Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

The sun is setting on late summer afternoon.  Clear skies and warm.  This police station is comparatively small - only 2 floors and a basement, but it has a parking lot in the back for employees where most who smoke go for some fresh air.  The chief doesn't want people seeing the officers "loafing about" at the front of the building, so there's lots of "no smoking" signs at the front.

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Michael heads out the back door to the parking lot that is used as the smoking lounge for the officers. He leans against the bike rack and pulls out a cigar that looks to be already partway gone, with only an inch or two are left. He holds the flame for Sarah to use before lighting his cigar and taking a puff. It seems he is content to sit in silence and stare into space. If you look closely, he looks a bit more relaxed out here than he did inside the police station.

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Sarah Stretches as she come outside. ahh, freedom at last. she says as a sign of relief. She accepts the offer of light and remains silent for a bit. She had expected Michael to start the conversation but it seemed he was satisfied with silence. Sarah tried not to disturb him for a wile, waking in circles with her hands in her packets. After about half a minute she couldn’t take it anymore. So… What brought you to join the group? she tried some small talk to pass the time. She wasn’t planning on going back until she had seen some reporters leave, so she figured she’s just as well try to make it a comfortable wait.

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Michael watched as Sarah did a few small laps around the parking lot. She didn't seem as at ease with silence as him and made an attempt at conversation. Michael shrugged and seemed to be looking for the right words. "My father," he said slowly, almost looking pained before continuing,"was an officer. I never had his discipline to do the same, but I like helping people." He took another puff of his cigar and let the smoke go slowly, make rings. "You?" he asked. He knew from talking to Bill, but figured it wouldn't hurt to hear it in her own words.

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

“Me?” She pointed at herself, stating the obvious.  "Well, I had the choice between a cell or helping people out. And since I don’t have any problem with helping people out I considered that to be the best option for me." She stopped for a second to take a puff of her cigarette. Than she placed her hand on her chin and looked up for a bit, as if she was thinking of something. "Now that I think about it, Helping people out is what got me into this mess. A classic case of “No good deed goes unpunished”. But I guess now that I’m in some kinda super team they’ll be giving me some more slack." she smirked once having said that and took another puff, waiting for Michael’s reaction after her explanation. She wasn’t going to pry on about his reasons since she didn’t want to trouble him too much.

Michael shrugged and looked a bit confused. "You were helping someone and they sent you to jail? Seems a bit harsh. How'd it go down?" he asked still puffing away at the last of his cigar.

Sarah didn’t mind explaining the details, so with a grin she tells him “Well, it was kinda like this. I tried to help this fellow who was eating some fist in an alleyway. It was pretty clear he was getting mugged. So I ran at em and kicked the mugger in the face. Turns out the fellow couldn’t take a hit. Not long after that the police showed up…and well, since most of them know me by now they kinda figured I was the bad guy in the story.” She stops for a second to extinguish her cigarette by pressing it against the wall of the police station. “Anyhow” she continues while pulling the bag of tobacco from her pocket once more. “That dude I kicked is still occupying a bed in a hospital at the moment. Though it wasn’t my intention, I can’t say I’m very sorry for it. As I figure he got what was coming to him. . She saw that Michael’s cigar was starting to get pretty short. you want one too? she asked holding up the cigarette she just finished.

Michael shook his head and said,"Thanks though." He took the last few puffs and then dropped the butt on the ground, putting it out with his foot. "So I thought you said your powers were for moving things. How'd you learn to fight so well you put a man in the hospital?"

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Sarah chuckled for a moment. Nobody ever told her she fought well, though she did get a comment once about being ruthless. She started to like this guy. Though he was somewhat on the silent side, he didn’t prejudge about Sarah being reckless or stupid or anything. “I guess it came from years of dedication and experience. Having some weight backing up a punch helps too.” she said with much self-satisfaction in her voice. “Though to be honest, that one incident wasn’t much of a fight. I kicked him, he flew back a bit and hit his head on one of the trashcans. So I shook him a little to try and get him to awake up, but it didn’t help. Seems it was a one hit wonder.” She lit up her cigarette and continued. “Now if you ask any of the bartenders or police officers in town, they will probably have some juicier stories about me. I’m especially fond of the nickname Ishida gave me. He used to call me: The Bouncing barmaid. Mainly because I was never any good at sitting still. The other reason was cause once the bouncer failed, I’d usually climb over the bar and finish the job.” she said with a smug look as she pointed at herself again. She kept her cigarette in the corner of her mouth and didn’t bother taking it out once. Sarah was rather good at smoking and talking simultaneously since she did it regularly. “Though that habit kinda got me fired again in the end… But it aint no mutant power or anything, and I think anyone with some good training can still kick my ass into next week. As for my powers, they are a little strange. I can’t really move things, but I can make things move a little faster or slower. My power works best when stuff doesn’t move though. I can sorta glue stuff to its spot, making it nearly impossible to move. But enough about me, what about you? Bet ya got a kick ass power of your own.” Sarah was a real blabbermouth once she started talking, but she didn’t want to keep on yapping without giving Michael much of a chance to reply. His silent nature made it all the more interesting to try and get some information or reaction out of him she thought. Sarah knew she was going to work with him for a wile and didn’t want to start off on the wrong foot. So she tried something that doesn’t come very natural to her, namely subtlety.

