Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Marcus gives Joseph a nod and leads him to the middle room.  Mentioning the different areas he knew about in case they needed to get out fast.  "Yellow paint is new." He says having no idea why its there or what it means.  Other than noting what it looks like he doesn't give it much care and begins walking towards the secret entrance to the club.  "Ready?"

"All right." Riel said after a prolonged silence.  "We're heading in the front.  Give me about twenty seconds."

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Edward McGinnis, known to his friends and employers as 'Hatchet', stood at the front door. He hadn't really expected any trouble; maybe a few 'Do you know who I am?' Types. He could normally persuade them to get lost with a mixture of body language and not-to-subtle threats.

The brown-haired young woman approaching from across the street made him stand up a little straighter, however, and take some notice. There was no one else waiting at the door at the moment, so he made eye contact and held it. The 'Do you have ID' question was going to come next, unless it was circumvented.

"Guys, I should tell you-the special room in there is on its own power grid. If you get in there, I need one of you to place your commlinks near one of the devices or cameras so I can hack into it. It will also have to be powered up first." He sent via the commlink.

"So are we snooping or are we fighting?" Marcus asks as he nears the doors to the upstairs.  Once he and Joseph went through them all hell was going to break loose and there wouldn't be any time for the locked room.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
"Come on, Karl."  Riel punched Karl in the shoulder playfully.  She went with a deep red dress and heels, the kind that showed off her gymnast's form as if it were an after-thought.  Riel had never seen herself as hot property, but deep down inside, maybe everybody wanted a chance to be in the spotlight.  And if all it took were a high hemline and high heels?  THat would be too damned easy.

Riel approached the front door, raised an eyebrow at the bouncer.  "Is Angel in tonight?"  she asked outright.  "I never got the chance to thank him for the other night... with the brawl and all.  Those guys were scary."

It was a fan-girl approach to take, but with any luck, she'd be taken for the mindless bimbo she was showing herself off to be.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Karl felt like a fool. He had forgotten how he looked at first- once the illusion had taken place he had dug into some quick research. He needed a name or two to drop, and he had to make it feasible. He tried to stand relaxed as Riel played her part, but the get-up made him feel as noticeable as a sore thumb.

The hat sat upon his head backwards (I never understood this- makes the thing completely useless) and tilted back towards his right ear. The Adidas logo was emblazoned on his over large t-shirt (worn for hiding weapons...) and the red and blue of his boxers were visable due to the bagginess of his jeans (I've no idea why they do this...).

"Yeah, baby... My cousin Martel told me him an his girl Sasha said dis place was tha shit.", he said, looking around. Martel was a figure in local crime, he had found out, and he has always been with a woman named Sasha (a Russian with rumored connections to some crime families over seas). He had also come to find that his size, build, and hair were all close enough to that of Martel that he could pass as a family member. He also found that the man made several trips to this joint over the last year... so he hoped to ride along with that and Riel's story as well.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
A little wary, Hatchet looked as if he was about to ask for identification, but at the mention of Sasha, he almost flinched.
"Martel ain't here tonight." He answered, his tone a little subdued, "Or, I don't think he'll be here til later. If you wanna wait for him, Angel's in the back."

Karl just gave a kind of arrogant nod, took Riel's arm, and made his way into the club.

"Look at you, getting all snobby and such." Riel said with a laugh.  "I'm going to swoon."  The last was delivered deadpan, but the dryness of sarcasm should have been obvious.  It wasn't intended as a dig...  Hell, it had gotten them in when she hadn't a clue how to get there.

"We have to investigate this. Marcus, get me in that room, and keep a watch. I'm going to use my com to get all the information Chuck can need. About to go offline...now." He pulled out his comlink, and dropped it in his pocket, nodding to Marcus. "Alright, I'm ready."

Chuck, still 'listening in' nods despite being alone on the roof. He prepares to gather as much info as he can, so he can start to digitally map out and scan the room he otherwise had no access to.

Elise clung to the ceiling above Joseph and Marcus, eyes narrowed as she followed the boys silently.  It was, she reflected, a bit depressing that she had nothing to contribute unless things went badly wrong, but after the mess they'd made last time, she could hardly afford to sit out on this one.  Scuttling aside into the shadows, she peered down at Joseph worriedly, tensing.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
NPC'ing Marcus for a moment

Marcus nodded and melded through the wall, a moment or two later pushing the heavy door open. "All yours."

Inside, the room beyond looked like an office, of sorts. Very expensively decorated, the dragon-patterend rug alone probably cost a few thousand dollars. In the center of the room was an old-looking, but well-kept wooden desk with a state-of-the-art computer set up. Several potted but likely fake plants stood against the walls, and a huge video screen took up one wall.

OOC: Once inside, any communication link to Tinman will drop

Upstairs, the club is going as it normally is. The noise is high, and Riel even recognizes some people she's seen there before. In the back, near the entrance to the VIP area, are Angel's bodyguards, but not the same ones from the first night.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Karl orders a drink- a scotch (something the personality he's channeling enjoys) but does not drink. He smiles a little at Riel, happy that they had managed to make it in so easily, "We're in, Tin.", he says over the comm. Unable to hear anything he taps the device, then looks at Riel.

