. A bit suprised he got a tad bit more serious.
„Yes, sure. We can talk. What about?“
He raised his eye-brow expecting a interogation without the torture.
'Shouldn't try to say somethin' that they ain't need to hear. First impressions and all.'
Shepard thought to himself.

"Or perhaps risking death by electrocution to defeat a raging monster?"

She indicates Joe.

"Or jumping into a burning care to save a mother and her baby?"

She indicates Liberty.

"Whom do you admire?  Whom would you call a good guy?"

Re: Scene 3: Charity

„Hello Miss... Uhh.. Mittens“
He smiles, not really knowing how to address her. Shepard offered his right hand for a handshake to her.
„Please, no „Mr.“ Feels really too formal. Please, its just Shepard, or Eddy.“
Edward was so hungry he couldn't take his eyes of the PBJ's.
„Umm... PBJ's would be just awesome, haven't had those in years. I don't go to charities, the biggest test of my bravery was takin' a bullet for some man that was attacked by a bunch of punks.“
He wondered for a second on how to set his words.
„I'm pretty sure I can call them good guys for that. Most of the situations I'm in don't end well for one party. I have never killed a man, but often times I have to defend myself. I've gotten' to the point where I don't even try just to disarm, those people, or just scum who's living is thieving, killing or harassing. I developed a certain... Spite towards them. I don't much believe that people can change. Some can. But most remain“
Shepard got very serious. He seemed almost like a wise old man sitting there, carefully picking his words.
„And that is definitely not a part of being good. I can't see the good in everyone. For those people to be redeemed they have  along way ahead. And me to, for hurting them. Even tho someone had to knock some sense into them“
'Wow, this got real deep' Shepard couldn't help but think to himself. 'If I will fight on the same side of the barricade as them, might as well try to clear the doubt in them by being honest'.

Timothius mews at Sarah. "What if I nickname you honey? It's sticky and fits your power..." he says with a light smile. "Gluegun... He just looks at Mittens and nods with a smile, not even having to say anything as he thumbs at Edward.

Emerald definitely gave Mittens a high-five in passing. She soon arrives from her little run and says, "So we eating out or ordering in?" she smiles brightly, swishing her tail as she looks about and notices Timothius and Liberty both seem to be positive about this Edward guy already. Emerald looks at Sarah. The irony of Emerald nicknaming Sarah "red" would be pretty high. She hasn't decided yet, though.

"To be fair, I was pretty sure I wouldn't die."  Of course, such a saying would likely be something many a Darwin Award winner would say had they survived.  Joe was also wondering which direction on the fuzzy types to not fuzzy types ratio Edward put them at considering he looked a touch like classic wolfman due to shaving deprivation.

Nicknames time!  Winner for 'fitting yet too annoying to mention' Sarah nickname is, Slow.  Her power does such, and it gives a valid excuse to say 'She's Slow' all the time.  Shortly followed by getting defenestrated by Sarah... Hmm, tempting considering it probably wouldn't hospitalize him.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

“Mits is right, this aint really an interrogation, but its kinda required to get to know ya” She sais while she puts her feet back on the ground, than smirks while Mittens offers the sandwich and almost naturally gets the man to talk. Sarah gets distracted (as She does ever so often) by a mewing Tim who had come up with the cutest little nicknames.

“Honey eh? Might be a bit too sweet for my taste” She smiles at Timothius and continues “Now Stayput has a nice ring to it, still a bit long though but it’s nice to see your making an effort.” ‘Its been a good distraction from life as she knew’ Sarah thinks as she sees Tim doing his best to think up a fitting name. Everyone in this group has always been good to her…or at least never judged her for who she was.

Than when Edward had said his piece she turns her head to him with a grin and says “yeah, I know what ya mean. I’ve had my share of idiots crossing my way and most of em still regret it. Lucky for us it don’t take a hero to do some good.” To some surprise Sarah had been listening to what Edward had been saying. She gets out of her chair and takes a look around at the group as she continues. “Now I figure M is gonna want a say in this but  I think ya passed the initiation. Most of the group seems glad with your arrival and we sure could use a hand.” She scratches the back of her head and turns to Mittens. So Mits, can you do the introduction talk? About us and what we do and why ‘n stuff. I still owe the man a cup a coffee… So anyone else want something to drink? I’m only gonna ask once ya know.” She looks around for a second time to see if anyone wants something.

OOC: Lol, Slow wouldn’t be such a bad nickname for Sarah. ^^ and though she’d probably punch you for it I think your safe from hospitalization… unless your going to make a lot of pirate jokes. :P

Mittens scoops up one of the ziplock bagged PBJ sandwitches and tosses it at Edward like a ninja star!  "WACHA!" she karate-calls, "Secret flying PBJ technique!"

She then double points at the coffee machine.

"Super secret home-brew coffee hot and ready to go!"

"But since we're on the topic of names, no need to call me 'Miss' Mittens.  Rather, you can call me by my new superhero name: PALADIN!"

She proudly displays a picture of herself on the cover of a magazine fighting a fire dragon!

"We should totally get ourselves hero names!  Sarah could be Stop Sign because she's red and stops villains in their tracks!  Joe could be 'N The Ninja!'  Haalima could be Dance Goddess!  Liberty: Tank!  Timothiu: Angel... but we've got an Angel in the room, so that'd be confusing.  Hmm...

"Oh!  Right!  Sarah asked me to give the pitch.  Ok here goes.  The Citizen Patrol is a non-profit organization who's purpose is to assist the city's existing emergency forces, namely the police, fire protection, paramedics, etc as best we can with our unique abilities.  Membership is open to persons of all backgrounds, be they guy or gal, young or seasoned, human or otherwise.  Willingness to give of yourself to help others is all that is needed to join.  (That and passing the two red-haired girls' scrutiny.)

"That said, we do have a secondary goal of providing a place where 'biologically different persons' can safely aid their community with their abilities without having to worry about working outside the law while doing so.

"As for meal options, I suggest we go to this place Angel is offering and eat there."

She had spaced out a bit, and though she had heard what was said she wasn't really listening. "Dance Goddess," she mumbled under her breath, "that's a terrible superhero name..."

The huge horse girl's ears perked forward at the mention, again, of PB&J sandwiches. "Oooo," she said as she got up from her seat and leaned forward. "Can I have one? Are they strawberry jelly? I haven't had a PB&J since I was a kid!" She had a look of child-like wonder on her face. PB&J was something her father had always made her when she was little, so they held good memories for her.

Mittens blows up on her hair, eye-rolls, and shrugs at Liberty's commentary.  And her lack of commentary on the name "Tank."  Haalima, Edward, and Joe too all seem to either reject or joke about her ideas.  ;.;  Oh well.  It's for the best she didn't think of anything for Diren then.

"Diren's been staying with Timothius and myself," she answers, "If we were to have a full-time building of our own, having at least one person there full time probably could be a good thing... if he wanted a change of scenery.  Thanks for offering him a taste, Haalima.  Thoughtful and practical.  Less waste if he doesn't like it.

"Since we're being practical, let's make a grocery store stop on the way to the new place and pick up what we're hungry for there rather than order food.  Much more affordable that way.  The coffee maker isn't police station property.  It's my own, so I'll be taking that with.

"As for Edward's release...  Assuming Emerald doesn't give a thumbs-down, I'll just sign the release form like I did for Sarah.  I'm glad you're liking the group so far, Edward.  I think it's safe to say that we're liking you so far.

"Once Emmy gives the go-ahead, please lead the way, Angel."

She packs up the coffee maker and such into the cooler she brought them in, and within moments is ready to go!

Emerald huhs? "Once I give the go-ahead? Sure. Let's go."

Liberty is seen mulling over something. "Tank..." she says quietly with a small smile. Wouldn't take much for Mittens to notice.

Let's skip all the parts that slow down the skit, shall we?

The group shops, gets food at the grocery store, and by the time they get to the place Angel has for them, most of them are hungry again. Emerald gets to preppin' the food. Unless someone else happens to insist on doing it instead, that is. Though she readily accepts help in the kitchen, regardless.

Image of our new place:
http://www.well.com/~wolfy/NE-...4-2003-0927-1329.jpg

Description of the place:
The place is actually beach-side (as opposed to lake-side) and rather homely. The rooms feel like bedrooms, looking much like some kind of summer home or something. There is an entertainment room that has a pool table, a home theater system, and even... a bar? The entertainment "room" is actually the entire second floor. The bedrooms are on the top floor. The bottom floor is much more like a living room and such, complete with fireplace. It has its own TV and, well, it's where the kitchen is. One of the fancier things about the place, besides the nice view, is the fact the kitchen has a "bottle elevator" for sending food, bottles of beer, etc up to the second floor.

"Woah... This place is awesome!  I've never been in a house like this before, but since i've only been inside like 3 different actual houses, that doesn't count for much." Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah raised an eyebrow as Mittens mentions it’s her coffee machine. Though the coffee did taste too good to be the police station standard brand she hadn’t expected it to be hers. A couple of cigarettes later Sarah gladly helps out with shopping since she had to do a little shopping of her own anyway.

<Arriving at new place>

When they enter Sarah couldn’t help but be amazed. On the outside it looked pretty nice but she hadn’t expected it to be completely furnished. “Woah is right kid.” She says as Diren exclaims his amazement. “This must be every waxhead’s dream house.” She was starting to wonder just how much money Miss Bard got, since she can just give away a place like this without anything in return. With this in mind Sarah walks to the kitchen and starts packing the refrigerator with the groceries and drinks. As she sees Emerald getting ready to start cooking Sarah figures she could lend a hand. “So what are we making M?” Sarah asks while putting on an Apron.

“Umm, guys? We're gonna live here? When do we get to bring our stuff?”
Edward was just plainly amazed by the house. He was so used to living in small one room studio apartments on blow up mattresses. Wondering about how is his guitar and liqueur cabinet.
“Eh, Red? Mind if I call you that?”
Shepard smiled, so he won't seem rude calling her that.
“Mind sharing some smokes? This is a hell of a lot to take in.”

