Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens chuckles and gives Sarah a wry smile.

"Brought you a beer, didn't I?" she asks rhetorically with a wink, "But your right.  I haven't had the privilege of going to any of your concerts in person yet.  I just found the music online when I looked up your name.  Very fun stuff!  You may be right about the style point, but it sounded to me like you're open to variety, so I think I can make it happen.  And yes!  Cheers to the birth of the worlds most awesome band!  I'm mostly fond of power metal myself, but I'm nowhere near fast enough for it yet.  I'd love to meet this friend of yours, though!"

Mittens really appreciates Sarah's smile and it's making her melt.  She gives an endearing smile back.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

She had to laugh about the kid’s optimism. It wasn’t even certain if the band was going to be formed and already it was the most awesome band in the world. “Power metal ay” she said while thinking it was probably a good match with the hyper kitty. “Than I guess you and my friend are going to get along just fine. Don’t get scared off by his appearance, he’s a real sweaty beneath all the tattoos and the mean look.”

“It’s too bad ya never seen us play, I bet you’d have liked it. We had a lot more energy on stage than on our records.  Did allot of request songs too since we did covers anyway, usually messed them up but it was fun.” Sarah came out of her chair and went over to Mittens. “For your bands style I suggest choosing something that fits with the message you want to send out to the crowd. From there you can always try and mix it up with other stuff. Personally I’m best with anything that swings, but I’ve been know to play anything that’s up-beat or just plain strange.”

She bends a bit too pet Mittens on the head, messing up her hair. It was almost like having a cute little sister, one that knew more about the justice system and political status of the country, but still shorter than her. With a grin Sarah said "I dunno what songs there were online, but you might like a record of my previous band. It’s got some easy to learn songs on it. And there are some other CD’s that might be useful as reference material. I want those back though." She said while moving towards her bedroom. "Just give me a minute and I’ll get them... or you’d prefer to take a look at the collection yourself."

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens arm-folds and nod-nods with a smile as she listens to Sarah laugh and chat about friends and music.  She ducks her head a little from the hair-scruffle, and promptly rights her hair as soon as Sarah's done her scalp massage.  Mittens grins at the affection.  She considers the tall lady cute in her own right.

"It shouldn't take me long to make copies," Mittens says, following Sarah to her bedroom, "You don't mind me sharing the copies with the others to get things going, do you?  You and I share a love for up-beat music, by the way, but I suppose you could figure that out.  And yes.  I do intend to put a message out with the music, so you figured me out there too."

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

“Heh, wasn’t very hard to figure out. Even my old band had a message we wanted to spread. And ya can copy them all you want, as long as your carful. Most of them are originals.” Sarah said while opening the door. Once inside she immediately turns to the large bookcase full of CD’s. She slid her finger by the ska labelled shelf and stopped somewhere over half of it. “Ah, there it is. Still think this is the best one the old band ever made.” She said while pulling out one of the CD’s. It’s cover looked rather cheerful ( http://www.scu.uwe.ac.uk/Files...tter%20comic%202.jpg ) With under the picture the bands name “Something completely similar” in big colourful letters. She reaches it out to mittens and tells her “hold on to this one while I look for some good research material…ow, and feel free to look around.”

OOC: Description of the bedroom and stuff:
The bedroom is a lot neater than the living room because she only uses it for storage and sleeping. Opposite to the door was a simple one person bed with some wooden drawers under it. There was a window at the beds head end and a small night stand with a desk lamp and an alarm clock on it. On the feet end there was a wardrobe which didn’t have any clothes in it. Instead it was stacked with all kinds of boxes. The wall on the beds side was painted Pink with a replica of one of the works of Banksy on it. (http://www.leonland.com/travel...-banksy/grannies.jpg ) the rest of the walls were white and had some smaller Banksy replica’s on them (mostly rats with signs, spray cans and just random stuff.) except for the wall opposite to the bed. That wall was covered by a large bookcase. It was stacked with CD’s and also had a few books in them. She didn’t have many luxuries like a computer or a car, but she sure did have a nice music collection. In the corner on the ground there was a Boombox and a small stack of CD’s next to it.

