Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
As she hurried out of the room, Geri almost collided with the soft-spoken, shy-seeming student named Pietor. He turned away almost immediately, avoiding physical contact. "Sorry, sorry... Didn't mean to get in your way."

"Oh, no, I'm sorry. I should watch where I'm going," Geri apologizes, turning to grab her Montgomery Biscuits hat from her room before closing the door behind her. "It's just that I'm really late for class, and-"

"Wait, why aren't you in class?"

Avoiding any particular eye contact, Pietor blushed slightly, "I was on my way, I just... I get lost a little. Usually good sense of direction, but I guess 'The Labyrinth' lives up to its name."

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Geri wasn't sure whether it'd be better or worse to arrive ten minutes late to class with this shy boy in tow. On the one hand, it might diffuse some of the trouble she's likely to be in if there's someone there to share it with. One the other, showing up late to class with a boy is how rumors get started.

Screw it, she thought, if people wanted to start talking just because I 'got lost' and ran into a boy on my first day, well then maybe these people just weren't as open-minded as I thought they'd be.

Geri put on her cap and stuck out her hand, her arms noticeably empty of books, papers, or other school supplies. "Name's Geri. If you're headed to physics, I guess we can go together. I think it's this way."

The offer of companionship made Pietor make eye contact, but only for a moment. He smiled and nodded, "Okay, let's go... Uhm, don't you need anything from your room?"

"Got everything I need."

Geri flicks her wrist with a magician's flourish, and an ink pen appears out of nowhere. She waggles it playfully before opening her hand, as if dropping it, as it winks back out of existence.

She smiles, "Just a little trick I do. My only one, really. Makes shopping a breeze."

"I suppose it would!" Pietor agreed, continuing along to the physics room, "Is it some form of teleportation?"

"I don't think so. The things don't seem to go anywhere in particular. They're just, uh, 'gone,' y'know. My sister volunteered to see where they go once. Said it was like being nowhere. Dark. Quiet. Not even warm or cool or anything. So, yeah, if it is teleportation, I've got no idea where to."

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Pieter looked both amused and somewhat horrified, if the two could be done at the same time.
"If it hadn't worked, you'd have one less sister..."
His words were cut off, however, from sudden frantic noises coming from the physics lab. From within, there was chaos.
What looked to be a single line of white energy, twisting like a thread in a hurricane, was leaping up from one of the work stations and scorching the ceiling. Doctor Petrov was alternately staring at it, and hastily scribbling calcuations on his notepad. Flanking the rift were Minotaur and Lady Liberty, both seemingly trying to figure out what to do.
Petrov yelled out over the roar eminating from the line, "I think that if we can get a stabilized-" His words cut off as he saw the two truant students.
"Get out of here!" Minotaur bellowed.
"No, wait!" Petrov said, "You, miss Williamson, you have the powers with the extra-space, yes?"

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Geri turned to leave immediately when Minotaur yelled, pulling Pietor's sleeve as she did, the whole situation looking too strange and too dangerous for either of them to be involved. She stopped and turns back when Doctor Petrov asks his question, clearly confused.

"The what? I dunno. Maybe. Yeah, I guess. Is there something I can do to help?"

Geri's focus was on the ribbon of energy, not Petrov, as she spoke. She hoped it wasn't as dangerous as it looked.

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
"Doctor! We can't get another student involved!"
Petrov shook his head, "It's either that or build a diphasic frequency modulation and randomly alter it every second; even with Daedalus' help, it would take-"
Lady Liberty held up a hand, "We'll do what we can. Tell Miss Williamson what you need."

Ivan Petrov skirted the sides of the room to where Geri and Pietor stood, "Young lady, we... Had a little... Accident. Somehow one of the machines achieved a different harmonic level than it should have and-"

"Cut to the chase, doctor!" Minotaur growled, as a tendril of energy crackled towards him.

"Right, right. Young lady, I read your file. I need you to simply watch the ... 'spark'... Closely, and let me know if it changes colors, and what color it changes to. I'll work the harmonics from here."

"Okay, I can do that. I'll try."