Re: Scene 3: Charity

She wanted to reply that she didn’t mind at all, since she suggested the nickname herself. But when Emerald spoke Sarah came to a sudden realisation. Namely, the nickname she had gotten used to over the years might get a little confusing in present company. She hadn’t given it much thought before, since she had gotten so used to the name she didn’t even link it to the colour anymore. As an automated reaction to the clumsy situation She got herself into, Sarah rubbed her neck and replied to Emerald with an awkward smile: “Yeah…maybe Red is gonna get confusing. I had gotten so used to the name that I kinda overlooked that the name might fit you better than me.” While thinking: ‘Doh… I’m such an idiot. I coulda known it would cause confusion if I had thought about it. Stupid, stupid me.’

As Emerald explained what she was going to make Sarah replied: "oh, home made Pizza, sounds nice. I’ll be back in about five minutes and than I’ll try to help ya out with making the munchies. But first things first.” She turned her head towards Edward and the awkward smile turned to a somewhat sly grin. “The nice gentleman asked me for a smoke and I aint gonna refuse that.” She motions to the door as she pulls out the already half empty bag of pre-rolled tobacco while saying “You’ll get used to the wackiness and stuff Eddy. Now let’s see if this little palace got a nice garden to match.”

She had heard mittens say something about smoke detectors and guessed that it might be best to smoke outside. Besides, the fresh air out there could use a little smog Sarah thought.

But if you want a tip or two, I can tell you third-hand some tips I've heard. Otherwise, you might wanna get a book on the topic. But I understand most people agree that taking your time and making sure you are holding the stick correctly are the two major parts that will help you get a ball to go where you want it."

Angel looks at Haalima. "Would-be? You already ARE a hero, Haalima. You and a good number of your friends here." she smiles. Then looks at Mittens and says, "And now that you have fallen for my evil plot by taking this trap, I mean donation, you will be my slaves, I mean friends for a long time to come.   Joe would assume part of why Emerald never played pool too much would be the fact the table is roughly as tall as she is.  He would also assume many of her successful shots involved people seeing the adorable fox's eyes peeking over the table edge, going Daaaaaaw, and titling the pool table so the ball goes in the hole for her.

Hey, if it works it works.  Even it's only wild speculation.

Joe looks over to Angel and says "So how did you get this building in the first place?  I sorta doubt you had it built for our benefit over the weekend.  Though I wouldn't be surprised if you just bought the place from someone who couldn't afford it anymore."  In regards to Edward he shrugs, "Maybe something less alcoholic more carbonated later.  I'm also wondering it the kitchen size is up to the standards of the rest of this place or if its going to get very crowded with all the pizza help."

After finally being able to sit down with his parents for a short time, Cell explained to them that he was going to join a Super Group with special powers like himself. His parents gave him a totally different reaction than he thought he was going to get from them. As far as he could tell his parents were kind of happy for him for making new friends and proud of him for doing something good for the world. He finally did get their approval for joining so he ran to his room excitedly to call mittens.

Cell flopped onto his bed and quickly  dialed mittens, Cell waited for mittens to answer and when she finally and he heard her voice he quickly says

"Hey mitts guess what! , I'm ready !"

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah nods to Emerald, thinking she’s probably right about the nicknames, than replies to the comment about her calling Emerald M while they go to the pool room. “Well, M is the Alias of the most Level-headed comic superhero I know. Always knew how to keep her cool ya know." She scraches the back of her head while looking at the small fox lady. "You reminded me of her when we met and the name kinda stuck.”

Once arrived Sarah watches Diren's first attempts at playing pool as she listens to Miss Bard. She can’t help but chuckles once Angel starts talking about her evil plans. The lady is either completely insane or she likes to tease, either way would be fun Sarah thought. Than Edward offers something to drink and Sarah notices the bar. A wide smile appears on her face. ‘Who ever thought a hero hideout needed a bar deserves a hug.’ “yeah, Pour me a double of what your having Eddy”

Her attention shifts when Liberty makes her plea. “Don’t worry Lib, I prefer smoking outside anyhow.” She answers, which wasn’t true but seeing the girl’s reaction she didn’t want to make a big thing out of it. Having survived being in an exploding car is pretty insane so Sarah could imagine you could get a phobia or two that way. “I’ll be on the balcony if ya need me.” Sarah said while she walked over to one of the doors closest to a window, hoping to end up on a balcony.

(OOC: Got to love Joe’s imagination powers. XD The image of Emerald playing pool's now stuck in my head. >.< so cute.

Mittens snickers at Angel's sarcastic confession and gives her a big grin.

"Not to rain on the adult's parades or anything," Mittens chimes in, "But if this place has alcohol, that needs to be remedied.  Much as it'd be fun to turn this place into a social club for grown-ups, the Citizen Patrol mirrors and supports the heroes of this city.  Who even though it may be technically legal by age to have alcohol in their firehouses, hospitals, and police stations they do not.  And for good reason.

"Thank you for giving Haalima her due praise as a hero, Angel.  And I appreciate your sarcasm.  You remind me of me!"

She gives a side-hug to her lil bro and nods before answering her cell.

"It's Cell!  On my cell!  Good to hear!  And some good news for you... we've got ourselves a base!  It's realy cool, you gotta see it!"

"By the way this kind of off topic but hows libbbbberitttttyyyyy?"

Cell felt his face begin to get hot, he looked to his mirror and his face was beat red, feeling slightly embarrassed for stuttering on liberty's name. “Don't worry Mittens, I ain't gonna let Diren drink, that’s for sure. And its not like we're gonna drink constantly. A drink every few hours maybe. Or even less.”
Edward sticks his tongue out. And looks over To Liberty.
“Relax, Mitts. Erm, its not actually smoke, its nicotine I think. Mostly at least. And I do believe the movement of hand to mouth, not the smoke is what relives stress. And sure, I'muh join Sarah in the balcony”
Shepard walks over to the balcony handing one glass to Sarah, open the door for Sarah, and closed it behind his back. He starts going thru his pockets looking for a lighter.
“Ahh, there we go.”

Angel answers Joe, "Actually, I had it built for *me* a while back as one of my homes away from home. Its design and location are all things I dreamed of. But when I started hearing about you guys, I wanted to share that relaxing theme with you all. Heroes should be in an environment that takes a break from their otherwise stressful day... So yeah. I designed the place, you could say."

Angel doesn't want to interrupt Mittens' phone conversation. She read all their files, so she knows who Cell is. Instead, the lady goes outside to join Sarah and Ed on the balcony. Angel doesn't know much of anything about Ed thanks to him being new. She leans her elbows on the railing of the balcony while facing the building so as to also face Sarah and Ed.

"Sadly, Mittens is right about the alcoholic stuff. But I figured it would be a nice welcome if I left that stuff there for now. The place does technically still belong to me by enough of a legal margin to allow me to keep the drinks here instead of having to move it all elsewhere. That said, though, now that Mittens has made her point about those drinks, maybe after the initial relaxing and getting to know this place, you all can replace the drinks with something anyone can have like juices, but keep the pub theme I designed in that pool room."

Angel glances from Ed to Sarah. At 6' 4", Ed is big for a man, but Sarah is just as tall, making the gal truly an amazon. Angel can't help but be impressed by the two overly tall types turning out heroic despite the trouble they get in. Then again, Haalima fits the "gentle giant" profile, being a whopping 7 feet tall yet shy and reserved. Angel is still amazed at how she can look at 6' 4" on a file about someone, but seeing that height in person is a whole other experience. Just like it's one thing to see pictures of a winged kitten, a small fox, and a tigerhorse, and a whole other thing to see them in person. But for now, she doesn't say anything about that, satisfied she has kept her cool so well that she looked like all this was natural to her.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

On her way to the balcony she wonders what Mittens will be planning to do with the bar since it isn’t going to be used. Sarah gives the bar a second glance and figures it’s a little too big for her apartment. She puts the thought away as she takes the drink Edward handed to her and than comments on his actions. “you really are a gentleman huh? Not that I mind, just didn’t expect it.” She takes a sip from her drink as she steps on to the balcony. Than glues her glass to the railing so that it won’t fall off as she takes a look at the view. It really was a nice place they got. As she turned to receive a light from Edward she wondered what his plans were now that he had joined. “Thanks for the light Eddy. I was just wondering, what’s a man like…” she didn’t finish since she noticed the door opening. “ Ah, we got company.” she said with a smile.

To her surprise Miss Bard joined them on the balcony. Sarah made herself comfortable by leaning against the wall behind her to listen to Miss Bard. “Yeah, our fuzzy leader is usually right,  though she can be a little rash running towards dragons and all.” She replied with a smirk. “Its nice to know you have a plan to keep it in use, even though it’ll only be filled with soda and juice. And don’t worry about the non alcohol rule. There are enough places in town where I could drink, including my own little crib. Just thought, since we just got this place it was time for a little celebrating. She unglues her glass, picks it up and raises it. “Here’s to a nice and quiet hideout… and lets hope it stays that way.” Sarah exclaims before taking another sip.

“I was just about to ask Eddy what his plans were now that he joined the team, but I guess now I got a chance to ask both of ya.” She said with a wide grin while putting back her glass. She didn’t know exactly why Miss Bard gave them this place, but it was reason enough for Sarah to consider her as one of the crew.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Angel smirks at Sarah insinuating Angel is now part of the team. She is kinda glad Ed asked Sarah her plans so that Angel has more time to think on how to answer that question herself. She's positive Sarah (maybe even Ed) will ask her again once Sarah has answered, so she is mentally prepping herself while paying attention to what is said.

I plan to take over the world? Maybe. Sounds so over the top, they'll think I'm kidding. On the other hand, they could take me serious.