It wasn’t visible what was in the drawers or the boxes, But the bookcase seemed to be well organised. There were labels on the shelves that stated what kind of music it was. Aside from that they were organised alphabetically on band name. Over half of them were at jazz, ska, rock and blues. (I’m not going to write everything down, but suffice to say she had a rather large love for music.)

As for the content of the CD mittens received:
They were all covers on theme songs. ( Stuff like the ska covers of Inspector gadget, The Gummy bears and Zelda, The Godfather etc.)

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens accepts the disc with a smiley nod-nod to Sarah's caution.  She snickers at the cover art then focuses her attention on the room's decor.  Instant Banksy fan!  She even copies the poses of some of the rats with a nose wiggle and tail flick.

"Love what you've done with the place!" she says with a grin, "So what was your band's message?  'Lighten up?'  'Cause that's the impression I was getting from the music I found."

Mittens (and the player) had no idea that Ska was a music style before today.  She checks out the Ska shelf with much interest.

(( All this time I thought Ska was a band's name. :P ))

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Sarah couldn’t do anything but laugh. ‘A cat imitating a rat’ she thought. ‘Now that you don’t see every day.’ There was something about the kid really lightened up the room anywhere she came. "Thanks sweet, though it wasn’t me who painted it. ‘t was a birthday present. Ishida thought that picture fit me better than any other." She pointed at the picture of the two grannies that were knitting a sweater. "Still not sure if that was a compliment though." She said rubbing her chin a little.

Though Sarah hadn’t been able to whipe the smile of her face she did raised an eyebrow "Your really something else sweaty. Sometimes it’s hard to believe you’re some kick-ass crime fighter kitten. Though that Joe had me even more surprised. Must be some kinda hero hiding in that sarcastic armour of his." she commented on recent events and observations.

"Ya guessed right on what kinda message we wanted to bring. Thinking back on it there was really only one thing binding us all together, and that was the need to have some fun… and love for music ofcorse. Well, guess that makes it two reasons."

Meanwhile someone had come inside. It had gone unnoticed to Sarah if he hadn’t shouted while making an entrance. “ How’s my favourite Red Giant?” Sarah immediately knew who it was since Ishida’s voice was rather easy to recognise. It was almost the same as Weird al Yankovic's voice, But with a slight Asian accent. She gave a ‘Gimme a sec’ pose to mittens and than hollered back at Ishida “In here.” “What, no snappy comments?” Ishida asks while closing the door. “Bit busy” Sarah hollered back. She than sighted and gave Mittens a bit of a guilty look.

(OOC: it’s the happiest music I know. :P )

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens smiles and turns her ears toward Sarah's laugh like she was enjoying music.  There's something about that red giant's laugh that lit up a room.  ;)  She blushes at all the tender nick names and compliment.  She nods in agreement with Sarah's surprise with Joe and smiles that she guessed correctly at the band's message.

Mittens perks up at the sound of the new arrival and turns toward the open bedroom doorway.

"She's talking record deals with her new agent," Mittens calls out in reply to Ishida's voice with an impish grin and wink to Sarah, "Come on in and I'll pitch you an offer too!"

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Ishida had just gone to the kitchen part of the living room to get some plates. He was formally dressed as usually, wearing a three piece suit and a hat. Other than that he was rather short, slim and resembled ‘Japan’ from the Hetalia series. Especially thanks to that Beatles hairdo coming from under his hat. ( http://images2.fanpop.com/imag...-4800970-581-331.jpg )

“A deal huh, Well if…” He replied as he turned around. Ishida didn’t finish his sentence since he was rather surprised to see a cat lady peek from the bedroom. Ishida gazed with open mouth for about two seconds and than shouted in utter bliss: “OMGOTMYGOD O MY GOOOD! You’ve been hiding a catgirl from me? Is it a stray? Can I pet it? Where did you get one?” The short fellow stared and pointed at Mittens with twinkles in his eyes like a 5 year old in a toyshop who finds the biggest teddy bear he’d ever seen.

