Re: Scene 3: Charity

Mittens figures from the lady's smile that she wasn't put off by the form and scans the agreement.  She raises an eyebrow that the police already signed, but...  well she's not that surprised.

"Again, thanks," she answers, turning to the group, "Quick break while I fax this to Law Guy!  Whoosh!"

Just before she exits, she turns to face Sarah and Joe.

"Dibs on the black lion robot!"

She then waves her cell phone at her bro and speed dials him before exiting the room.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Emerald also goes to curiously read the legalese papers and listens to what is said. But she says nothing for now, curious how the 16-year-old cat girl will handle things. Emmy has definitely noticed Halimaa's shy nature and will want to help the girl be a little more bold in the future. But so far, seems the tigerhorse has a halfway decent outlet with dancing. Hmm... that reminds her... Emerald goes to Halimaa and asks in a hushed tone so as not to disturb Mittens' conversation, "So Halimaa... I wanted to get with you about teaching me some dance moves. When would be good?"

Re: Scene 3: Charity

"I'm fairly certain my brain defaults to cynical and bitter." See the game title? Based on Marvel's Mutants-Die-Every-Three-Minutes.  That might be a reason.  "So if I get callous it may have already been the case.  Thanks though."

Joe will most likely facepalm when he finds out the proposed building would be sorta kinda a police building still.  "I'm hazy on the exact differences beyond wild paranoia Liberty."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah chuckles as she sees the surprises look on Timothius face. Concluding that confusing Tim is much more fun than a deep discussion about what place would suit the Citizens patrol best, she decides to go with the flow. “were gettig a new police station that can turn itself into several robots Tim. Seems your sis just claimed the coolest one, and I’m claiming the red ox so you'd better be quick if you want a good one.” Sarah says on an optimistic tone after Mittens calls dibs on the black robot. It's getting harder for her to not burst into laughter but she manages to hold it in for the sake of seeing Tim's reaction.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

"Well, um... About the money thing.  I was thinking, and I told Mitts already, that I could make stuff out of metal and sell it.  I mean, we can't just fully rely on donations, can we?  On an unrelated note, I think we should maybe possibly get permits for some form of weaponry.  I was thinking along the lines of swords and such that I could make.  I mean, from the few days I've been here we've already had to fight a dragon, and it probably doesn't get easier than this.". It may be hard to get him to talk, but when he does speak he says quite a bit.  Usually its some smart stuff, too.

Timothius eye-widens. "But.. Mittens never told me about that. I want the blue one." Is he fooled? Yeah. After all, he can FLY these days and has seen a flaming dragon attack the city. Anything's believable now. Well... almost anything.

Tim then answers his cell. "Yeah, Mitts?"

Joe considered Diren's suggestions.  "Well, I'd figure the least effort for same end results if you wanted to sell souvenirs would be commemorative coins... Except then you get into the hazy area of defacing money.  How do those machines that smash a penny into art for some quarters get away with that again?"

"Though I'm unfortunately too young for a concealed carry license, it would be convenient not to get into trouble for keeping blunt object on hand or something in the official sense."

"I called so I wouldn't miss out on what's being said," Mittens explains via cell phone, "Diren's suggestion for example.  Woulda totally missed that if I weren't on the phone with you.  You can let him know I've got something lined up for that.  I think he'll like the results."

Mittens proceeds to fax the papers to her lawyer acquaintance.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

The sound of steps was echoing from a corridor that leads to the room. Out came a man, escorted by two police officers  from each side. The man was quite tall and masculine, about 25 years old, hasn't shaved for a week or so. He wore dark blue jeans and a halfway buttoned shirt and a t-shirt underneath. The man’s hands we're handcuffed behind his back, he seemed quite annoyed but he was lightly smiling with a corner of his lip. The policemen escorted him in front of the group.
"Hello there"
 He slightly chuckled,
"My name is Edward. Edward Shepard. I would shake you're hand, but as you see I'm in a bind here"
Edward turned around exposing his cuffed hands, which we're quite odd. On his back of the hand there we're bones showing about 2 inches. Those we're thick bone claws. Pulled in enough to be less visible, but not fully, because it would cause bleeding.
He kindly smiled as he started to talk again
"Well, I have a proposition to you. You can help me, by helping me to help you, ain’t that a mouth full"
He giggled, but then is face got quite serious.
"Well, either I join you, or go to jail. I got into custody on helpin' a man that was attacked  by a group of punks, but i roughed 'em up a bit to much. They're alive and well. But apparently I'm supposed to stand by while BS like this happens."
He turned to one of the police officers with a  stone cold look on his face.
"We'll, so what will it be?"

As Mittens tells him what she tells him, Timothius looks at Diren and says, "Hey Diren. The god-pigeon says says she has something lined up for your idea already. And that you'll like it."

Enter Edward. Timothius responds to Edward's commentary about being arrested for helping people, "Sounds familiar..." as he remembers Sarah entering almost exactly the same way. Though he doesn't mention her name or even look at her as he doesn't want to embarrass the lady. Then looks at the cops. "Actually, Mittens put Ms Haynsworth and Ms Backers in charge of allowing people in the group." He points to Emerald and Sarah respectively as he mentions their names. "Though she's on the phone if you insist on talking to her about it."

Emerald walks over to the man. The tiny little fox gal looks him over and then looks at the cops saying, "Either way, he can stay here in the room with us for now if you officers don't mind him being here with us. Backers an' I will chat with him."

She looks back at Edward. "So far, sounds like a good guy." she gives him a smile. "Especially since his enemies survived." she half-mumbles.