Then again, Sarah's question also suggests only asking about plans for the future of the Citizen Patrol or things concerning it. So maybe I plan to make the world more accepting of mutants? ....no, I know the term "mutant" is insulting and since I'm not "one of them" in that respect, they may take it as racist.

I plan to make the Citizen Patrol a well-respected organization that will come to make people see things through a more heroic lens. ......bingo! That'll work for now. Even if it sounds too Miss America, I'm sure I can say it with the right tone to make it down to Earth.

Sarah smiles as she listens to Edward talk of his plans. She liked his answer since it contained music and chilling, both things she loved dearly. “Don’t worry about asking questions. I figure since were on the same boat we might as well know each other a little. Though I can’t say my life has been one glamorous moment after another I’m still alive and kicking, so I guess things could be worse” Sarah says with a wide grin. She didn’t want to go into it though, preferring the present over the past. Quickly she changed the subject back to Edwards plans. “we don’t fight danger on a daily basis, but it’s good to check up on the group when you can. There’s usually something going on and there are always some free snacks so you won’t hear me complain. I’m still job hunting myself and I might be able to help ya find something. Got some connections in the clubs and pubs, though I doubt they would be thrilled to see me again I can still pull some strings. Beside that, if ya ever wanna jam and have a drink my door’s always open... Well, not literally of course. Best to call first.”

Sarah pauses for a second to stretch her arms before continuing. “As far as my Citizens patrol duties go I’m hoping to do more good than damage. They are a nice group of people and the job is definitely a fun distraction from day to day life. There’s even been some talk about starting a band, which is possible since there’s quite some talent in the group, but we’ll see where things lead.” Thanks to all this talking she hasn’t gotten to smoking and tries to shift the conversation to Miss Bard. Sarah turns her head to the lady and notices she’s giving the words some thought. ‘Probably not an easy question when you have bigger plans than: earn some money and have some fun.’ The one eyed giant thought to herself while looking at Miss Bard. “Your turn Angel.” she said still gazing at her. Sarah was rather curious to what the young woman has to say.

Your actions are already heroic, yet there have already been fearful people throwing cruel words at you just because they misunderstand you. I plan to leave no room for such except that such a person wishes to be outcast among society. In other words, I want the Citizen Patrol to be too popular to bash. People who bashed Mother Teresa or Fred Rogers were so few and far between that IF you even heard about it, it was considered appalling and even disgusting. That is what I want to do with the Citizen's Patrol."

She looks at Sarah and Ed. "Before you bash yourselves for having been arrested, consider this: Your story of going from cuffs to heroics only helps promote the Citizen Patrol. It shows they are a GOOD influence. It shows that it can change lives. You, Sarah, have already saved lives since you joined. And I don't doubt Ed will follow soon after."

She then cracks a smile. "Though if you meant what I plan to do after pizza, I'm thinking of a relaxing bath at home."

This is nice Cell thought to himself, he liked the atmosphere of it all he has never been any group like this and he loved the feeling of being part of something and just not by himself. He loved his parents very much but they never had time for him , they went on a lot of business trips and Cell was left to fend for himself.

Cell sat in the chair for a few momments and took it all in, he gave everyone a warm big smile. He just grinned.

"Hi Cell, pizza is in the works.  No fair splitting two persons worth across your two persons worth.  Unless you'll starve to death otherwise I guess."  The term 'going for seconds' has a lot more technicalities with... Hey, wait a minute...  'Note to self, read over Cell's Permission slip.' Joe thinks.  While Joe would call the kid Cell if they preferred, it occurs to his player that not even delving into the magical OOC land of character listings shows their real name anywhere.

Unless His parents actually did name their kid Cell.  In which case Joe's middle name could sympathies.

It’s a little different from trying to stay alive and have fun like me, but its definitely admirable.” She rubbed her chin as if thinking of something for a second and than continued. “The whole thing about the Citizens Patrol gaining the public’s favour is a little over my head. If I can help feel free to ask, though I prefer the saving lives part of the job. Danger that’s actually appreciated, hah…that’s a dream job for me.” A friendly smile appeared on Sarah’s face as she raised her glass once more. Emerald puts the stuff together to make the dough. She wasn't kidding about making it from scratch. She is careful and methodical, signs of someone who while they know what they are doing, hasn't done this often. Emmy isn't a cook, but she knows a recipe or two and has learned it doesn't take much to screw it up.

Once the ingredients are put together, she has Haalimaa use the rolling pin on the dough while she has Liberty stir the sauce. She gets the cheeses out and says, "This would taste a little better if I had the time to bother with making my own cheese, but I don't know how to do that anyways." she grins and starts pre-heating the oven. If Ed doesn't hurry, he won't be much help in the kitchen. Which for most guys, is good news.

Rather suddenly, she grabs hold of Liberty, yoinks her down to her level and kisses the girl on the cheek. "You're a sweet girl, lifting Haalima's spirits like that." she then looks at Haalima. Seeing she seems to know us and we dunno much about her I reckon it’s as good a time as any to change that.” She smirked as she put her cigarette in the corner of her mouth. “Ow, and before I forget… if ya got some time tomorrow call me and I’ll help ya out with moving your stuff here.” She wasn’t going to let Edward off the hook that easily, but she figured she’ll let him get accustomed to the group a little first.

"Yea, jealous. I'm used to that anyway so, not really to much of a bother. And I'll bring my guitar over then, hehe, hope its not a bother, but its my baby.”
He gently smiles at Sarah.
“Sure, I'll call you up. Packing alone can be really a pain in the... Erm, back side. And sure I'll tell M”
Eddy walks out of the balcony, waving at Cell.
“Hey! Kid, who might you be? Hey, Emerald, Sarah will come help in a bit, she asked me to forward that. So? We're cooking or what? How can I help?”
He walks over to the kitchen smiling, tho trying to avoid eye contact. Shepard living alone for so long isn't used to being in a room, with this much people.

She can't help but give Mittens a smile too when she comes in. Then she went back to rolling out the dough she was working on with exacting preciseness, trying to get it just perfect.

"How dare you insult my little brother!?" the monster's voice booms, "Insolence!"

Then she snaps out of her momentary fantasy.

"That wasn't very nice," she says, following Timothius out of the room.

Sarah had hoped to see food on the table. But as Miss Bard had said, since it’s home made it might take a little longer to prepare. “Well I guess that’s good news for me, since I promised to help. I could use a snack by now though.” She said to Angel with a smile as she puts her glass on a table. “At any rate, I’m off to the kitchen to offer a hand.” Sarah gives a glance and a smile at Tim as she walks to the kitchen.

Once there she notices how crowded the kitchen has gotten. She takes a quick look around and sees most of the work has already been divided. Wondering if there’s still something for her to do she decides to go over to Emerald and ask. “Hey M, I see you got things under control here. Just came to report for duty if ya still need the extra hands.” Than her stomach interrupts with a grumble. She scratched the back of her head as she smirked. “and maybe get a snack while I’m here.”

Emerald looks through the kitchen for just a moment before saying to Sarah, "Well if you find one, help yourself! Don't need help at this point, though." she takes the now-put-together parts and throws the pizzas in the oven. Because as big as their group is, Emmy knew she had to make more than one. To speed up the RP a bit, we'll say all of them are ready to bake.

Emerald then looks at Ed and says, "Thanks a ton, but all's well now, Mr Helpful. Let's gather together at the living room and discuss today's plans. Like who is sleeping where, what movies we wanna watch if any, stuff like that."

She leads the way to the main room. Liberty follows.

Meanwhile, Timothius just gives Joe a smile and a nod in acknowledgment, though he looks embarrassed.

As there is no need for further help in the kitchen Sarah prepares an aperitif while trying not to get in the way too much. She roasts some slices of bread and gets a few jars from the fridge, than breaks the roasted slices in two and puts them in a small straw basket. She thinks one cup of aioli and two different pesto's will be enough to snack on until the pizza is ready. But just to be sure she opens a bag of cocktail nuts for the people who don't like garlic and/or olives. When she's done Sarah followed Emerald to the main room and put the snacks on the table before taking a seat. She was just about to stuff the first piece of bread smeared with aioli in her mouth when the doorbell rang. Raising an eyebrow she wondered who would know of the recent moving of the Citizens Patrol and asked: “Someone expecting visitors?”

Tim wouldn't have a package until he was 18? Who would have thought.  He's pretty sure this will never end unless Mitten's gets to win 'you're more wrong than I am' and it's not exactly a subject worth added effort over, so taking a conversational dive is for the best.

"Anyways, don't worry about how manly or not you are Tim, You're fine.  Though let me know if someone actually is bringing that into question."  For there would be flying piledrivers in response.  Or at least a heavy temptation towards them.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Synch was once again telling Levi she should look more carefully at where she’s flying but stopped the moment the door seemed to open. What Liberty found behind it wasn’t as threatening as someone with a gun, but it was equally as surprising. Floating about twelve inches from the ground was a somewhat short, pointy eared girl with blue skin and pink hair. Levi had a big smile on her face and while the door opened her bright pink eyes twinkled like a child who was opening a gift on Christmas morning. She was wearing black jean shorts and a white L.A. Lakers jersey paired with a pair of sneakers. Seeing her frail appearance it was pretty obvious she didn’t play the sport, or any sport for that matter.

Next to her was a man who looked a little extravagant but still rather normal in comparison to his companion. He had long black hair and a slightly tinted complexion. There were two eagle feathers appearing on the left side from behind his head which were supported by a small trinket in his hair so that they wouldn’t fall out. It seamed like the green sweater he wore was a size too large and paired with his baggy trousers it was hard to see his build, yet it was safe to assume he was in better shape than the girl next to him.

Once the door had opened the pointy eared girl was first to react. With great enthusiasm in her voice she said “Hi, I’m Levi. You must be Liberty, and you’re Mittens. I read so much about you all.” She leaned forward making her float almost horizontal towards the entrance. “You were the one saving the lady from a fiery death, and you are the fearless leadURK…” She wanted to give both Liberty and Mittens a big hug and tell her how amazing she thought The Citizens Patrol and their actions were. But Synch had seen it coming and pulled her back by her collar.