“Wal-Mart, they were on sale.” Sarah said on a calm tone. She had expected the overenthusiastic reaction from Ishida. Knowing he loves cats as much as music this encounter would probably blow his mind. “And no, you can’t pet her, she’s mine.” she replied with an evil grin. Than she turned to Mittens and whispered: “He won’t bite either. Though I would look out for him, He’s got a fetish for cats.”

Except for the mafia outfit Ishida didn’t seem like the serious type.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens is of course annoyed by fetish boy's reaction, but she shows it in her eccentric way.  She puts on her best fan-girl impersonation and gawks at Ishida, finger pointing with sparkly eyes like he did to her.

"Ohmygosh a bishi!  You never told me Ishi was a bishi!  Can I feed it to my tentacle monster?  Will it kiss a boy for me?  Is it house broken?  It rubs the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again."

She then reverts to her sarcastic smirk, and discreetly pulls out her can of pepper spray.

"While I believe you, Sarah, I hope he stays out of kicking distance.  My foot might find his groin attractive.  You can call me Ms. Christian, Mr. Ishida."

Mittens wouldn't really kick him, though.  That's what pepper spray is for.  ;p

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Sarah snickers at Mittens reply while Ishida had a confused gaze. It looked like he was giving the words too much thought, or maybe he was just hadn’t expected a cute catlike kid gleefully picking food for her favourite tentacle monster.

Ishida snaps out of it once Mittens pulls her pepper spray. “Wha…” he said somewhat startled. “Sarah, she’s armed…” “pfff, you’ve survived worse. And the way I see it you’ve just screwed up a fantastic deal, so a bit of pain would be a good reminder not to insult guests that offer you deals.” she replies wile returning her attention to the CD shelves. She smiles knowing that Mittens will be able to handle the situation. Not that Ishida would dare to do anything even without the cute kitten having pepper spray. But it was nice to know Mittens wouldn’t hesitate to fend off idiots. “You really suck at first impressions Itchy”

“I guess the redheads talking some sense.” he said while moving towards the bedroom carrying a bag and three plates. “My apologies miss Christian, the fact that your cute and fuzzy doesn’t excuse me for pointing.” “Not to mention the awkward questions.” Sarah happily added. “yeah …those too. Kind of got overboard but I never expected to actually meet a cat person, thought they only existed in games and such.” The fact that the kid was holding mace really bothered him. He had trouble deciding if he had to keep en eye on Mittens or on the pepper spray. Both drew his attention but for very different reasons. “As you can see I’m unarmed and willing to listen to anything you have to say… As long as you don’t mace me.“ he said with a bit of an awkward smile.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens blushes a little that she was caught taking out her spray and begins to put it away.  She moves away from the door so Ishida can enter, though loses her smile and instead skews her lips with a confused look.

"Apology accepted," she says, "My this is... awkward.  Really?  You didn't see me on TV?  Now granted, it hasn't been that long since the thing with the water monster, but I woulda guessed you'da heard about it by now.  My brother's been in the news for much longer with his saving lives on a daily basis at the hospital, albeit not as front page.  Funny how that works out.  He's saved more lives than the rest of the team combined and barely gets a footnote in the news."

She seems generally agitated and a bit stiff, watching Ishida enter.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Ishida’s smile becomes less awkward once Mittens puts away the pepper spray. He sighs of relief as Mittens accepts the apology and says “pfew, that’s one less thing to worry about.” he than listens to Mittens while taking a seat on the bed and putting the plates on the ground. “So that’s your doing, well good job there.” he says happily once Mittens has finished. “I did hear something about some people fighting a water monster while saving people he assaulted in  the process. Hadn’t seen any pictures or anything though.”   Ishida scratches the back of his head a little in embarrassment. He was still smiling since it didn’t bother him that much, but he did feel a little bad for miss kitty, since it seemed like she had put allot of effort in it.

