Labyrinth: The Library
Taking up a good chunk of the second floor's western wing, the Labyrinth's library is both state-of-the-art and somewhat ancient. Books reside here from as far-off times as ancient Atlantis, although the oldest tomes are kept in hermetically-sealed vaults for both security and safety reasons.
Computer desks with bleeding-edge access into information all around the world ring the center of the library itself, bookshelves being further out. In the center is both a glass-walled media center and a ring of comfortable chairs and couches for studying.

Interlude: 2-3

Hector Ruiz's wheelchair is beside one of the couches. Custom-made for him, it has large water tanks on the back, which he can access in order to make himself limbs as well as armor and the like. Currently, he has two 'arms', and he's thumbing through a textbook.

A few seats away, Fer Derry sits inverted, her legs in the air and her hair hanging down from the seat. Nonchalantly, she pages through a book of poetry.

Re: Labyrinth: The Library
Joseph was sitting at a nearby table, cleaning some excess earwax with a mechanical pencil, pondering over a chemistry text book. After several start and stops trying to struggle through them, Joseph finally slammed his head into the table, groaning. School barely started, and already he was pulling longer hours trying to get his head wrapped around some of these things. This was high school level; how could these sciences be so complicated?

Hector winced at the noise, "Careful there. Don't want to do yourself injury."

"Or damage the desk." Fer agreed.

Joseph looked up at the two, and grinned. "Yeah, I think I might have dented it. My bad." Joseph spun his pencil between his fingers. "I've just been working all week on these classes. They don't kid around when school starts here. I only got 4 hours of sleep two nights ago. Drank so much caffiene I could barely feel my--"

Joseph now noticed Hector's interesting prosthesis. "...chest."

Re: Labyrinth: The Library
If Hector was aware of the intent gaze, he didn't show it.
"Yeah, I hear ya. Chemistry? I know a molecular shell from a taco shell."

Fer smirked, the book in her hand turning into an over-sized butterfly and then promptly vanishing. "Sucks to be you two. I just used magic to memorize the entire chemistry book. Granted, that means I had to -eat- the book, and it wasn't all that tasty."

Joseph looked to Fer, eyebrow raised. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa. ...Whoa. You can get this stuff?" Reimbursing text books must be difficult for Fer. "How exactly does that work, anyway?"

Re: Labyrinth: The Library
With a backwards somersault, Fer was now sitting on the floor. Sighing, she shook her head, "It doesn't. I have this... Thing. At least once a day, I have to lie, usually a big one. It's not really something I can control. I actually don't know that much about chemistry, or how books taste."

Re: Labyrinth: The Library
Joseph nodded in sympathy. Then thought. "Wait. What if that itself was the lie? A lie about having to lie at least once a day." System error. "But then, would that mean you were lying about having to lie in the first place? But then if you told the truth about that and it was the lie and oh dear I've gone cross eyed."

Fer gave a 'confused dog' tilt of the head and muttered sotto voice to Hector, "He's gone loopy."

Hector chuckled, and wheeled over, snapping his fingers in front of Joseph's face, "You still with us, Joe?"

Joseph blinked, his vision realigning, and nodded. "Huh, oh, yeah, I'm good," he reassured. "Didn't know water could snap," he admitted.

"Actually, it kinda can't." Hector said, "Wrong friction coefficient. However, I have a sound generator hooked up to the chair, and it travels really well through the limbs."
As if to demonstrate, he held up a 'hand', and the 'sad trombone' noise played through it.

Joseph smirked, and chuckled a little. "Anything else your chair can do? Please tell me it's a hover chair. That'd be so awesome." Was certainly better than what he brought; all he had back in his room was a wooden training sword.

"Nah," Hector said, "One of the kids here... Uhm... Bruce? Said he'd build me one, but I'd rather not. If I lose power, I'd still like to be able to move, even if it just means someone wheeling me around."

Fer moved over to Hector's side and looked at Joseph's chemistry book, "What're we working on?"

"Bruce...that's the guy with the robotic arm, right?" Joseph asked. "Sounds like a guy who could build a hover chair."

Joseph looked up at Fer, then back at the text book, then leaned back in his seat. "Just reviewing the facts for an upcoming test. I figured there'd be monthly exams on these things, but wasn't expecting it within the first two weeks."

Fer laughed, "Yeah, surprise!"
"Got some flash cards of the periodic table if you guys wanna work with those." Hector suggested, his fluid arms rummaging through a backpack.

Re: Labyrinth: The Library
"If we still have to," Joseph sighed. He thumbed towards Fer. "Unless she eats the text book for review and aces the whole thing come test time, think it'd be best for all of us." He had to see Hector manipulate those flash cards with hands made of water.

Re: Labyrinth: The Library
It turns out that the 'flash cards' are a digital set on a monitor, which Hector places on a table. The first few letters that pop up, Fer makes up ridiculous names for, but soon she, too, settles in for actual study.