After living under one roof with Levi for a few years he knew she wasn’t able to hold her enthusiasm. He scraped his throat before saying: “Sorry about that, she tends to get ahead of herself. I’m Giovanni, but you can call me Synch.” He let go of Levi and extended his arm towards mittens to shake hands. They were rather rugged and he had one or two rings on nearly every finger. Meanwhile Levi had folded her arms and gave Synch a foul look.

Liberty has seen a catish girl, a fox, a VERY catish boy with angel wings, and a tiger-horse. In that order. Seeing the hovering elf is still somewhat shocking due to not having seen anything with blue skin yet and her flight is... hovering. "My name is Liberty, yes..." she says, "Very pleased to meet you both. You're just in time for an important meeting about what movies we're gonna watch and what kind of cake we'll be having for desert after eating home-made pizza."

Liberty has a "we got it made" smile on her face. "Come on in, you two! Hey Tim! You got another flier to join you in the skies!" she calls over her shoulder while opening the door wider and making way for the pair.

From farther in, Timothius, Emerald and Angel wave. Timothius smiles, spreading his wings a little before re-folding them.

Even if Levi were a 3 year old, Mittens would have face-palmed from an ambush hug given the headache of having to explain the concept of personal space to Mr. Literal, so she appreciates Giovanni reigning in his cuter-yet-older-than-Mittens friend.

"Cake?" Mittens asks, "Nobody said anything about cake...  Oh wait... You just did.  Beware of how you phrase things around Mr. Literal."

She thumbs at Joe.

"Well as Liberty said, come in!  Ms. Levi's enthusiasm and Mr. Giovanni's cool are both much appreciated and welcome."

She steps aside and makes an exaggerated sweeping gesture with her arm to welcome them in.

"Haalima brings up a practical point.  We can get started with the 'get to know you' while the pizza cooks.  I'll start us off.  As you know, I go by the nickname Mittens.  I'm the founder of the Citizen Patrol.  I'm a 16 year old highschool grad, a bit of an overachiever, and a generic-brand Christian.  My likes include: heroes, adventure, and people who respect personal boundaries.  I'm curious why 'Synch?'"

There were so many things she wanted to ask that she didn’t know where to begin.

‘They are even more amazing in real life than on the pictures.’ She thought as she waved back at everyone. Once they were asked in, Levi flew towards Timothius who showed off his wings. In reply she joyfully made a twirl in the sky before stopping a couple of feet from Tim. “You’re the one that can heal right? That’s so amazing. I wish I had such power. And you can fly too.” she said with much enthusiasm and an endearing smile. “were going to have so much fun in the skies, I just know it." she thought for a second and than asked: "how far can you reach towards the sky? And how fast can you go?” It seemed she did some research on the group but was still very inquisitive.

Synch didn’t give the mean look much thought since he knew Levi would soon be distracted and forget all about it. He did have to chuckle at the welcome speech. “Thanks for the welcome and the warning, I’ll try to keep it in mind.” he replied to Mittens while taking a quick glance at Joe.

Once asked inside Levi was first to react as usual. Synch sighted ‘The girl always needs to make a scene when she’s excited’ he thought as he saw Levi show off her flying skills. He greets the group with a short hand gesture and a smile before entering, than nods in reply to the suggestion of getting to know one another before dinner. As he listens to Mittens he is surprised how openly she talks about herself. Giovanni smiled when the cat girl asked him about his nickname, as he had wondered why the girl had called herself Mittens when he heard it. “It has to do with my powers, I chose Synch as a short version for synchronizing.” he explains “I can synchronise my psyche with non living objects. It’s a little hard to explain. From what I have been told my aura and psyche are linked together which forms some sort of sensor. I felt stuff around me my entire life and it has been very normal to me. I didn’t even know I was different until my father found out. to keep a long story short, if I concentrate I can try to find the use of objects. It’s a little more than that but I don’t want to talk your ears off.”

Gionvanni took a short pause before continuing. “As for my personal information, I’m a twenty-three year young, half-native half Italian repairman. And best repairman in the city.” he proudly adds. He smiled to Mittens hoping that would be enough information. Than he asked her “So what about your name? I must confess it does seem to suit you but how did you come up with it?”

Timothius smiled as Levi hovered around. "I can't fly the way *you* do. Wow... that'd be neat to hover. I might knock something over if I fly inside this place." unless he was flying *through* it like an arrow. "How fast? Well gee... depends on what you mean. If you mean diving speed? Any skydiver, wings or no, can go 124 mph falling straight down. But if you mean straightaway? I can cruise at about 20 mph and if I'm really pushing it, I can go little over 40 mph for a few seconds. How high up? Err.... I actually get a little nervous after reaching 100 feet up because I'm afraid I'll run out of breath or something and come crashing down, so I try not to push it too much. But I'm new to flying, so... those are just my answers for now. I've been improving as I practice. As it stands, I don't last long in the air."

Timothius knows about flight speed because, well, Mittens would never stop bugging Timothius until she knew his "numbers". Or his "stats" as it were. Besides, Tim was curious too.

Levi exclaimed some ooh’s and aah’s as she listened to Tim explain the specifics about his flight. She was greatly impressed to hear he could safely go over 100 miles an hour, even if it was only in a dive. “I’m never going to be able to keep up with you.” she replied with a hint of disappointment in her voice. “I can only go about 10 mph, any faster and it gets hard to manoeuvre.”

She turns to Joe and replied to his remark. “Well, I can carry any one of you into the air. Not as a rocket booster or anything, but it might be helpful.” seeing the girls weak exterior it seemed rather doubtful she could, but who knows, there have been stranger things happening. Once she turns back she notices Timothius had taken a seat near Mittens, who was saying something about an official meeting. From that point Levi listens intently to what the furry captain has to say. “I’d love to join, its why I’m here.” She gleefully remarks when Mittens asked about it. “And Synchy too, he can use the distraction.”

When Mittens offered the clipboard with sheets to Angel, Levi floated towards them to check what’s on the sheets. Being rather curious to what is going to be asked of her she couldn’t resist to take a peek before getting one handed herself.

Synch also blinked at the sight of Haalima when she stood up to get some drinks. ‘wow’ he thought as she passed by ‘She’d probably be able to rip me to shreds if she wanted to.’ nonetheless he gave a gentle smile at the Tiger/horse-like lady. “If you have any coffee that would be great." he said before looking around for a place to sit. Than decides to take a seat at the table near Joe.

As he listened to what Mittens had to say he wondered what the meeting would be about. “I’d prefer to read the specifics about joining first, but you can probably count me in. He added to Levi’s remark about him joining. “Someone is going to have to keep an eye on her, might as well be me.” he said, hinting towards Levi.

Sarah ogled the newcomers from a distance as they entered. ‘Odd couple, though they seem harmless enough’ she eventually concluded. From than on she tried to enjoyed her snacks time for as long as she could before the official meeting would start again. Seeing that it got rather chaotic she decided not to comment, yet couldn’t help but chuckle when Haalima made an excuse to leave the room. ‘Never expected her to be so shy when I first met her’ Sarah thought to herself. ‘Might have to invite her over some time to ask what that’s all about. Talking always goes a lot easier after a few drinks.’

Angel takes the paper given her and tilts it to be more convenient for Levi to see when the girl peers over Angel's shoulder. Angel says, "Seems here the Citizen's Patrol doesn't require powers to join, so I actually qualify. That's reassuring. I'll join on a condition: I answer to nobody. I will be happy to hear what people have to say and even do what is asked of me, but I just wanna be sure nobody is under any false pretenses that I am allowing anyone rank over me. As it is, I'm going to be busy and will probably have just enough time to make it to your meetings. But I will definitely make an attempt to do just that so I can be better informed on how to help you all out."

She signs the paper and writes the stipulation on it above the signature.

Angel asides to Levi, "Might be helpful? Sweetheart, the ability to carry someone off a building-top safely is something most emergency rescuers would envy greatly. Not to mention the ability to carry rescuers UP to said building-top in order to help with stuff like what happened with that suicidal drunk the Citizen's Patrol rescued during the fire dragon attack."

Emerald flops against the sofa. "Please no delaying, Mittens? I know you wanna be all official, but what's it going to hurt sharing our first meeting with Angel and these two new arrivals, members or no? I mean, Angel may as well be a member, having funded our base here. And the other two may as well be members as they came knocking on our door and blatantly showing they have powers and showing interest in joining." times like these, she remembers the freedom of being an outlaw.

<Flashback to Firefly>
Lawman says to the outlaw Jane, "You're in serious trouble."

Jane says, "Gee... I ain't never been in trouble with the law before."
</Flashback to Firefly>

....yeah. There is a distinct advantage to "if they try to sue us, we'll just kill them" mentality. But Emerald doesn't like the whole killing part of that equation. S'why she is messing with more heroic stuff. Well that and she cares about people.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

In the kitchen, Haalima looked through a couple of cabinets before finding the coffee maker. She pulled it down, found the required things that go with a coffee maker, and began spooning grounds in to a filter. She hummed aimlessly as she filled the pot up, her tail swishing back and forth and the fringe hanging from it sweeping across the tiles of the floor.

Honestly, she was a bit upset with herself. She had bolted partially out of shyness at the two new arrivals, and partially out of actually wanting to get them drinks because it would be polite. She knew that since the two seemed to have done their homework on the Citizen's Patrol that they had probably seen pictures of her. It's not like they were going to run away screaming in fear of her, right?

But she also knew that pictures didn't always do her justice- for good or for ill. Seeing a picture of a huge woman that looked like a tiger-horse, and actually SEEING a huge woman that looked like a tiger-horse were two different things. She sighed softly as she hit the power button for the coffee pot and began searching through the cabinets again for mugs, sugar, and creamer.