Geri is pretty distracted by everything that's going on, but watches the ribbon of energy for any changes, still standing very close to Pietor.

The light begins to crackle and shift as Petrov fiddles with machines, recalibrating them.

There -are- colors there, within the whiteness, but they're very hard to pick out. They're shifting very, very quickly.

Peitor nods as he watches, "So... The other students got caught in this... Thing?"

Minotaur looks as if he's about to respond, but looks to Lady Liberty and keeps his mouth shut.

"Um, it's uh, it's changing. But fast. I can't really tell. I'm sorry, it's just too fast. Is there anything else I can do? I could try, um, making it disappear. Would that help? Is it safe to touch?"

"I can't allow this!" Minotaur looks fuming.
"Minotaur, help me move this." Lady Liberty says, a huge piece of machinery towards the gap.
Moving to do so, the hulking man momentarily turns his back on the students. At that moment, Petrov gives Geri a quick 'go ahead' nod.

Geri isn't 100% sure about the nod, but decides to act, anyway. She reaches out towards the ribbon of energy, carefully, with one hesitant finger, and wills it into her "pocket," hoping it doesn't do anything like vaporize everything else she's got in there . . . or vaporize her just for touching it.

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
*SNAP*
It was like getting an immense static electric shock, and for a moment, to Geri, it felt as if the entire world had frozen. Then images began to form in the arc of the energy thread. It was hard to keep track of them, but it looked almost like... Almost like she could see every moment of her life, playing out backwards at very high speed.
No one else in the room was moving- to everything else, time was standing still. From far, far in the distance, Geri could faintly hear a voice.

Another notice roll, please.

"Ow! Dr. Petrov I-" it took Geri a second to notice what was going on. "Dammit dammit dammit. This is bad."

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Now there are more images flying by... Too quickly to even comprehend what they are, but they're definitely -not- parts of Geri's life.
Far, far away, a tinny voice can be heard.
"You... You girl... Can you... Can you hold onto this? We need to stabilize the link!"

Geri reaches out to touch Dr. Petrov, but then withdraws her hand, thinking it might not be a good idea to touch anything else right now. As she hears the voice, she looks around for its source, "Who is that? Hold what? What's happening here?"

The same voice, from far away, echoes, and for just a second, the entire scene seems to waver, as if pushed forward one second, then stopping again.
"I am The Falcon, a mystery man from your past! I have people with me... Mystery men of your era... I need to send them back to you! The spell is weakening!"

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Geri isn't sure what's going on, but she figures that there's some sort of strange time-travel type stuff going on, and that someone from the past is trying to send someone back to the present, so she stands perfectly still, doesn't touch anything, and, though she isn't sure whether she actually managed to disappear anything a moment ago, she makes damned sure not to undisappear it.

"Okay! I'll try! Just, uh, just send them quickly!"

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Things seem to lurch suddenly, like a car getting a jackrabbit start; then everything stops again, and the arcing energy snaps and pops. The hairs on the back of Geri's neck begin to stand on end, and another voice comes through, again, from far, far away...

"I can do this! I know I can!"

It takes a moment for it to become clear.

The voice is Geri's.

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
Geri almost responds to the voice before she realizes that it's her own. Even then, she wants to shout out to it, ask questions, maybe the 'other' her knew more about what was going on. But there's no reason to believe that'd be the case. There's clearly some sort of time travel parallel dimension type thing going on here. The stranger's voice - the Falcon - seemed intent on 'holding open' whatever it was, and her presence seemed to be doing that. So she remains still, repeating aloud, to herself, "That's right. I can do this! I know I can!"

I don't know what I'm doing, she thinks next, but I'm already doing it, so that should make it easy.

Re: Labyrinth: Student room - 'Geri' Williamson
There are suddenly three sounds, all at once.

First, a peal of thunder.

Secondly, a voice calling out "MORDELIUM BERACHTUTH CHE GEUNIUM!!! MESUNIUM RACHTOR!!!"

And finally, oddly, Geri's 'distant' voice calling out a string of numbers;
"114234355234562431656111!"

The white energy seems to explode outwards, and for just a moment, everything goes blinding white!