Sarah Tries not to burst into laughter at the awkward meeting and tries to explain why Ishida doesn’t recognise Mittens. "Itchy rarely reads newspapers and tries to stay away from the idiot box. The only places he hears stuff about the world is at his work or from friends."

Ishida nods as Sarah explains it and than continues "The way I see it the media doesn’t have much more to offer than tragedy and death, which are a few of my least favourite things. There is enough to worry about without those things adding to the list, so I’m better off not knowing."

Sarah Sighted while picking another CD from the tray. Ignorance is bliss. She said on an annoyed tone. Ishida doesn’t reply to Sarah’s comment but the blissful smiles said enough. “Your brother sounds awesome too.” Ishida than said trying to change the subject. “He might not get much publicity but I bet there are allot of people thankful for his help. You must be very proud of him.”

Praising her bro was the right thing to do, and Mittens goes back to her usual cheerful mood.

"That I am!" she chimes merrily, "He's one of the superheros that inspired me to do what I do!  Boy... you two put some weird ideas in my head..."

She begins to sing and dance to the tune of My Favorite Things. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw2VX5wQYQg )

"Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission,
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite,
These are a few of my least favorite things!
If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face!
And then we'll be free!  Yeeeaaaah!"

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Ishida’s expression doesn’t change one inch. He does however wiggle a little to the tune while opening the bag. He takes out three plastic boxes filled with Sushi. “I see why you get along with Sarah. The original song lies closer to my heart though.” He says to Mittens. “Whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Now who could resist that?” He asks as a rhetorical question. Sarah snickers at the choice of words from both of them. She finds it especially ironic that Ishida Used kittens and mittens in one sentence without even knowing the kid's name was Mittens.

She puts the stack of CD’s on the ground next to the plates and says “this should be enough for now. If you see any other CD you want to borrow go ahead.” She had tried to make a selection of bands that either had a strong message in their music (Like Bad religion) or those who had a unique way of presenting themselves (like The Aquabats).

“So tell me more about what you and your brother do Ms Christian.” Ishida might be a coward at heart but he did enjoy a good story, and it seemed that the cat lady had enough to tell. Sarah sat down on the ground and took one of the plates with a  pair of chopsticks. “Her name is Mittens though.” she said with a grin. “ow, and feel free to take anything you like Mits. Ishida might be an idiot but his family makes the best Sushi in town.” Sarah says to Mittens with a grin. Ishida frowns at Sarah’s comment. “I resent that, I’m not an dumb, I’m just happy.”

“I didn’t say you were dumb, I said you’re an idiot. There’s a difference. Someone who is dumb cant help making mistakes, while an Idiot does things against his better judgement.” "Hmmmm" Ishida replies rubbing his chin. “That does sound like someone I know.” He says on a semi-serious tone while looking Sarah strait in the eyes. Sarah just Sticks out her tong to him as she opens one of the plastic boxes. It seemed like those two were Actually enjoying the insults they threw at each other.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Sounds like a couple someones Mittens knows too.

"Well if it's that good then I suppose I'd be a dumb idiot to not try at least a taste," she says, kneeling in front of the last plate karate style.  Why not?  It is sushi after all, "Though I did eat before I came so please don't be offended if I only have a bite."

At this point, she can't help but imagine dancing heavy metal sushi as she reaches for a bite.  ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...&feature=related )

"Mmm!  Good!"

She snatches a 2nd and woofs it down.

"Thanks for the music and nom noms!"

She snatches a 3rd and chomps.

"Jeez these are more addictive than crack!  You should consider selling hits at high schools."