Mits hasn't forgotten that Diren is at the pool table, but will only interrupt to call him to the meeting once it actually starts.

"Thanks for being so thoughtful and hospitable, Haalima," she says, "Emerald seems to have given her approval already to the potential new members, now we just need Sarah's thumbs-up on our end.  As for what's expected of members, this is a volunteer organization.  Members are expected to be upstanding, law abiding, paragons of awesome like volunteer firefighters are expected to be.  If a member gives the rest a bad name, I'm sure they'll hear about it from the rest of the group.

"Same goes for 'no bossing me around,' Angel.  No one makes anyone stay.  If requests ever become too unreasonable to any member, that member has a whole host of options including, but not limited to, leaving the group.  Oh!  And it should be mentioned.  Like many charitable organizations, not everyone is expected to do the work of running into burning buildings to rescue children.  Each member chooses their own level of contribution.  Emerald and Sarah volunteered to be our recruiters, for example.  Apparently there's this impression going around that every member is expected to be a superhero.  I would argue that the volunteer accountant at a food bank counts as a superhero, but I digress...

"I can get on with part of the next meeting, Emerald, but not the part that's member's only.  Not till there's only members here."

She glances over at Joe and nods.

"Yup.  Just fancier looking.  Not only was there no need for any wording change, but I'd want approval from you all if we were to decide on such a thing."

Back to the group.

"But if we're all gunna be members in the next few minutes, once everyone's signed up and ready to go, I can get to the meat of the meeting."

She pulls out her little netbook and boots up her power point.

Sarah was still in deep thought. ‘hmmm…I doubt Haalima is a beer drinker. Wonder what I should get if she comes over. Could be she prefers wine… that would suck since I don’t know anything about the fruity stuff. Might be best to ask Ishida what for advice… But than again, Haalima could still say no to the invitation and I’d be buying wine for nothin’… Maybe I should just ask her first.’

Upon hearing her name Sarah snaps out thought mode. She hadn’t exactly heard what she got mentioned for but she made a good guess.  “Huh?... Ow, erm. If Emerald thinks they are okay I guess they have my vote too. They don’t look like bad folk, and the blue one seems to be quite motivated.” Sarah put her feet on the edge of the table and starts wiggling her chair as she thinks: ‘Wonder how many ciggies I can roll during this part of the meeting.’

Than again, he didn’t always listen to her that well. Especially once she started rambling on about stuff she was excited about.

When he heard Joining didn’t necessarily mean you’d have to physically fight crime Synch made a sigh of relief. “Glad to hear it. I'm a better mechanic than a superhero I reckon. If there is a position for research, building or repairs I’d gladly take the job.” Synch than leans a little to Joe and whispers: “she might not have problems with aerodynamics, but does tend to fly first and look later.” as he said it he received another foul look from Levi.  “she has excellent hearing though.” Synch quickly added with a whisper.

Joining was what she was here for, and so the hugging could wait. Immediately she starts filling the questions. With only a short interrupted to give synch a foul look she quickly finishes.

She hears what Synch says about good hearing and grins. "Hey, Levi, I got good hearing too!" she says excitedly. "I guess the more members we get, the more interconnected commonalities we'll have. Oh!"

Emerald looks at Mittens. "One part of the meeting that I wanna do is what you suggested a while back: Nicknames. Seems some people just come up with ones for themselves automatically, but I think we should all have 'em. It'll be fun and feel... superheroish."

Mits smiles and files the new app papers.  "OK then!" she says, "Everything's all official and stuff!"

"Diren!" she calls out to the room with the pool table, cupping her hads to her mouth to protect the ears of the sensative hearing types, "Party's starting!"

"Glad you like the superhero name, Lib," Mittens asides, "As Joe pointed out, monosyllabic is practical."

When Haalima and Shepard join the group, she looks sceptically at the power point, closes the netbook, and sets it aside.

"Had a projector at the police station.  I'll skip the power point for lack of a big enough screen.  OK!  So!  Since Emerald is dieing to know the members only part I'll skip to that part.  I'll start with the not-bad news.  The not-bad news is that you all stand to become rich and famous!  There's been offers galore for all of us, and each of us individually, with the obvious exception of our newest members, to sell our souls to the commercial world for endorsements, public appearances, TV, movies, etc., etc!  Yay selling out your heroic rep to do detergent commercials in exchange for piles of cash!

"If you haven't guessed, I'm not in favor of getting rich off of our heroics.  It goes against the purpose of the Citizen Patrol.  Something that money can't buy.  Namely, giving us mutants a good name in the eyes of the public by doing good deeds for said public.  And if we as a group go commercial, we're going to be telling the public, 'No, I didn't put my life on the line for other people out of the goodness of my heart.  Rather, I did it for the money!'

"I have not told any of the organizations to buzz off just yet, since that's not my call to make for you all individually, but the name of the Citizen's Patrol is not for sale.  I haven't even said yes to any not-for-profit charitable offers either.  That will be a group decision.

"Now for the bad-ish news.  I'm currently being officially investigated as a terrorist for my suspected involvement in the recent attacks on the city."

She clears her throat, takes on a serious tone, and mimics an investigator.

"'So tell me how you just happened to be at the "right place at the right time," not just once, but twice, young lady.'"

She returns to her normal enthusiastic tone and continues.

"Obviously, they don't believe that it's my mutant ability to know when bad stuff is comin.  Obviously, they've got nothing on me or I'd be behind bars rather than chatting it up with you guys.  Maybe just as obviously, just because they've released me doesn't mean I'm not off the hook.  They likely have my phone tapped, my car tracer'd, my house under observation, etc., etc.  Ye olde guilty until proven innocent brave new world.

"But put in their shoes, I'd be very skeptical too, so I don't really blame 'em much.  So I gave 'em my full cooperation.  Nothing I've done or do or will do is in any way something I'd hide from the eyes of justice, so I'm not worried about being under the microscope.

"That said, not only did I figure you guys deserved to know, but I also figured you could use the heads-up that there's a chance that they might microscope you guys too.  But most importantly, we're under the microscope of the public eye.  Which means every little thing we do that might be misconstrued as a bad thing to do will be plastered all over the news.

"For example, if the news of my being under investigation were to get out, it wouldn't matter that I'm not guilty, I would be condemned in the public eye, and consequently, all mutants would be condemned.

"So!  The point of all this!  Not everyone is up for the challenge of living up to the expectations, or under the scrutiny of, public opinion.  Or law enforcement for that matter.  Things are going fast.  At the rate we're going, by the end of the month we'll have fought two more monsters and either be condemned as super-villains or given the key to the city.

"The question is, 'Are you up to the challenge?'  Even if you're only the mechanic or the accountant, and even though I will never give out the name of a member without permission, people could still find out and you could still be guilty by association."

((OOC: Important note from the GMs - We will not be taking the story down the road of "the whole world hates mutants."  Mittens is in-character warning your characters that such might happen.  What she doesn't know is that it most certainly will not. ))

You and Sarah were on the porch with me and I told you both that a criminal record will only help the Citizen Patrol when we show people how it turned your life around. Sure, your intentions and actions may have always been good, but what matters to the people is what they see happen. So when they see you on the news rescuing people or doing other heroics like serving at a homeless shelter, people will either forget you had a criminal record, or think you are trying to deceive the Citizen Patrol. Either way, the Citizen Patrol winds up looking like the good guy that's trying to reform people."

Angel looks at Mittens. In a matter-of-fact, "don't worry about it" kind of tone, Angel says, "Media, spin, social arts... these are specialties of mine. Heck, governments do this all the time. Problem, reaction, solution. So the cops were just being cautious and covering all their grounds. Mittens wasn't arrested. Just asked questions. They may even believe she really does have such a super power, but are just doing routine to cover their bases."

Liberty folds her arms. "It's not fair. Well when we find who HAS been sending these villains our way, that should clear Mittens anyways." she grumbles, "innocent till proven guilty. Goes against human nature."

Liberty leans forward and says, "Well it shouldn't matter if they spit on us, throw us in jail, or any of that. Doing the right thing is all that should matter. Sarah was just about to finish up the last piece of roasted bread when Mittens told about the authorities keeping an eye on her. It came as somewhat of a surprise to Sarah and she almost choked on the snack. “*Cough* WHAT!? *Hawk*.” She took a few seconds to swallow the chunk of bread in her throat and than continues. “Well that's just peachy. I knew I was right when I said no good deed goes unpunished.” than sighs before replying to angels comment.

“How can we make a good name if they will prosecute us anyway? Whether we do good  things or not doesn't seem to matter to the law. Here we are trying to help, and all they can think of is that WE'RE the problem? Well expect me to cooperate with my fists if I notice some pig stalking any of us.” It wasn’t the smartest comment of the day, yet she couldn't help but get mad when hearing the news. Sarah really wanted to start punch stuff but tried to subdue that urge, thinking she could vent her frustration with a bottle of scotch and a punching bag at home once the meeting was over. Nonetheless her somewhat good mood took a turn for the worse as she voiced her opinion, agreeing with Liberty on the matter. “Stupid paranoid coppers. They should put there efforts at fighting the real criminals, not stalking little girls that actually try to help out.” . Than she picked up her glass and finished what was left of her scotch in one gulp.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Levi got a little skittish after hearing the news. She was an Illegal immigrant as far as the law was concerned. The fact that either one of the group could be taken under the loop made her fear the fact that they might do a background check on her as well. Not daring to say what troubles her she just stared at the ground a little, hoping to fade to the background for a bit.

It was Synch who tried to do the smart thing and tell the group about it. Knowing it could become a problem if they found out later on, he decided to get it out of the way. “Well there might be a slight problem there” he said once his turn came up. but before he could continue he got interrupted by the raging redhead named Sarah. He sighed and waited for an opportunity to tell the group that Levi was a refugee. Levi noticed and tried to subtly hint at Synch that he should keep his mouth shut about it. Yet subtlety wasn’t her strong suit and it was clear to see she was trying to shush him.

