Re: Scene 3: Charity

She nods to Emerald when she tells her the talk will be in this room. Sarah had hoped to take the conversation outside but luckily Timothius had somewhat solved her problem. Of all the powers of the people Sarah recently met she liked Tim’s ability best. It was kind of like a ‘healing feel good touch’ and it almost makes her forget she wants to smoke…almost. She smiles back at the short furry kid and replies “Most people just call me Sarah or Red ya know… though I’m open to suggestions if they don’t include Ms. at the beginning.”

Sarah chuckles as she sees Emerald messing with an officer again. “Don’t worry M, I got it, just be back soon or the ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine is gonna fail” than she turns her head towards Edward and says “Erm…Edward was it? Come, take a seat, I’ll have this pile cleaned up in no time.” She takes her seat again and plucks one of the cigarettes off the heap that she made earlier today. She than placed the cigarette behind her ear and pulls an empty bag of tobacco from her coat that she fills with the rest.

In the way she sits it's safe to say she probably doesn’t wear a skirt too often. She had rested both her feet on the edge of the table and had bent her upper body between her legs to reach the cigarettes.  “Ya want a cup a coffee Ed? You look like you could use a cup. Mind if I call you Ed? I’ll inform ya about the details of the group later, but we’re first gonna talk a bit about you.” The one eyed redhead said with what seemed like one breath. First impressions had never been one of Sarah’s greater concerns. As a matter of fact she rarely cared what most people thought of her. She did however take much joy in the job they assigned her, and she would do it to the best of her abilities.

Shepard replied with a smile.
„I'm a big man, I need a good meal. The food here is bloody terrible“
After Emerald left he turned to Sarah, slightly confused. Wether he should give her a smile, or stay stone cold as her. She was quite a charming lady, besides the eye-patch thing.
Edward decided to try to smile at her, receiving a mouthfull of words.
He sat down on a chair in front of her.
„Aahh , yes please. I would love me some coffee.“
Seeing her pack all those cigarettes away he wondered how is she still breathing, assuming she smokes that amount per day. A bit suprised he got a tad bit more serious.
„Yes, sure. We can talk. What about?“
He raised his eye-brow expecting a interogation without the torture.
'Shouldn't try to say somethin' that they ain't need to hear. First impressions and all.'
Shepard thought to himself.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Mits offers Emerald a high five as the cat girl passes the fox girl on their ways in and out respectively.

"May not be a manwitch," she says, "But I brought PBJ's if you want a snack to hold you over for a more sumptuous meal, Mr. Shepard.  I want to start by assuring you that this is no interrogation any more than a friend asking another friend what their favorite kind of music is.  You mentioned you're not a 'good guy.'  I'm curious how you would define a 'good guy.'  Would spending a lot of your free time healing the sick count?"

She stands proudly nest to Timothius and gestures at him to indicate who she means.

"Or perhaps risking death by electrocution to defeat a raging monster?"

She indicates Joe.

"Or jumping into a burning care to save a mother and her baby?"

She indicates Liberty.

"Whom do you admire?  Whom would you call a good guy?"

Re: Scene 3: Charity

„Hello Miss... Uhh.. Mittens“
He smiles, not really knowing how to address her. Shepard offered his right hand for a handshake to her.
„Please, no „Mr.“ Feels really too formal. Please, its just Shepard, or Eddy.“
Edward was so hungry he couldn't take his eyes of the PBJ's.
„Umm... PBJ's would be just awesome, haven't had those in years. I don't go to charities, the biggest test of my bravery was takin' a bullet for some man that was attacked by a bunch of punks.“
He wondered for a second on how to set his words.
„I'm pretty sure I can call them good guys for that. Most of the situations I'm in don't end well for one party. I have never killed a man, but often times I have to defend myself. I've gotten' to the point where I don't even try just to disarm, those people, or just scum who's living is thieving, killing or harassing. I developed a certain... Spite towards them. I don't much believe that people can change. Some can. But most remain“
Shepard got very serious. He seemed almost like a wise old man sitting there, carefully picking his words.
„And that is definitely not a part of being good. I can't see the good in everyone. For those people to be redeemed they have  along way ahead. And me to, for hurting them. Even tho someone had to knock some sense into them“
'Wow, this got real deep' Shepard couldn't help but think to himself. 'If I will fight on the same side of the barricade as them, might as well try to clear the doubt in them by being honest'.