She gulps down a 4th, takes a deep breath to gather her ki, then exerts a great deal of willpower to sit on her hands to keep from taking any more.

"Anyway.  To answer your question.  My little bro spends a lot of his free time healing the terminally ill in area hospitals.  Until recent history, I've spent most of my time hitting the books so I could graduate early.  Now I devote all my time to a non profit I call the Citizen Patrol.  In essence, it's a team for super heroes, but I've got a lot more in the wings.  Roping Sarah into a band for instance.  Speaking of which... I've been meaning to ask...  Any objections to pop, Sarah?  It's Emerald's fave."

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

OOC: Loved the dancing sushi, Thanks for showing me that. Here’s something to read for the trip. ^^

IC:
Ishida is glad to see that Mittens is enjoying the meal. He sits calmly watching her gulp down the sushi. Sarah Doesn’t wait an instant and starts filling her plate with various kinds of sushi. ” Told you it was the best.” she said with a smirk as she ate the first piece. “Ya already helped me out plenty short stuff, so the least I can do is show a little courtesy” she replied to the Mittens thanks. Ishida hadn’t had contact with Sarah the last couple of days. They had both been rather busy. He raised an eyebrow at Sarah as a sign that he had no clue what she was talking about. Sarah was to busy with food and Mittens to notice so he decided to just go with the flow and join the conversation.

Sarah almost chokes on a tuna roll having to laugh about Mittens comment. She coughs a little and hits herself on the chest. “Glad you like it kid.” Ishida says with a grin. Than he turns to Sarah for a second. “Don’t gulp everything down at once Red” She replies by throwing one of her bunny slippers at Ishida, than takes a big gulp from her beer before giving Mittens a thumbs up. She seems to be alright. Ishida easily dodges the slipper and continues the conversation with mittens. “I will suggest it too my parents though they are rather busy as it is. But who knows we’ll make a sushi stand at one of the festivals some time, might be fun.” he replies with his usual optimism.

Ishida listens with great interest and Sarah seemed to have been completely recovered after emptying her drink. “pop eh, might be good thing to start off with.” She answered while getting up to fetch the slipper she threw. “You always messed up when we played something slow Saar. Ishida adds still greatly amused. “I’ll adapt.” She replies remembering her tendency to crank up the speed of every song their old band played. “Sure, and I’ll be the president by that time.” Ishida replied on a sarcastic tone.

“You should take an example of this kid. She seems to have it all figured out.” He says with a friendly smile while thumb-pointing at Mittens. “She’s what? Sixteen, seventeen? And already doing everything to make life better for others without breaking people’s noses. Sarah was a little startled by his reply. Knowing he was serious about the matter. In comparison to most people she recently got to know her life was one big mess. She dropped out of High school years ago since her father got ‘sick’ and hadn’t even been able to keep a steady job for more than half a year before getting fired for something she did or didn’t do.

Ishida had turned his attention to Mittens thinking that that was enough of a lecture to Sarah for today. “Your big bro seems like a great role model.” As Mittens had described him Ishida had inmagined some big guy that radiates light that heals the weak and incurable. He wonders why the Media hasn’t picked up this regular messiah but doesn’t think much of it. “Pop isn’t really my thing but I’m willing to help out if anyone needs some help with playing piano or keyboard.  And as for the rest I wish you allot of luck with the super stuff.”