Once Sarah had finished Synch reluctantly replied “Wha...Chill lady, they are just doing their job. They have to investigate every aspect before they can come to a conclusion. And wouldn't you be somewhat suspicious if some girl just happened to be better at fighting crime than trained professionals?” with the hope of not  getting punched in the face by Sarah for voicing his opinion. Sarah just gave him a look as if saying “What the hell do you know about it?” but it didn’t bother Synch much since it seemed like she wasn't going to pummel him into a bloody mess. Relieved of this fact he continued. “I'm a little concerned about the privacy matter though. If anyone knows who we are there might be repercussions.  Some of us might not be able to be completely honest about their background because of either personal or political reasons.” while saying this Levi's face went from Blue to slight purplish blue because she knew Synch was talking about her. Yet she appreciated the fact that he didn’t bluntly say what his true concerns were, and in fact was making himself look more suspicious than Levi.

Mittens responds with body language mostly at first.  To Diren and Shephard she smiles and nods.  To Angel's points she strokes her chin and frowns, and puts on an impressed "oh!" look when Angel boasts she's into public relations.  Between Liberty and Emerald she raises her eyebrows, lip-skews, and nods.  Joe's comments make her blush, rub behind her head, and wear a sheepish grin.  To Timothius' answer, she wears a tired face, hangs her tongue out, and pants like a St. Bernard.  Sarah's cough startles Mittens, and she reaches out like she was ready to give the Heimlich Maneuver but recovers, listens, and hehs.  Between Levi and Synch she head-tilts and smiles curiously.

"Good points, all!" she answers, "Fantastic, I should say!  Because I didn't hear any quitter's excuses!"

She squees for a moment, clenched fists covering her grin, trying to contain her happy excitement!

"What a buncha brave hearts you all are!  It may be viewed as crazy for me to smile in the face of danger, but I can't help but feel privileged to be surrounded by such awesome heroes!  Ok! Ok! Calm down."

She paces and waves at herself.

"One additional point needs to be made.  Namely that we're all in this together.  All for one and one for all!
"Angel, since you mentioned you're an expert in PR, I would love for you to take over such if Joe doesn't mind.  Thanks for the positive outlook!
"Diren, it's an honor to provide a place for you, and I look forward to seeing your first metal sculptures.
"Ed, we'll be there for you should anything ever go to trial.  I've made quite a few lawyer contacts already who've offered legal aid and advice for free.
"Liberty, you live up to your name.  If you were around during the revolution, Sam Adams would put you on his shoulders and say he looks up to you.
"Emerald, shrewd and practical as ever.  Your level-headedness will keep us down to earth.
"Joe, I too know the satisfaction of proving the nay-sayers wrong.  You may not believe it to be as noble, but the fact remains you heroically placed yourself in danger to help others.
"Timothius, you sound like He-Man giving the moral of the story.  Of course reducing personal risk at the expense of others isn't even an option... in the mind of a true hero!
"Sarah, I can't tell you how happy it makes me to have a protective big sis.  I only ask that we save the punches for villains who are putting people's lives at risk.
"Synch and Levi, I'll be more than happy to do what I can to protect your privacy."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Joe, considers Mittens's long and elaborate reply to what everyone has said.  He of course singles out the single most important detail for him to address out of all these points.  "I am not a short lion with a crowned heart on his belly and/or a Mel Gibson movie."

  Important details.

"Though less effort on my part for someone probably better at the PR thing would be good."  TLDR Edition News while easy to read, likely wasn't very good for their image as hardworking... whatevers.  "Nobody is in handcuffs... Right now."  More implying the times Sarah and Edward may already have had such wrist accessories than it being inevitable in the future.  Honest.  "And yes, Pizza is good. I've lost track of if we have introduced Diren to this concept directly yet or not."

It's not because you only feel like this meeting has gone on for months and lost track of things Joe.  It's because it actually has gone on for months and your player has lost track of things.  Similar, but fundamentally different.

Haalima cleared her throat gently. "I agree that the pizza does smell good. I think Emerald probably outdid herself," she said with a soft smile. Her brown eyes glittered as she looked at Mittens. "As for being under scrutiny, just so that my opinion is noted in the official minutes: I've been in newspapers since I was born. A few headlines that aren't about the Daughter of Satan being born aren't going to bother me a bit.

"I do admit that it sucks Mitts is being put under the microscope for something we all know is ridiculous, but the police are just doing their jobs. I can't be too angry with them for that. Hopefully they'll see the light soon and get on board with us."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah's rage subsided a little after hearing the kind words of their leader. She scratched the back of her head out of embarrassment. “well if ya insist I’ll try to keep the punching to a minimum, yet I can't promise anythin'. And If there is anyone giving any of ya trouble don’t hesitate to call and i'll be on my way backing ya up.” She said wile taking a look around at the faces of the group.

The furry little captain was right about one thing; there were some brave people gathered in this room and Sarah had come to love them, not only for their bravery but also their acceptance of other people. It was a good feeling to have gained a group of friends with a common goal, and no fire-breathing dragon or stalking officer was going to get in between that. Thinking this she smirked and took a more relaxing pose in her chair. Than she remembered something rather important.

Having half forgotten she was in an official meeting she turned to Halima when the somewhat shy lady had said her piece. Sarah didnt want to interrupt her, so with a little hesitation asked: “So, Haalima. We aint had much time to talk and I was wondering ifn ya have some time to come over to my place in the near future.” she takes a short pause to check if it didnt startle the tall tiger lady too much and than continues. “gonna try to have a talk with all of ya,  yet I guess since, well...erm. Sarah Sighs before continuing, thinking she's never been very good at connecting to people for some reason. “Well  i'd love to hear what’s on your mind ya know. And I bet we'd have ourselves some laughs seeing were the tallest of the group.” For Sarah it was a lot harder to ask something like this than to put her life on the line for people she didn’t know and it took a lot of effort to get the words out of her mouth. But she figured if she was to stay with this group she'd better get to know all of em a little better to avoid conflicts. Truthfully Haalima would be one of the harder ones to get to know she thought. Noticing she was a little on the shy side Sarah figured it was best to start there.

Emerald had bit her lip with a twinge of a smile when Sarah referred to the policeman as a pig. She listens to all the "we're not quitting" talk and has a proud, cocky smile with half-lidded eyes. Almost like a "those are MY kids" look. Then talk of pizza. Emerald smiles as she listens to Sarah comment some more, but hops to her feet as she does. "Haalima. I choose you." she couldn't help it. "Come help me pull the pizza out. There's a couple in there and they are a little big, so a small fry like me could use some assistance if I wanna not get burns trying to pull them out."

She gives a glance to Sarah. "You and I could use some one-on-one sometime, Sarah. Lookin' forward to it when it happens."

As she heads for the kitchen, she talks over her shoulder, "But then, I think everyone here should have one-on-one with everyone else at some point. Not that it's a requirement. I'm sure it'll happen all on its own..."

(To keep the RP rolling, I'll go ahead and say the pizza comes out and is served to everyone in short ord-*gets smacked by Emerald* "Bad pun! Bad!" ....anyway, yeah. Feel free to post having pizza and Haalima can feel free to post that she helped and then partook when she gets around to posting.)

So besides "oh no, we're the scapegoats for all hate-crimes" and besides pizza, was there anything else to cover? I'm kind of excited about getting nicknames for everyone. It's just like having a club and this is our clubhouse."

Liberty and Sarah. So alike, they even have the same font color.

When the pizza is served, of course, Liberty digs in and enjoys.

While narration was about to use a different word that would have upped the rating of this board, Timothius finds another word to describe the pizza. Ecstasy. "Wow... this doesn't taste home-made. This tastes like restaurant pizza... only better."

Emerald smiles and says, "Yeah, well... to no credit of my own. Anyone here could make it. I just lucked out and came across someone who came up with the recipe and, well... let's just say he trusted me enough to give it to me. That said, I'm not allowed to teach it to anyone. Yet."

Tim ohs. "S'ok... as long as we have you around cooking pizzas like this, I doubt even a double-agent would ever betray us."

With a slight grin Synch replied to Mitten “That’s all I needed to hear little lady.” as earlier mentioned, it was a little odd to see someone so cheerful about facing danger, yet she seemed to have a warm and caring heart. He figured it’d be a rather interesting experience to help this group. He stretched and relaxed a bit until the pizza arrived.

Not being able to resist good food he took a piece of pizza. Even though he had eaten before he and Levi went to register he always had some room for good food, and it sure did smelled great. After trying a piece he said: “well if there’s going be pizza’s like this I’ll be sure to show up at around meeting.” than gave a smile to the little fox lady before taking a second slice. He didn’t want to be rude but the pizza was tempting.

She turned to Liberty and replied Well, me and Synchy kinda already have nicknames, but I don’t mind helping out with picking them.

Levi has gone in float mode again and as the pizza arrives the looks for the smallest cut. Since she already had eaten she wasn’t very hungry, yet with all the people saying it was so good she just had to try it. “Wha, yeah. This is great stuff” she gleefully remarked to Emerald. “The one on one talking sounds like fun” she than remarked on an earlier comment. “though erm…I do live at Synchies place so it could become one on one on one talks.” Making a little “heh” sound after saying this since she might have phrased that a little awkward.

Joe grabbed a single slice in order to actually get one, and because he had the feeling single slice was all that would he availible with this many people for himself.  But hey, free food.  "Well that's just great.  We've ruined quick trips to chain pizza shops forever for Diren with this quality stuff."  Of course, there was always that certain something when it came to buying food instead of making it, like going out for chocolate chip pancakes instead of pouring the mix, making it, cookoh right that was it.

Going out to eat and delivery had the delicious taste of lazy that your own home cooked meal would never be able to accomplish... Except Joe hadn't helped with this pizza at all, so it had that benfit for himself, score!... oh, good.  For a second there we thought he'd feel bad for not helping.