Liberty stares as Edward enters. "Right. So now we know why we want to continue having our base of operations in a police station. Though I suppose the cops could always call us in if they arrest any other mutants..."

This young girl doesn't seem like anything more than a pretty face. But she is definitely news material and if Edward watches the news, he likely knows Liberty from what she has done either in the previous scenes, or simply stuff she did in the "what people know about this character" thread.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

As she sees Timothius surprised gaze from the promise of a morphing robot she bursts into laughter. “Aw…you’re too cute to deceive.” she says once the laughter subsides. Sarah bends over and tries to pet Timothius head until the new arrival walks in an escort. (OOC: Tim might dodge but she will keep trying.)

She clears her throat and tries to put up a serious face. As the man keeps it short and to the point she was able to listen to it without getting distracted. “Yeah, I know what that’s like.” The large one eyed redhead replies to Edward as he finishes. “I guess they don’t have much else to do than pick up people who ‘Might’ be a problem.” she adds sarcastically wile giving one of the officers a rather dirty look.

Once she gets mentioned by Tim a large smirk comes on her face. Sarah waits until Emerald and Timothius have spoken. “M, are we gonna interrogate him here or are we gonna move to a different room?” She asks Emerald and Than briefly turns her attention back to Timothius. “And would you stop calling me that? Ms Backers sounds so formal.”

Oh my, she thought as she looked worried, I wonder if all our new recruits are going to be brought to us in handcuffs... She put a furry hand up to her face and rubbed the end of her nose nervously.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Joe is having some issues deciding if the people brought in with handcuffs to join are a better thing or worse thing than those joining from lack of something more sensible to do.  Said issues because he's of the latter variety so there's some clear bias going there.  "I'd be able to make some form of comment about how they wouldn't appreciate us stabbing people.  But the last two problems we've dealt with were kinda blown up and I think my hypocrisy meter would break."

"Hmm, I will be honest with you"
He pauses for a second, tries to carefully place his words.
"I... am not a bad guy. I don't raise my hand against the defenseless, I would never hit a woman or a child. But I am most definitely not a good guy. My methods might be unorthodox, but if I am in a group I take full responsibility of my actions, and a group could keep me in line quite easy"
Edward gasps, takes a deep breath.
"The choice is yours, I told you my side of the story, but you obviously have trouble believing me because I'm brought to you cuffed. And that ain't somethin' you want on you're first impression. If you want we can proceed to interrogate me, or take a leap of faith. I respect you're decision whatever it might be."
He smiled with the corner of his lip, trying to avoid eye contact, not because he was lying, even if he did he could stare a person right in the eye and not Even flinch, but having you're future and freedom in someone else's hands is not the most confident feeling.

"This is Mittens," the cell phone in Timothius' hand says, "And I approve of what my bro just said.  Emmy and Sarah can handle recruitment.  Thanks again, you two!"

The police officer nods.  "Alright then," he says, "I'll leave you the keys.  Return them and the cuffs with or without him in them when you're done."

He offers the keys to Emerald before exiting.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Emerald takes the keys. She is holding in how hilarious irony can be. A cop just HANDED her keys to the cuffs of a prisoner! She glances over her shoulder at Sarah. "Here's fine."

She waits, watching the cop leave before looking at Edward. "Lighten up, kiddo." says the 3 foot tall fox to the burly Wolverine guy. "You're among friends." she un-cuffs him. Which is technically the first test. She twirls the keys around in her left hand while offering her right hand for a shake. "Name's Emerald Haynsworth. Now that you can shake, let's shake." she gives him a smile.

Timothius gives that cute unsure smile some kids give when hair-scruffled that way. Of course, touching him as usual gives that feeling well sensation. "Yes, ma'am. Sorry. Upbringing... what do you want me to call you then?" he looks at Angel. "Err... Miss? Please make yourself comfy... my sis is normally faster than this, but well... lawyer papers." that last part said in semi disgust. "Mitts, we really gotta treat every well-meaning, gift-giving person this way?" he says to the phone.

Angel goes to have a seat. She crosses her legs and answers Tim, "Don't worry, Timothius. Since this guy just walked in, it's kind of a bonus. I get to see how you bunch operate outside of fighting flaming dragons and water elementals." She has a point. So far, this group's people skills have involved annoying people and saving lives. Not much in between.

Edward can barely hold his laughter after Emerald called him kiddo.
"Ha ha! You got it, boss"
He smiled putting his right hand forward for a handshake. Giggling at the amazing sense of humor that the small fox girl has. He felt a bit like a giant standing next to her. Edward looked over at Tim, a small cat like boy. He seemed a bit worried. No wonder, Edward looked like a man but with being a bit hairy and haven't shaved he looked like a wolf-man. Shepard just gave Tim a careful smile, trying to break the ice a bit. He scratched his beard.
"Hmm.. So what happens now? I've been here for about a week or so. I could use a shower and some food, so if you're done here we could go eat out? If you're busy that's fine."
He giggled.
"Haha, I can survive without that for a bit, I'm sure."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Emerald considers teasing the guy and asking if she can watch him shower, but first impressions and all. "Eating out sounds good. I can wait if you need your shower first, though." where did the keys she was twirling go? Oh look, the cuffs are now gone too. When did she do that? Sleight of hand. Gotta love it. "Hey Sarah, I'll be right back. Gotta go turn in the cuffs and keys. Big boy's yours for now." she says before heading out.

She'll be sure to ask the officer how she can get a hold of her very own metal cuffs with keys. She already knows, but it'll be fun to watch a cop either amused or embarrassed. As it stands, though the Citizen Patrol has been equipped with zip ties for a quick citizen's arrest.