As ishida says that Sarah snaps out of her think/dream mode and sits down next to Ishida. She throws her arm around his shoulders. “Than you must be glad to hear I also joined up with the superhero thing” She seems to be rather proud about it and a smile appeared on her face again. It surprised Ishida a bit. He raises his eyebrows and gives Mittens a look as if he’s worried about where Sarah would fit in a hero team… besides punching people senseless.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens watches the two go back-and-forth like a cat watching ping-pong.  She gives a smiley nod to Sarah's thanks to her thanks.  A mischievous grin for Ishi's teasing Sarah's tendency to speed things up.  To his praise of Mittens and tease of Sarah about her busting noses, she blushes, skews her lips to the side, and raises an eyebrow deciding not to comment.  She gives a sage-like nod to Ishi's calling her bro a role model.  Finally, she comments in song:

"To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven"

She then gives a warm smile to Sarah.  "A time to heal, a time to bust noses.  That song gets it's lyrics from scripture by the way.  The book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 3.  The door to the superhero group is open to you too, Ishida.  You don't need super powers to be a super hero, ya know.  Just deliver smiles to a lonely orphan or widow, and you qualify.  You may wind up in the superhero business anyway if you follow through with your offer to be our keyboardist.  Because our music will have a very heroic goal in mind."

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

I don’t mind helping out a bit since I’ll be having some more free time soon anyway, but I don’t think I’m ready to join some superhero team. Ishida replied. Smiling to orphans and widows is fine and all, but I'm not like Danger Woman over here. he makes a small head motion towards Sarah. I try to avoid danger instead of running at it face first. Sarah wasn’t all too surprised to hear Ishida decline. Ah come on Itchy, It'll be fun, trust me. She said While nudging him with her elbow. Ishida sighted and than said Now I’m sure I’d better let the super business slip... I'll check out the band though, doubt that will be life threatening. Sarah smirked as she picked up her plate,  already expecting that answer too.

Ishida checks the time on his watch and sees he still has about 15 minutes before he needs to leave. He randomly picks something from Sarah's plate as he continues Its nice to know the group is open to everyone who want to help he says with a endearing smile, than eats up what he had cached off the plate. I do wonder how you manage to keep the whole thing running. It seems there's more on your plate than even Atlas could carry. Sarah nods in agreement since she cant comment with a full mouth.

Mittens giggles at Ishi's nick-name for Sarah and listens intently to his reasons for declining the offer.  Then blushes at being compared to Atlas.

"I do my part with a little bit of planning and a lot of prayer," she answers bashfully, "But I'm no Atlas.  That's Sarah's job.  Kidding!  Kinda...  I mean...  Everyone contributes in their own way and together we can do the impossible.  Glad to hear you'll be joining the musical end of things, Mr. Ishida.  May I ask why you'll be having more free time?"

If it's because he's leaving his job, she might try harder to rope him into the group.  There's LOTS of stuff that needs done that doesn't involve getting electrocuted or fighting monsters.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Ishida smiles as he listens to Mittens explanation. It was nice to hear someone talk so vividly and positively about the things they did. Usually he had to listen to people complain about their work and pay at the bar. He still thought it was a little strange to see someone being so happy about doing something life threatening like fighting crime without even getting paid. But he didn’t make a big thing out of it thinking everyone is entitled to enjoy their own things…how bizarre they might be.

When Mittens asks him why he will have more time he looks to Sarah for a second, than turns back and blissfully replies “I’m going to quit my job today. Things have changed allot since Sarah’s departure so I figured it was due time for me to leave. I still have some things on the side and I’ve been helping my parents with the shop, so it’s not like I need the job for money or anything.”

Sarah looks at Ishida as she raised an eyebrow. “Anyone been threatening you again?” She says slightly aggravated.  “If that’s the case I want names.”   Ishida sighs at the comment. “nah, its not like that. And even if it was, what are you going to do about it? Last time you tried to help it got you fired.” Ishida replied somewhat annoyed. “That’s not true…” sarah quickly snaps back “last time I tried to help I got arrested, fired was the time before that itchy… try to keep count.” Ishida sighs once more as he lowers his head a bit. “you’ve proven my point.” Sarah just raises her shoulders and says “maybe, but those people will think twice before ever harming anyone again.”

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens bites her lower lip with a huge smile, barely able to contain her excitement when she hears Ishida's leaving his job, but her enthusiasm is tempered when the topic of threats comes up.