"I'm still skipping the nicknames thing, first it's nicknames then before you know it you're wearing your underpants on the wrong side of your pants and talking in third person.  The one on ones could work out I guess, though I hope nobody is expecting deep and meaningful from me."

"Speaking of music, that was gunna be the next bit on the itinerary... or was it the bit after the next?  Well it was on the list anyway.  I've found us a place where we can get together and jam!"

She motions with her hands to indicate the building everyone is in at the moment and grins playfully.

"Love it when things come together.  I'll be passing around a calendar so everyone can put on it when they're available to jam or listen to the others practice.

As promised, Mittens passes around a calendar, her own name written on various dates she's left her schedule open for music and fun.  She snickers at Joe's superhero humor.

"Nicknames.  Hmm...  Joe is Joe.  Mittens is Mittens.  To brainstorm some ideas, I'm thinking Haalima could be 'Legs.'  Angel could be 'Ebony.'  Sarah could be 'Slugger.'  Emerald could be 'Vixen.'  Diren could be 'Pizza.'  Can't call Timothius 'Angel' or that'd get confusing.  Maybe 'Miracle.'  Shepherd could be 'Wolf.'  Already figured 'Tank' for Liberty.  Beyond that, I'm outta ideas.  And nobody's making anybody take a nickname they don't want."

"Work, work, work," Michael thinks to himself. "Why does it seem like all I do is work?" Walking out of job he just quit, as it turned out to be a sketchy business, he made his way to his motorcycle. Sitting there for a moment, he decides to drive past the police station and see how the Citizen Patrol is doing. He hopes they don't get to made at him for not being around lately.

Finding a visitor parking spot, he makes his way inside towards the room used previously. Opening the door, he is surprised to find a group of men sitting around in a circle, all of which look up at him when he walks in. With a sorry, Michael backs out and heads over to Bill's desk. Bill looks up as he comes over and a smile appears on his face. "Michael, wonderful to see you again. How are you doing?"

"Doing fine William," he replies, giving a slight smirk when Bill gets annoyed at him using his full name. He looked questioningly back to the room and Bill picks up on it.

"You actually just missed them," he says. "They left with some lawyer lady, saying they had their own place now. Good for them, but it means I actually have to do this paperwork now." He grimaces at the thought of that. Taking a sticky note, he scribbles quickly onto it an address. "Here is where they went."

Michael chuckles at Bill's loathing of paperwork and nods his thanks for the address. Then back on his bike he heads to the new location. As he made it to the building, he checked the address a few more times to make sure he was at the right place. "Lawyer lady, huh?" he thought. Parking out front, he makes his way to the door and knocks. He would walk in, but he still thinks Bill gave him the wrong address.

Liberty calls back over her shoulder, "It's Michael!" as she prepares to lead Mike to the others.

Emerald ohs and says with an impish grin, "Hmm... should I tell him we're taking measurements for everyone to wear leather tights...?"

Then shakes it off. "Hmm.. a good start. I'll take notes..." she begins scribbling. "Alright. I'll start shootin' some names: Mittens could be Miss Adventure. Joe could be Impressive Guy. Liberty being Tank is so fitting, but I guess we should all make names, so... Stalwart? Cell calls himself that, so it's likely gonna stick, but I offer maybe calling him Replica? No... too girly sounding somehow. Double Dealer? Better... anyway, Haalima already has an exotic and pretty name. But for a super hero moniker? Arabian Knight? I'll just note that for now... Timothius could be Red Cross. Edward could be Wolverine. Rodney, bless his heart, named himself Wyrm and since he doesn't mind that... I don't mind. Sarah could be Gluegun. Angel could be Messenger, because she'll be doing our PR. Diren could be Metallo. And Michael, of course, can be Sergeant Slaughter."

The last part saved for the moment Michael walks into view, of course.

Angel actually looks at her own skin when Mittens suggests 'ebony' as her nickname. She didn't think she was all that dark... and double-checking, she isn't. Even in this light. Maybe it's because she's the only negro-related person here? But then... Emmy mentioned Rodney, who's blacker than Angel. And this stuff does matter to people.

She hears Emerald's nickname and kinda thinks how if this group knew her better, neither 'messenger' nor 'ebony' would be the suggestions. She doesn't say anything about it, though. Seeing Emerald point at her, Angel points at herself with a curious expression.

Emerald says, "Your turn, Angel."

Angel says, "Oh... uhhh... I guess Emerald could be..." she thinks "Padlock, for all the secrets you keep! Or maybe just Secret. Or maybe Ethnic because you speak all those languages.." but says, "Ruby because she's red. Or Gemstone because her being equated with one isn't uncommon. Mittens... Capricious Cat. Timothius, Healing Wind? Liberty, Fearless. Joe could be Ninja." "or lightning rod" she thinks. "Haalima could be Dancing Dame" or Ponytail. "Edward could be Boneshard. Rodney could be..." SoftSquishythingMon "..yeah, worm. Cell could be Duo. Diren could be Metalmorphosis. Sarah could be Root. Michael could be Portal."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah was delighted to hear the that Mittens was actually still planning on making a band alongside of the whole hero business. She had been trying to pull some strings for instruments and other equipment. “Good to hear” she replied to Mittens “I was afraid that with all the busy days ya had forgotten all about creating a band. Well I got some good news for ya. I asked my mates and old band colleagues ifn they had some equipment to spare and it seems most of em were willing to help out. Even Greg, the drummer from my last band was willing to part with an old drum-kit of his. Though he said we would have to pick it up ourselves, and he lives in Canada at the moment." She sighs while thinking it will be a hell of a trip only to  pick up a drum-kit. “I'm gonna try to convince him he should come over and here, drop it off and meet the crew. Honestly, he is a great drummer and a pretty decent musician overall, so we might profit from his experience if he decides to show up. Aside from that there is some other gear I managed to scrape together, not in perfect condition but its good enough for repetitions. So whenever ya are ready I’ll tell Ishida to hire a van and we'll drop the stuff off here.”

Synch raises an eyebrow at the tall redhead. His first impression of her might have been a little off he thinks as he listens to Sarah. Than he replies “I do have a truck, it should suffice for transport so that that Ishida person doesn’t have to spend cash on a van. I would prefer to drive myself though, since me and my dad are the only ones that can keep it running.” Synch smiled as continued “And I bet I can get that gear of yours back in perfect shape if given some time.” Sarah gladly accepts the offer, it would save her money and it would give her some time to get to know the newcomer a little.

than she hears the doorbell, and as usual doesn't give much more response to it than: “Hey, someone at the door.” She is glad to see Liberty going to awnser it, Sarah was just getting comfortable in the chair. When she hears its Michael she shouts on the top of her longs "ey Michael, if you're quick ya might still have a piece of pizza, its good and going fast.” Sarah was glad to hear Michael hadn’t given up on the group, though she wouldn’t show it directly. She gave an amused look at Diren who seems to be enjoying the meal. She smiles as she said “ya should join me at an all you can eat sushi place some time, seeing how you eat I bet you'll have a good time there”

it seems her mood has taken a turn for the better again, half forgetting about the whole police observation thing. She couldn't resist pitching in a few names herself. “well some people call me Danger woman at times, but I think that name fits Mittens better. Seeing that she attracts danger and runs at it face first. No offence though, its one of the things I like about ya little lady, but do watch yourself a little, aint like you're immortal or anythin'”   This coming from a lady that has a reputation of 'punching first and ask questions if the person survives' is a little strange. But Sarah does seem to care for the little lady. She than turns her head to Emerald "As for you, a simple yet cute name would be Foxy. not very original, I know, yet it does seem to fit ya. Than again, I think I’ll still be calling ya M.” she said with a grin, than she rubs her chin thinking of more names. Sarah figures Timothius being a healer he should be named ample named for an amazing ability like that. “For Tim I’d go for something like Euri or Damu, both mythical gods of Rebirth.” she stops there, thinking that that should be enough of an effort on her side and for a wile.

(OOC: well, i didn’t want to fill up the entire screen with one post so i figured i'd stop here)

Joe finds Angel's suggestion about him both the most accurate and most annoying.  Not because of to what degree ninja like Joe was or not.  Bur because his middle name actually was Ninja...  Like many stupid things in his life, he blamed his Father.  And like many times he blamed his Father for something stupid, it was rightfully so.

"My lazy demands any and all fake names people are dead set on going by not be a headache to write down or type.  Not to say decent ideas are being given in the first place though." does anyone here want to have to type 'Metalmorphosis' at regular intervals?  "Though even if I was inclined towards such, Impressive Guy is probably overstating me."

When Michael makes his, if not triumphant, then at least pleasant return to the group inside, Joe would say  "Hi Michael, good to see you again."

"Wow, Sarah... if the guy lives that far away, you may as well buy your own drumset for the money it'd cost in gas alone. Though if you were looking for an excuse to see your friend, then it's kind of a "may as well" thing."

She XD's at Liberty's comment about Joe, but doesn't comment on it. Everyone is being silly at this point anyways. She looks at Emerald and nods when the fox mentions being a singer. She then relaxes in her chair again and puts her hands behind her head. "I can help with anything concerning the base, band stuff included. Just lemme know."

Tim smiles and waves at Mike as he enters. He giggles from the various silly comments and nods in agreement with Joe's suggestion of short, easy names. He considers the cliche of calling the larger folks "tiny" or something, but doesn't say so out loud since even HE thinks this a ridiculous idea.

"Boneshard, Wolverine, Wolf? Sound awesome. I don't have any ideas tho. And Mitts, do we really have to wear 'em?"
As Micheal walks into the room, he just glances at him, and waves his hand, instead of talking.
'I bet there'll be plenty of time for meet'n'greets' he thinks to himself. After Edward hears Micheal mention spandex suits he says.
"Xinglets sound absolutely dandy, compared to that."

