Scene 3: Charity

Things were "calming down" from the last encounter. Investigators are getting a bit more serious about looking into the elemental business and see why it's going on or if there will be more in the future. PETA wound up protesting the protesters though at a cost. PETA is now visiting the police station often and for Emerald, Haalima, Mittens and Timothius, this is an inconvenience. Thankfully, PETA has learned to respect boundaries to some degree (Mittens can get VERY annoying when she wants to. And still seem like a friendly person).

The heroes are all rested up, feeling better, and generally recuperated from the battle with the dragon. The kid's suicidal tendencies really were strictly related to drug overdose. Between him, the rescued children and the criminal, it has all landed a LOT of cred for the Citizen Patrol heroes.

But today is different. Today, the group is in the middle of being taught the basics of police procedure (so they don't wind up with criminals who get off the hook for any reason) when in steps a young lady.

The lady has a light-brown tone to her skin, could be mistaken as black, Latino or Caucasian, depending on how she's dressed, lighting, and who is looking at her. She has black, loose wavy hair that goes about halfway down her back.  She has eyes that seem to be a powerful blue that can sometimes be mistaken as purple. The woman carries herself with an air of confidence. She's wearing a white business outfit (the kind with a skirt), red blouse, and is holding a palm pilot. She smiles and waits for the others to give her a chance to speak before saying, "Hello. I'm Angel Bard and I'm here to offer you a place you can call your own."

(Her general appearance, although this pic is old and is from the Gundam setting: http://timothius.deviantart.co...ery/?q=angel#/dbwb96 )

Emmy isn't sure at first. This is too good to be true and nothing good in life comes for free. There HAVE to be strings attached. But, she isn't the leader of this group. So she just puckers her lips in a silly thought posture before glancing at Mittens with a "what do you think" look to her face.

Timothius and Liberty both crack smiles, the young, naive kids that they are, and have hopeful looks on their faces.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

"Thank you for your support!," Mittens answers eagerly before switching to an apologetic smile, "That said, The Citizen Patrol has been swamped with offers.  Mostly from advertisers who want to give us 'free' stuff in exchange for sponsorship.  But our rep isn't for sale.  We will only consider advocating charitable organizations, and will accept only anonymous, and so far not even tax-deductible, donations.  Some pro-bono lawyer told me that this form will protect us from unexpected strings attached to donations."

She offers a donation form to Angel.

"That said, my name is Mittens, and this is Detective Bagrowski, Diren, Emerald, Haalima, Joe, Liberty, Sarah, and Timothius.  Nice to meet ya!  May I ask more detail about what you're offering?"

Re: Scene 3: Charity

"I will admit that while the room isn't exactly large, we are surrounded by Police Officers when we're here." A detail that had already helped prevent direct angry mob firebombing.  As well as more enthusiastic happy fan insanity.  "I will admit temptation if there is a giant combining robot involved.  Maybe a lack of concealed security devices."  Not that they were exactly in private at the Police Station, but there was less likelihood of their less politically correct rambling or bathroom trips recorded.

OOC Style: *Dramapoints at Angel* You taped your own family in the shower!...  Wait, that was a different Angel Bard in a different setting.  I'm sure this one is completely trustworthy!

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Sarah had been paying more attention to the ceiling than to the lecture about police procedures. She had rolled about 25 cigarettes that were displayed as a little pile on the table in front of her, and though she had almost fallen asleep twice she did manage to let everyone finish talking without making one remark. ‘A thing to be proud of’ Sarah thought as she did a good stretch.

The first thing that came to mind when Miss Bard offered a place was ‘But I got a place of my own…?’ But it soon became apparent the lady meant for the Citizens Patrol and not a place for everyone individually. So she decided it might be best for her to keep her mouth shut for a bit longer. She raised her hand a little as a greeting when Mittens did the introduction.

Once Joe had added his demands to the discussion Sarah leaned back into her chair and decides to join the conversation with a few ideas of her own. “Well… we could use a place to train. A place to rehearse would be nice, as would be a place to get together and plan something against dragons and stuff. Should I make a list?” than she turns her head to Joe and smirks as she says “don’t worry Joe, I’ll add the giant robot as priority number one.”

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Haalima looked shy when her name was said, and waved her clawed fingers just a bit. As usual, she was never quite sure how people would react to her. Though she didn't know why she cared. Obviously this person would be familiar enough with them to know what they all looked like and wouldn't be shocked by her. Still, the fear was there.

Along with the fear of PETA showing up again. She loved her fluffy animals, but boy did PETA scare the beegeezies out of here. She shuddered just thinking about them.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Angel is smiling the entire time, a hand on a hip as she listens. She idly thumbs at Sarah when Sarah answers for her what Joe was inquiring. "Think of it this way, Joe, Firefighters have Firestations. Doctors have Hospitals. The police have this place. And you will have your own. You may work alongside the cops like Firemen and Doctors do, but make no mistake, you are not police."

She then looks at Mittens and chuckles. She hands Mittens a different piece of paper while looking at the donation form like it's cute. "You know the old saying. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I understand your reaction, but the fact is I'm not here because I want fame or popularity. Frankly, I already have that. I'm here because you all are heroes and I want to show support. Simple as that."

The paper Angel handed Mittens describes details in legalese about Angel's offer. Which is, simply put, that she is handing over use of a medium sized building (about the size of the police station, so obviously bigger than the SINGLE ROOM the group has had so far). The building is owned by both Angel and the Police (who have already signed) and will be co-owned by the Supergroup if their "responsible party" signs on the paper.

"Take it or leave it." she says, "But either way, I'm here to say in person; thanks for saving the city."

Angel then glances around at the heroes and then back to Mittens. "But line forming or not, beware of becoming callous. Just because a bunch of stuffy-nosed business executives want to try taking advantage of you doesn't mean you should think of gifts or praise as a bad thing."

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Tim isn't even paying that much attention to the grown-ups talking at this point and goes to play a connect-the-dots game with Cell. Though when he hears Sarah speaking up about putting a giant robot as top priority, his interest goes right back to the adults' conversation. He gives Sarah and Joe a "huh?" look.

Re: Scene 3: Charity

Liberty hurries over to Mittens to curiously examine the paper. "On the surface, my knee-jerk reaction is to agree with you, Joe. But being in a police station didn't stop protesters from showing up. And it certainly won't stop flaming dragons from attacking. So... what difference does it make? Beside having more room like Sarah suggested?"