Timothius mews at Sarah. "What if I nickname you honey? It's sticky and fits your power..." he says with a light smile. "Gluegun... Stayput..." he starts quietly thinking up different names to call Sarah. When he hears Ed say his piece, Timothius sweatdrops. He just looks at Mittens and nods with a smile, not even having to say anything as he thumbs at Edward.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Emerald definitely gave Mittens a high-five in passing. She soon arrives from her little run and says, "So we eating out or ordering in?" she smiles brightly, swishing her tail as she looks about and notices Timothius and Liberty both seem to be positive about this Edward guy already. Emerald looks at Sarah. The irony of Emerald nicknaming Sarah "red" would be pretty high. She hasn't decided yet, though.

"To be fair, I was pretty sure I wouldn't die."  Of course, such a saying would likely be something many a Darwin Award winner would say had they survived.  Joe was also wondering which direction on the fuzzy types to not fuzzy types ratio Edward put them at considering he looked a touch like classic wolfman due to shaving deprivation.

Nicknames time!  Winner for 'fitting yet too annoying to mention' Sarah nickname is, Slow.  Her power does such, and it gives a valid excuse to say 'She's Slow' all the time.  Shortly followed by getting defenestrated by Sarah... Hmm, tempting considering it probably wouldn't hospitalize him.

"I'd think the sammiches would point to 'in'.  At least so far as Edward's snack goes."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

“Mits is right, this aint really an interrogation, but its kinda required to get to know ya” She sais while she puts her feet back on the ground, than smirks while Mittens offers the sandwich and almost naturally gets the man to talk. Sarah gets distracted (as She does ever so often) by a mewing Tim who had come up with the cutest little nicknames.

“Honey eh? Might be a bit too sweet for my taste” She smiles at Timothius and continues “Now Stayput has a nice ring to it, still a bit long though but it’s nice to see your making an effort.” ‘Its been a good distraction from life as she knew’ Sarah thinks as she sees Tim doing his best to think up a fitting name. Everyone in this group has always been good to her…or at least never judged her for who she was.

Than when Edward had said his piece she turns her head to him with a grin and says “yeah, I know what ya mean. I’ve had my share of idiots crossing my way and most of em still regret it. Lucky for us it don’t take a hero to do some good.” To some surprise Sarah had been listening to what Edward had been saying. She gets out of her chair and takes a look around at the group as she continues. “Now I figure M is gonna want a say in this but  I think ya passed the initiation. Most of the group seems glad with your arrival and we sure could use a hand.” She scratches the back of her head and turns to Mittens. So Mits, can you do the introduction talk? About us and what we do and why ‘n stuff. I still owe the man a cup a coffee… So anyone else want something to drink? I’m only gonna ask once ya know.” She looks around for a second time to see if anyone wants something.

OOC: Lol, Slow wouldn’t be such a bad nickname for Sarah. ^^ and though she’d probably punch you for it I think your safe from hospitalization… unless your going to make a lot of pirate jokes. :P

Mittens scoops up one of the ziplock bagged PBJ sandwitches and tosses it at Edward like a ninja star!  "WACHA!" she karate-calls, "Secret flying PBJ technique!"

She then double points at the coffee machine.

"Super secret home-brew coffee hot and ready to go!"

"But since we're on the topic of names, no need to call me 'Miss' Mittens.  Rather, you can call me by my new superhero name: PALADIN!"

She proudly displays a picture of herself on the cover of a magazine fighting a fire dragon!

"We should totally get ourselves hero names!  Sarah could be Stop Sign because she's red and stops villains in their tracks!  Joe could be 'N The Ninja!'  Haalima could be Dance Goddess!  Liberty: Tank!  Timothiu: Angel... but we've got an Angel in the room, so that'd be confusing.  Hmm...