Joe considers Liberty's latest suggestion,  "Well, if it meant pizza like this more often I'd be tempted to go with it.  And yes, flame retardant pants are a more tempting purchase than the spill retardant ones in this kind of situation.  Though at that rate we'll end up looking like a mash between Crosswalk guards and out of work firefighters."

"I have to agree with the Xinglets," Haalima said with a giggle. She put her hand up to her mouth as she grinned. "As for the spandex, there are some things that I can't even make good. Hence the belly dancing and not ballet, or anything else requiring a unitard!"

"Oh," she added, still with a mischievous grin, "And if we get to look like firefighters, can I wear a hat? I always wanted to wear a fireman's helmet."

Mittens snickers at the "Ma" nickname threat.  "Yeah, Reaver IS made of win.  And yay singer!  Somehow I knew there was plenty of talent for the band.  Cowabunga!  Never occurred to me he was a TMNT.  As for fireproof spandex...  I've been looking into getting us more durable stuff, but... for now that's on the individual.  And I won't be wearing spandex.

"Thanks again, Angel.  This place is a godsend!  Not that the police station was noisy and crowded...  Ok it was noisy and crowded.

"And xinglets it is!  As for the firefighter outfits...  It may surprise you to learn that even those 14 to 16 years old can volunteer to join the Cadet Corps.  I was seriously considering joining myself.  Not that they'd let me run into a burning building, but they might make an exception for Tank here.

"Point being, to wear a firefighter uniform, you gotta be a fire fighter.  Which isn't to say that we won't.  Heck, we could start a fire house right here if we wanted to.  Having sirens on a vehicle would be handy for getting through traffic next time there's a crisis."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Michael listened while eating his pizza. He wasn't thrilled about having to wear the xinglet, but what can you do. As for the fireproofing, well,"We have a few other options for the fire proofing, or at least fire resistant clothing, assuming we could find the funds. The easiest, and lightest I can think of, is M5 fiber. From what I know, it is a bit hard to get a hold of though. However with it we wouldn't need to be running around in clunky firefighter outfits. M5 fiber could easily be worn under regular clothing. Also, it is capable of protecting from small arms fire. Not sure how we would get any of it though." He said the last part looking to Angel, as she gave the house, she may know how to get the material.

"Just curious, is the xinglet mandatory or are we going to have some other kind of symbol saying who we are?"
he asked Mittens.

Looking around he had another question,"Not sure if you guys went over this or not, but are we moving in here? Because this would be a heck of a lot better than the apartment I'm in now."

Angel nods to Mitts. "You're welcome."

Angel looks at Mike, "It's up to you, but it's more meant for people who don't have anywhere else to live, such as Diren. But if you would be saving money living here, I'll be happy to discuss expenses with you. After all, just because I donated the building doesn't mean the government is going to just pay our utilities. Currently, it's just me paying the utilities. But if anyone decides to help me with that, that would be great. As for materials for our work clothes, I can work on getting us that stuff."

"Spandex tends to look better drawn then in person with only a few exceptions."  Somehow, it still works out for Superman.  "Aside from the Adam West version, can you think of a Batman movie where he was wearing spandex?... Of course that would have been an improvement in some of them."  Batsuit nipple joke goes here, moving on.

"That, and while we probably want to impress people for the PR situation, dressing like stereotypical super heroes is the opposite of 'our job isn't actually to risk our lives doing crazy'.  And I keep getting informed life threatening crazy as our job is the wrong impression for me to give new people when they show up."

No, our job is completely safe...  Yes I know I'm wearing a bulletproof and flame retardant body suit, what does that have to do with anything?

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Levi listens intently to what everyone has to say. Once people start to talk about running into burning buildings and bulletproof clothing she shivers a little. “Were going to be shot at? I didnt know we were going to be shot at...” The little blue lady noted with a worried look on her face. Honestly she didn’t think the whole hero thing trough, her main objective was meeting people like her, or well, kinda like her. 'Well, every good thing has to have a bad side' Levi thought to herself. Yet getting shot at wasn’t one of the things she was looking forward too. She tries shaking the thought figuring its something to worry about when it will actually happen. “Heh, well, I hope we will be getting those bullet proof gear thingies soon, since I doubt any of us can dodge bullets very well.” she notes with an awkward smile.

“Xinglets sounds okay, though I wouldn't mind spandex... preferably danger proof spandex. And ooh, we could have masks and logo's on our belts and everything.” She's already imagining the costumes sets as she says this. The floating lady chuckles when she pictures the team in the hero outfits. it does seem a little wacky. “on second thought, maybe the Xinglets would be a better choice” she said with a mischievous grin. Than floops out a the comment: “Too bad though, It would have been an epic sight seeing everyone in tights.”

She oooh's at the fact people will be living in this house. Than flutters towards Angel out of excitement. “so were going to have sleepovers and late movie nights with snacks and soda and laughs and all?” The pink haired girl said with twinkles in her eyes. Its obvious the whole 'serous crime fighting team' thing hasn’t really sank into that somewhat scattered brain of hers, And Synch started to question if she really read the whole application sheet.

Sarah scratches the back of her head out of embarrassment, since she did hope to see her old friend again. Angel seemed to have looked straight trough her plan. “yeah...well...yeah, it would be nice to see him again. Aint seen him in like 2 years now...maybe longer. Yet it would be better if he got off his lazy ass and come visit here for once.” She quickly turns to the conversation about uniform when she hears the word spandex.

“some logo of the team? fine by me. The Xinglets I'll wear if I must... but I definably ain’t wearin' no spandex!” Sarah utters on an annoyed tone. “I'll have to agree with Joe on the matter. Half the town probably thinks were nuts for voluntarily running into danger, and hero costumes aint gonna help that.” though the true reason would be that she really hates tight clothing, thinking she'd definably look like an idiot wearing tights and it would make her bottom look humongous. She is glad to hear most people agree on the matter though.

“As for M being the singer of the band, I'm all for it.” The one eyed giant turns her head to the little fox lady and continues. “ Ya  have a nice voice and I bet ya can get the crowd in a good party mood.” She smiles and then kicks back in a relaxing pose with her feet on the edge of the table.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Synch just lets the conversations go as he isn’t too worried about the costumes or whatever. Levi's comments makes him want to face-palm once more, yet it was kinda funny hearing her actually consider the superhero outfits. he cant help but smirk a little, knowing Levi has probably imagined everyone in super hero get-ups. “M5 fiber isn’t going to be cheap, and seeing this group is  growing I think it might be way over the the budget we can cough up. Yet it would be a great help, from what I hear this job is going to be full of unknown hazards and its good to be well prepared for the unexpected.” Synch gives a quick glance to Michael and Angel before continuing. If there is any way to Synthesise it I’d be happy to try, yet I think the workshop isn’t equipped for such material. Anyway, I cant be certain until I can examine a sample, so tell me when either of you are going to scout for the stuff and I'd gladly accompany you. Who knows I'll learn a thing or two.

"Apparently I didn't communicate the purpose of the reflective vests vs. xinglets question," Mittens chuckles, "We're not deciding on a uniform that everyone must wear.  This is just basic safety gear.  Heck even grocery store helpers are wearing reflective vests these days.  And for good reason.  The idea is to not be run over by cars should ever we be needed in a dark place.  That's all.

"Joe and Sarah I think did a good job of explaining why we won't be running around in tights.  Though if you must see yourself in spandex, there's already plenty of digital art on the net with us dressed up like comic book heroes.  As for an actual logo and such, that's still in the works.  Once we decide, we could have some T-Shirts run with it on.  We can brainstorm logo ideas now if you like.

"Don't worry about utility costs, Angel.  Those who live here will be expected to pay for 'em with either money or labor.  Diren, I'd be happy to help get you an official job in the Citizen Patrol complete with real wages once the details are worked out if you're interested.

"As for bullet-proofing, I want to remind everyone here that as the group grows it will be important to stress that only a tiny fraction of us will be rushing into the teeth of danger should the need arise.  We've got applications pouring in from all over the globe, but very few of said applicants clicked the 'aid emergency services' box as a way they're willing to contribute.

"So.  Speaking of growth and recruitment, I want to let everyone know that we're hiring.  For all kinds of positions.  Obviously, as a non-profit, we're not going to pay big bucks.  But the offer's there.  For those willing to put in full time, there's a potential paycheck for those interested.  If you know anybody trustworthy looking for a full time job, please refer them to our recruitment duo: Emerald and Sarah.  I've got way too much on my plate to do much in the way of hiring."

Emerald smiles at Sarah. "Thanks, Sarah!" then listens to Mittens. "Spandex is useful in that it is both comfortable *and* durable, lasting through a lot of use. It's what athletes, such as bike racers wear. But it won't do the trick for making us fireproof or bulletproof. As Mike said, that's going to take serious resources. But resources well worth it. We are talking about saving lives and if our past experiences are any indication, we will need that stuff in the future to be more effective."

Liberty folds her arms. "Yeah... about the whole "rushing into danger" thing... I would do it over again if I had to, but I just know what's going to happen if I make a habit of rushing into danger as a member of the Citizen Patrol; They'll start saying "These people send little girls into exploding cars" as if you specifically target kids for dangerous activity. Currently, people praise us because they think of it as how we responded to a threat that popped up right then and there, without orders from anyone. But now that we are becoming known as an organization, they might start seeing me as a helpless girl naively doing as told rather than a concerned citizen trying to help. The point I am trying to get to is: Should we have an age limit? It kills me to think I might be kept from using my power for good, but it has to be asked."

Levi was relieved the moment she heard no one was shot at as of yet. But that soon changed when Joe continued about the dangers they did encounter. Her face slowly turned paler as she heard Joe's 'comforting' words. “ow...good...no bullets...” Levi said with some hesitation, while thinking: 'Eeeeek, I'm going to get myself killed here.' Still she wasn’t about to give up. She came here for a reason and no exploding cars were going to keep her from helping people out and making friends.

Synch just had to laugh about the things happening. Though it seemed the people here were quite diverse it was good to see they somewhat more like a family than a company.
