Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
It was very much as strong as cloth, and felt like it, even if it looked like shadow.  "Yes.  I can make other things, but not as much as I used to be able to do."  She replies with a smile.

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
"That's incredible." tugging at the silky square of blackness.

"Makes anything I can do seen like child's play." marveling at the cloth.

"I mean, normal cloth you have to grow the cotton, rake the seeds out, card the fibers, spin them into thread, weave it and then you have cloth.  You, can spin and weave this out of darkness, that's really....wow."

"Can you do others things?"

Aki nodded.  "I could move through the darkness, appearing wherever I want.  Although, now, I wouldn't be able to get very far.  I can also bring forth ninjas."

"Well, ninjas are shadow warriors; creatures that vaguely resemble man.  Most of them serve my...father...but some serve me."

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
"Nothing much really, sort of six of one, half a dozen of the other."

"I'm tough enough to take a light caliber bullet without injury, I can jump about twenty feet straight up if I try hard, I can lift about twenty-eight hundred pounds, but I lifted a half track off a guy once.  And I can run pretty fast, about forty miles an hour if I sprint hard."

Then, popping the snaps on the side of his pack he will pull out a round shield of thick metal.  The inside is olive drab with black marks and squiggles on it, but the face is an American flag in glossy red, white and blue, "But this is my best.  It is both protection and a weapon." and when he slips his arm into the straps Joey seems to stand a little taller, a little prouder, as if much of his personal sense of worth is tied up in that shield..or what it stands for.

"A lot of G.I.'s, they worried about getting home and some of them, they signed the inside of this for good luck, and I like to think, that as long as I'm still alive, a little piece of them is with me."

"It weighs about thirty pounds and it's made from...never mind what it's made from, but it's balanced perfectly.  I can bounce it off three surfaces so that it will come back to me."
holding it out for her to handle if she wants.

Aki handled the shield carefully.  She smiled a bit as she flipped to the back to see those signatures.  Then she handed it back to Joey wordlessly and with a smile.

After English class

Hector had only materialized arms for himself; it was enough to move his wheelchair around. He'd claimed in the past that it was less concentration to just do two limbs.
He wheeled up to the swimming pool and looked at it contemplatively, thinking about the oddness that had happened in class that day, and the 'security sweep' that was currently going through the school.

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Joseph, hands in his pockets, walked up behind Hector, and plopped down next to him, looking out over the pool as well. What had happened was also on his mind, albeit in a self-pitying "I couldn't do anything" sense.
"So what do you suppose happened back there?" he asked Hector, still looking over the water.

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
"I'm not real sure," Hector said, his gaze still on the water, "I mean, I thought this place was secure-"

"It is."
Fer materialized on the low diving board, her legs dangling over the edge. "I mean, I've got most of the powers of your standard mischief spirit, and I can't get into half the rooms here when they want me not to. Either this was an inside job, or whomever did it had some serious, serious mojo. Like a monkey. With a turban."

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Joseph shook his head, and answered in all seriousness, "Nah, too much mojo, not enough jojo." He scratched his chin. "Still, an inside job...that's gotta be possible. I mean, even this school has gotta have a few bad eggs." He looked at Fer. "I mean, besides us. Of course, what do you got to gain by making Brittney wig out like that?"

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Fer shrugged, "Outing my own twin sister? Nothing."

Hector goggled, then shook his head, "Almost got me on that one, Fer. But, y'know, I think you might be right, Joseph. I mean, we already know Jeffrey's an ass. Maybe he did it? But I didn't think he was that into electronics."

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Joseph snapped his fingers. "But maybe he's enough of an ass to rope someone in who does?" He then waved his hand dismissively. "Nah, we're already assuming the worst thinking this was an inside job, we don't need to make it worse and say it was an inside conspiracy. Not unless all the other options don't work."

"Besides, he might actually look at electronics as a hobby, although that might give him too much credit."

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
"We could find out..." Fer smiled impishly, "I could go in invisible... Or we could just break into his room when he's off being angsty somewhere."

"Charles and Bruce both know a lot about electronics. Maybe we could ask them?" Hector ventured.

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Joseph grinned, and waggled his finger towards Fer. "I like your style. When we've got an opening, we should totally look into that." He then looked to Hector. "I can talk to the Tinman; I think he's looking at some of those electronics directly. If there's anything on them that can point us somewhere, he'd probably be the first to find out."

He drummed his fingers. "Still...is this because Brittney's such a big influence in the student body?"

"Or if it's Jeffrey it's because Britt was looking at Marcus."
Fer gave Hector a shocked look. Hector chuckled, "What? You think because I'm in a wheelchair I don't notice these things? It's my limbs that are gone, not my senses."

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
"If anything, your senses should be improved tenfold, right? That's how these things work, right? Blind man becomes Daredevil, man without smell gets great taste, the horrifically unfashionable have an amazing sense of fair play?"

He then shrugged. "But Brittney and Marcus? I'll be honest, didn't see that one."

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Hector semi-shrugged, the liquid form of his arms rippling, "I think she may be trying to make Jeffery jealous, but don't quote me on that. It might be a crush."
"You," Fer mock-scowled as she stood on the diving board, "Do not have a romantic bone in your body, do you?"
"Statistically, I do have fewer bones in total."

Fer sprung on the board twice, then turned and walked back to the edge of the pool, apparently not wanting to dive in anyway.

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
"Well, if one of the ones he's got is the investigative bone, I think we'll be fine. So long as one of us has got one." Joseph got up from the ground, and walked around the edge of the pool, towards Fer and the diving board...and duking his arm out very quickly just to see if he couldn't get the mischief spirit to dive in anyway.

Joseph chuckled as well, and knelt down next to the pool where Fer "fell" in. "Sorry, but you had to commit, you know?" He offered a hand for Fer to get out of the water.

Fer reached up and grabbed Joseph's hand, a gleam in her eye, "You know how easy this would be, right?"

Joseph, reflex save as the water reaches up to drag you in. TN 14 to avoid.

Re: Labyrinth: The back yard
Joseph smirked right back, and started to pull her up. "Yeah, yeah, I--" His eyes went up, and he noticed the water itself coming up from the pool. "--know?"

Annnd down he went. Splashing a bit, Joseph poked his head out of the water and spat out.