"Oh!  Right!  Sarah asked me to give the pitch.  Ok here goes.  The Citizen Patrol is a non-profit organization who's purpose is to assist the city's existing emergency forces, namely the police, fire protection, paramedics, etc as best we can with our unique abilities.  Membership is open to persons of all backgrounds, be they guy or gal, young or seasoned, human or otherwise.  Willingness to give of yourself to help others is all that is needed to join.  (That and passing the two red-haired girls' scrutiny.)

"That said, we do have a secondary goal of providing a place where 'biologically different persons' can safely aid their community with their abilities without having to worry about working outside the law while doing so.

"As for meal options, I suggest we go to this place Angel is offering and eat there."

Haalima's ear twitched when her name was mentioned by Mittens. She stopped staring out the window and turned her attention back to the conversation. She had spaced out a bit, and though she had heard what was said she wasn't really listening. "Dance Goddess," she mumbled under her breath, "that's a terrible superhero name..."

The huge horse girl's ears perked forward at the mention, again, of PB&J sandwiches. "Oooo," she said as she got up from her seat and leaned forward. "Can I have one? Are they strawberry jelly? I haven't had a PB&J since I was a kid!" She had a look of child-like wonder on her face. PB&J was something her father had always made her when she was little, so they held good memories for her.

„You're ninja skills are inferiour“

„Hehe, Thank you, i ahven't had one of theese in years!“
After listening to Mittens introduction about the citizen patrol Shepard kindly smiled, and said in a calm voice.
“Seems like right the place and people I would like to be with”

Sarah smirks as Mittens double points at the coffee machine. “Guess the good thing about working in a police station is that they always have a hot cup o’ coffee ready.” Than goes too get drinks for everyone who wanted.

A little later Sarah comes back with a tray and serves the drinks. She was in time to hear Edwards pirate imitation. “Well well, Captain is it? Pillaging and plundering is probably out of the question but I bet this job will have plenty of adventure to keep ya busy.” She says to Edward with a grin as she places a cup in front of him. She than gives a cup of coffee to Haalima. Having noticed Halimaa had been a little spaced out Sarah figured she could use a cup. Once done with serving Sarah takes her seat.

Haalima smiled at Sarah and took the coffee from her. "Thank you."

She then unwrapped the sandwich and grabbed a plastic knife and set about doing some surgery on her sandwich. Haalima cut it in half from corner to corner, making two neat triangles. She picked both halves up and offered one to Diren. "Here. I'll share with you, just in case you don't like it," she said with a smile.

Joe wonders if the fact 'Stayput' is one letter away from 'Staypuft'.  "Even though it's a reference to a Freeware game, I'd prefer to avoid copyright infringement name.  Though I think Joe works fine anyways, not to mention is shorter than most made up names."  Quickly Jumps Very High And Reasonably Resistant To Blunt Trauma Man! We must... What was I talking about again?

He looks over to Angel and says "I think your idea is better than packaged sandwiches.  Though we'll probably have to wait until we clear Edward and the ensuing paperwork hassle... Unless the place delivers."  On to a mildly more serious outlook, he asks Diren "Where exactly did you live right now again?  If anywhere?"   Okay, so the 'building of your own' thing could help for the various sorts that don't have conveniences such as housing and a source of income.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Mittens blows up on her hair, eye-rolls, and shrugs at Liberty's commentary.  And her lack of commentary on the name "Tank."  Haalima, Edward, and Joe too all seem to either reject or joke about her ideas.  ;.;  Oh well.  It's for the best she didn't think of anything for Diren then.

"Diren's been staying with Timothius and myself," she answers, "If we were to have a full-time building of our own, having at least one person there full time probably could be a good thing... if he wanted a change of scenery.  Thanks for offering him a taste, Haalima.  Thoughtful and practical.  Less waste if he doesn't like it.

"Since we're being practical, let's make a grocery store stop on the way to the new place and pick up what we're hungry for there rather than order food.  Much more affordable that way.  The coffee maker isn't police station property.  It's my own, so I'll be taking that with.