"Threats?" Mittens asks, "Like organized crime type extortion?  Sarah's got a very good point.  Sometimes the use of force is the appropriate response.  From what I've gathered, she only got arrested because the guy who had it coming couldn't take a hit."

She digs out one of her "business cards" for the Citizen Patrol, writes her cell number on the back, and offers it to Ishida.

"Please give this to your family," she says, "And let them know that if they need any help that the police can't legally handle, there's a group of superheroes just a phone call away.  Not that I expect us to even have to use violence.  Bullies tend to be cowards when faced against a group that can take out a bullet proof water monster."

She reaches into her backpack and pulls out an article about the Citizen Patrol's first encounter then offers it to Ishida.  In the interest of time, she decides to hold out on pitching him another employment offer that doesn't involve crime fighting.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Ishida snickers with one hand in front of his hand. “Well would you look at that, now I got two guardian angles” he says as he receives the business card. “I will inform my parents. They will appreciate this, I know that for sure.” he says with a smile.

When Mittens pulls out the article Sarah snatches it before Ishida gets a look. “Whaa” she says in excitement. “so this is the big bad water monster I’ve been hearing so much about.” she says laying her eye on the article. Ishida tilts his head over Sarah’s shoulder to take a peek. “Impressive” he says skimming over the article. “Using a street lamp to electrocute it was quick thinking. Any word on what happened to it after it disappeared?”

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Mittens nods to Sarah and shakes her head in reply to Ishida's question. "I know only what's been reported in the news.  The police are investigating it.  As are many different kinds of scientists.  The source of the water was a huge drainage pipe, so there's way to much DNA to pinpoint any one suspect.  And science can't explain the event beyond just..."

She opens an earmarked magazine and quotes from it in an academic tone: "'Mutations are opening new fields of inquiry that we don't even have yardsticks to measure much less sophisticated tools.  In the past, modern understanding of physics could easily pass as 'magic' or 'alchemy' and that's where we stand today when faced with inexplicable new phenomenon.  In time, science will find a way to understand the mechanics behind these fantastic new abilities, but there's no telling how long it will take.'"

She returns to her usual cheerful demeanor.

"At least they don't deny that what happened really happened.  There's skeptics that call the whole thing a hoax or special effects prank.  I'm very much a skeptic myself, but that's taking it way too far."

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

Ishida smiles in his usual way as he listens to Mittens explanation. As she explains that some people don’t believe what happened is real Ishida replies with a sigh. Sarah on the other hand looks at Mittens as if she sees water burn. “Having doubts is fine, but blaming the people who solve the problem for creating it is just idiotic. First person who claims were a fraud super team is gonna get a mouth full of fists.” She says somewhat agitated. “Doubt that will help.” Ishida replies “There will always be people in doubt. I mean if god himself would come to earth and showed us a miracle, there’d still be people that would call it the devils work.” “you’re probably right about that” She says as she looks back at the article for a moment. Than she gives the article back to Mittens. She smiles as she says “At least we know we’re actually helping people.”

“We?” Ishida asks, raising an eyebrow as he looks at Sarah “I didn’t see your name in the article.” “technicalities. I bet that is going to change soon, after we kick some big threat thing into the ground.” It filled Sarah with joy thinking about the fights and other dangers they were going to be facing. The publicity was a small extra to her.

Re: Sarah Backers' Apartment

"Ishida's quite right about the doubters," Mittens says, "God did come to Earth full of miracles, and they nailed him to a cross for it.  'Course you can't keep a good man down, so we celebrate Easter every year to remember that the doubters were wrong.

"It sure is encouraging to hear how eager you are to punch those bad-guys in the face, Sarah!  I just know it's gunna be awesome having you on the team!  But let's not forget that the non-punching types contribute just as much.  My little brother for example is big on the non-violence thing, but I'd be dead without him.  That's my not-so-subtle way of twisting your arm to join up, Ishida."

She smirks and winks.