"Either mine is broke or it's just too loud in here.", this all felt slightly familiar. Howser was no stranger to this type of thing and Karl took some comfort from that. It was surreal sometimes- moving through the moments on a kind of cruise control- following echoes of someone else within.

In reply to All-seeing Eye (msg #44):

Suddenly to have the comm links go down sounded all sorta of red alarms for Chuck. He had to find out how the managed to stop the transmission signal. Any jamming might show they where ready for his friends. He had to send in a remote drone to find out the extend of the jamming field and what sort of energy it was using.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Joseph nodded to Marcus, glad he was keeping him covered, as he stepped into the office room. He dropped the comlink down for Chuck to get his sights in, unaware that even more than that, communications had dropped. He frowned as he looked over the various screens, not quite sure what they were. Still, he tried looking for any suspicious activity, his eyes bouncing from one screen to another in an attempt to spot their targets. In a moment, he'd start checking the desk for possible schedules and plans.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Tinman's scan revealed something truly disturbing; the room that Joseph had just entered seemed... Not to exist. Perhaps more annoyingly, the security cameras in the rest of the basement were, perhaps deliberately, spaced to make it impossible to turn them to get a view inside the room.

The computer itself was offline, a simple, serene screensaver of a kitten romping through a field bouncing around the monitor.

Joseph, you can give me an investigation or search roll if you're checking out the rest of the office, or a computers roll if you want to try to interact with the computer.

Upstairs, the music continued pounding, and apparently news of Karl's 'connection' was spreading; a few young men individually would begin to walk towards him and Riel, then get a few words whispered in their ears, and immediately back off from the seeming couple.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Smile and wave..., Karl thinks as he sees those seeking him. He doesn't wave, only glances at the others, trying to keep up a conversation with Riel so they seemed normal. "What kinda scams this Angel guy run anyway?", he asked, going for more intel.

Then, before she can answer he shifts rather abruptly forward, his left hand grabbing the table and going white knuckled for just a second... he takes in a deep breath and freezes where he sits. The episode is over in a scant few seconds, but gulping air, he whispers in a tense voice to Riel, "I just got something... another death- being crushed to death while someone laughs. There's like this... snake dragon thing- like the Midgard Serpent squeezing life from the World."

He looks over to her, blinking rapidly, "I ah... it's not unusual for me to see death like that- but not like that. Mostly it's in dreams- or when I dive into myself to bring up some skills and experiences."

Karl taps his ear, "Tin, this is Karl... is something odd happening? Any danger or something?"

In reply to Karl Grimmson (msg #49):

"You bet it is!" Chuck replied with concern. "The room that Joseph just walked in is totally offline. They changed the cameras so they cannot look into the room. Somebody has figured out my presence from last time..." He grumbled. "They even have all the computers running a screensaver and that's it!"

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Cut off from communication with the others for now, Joseph decided to keep his hands away from the traceable electronics until he had tapped out the potential for the rest of the room. Flipping back his jacket and pulling out a pair of gloves, he got to work investigating the room for anything; something behind a picture, something in the desk, behind the couch, full out casing the joint.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Karl looked around as the woman beside him stood. There was something threatening in her movement- like a panther preparing to pounce. (OOC: just interpreting here- if I'm wrong Riel just let me know and I'll alter) "We had a whole plan here... I'm guessing we're just gonna set that aside to get a full roll call? I understand we need to take care of our own- but this needs to be a conscious decision.", he said over the comm. His mind rumbled as well- Howser was not the man he needed if this was going down so he wanted the chance to push forward.

The old man is getting comfortable inside my head..., he thought. Never kept a hold of someone this long. It feels so suffocating sometimes, letting someone else in- but I'm getting comfortable with him too- and that's kinda scaring me.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
Joseph finds nothing, but it's the -extent- of the nothing that's odd; it's as if someone very-well acquainted with evidence gathering has swept the place with a meticulous eye. Everything is dusted and cleaned within an inch of its life.

However.

One little thing stands out at the last moment. Right by the door jamb, almost impossible to notice unless one's specifically investigating... There's a fingernail. Not a clipping, but a full-on nail. A close examination shows no blood, so it wasn't ripped off.

Marcus speaks into his communicator, "I'm still here in the basement. I can phase through the floors and walls, so I can be wherever you guys need me to facilitate an escape route. Let me know what the plan is!"

OOC: Marcus is going 'escape route' because I'd rather not have him dominate the scene as an NPC, or come up with the plan-of-attack.

Re: Scene 4.3: The Cat's Away
"Someone really cleaned this joint up," Joseph thought to himself. "It's like they didn't even trust their documents enough to just leave them cluttered around the desk."

So finding that little detail out of place was very curious. Joseph crouched down, and picked up the fingernail. He tried looking it over, wondering if perhaps it was a press-on nail or alike, pressing it between his fingers to test its give and durability.