OOC: Michael might recognise the name Ishida as one of the bartender’s name of a bar in town.

"So your the one Ishida was talking about," Michael said with a glint in his eyes, the closest to a smile you have seen. "He definitely has some...colorful stories. As for my power," he shrugged," it looks good on paper, but not so much in practice. I can teleport, but I need to focus more the farther I'm going, so no porting during a fight. Good for getting the drop on people though."

Sarah laughs at the comment about Ishida, knowing that he’s as much a blabbermouth as she is. Sounds like a nice trick. she replies to the explanation of Michaels powers. Somewhat annoying that you gotta concentrate to do it, but still a very useful skill in a pinch. Can you port other people too? Or is it just a one man ride?

Michael thought about it for a moment before saying,"I can move others, but it takes a lot more concentration."

At that moment someone walked out. "Hey, Michael," Detective Bagrowski says, "Mittens gave the reporters the boot.  There must be more to the meeting or something...  She asked me to let you know the coast is clear to come back."

Michael nodded and said,"That's fine. We will be in in a moment. Do me a favor, will you? Open the window in the office, the screen included."

The detective agrees, but doesn't know why, and walks back inside.

She releases a sigh of relief hearing the reporters were gone. When she hears Michael’s comment about opening the window she kind of guessed what his plan was. She waits for the detective to leave and than asks: “you gonna port yourself there?” As she points towards the office. She puts the sigarette out against the wall again and than leans towards Michael. “I’d love to join ya for the ride if it aint too much of a bother.”

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

"Might as well show the group my power," he said to her as she guessed what he was about to do. Michael had a strange look on his face, which in itself was strange as he had shown very few emotions. It seemed to be he was a bit embarrassed. "Well, in order to take someone with me, or anything for that matter, I need to be holding it, er them." He attempted to regain his composure, but didn't do to well. He hadn't planned this out well at all."One year and you are already flirting? You are terrible." he thought. "God I need a drink."

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Sarah loved trying out strange things and she was rather curious about what teleporting was like. “I bet they’d love a little show up there.” she said with a grin as she thought of the surprised faces of the group when they would port inside. Than she notices Michael’s embarrassment as he explains that he needs to be holding her. She doesn’t mind since she really wanted to know what teleporting is like and thinks it’s rather cute that he’s embarrassed about it. To tease him a little Sarah puts her hands on Michael’s shoulders. She grin as she comes a closer to him. “so, anything else I need to know? she says on a teasing tone. any chance of me turning inside out while porting? …And what would happens if you accidentally let go when we’re moving?” She tries not to come too close, but close enough to make it a little more uncomfortable for Michael.

OOC: She doesn’t know Michael has to hold her off the ground, so she thinks that if he hols onto her that would be enough.

Michael is back under control, his face showing only his normal almost scowl, which grows deeper as Sarah teases him a bit. He answers her questions by saying,"I wont let go. However, I said holding. Not merely touching." He moved quickly, one arm behind her back and the other attempts to sweep her off her feet.

OOC: had to edit:/ I had a decent amount more, but I realized I needed Sarah to react first before I could post it. My bad.

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Sarah was somewhat surprised at Michael’s quick movement, but didn’t do anything against being lifted up. She wanted to make another teasing comment about having to be carried but reconsidered when she saw Michael’s expression. The man was giving her a free and rather unique ride, so she decided the give it a rest. She put her arm over his shoulders and held tight, not knowing what would happen exactly. "all set." she said with much delight. The smoke break and the little teleport adventure they were about to have had put her in a pretty good mood.

Re: Central Park Pct. Police Dept. 86th St & Transverse Rd

Once Sarah is all set, Michael locked his eyes on the room through the window. It took him a little time to focus, as having someone that close was a bit of a distraction.

Sarah may notice the mantra beads, which had been pressing into her back, have disappeared. She will only have a moment to realize this before the two of them are thrown into a great darkness with wind rushing all around them. Nothing can be seen and nothing but wind can be heard.

A few officers are outside smoking and see what is happening. They make a few snide comments as Michael picks Sarah up and then proceeds to stand there. However, they can do nothing but gape when the two vanish into thin air right in front of them.
