Aki:
"Err...well, yes, you can say that.  He's more of a titan or primordial than god though."

"Well, that's a bit more reassuring.", he said with an awkward smile. He was just glad that his little bit of knowledge didn't make him suddenly into the geek in the group. "So.. ah, go on- sorry I interrupted."

He took a seat, sitting the sketchpad on his lap and left the strap of his back on his one shoulder.

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Riel waved at Geri, honestly pleased ot have the others around.  It almost felt... normal, like she hadn't outed herself in the most embarrassing fashion on National television.  Here, they didn't care.  Hell, here, their powers were cooler, anyway.

"So, you've got these thousand minions willing to do your bidding.  Are they actually alive?"  Riel asked. "I mean, do they have families and hopes, dreams...  If you send them off to do something, do you need to worry whether they'll come back?"

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Aki giggled at Riel, and was relieved that Karl only had an academic curiousity.  "Well, I don't know how many actually follow me, but I've never summoned more than a few dozen."  Aki's smile faded a bit.  "But I've grown weak as of late.  At best, I can only manage five now, and that's because of Susanno's seal.  But to answer your question, they are alive, as much as anything I can think of, but they are also ninja, so I don't have to worry about them."  Aki returned to her smile.

"Okay..." Riel said, obviously not grasping the intricacies of it. "So, what does that mean, then?  Are they soulless creatons?"  she said, then in a drop-off voice, she said, "I'm trying to figure out if I should pray for those who might have died for us.  I don't want their souls on my conscience."

"They simply return to the dimension of darkness if they die here...although technically it's more of the body I provide decaying.  They are beings of shadow."  Aki sighed.  "I'm sorry, it's such a hard concept to explain."

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Mel hesitated a moment, "You are not acting as if you are 'fine', but I will leave you to your own estimation of your status."

From a distance, it now looks like Inferno is trying some long-distance shots at the basketball hoop, missing over half of them. Brittney retrieves the ball each time.

Beetle and Peitor have put the softball equipment away and are heading for the pool to socialize.

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
"You provide a body for them.  So, they're like really advanced golems, then." That, at least, seemed to satisfy Riel.

She didn't stop there.  "What does it mean that your father is the God of Evil?" Riel screwed up her face. "It's a philosophical concept, isn't it?  I didn't know there were Gods for that."

OOC: Master of social tact, definitely.  She's trying to make friends...  But I'm trying to lay the groundwork for a change in her moral/ethical structure.  Seems to me that Aki would provide a great opportunity to change and fine-tune that.

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Aki sighed, obviously not comfortable with talking about her father.  "Well, as I said earlier, he's more of a primordial being or titan.  He came before the gods.  He is the darkness before time began, and would love to see nothing more than the restoration of his dominance through the destruction of this realm."

Glancing up, Elise waved to the others cheerfully, before popping another egg into her mouth.  She was certainly polite enough to close her mouth before chewing, but that made the crunch of the shattering eggshell only mildly less awful.

In reply to All-seeing Eye (msg #20):

He grinned at Mel, but he tried to 'walk it off'...more like limp. He was not too worried-any real injury could be handled by the suit. It was the only organic thing the nanobots could effect-him. "Geeze, really smooth Chuck..." He grumbled to himself.

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Beetle looks at Whiplash and turns a bit green, "Oh lord, please tell me those are ... Like... Pretzel-filled or something?"

Swimming to the side of the pool, Fer pops her head out from the water, "Water's warm, come on in!" Whom she's speaking to, however, is unclear.

Mel's treads continue to trundle, but his head swivels to look behind him as he goes; his visual attention seems to be focused on the basketball courts.

Backstroking nearby, Joseph was grinning, eyes closed in content (and the fact he was staring at the sun with his head partially in the water). "Waaay ahead of ya, Fer," he reassured, before ducking under the water for a second. Popping up again, he looked to Fer directly. "I ask you, how many high schools have their own swimming pool? And how many of those have their swimming pools this huge?"

She blinked at Beetle, looking confused.  "Umm, sorry?  I guess pretzels would go pretty good with eggshell, but I don't know how you'd get them inside without breaking it..."

"I'm sorry."  Riel said after a second. "I just find it hard to wrap my head around.  If you're a God of something, what does that mean?"

Riel placed her hands behind her back and arched once, stretching backward impressively far.  She removed her top, showing a bikini-top underneath.  Her body was pale, but impressive physical shape;  her clothing hid this most the time.  Shoes and skirt followed quickly after and Riel glanced at the pool, a quick, delighted, smile coming to her face.

Riel Hahn:
"I'm sorry."  Riel said after a second. "I just find it hard to wrap my head around.  If you're a God of something, what does that mean?"

Geri finally steps forward, having been just kinda standing on the edge of the conversation for a while now.

"It means she's one of us, is all. Some people . . . some called me a god, at first, and I can hardly do anything at all. I bet it's the same for anyone here - put any one of us in the right place at the right time, and people will call us gods. It just means we can do things that no one else can. I think that's what it's always meant, now that I think about it."

"I means you'd have to find your own path.  An Evil being would make you worship them regardless.  A Good one would allow you the choice.  But even still, I haven't seen anyone that can be Good all the time.  Even I've made bad decisions."

Aki turned to smile at Guri.  "But I'm glad you think of me as like you."

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Riel nodded.  "I mean, you read about 'the God of Butterflies', say...  Shouldn't they be able to control butterflies, maybe decide when and when not to create them?" the implication of her words were pretty clear, but that Riel had taken the conversation in a more esoteric and hopefully rhetorical direction was hopefully not lost on those around her.

OOC:  Woosh.  Difficult to not make her come across as a proseltyzer.   But this conversation is actually really god for Riel's growth...

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Aki shakes her head.  "No, Riel-san.  Just because one has purview over that domain does not mean that their authority is absolute.  Anyone who has that kind of power is more than just the god of butterflies."  Aki smiled at Riel.  "Still, even in my age, I have not seen everything this universe has to offer.  All I can say for sure is that everyone has free will, and whether they accept it or not, is their decision."

Beetle gives Geri a sidelong smirk, "Don't you know the rules? If someone asks you if you're a ghod, you say 'yes'!"

"I'm a ghoddess. It's true!" Fer says smirking in the pool. "The ghoddess of water!" She then splashes Joseph, and turns and splashes a little water at Riel

Chuck sat down, and began to download even more info on his current assignment. There had to be plenty of stuff on the web on actual super villain groups...

Re: Interlude 1-2:2 The grounds
Spitting out some water that got him in the splash, Joseph leaned against the side of the pool, closer towards Aki. "So, what happens when a god starts getting a proper understanding of the universe?" he had to ask. "Do they evolve beyond human comprehension, or do they just kick around like they always do?"

"Phenomenal Cosmic Power!" Riel smiled, giving in and letting the topic go.

Riel stepped up onto the diving-board, stepped forward as if she were preparing to dismount a balance-beam'  She executed a perfect forward flip into a dive, yelling "ITTY BITTY LIVING SPACE!" as she went.

Inferno storms off back towards the school from the basketball court, with Brittney following him.

Fer applauds briefly at Riel's dive, "You're a genie-yus!" She semi-puns.

Beetle takes a seat near Aki, "So this whole school thing is kinda new to you, huh?"

Mel treads over towards the now-empty basketball courts.

Aki turns to Beetle.  "Not at all, really.  I've often went to schools to learn new things.  Having been out for millenia, I really have to catch up."