"As for Edward's release...  Assuming Emerald doesn't give a thumbs-down, I'll just sign the release form like I did for Sarah.  I'm glad you're liking the group so far, Edward.  I think it's safe to say that we're liking you so far.

"Once Emmy gives the go-ahead, please lead the way, Angel."

She packs up the coffee maker and such into the cooler she brought them in, and within moments is ready to go!

Emerald huhs? "Once I give the go-ahead? Sure. Let's go."

Liberty is seen mulling over something. "Tank..." she says quietly with a small smile. Wouldn't take much for Mittens to notice.

Let's skip all the parts that slow down the skit, shall we?

The group shops, gets food at the grocery store, and by the time they get to the place Angel has for them, most of them are hungry again. Emerald gets to preppin' the food. Unless someone else happens to insist on doing it instead, that is. Though she readily accepts help in the kitchen, regardless.

Image of our new place:
http://www.well.com/~wolfy/NE-...4-2003-0927-1329.jpg

Description of the place:
The place is actually beach-side (as opposed to lake-side) and rather homely. The rooms feel like bedrooms, looking much like some kind of summer home or something. There is an entertainment room that has a pool table, a home theater system, and even... a bar? The entertainment "room" is actually the entire second floor. The bedrooms are on the top floor. The bottom floor is much more like a living room and such, complete with fireplace. It has its own TV and, well, it's where the kitchen is. One of the fancier things about the place, besides the nice view, is the fact the kitchen has a "bottle elevator" for sending food, bottles of beer, etc up to the second floor.

"Well it was nice staying with you, but i wouldn't mind moving into the new place."  He takes a bite out of the PB&J, and says "Hey, this is good!  Thanks Haalima."

<Going to the new place.>

"Woah... This place is awesome!  I've never been in a house like this before, but since i've only been inside like 3 different actual houses, that doesn't count for much." He heads upstairs and eyes the pool table, wondering what it is.  If anyone else came up, and was still there, he would ask "Hey, what's this for?" while pointing at the pool table.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah raised an eyebrow as Mittens mentions it’s her coffee machine. Though the coffee did taste too good to be the police station standard brand she hadn’t expected it to be hers. A couple of cigarettes later Sarah gladly helps out with shopping since she had to do a little shopping of her own anyway.

<Arriving at new place>

When they enter Sarah couldn’t help but be amazed. On the outside it looked pretty nice but she hadn’t expected it to be completely furnished. “Woah is right kid.” She says as Diren exclaims his amazement. “This must be every waxhead’s dream house.” She was starting to wonder just how much money Miss Bard got, since she can just give away a place like this without anything in return. With this in mind Sarah walks to the kitchen and starts packing the refrigerator with the groceries and drinks. As she sees Emerald getting ready to start cooking Sarah figures she could lend a hand. “So what are we making M?” Sarah asks while putting on an Apron.

„Ahh, thanks.“
He said with a smile. He took the coffee. Thinking to himself where did Diren grow up. Even Shepard has had a PB&J before.

<Arriving to the new place>

Shepard has just trimmed his beard by now, all squeaky clean from the shower, tho since he didn't shave, he almost seemed the same again. The beard seemed to grow abnormally fast.
“Umm, guys? We're gonna live here? When do we get to bring our stuff?”
Edward was just plainly amazed by the house. He was so used to living in small one room studio apartments on blow up mattresses. Wondering about how is his guitar and liqueur cabinet.
“Eh, Red? Mind if I call you that?”
Shepard smiled, so he won't seem rude calling her that.
“Mind sharing some smokes? This is a hell of a lot to take in.”

Besides... a friend of mine showed me once how to make restaraunt-quality stuff."

<Freakazoid Scene Transition>

Oh good, it's a sanely designed building.  A pleasant one at that.  "I don't think we have to live here if it's inconvenient and we already have a place Edward.  Unless there's some small print in the deal where we all move in like a sitcom."  He doesn't mention the fact that a beachfront property is probably as far away from the city citizens supposedly patrolling it can get.

Because sometimes, logic can just shut up in favor of 'hey, nice building'.
